IMPORTANT NOTE: There is a much easier way to root this ROM.
Skip this guide and use this method instead: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460
I'm making this thread to explain the method for obtaining root privileges on the AT&T V20c ROM on the Nitro HD (P930). This really is the easiest way that is currently known, so please don't ask me if there is a simpler method.
This method will NOT allow you to install a custom recovery on your phone. If you want to install custom ROMs, you should follow the unbricking guide instead.
I should also make it clear that if you do follow the unbricking guide, you can install custom recovery and install HO!NO!'s flashable V20c ROM, which is already rooted. If you prefer this route, can you find more information about it here and here. The below process is only if you want to keep your phone as stock as possible with the only difference being that you will have root access.
Note that you will lose all your settings during this process!
1) Make sure you have the LG drivers installed. If you don't, install the drivers from this page: http://www.lg.com/us/mobile-phones/ATT_Update/index.jsp
2) Install the AT&T ICS leak ROM (v18f) here: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/26138-firmware-p930-udt-v18f-04112012-nitro-hd-ics-leak/ . Connect your phone to your computer, run P930_UDT_v18f_04112012.exe, and it will install the V18f ROM for you. If you can't get it to recognize your phone, then put your phone in download mode and try again. To access download mode, disconnect the USB cable from the phone, and make sure the phone is completely off. Then hold down the volume up button while inserting the USB cable. The phone will turn itself on (don't press the power button) and should say "download mode" on the screen. Then let go of the volume up button.
If you get an error when trying to run the v18f installer, right-click on the installer and select "Run as administrator". I'm not sure why sometimes this is necessary but other times it's not.
3) Once the V18f ROM has been flashed successfully, skip through the initial setup screens until you get to the home screen. Then go to Settings > Developer options and enable "USB debugging". Important: You must disconnect the USB cable before the option can be enabled! Then return to the home screen.
4) Reconnect the USB cable. Select "PC software" mode if it asks. Then download v20c_root.rar at the bottom of this post. Extract it wherever you want, then run TPSparkyRoot.bat. Your phone will automatically reboot multiple times during this process. After each reboot, wait until the phone is fully booted, then press a button to continue the program.
5) After TPSparkyRoot is finished, go to the KeepRoot folder and run Before.bat. After a few seconds, press enter in the command prompt window to close the window.
6) Next, go to http://www.lg.com/us/mobile-phones/ATT_Update/index.jsp and download and run the "LG Mobile Support Tool". If you already have it installed, you can simply run it. Follow along with the instructions to let it update your phone back to V20c. If you can't get it to recognize your phone, then put your phone in download mode and try again. (See step 2 above for instructions on how to access download mode.) Special note: If you have previously added the line 127.0.0.1 csmg.lgmobile.com to your hosts file as instructed by the unbricking guide, you must REMOVE the line before this step will work!
Important: After the phone finishes flashing, your phone will be stuck on the boot screen and will never finish booting. This is supposed to happen! Continue to the next step. If your phone boots up completely, something went wrong -- start from the beginning and make sure you didn't skip a step!
7) Once your phone is stuck on the boot screen, run the AfterROOT.bat from the KeepRoot folder.
8) Your phone will still be stuck on the boot screen. At this point, you should disconnect your USB cable, then pull the battery from your phone to force it to turn off. Reinsert the battery, then press and hold both the "volume down" and "power" buttons at the same time for about 10 seconds. You should eventually see a screen asking you if you want to perform a hard factory reset. Let go of the buttons when that appears, then press the power button twice to confirm.
9) If everything went correctly, your phone will now boot up normally with V20c installed and rooted! Check your apps to see if the "Superuser" app is there -- if so, you're rooted! Congratulations!
Please let me know if you have any issues or if you find anything is inaccurate in this guide. Thanks.
IMPORTANT NOTE: There is a much easier way to root this ROM.
Skip this guide and use this method instead: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460
For anyone wondering, a similar method can be used for unbricking as well. I may get around to making a guide for that, but since there's already a working method it's not that critical.
Thanks, u explain steps clearly, I will try it on my nitro

That's normal. You have to follow the instructions. Press a button in that window after the phone reboots itself. You have to reboot I think 3 times for that part.
i successfully installed v18f, but when i try installing CWM by Rommanager, it shows "boot certificate error" in recovery mode ???

Again, this has been stated multiple times, but if you missed it, you can go through the unbricking guide (It's really NOT that hard) and then flash HO!NO!'s CWM-Flashable ICS ROM, which will allow you to retain CWM and have root. Just my 2 cents. Kudos to you though drumist, brianlili's rooting guide died a while ago, and this one is simpler to understand. It should be stickied.

This guide is specifically for the AT&T Nitro HD. Do you have a P936?
If you don't have the AT&T version of the phone, I'd suggest going with the unbricking guide and flashing HO!NO!'s flashable version of V20c, if you want that ROM.

OK, then it should work. If you have a modified hosts file (because of running the unbricking guide in the past), you need to remove the line you added before you can continue this guide. I'll add a note about that to the guide.
Finally, i completed restore my nitro to v20c stock, thanks u . Btw, with the unbricking guide, my KDZ FW UPD shows "Normal web upgrade test" not the "CSE web upgrade test" and i see many people have this problems though the flashing progress completed. Do you have exp to fix it ? I'm running win 8 pro 64bit

Keep in mind, this method is not confirmed working if you're running android 2.3.x [ Gingerbread ]. So do not use this if you're running it. Also dual sim ones aren't supported from what I see it tempers with the phone, I haven't tested it but many have reported it doesn't work on dual sims.
Lets get started shall we? Firstly I have gathered up some useful resources that will help you get started. Make sure you read this guide first, from top to bottom. Then continue. As you must have a clear understanding on what you are going to attempt. If you have any queries don't hesitate to ask on the thread itself.

I have performed these exact steps and have successfully unlocked my bootloader and rooted the phone. So if you're worried. Don't be. After attempting this I haven't noticed any issues either.
Okay, first of all you will need to download Unlockbootloader ---> View attachment unlockbootloader.zip
Once you have downloaded the said .zip extract the .exe file inside the .zip to your desktop.
Continue by turning on USB debugging on your G300. if its already switched on then skip the part below..
Go into Settings>Developer Options and tick the USB Debugging option.
Once its switched on, plug your phone to the computer using a USB cable.
So far you've downloaded Unlockbootloader, have switched USB debugging on, and your phone is connected to your PC.
Now run the .exe file you have just extracted. Click "Root" and let it do everything, it will prompt up with a few warnings saying don't use your keyboard because CMD is running.
Once the setup finishes, your phone should be rooted.
Head into the app drawer, and if you see "SuperUser" you're now officially rooted.
Reboot your phone to finalize the rooting and exploits.
Ok, now for the bootloader.
Once your phone is on, and connected again to the PC with debugging mode on, run the .exe file again and this time click "Unlock BootLoader".
Wait for it to do its job, once done reboot again and you now have a Stock Rooted and Bootloader unlocked ICS phone.

Hi, assuming you have installed the g300 adb drivers, once the device is hanging on the boot logo and you connect the usb cable. You need to wait for windows to fully the load the adb driver before you use the unlockbootloader.exe program.

What you have to do is,turn on debug, then power off device fully by pulling off battery then putting it back in, now you must power on by golding the volume down button and power button at the same time, this should get it to be stuck on the huawei logo screen, now plug in your USB cable and wait for you PC to detect the phone and it should automatically install the devices driver's, one its done the now open the folder and run .BAT files, If you are experiencing problems here's a link for another guide : View

Hello krishneelg3,
I have tried a method on http://huaweig300.com but I'm stuck with the problem.
Installing USB drivers/Root/Backup IMEI went OK. Then by mistake I skipped the Step on page 5. Check Baseband and kept continued by Bootloader & ClockworkMod all went OK until the step 10. On page 6. After executing BootloaderG300.exe the phone rebooting cyclically, My operator screen appear for a approximately one second and the phone restarts again. How to resolve the problem and is there any hope to return to official ROM?
Thanks in advance, I really appreciate it.

What was ur baseband and were u running gingerbread?
If u r on official ics then this guide is for u, if not notify me.
PS : If you are running Gb I refer you to look into this guide, as long as your phone can boot into bootloader your fine, and I'm sure it will boot into Bloader mode : http://www.modaco.com/topic/353386-how-to-root-your-huawei-ascend-g300-for-windows-mac-and-linux/
Thanks krishneelg3,
my baseband is 109808, and I'm running GB.
The problem is that I don't know if I'm in a Bootloader mode when I see a pink screen?
When I press VOLUME DOWN + POWER it starts same as when I press POWER, first logoo (in my case picture of my operator) it lasts for about few seconds, then phone reboots and start doing it cyclically.
The other thing is that, when I press VOLUME DOWN + VOLUME UP + POWER, it then turns into a pink screen.
In that state (pink screen), when I plug in my phone to my PC, PC recognize my phone without reading sd card or internall memory.
So what should I do?
Thanks man, really appreciate it!
Guys,
I solved the problem.
I've just followed the instructions in step 5. on the site http://huaweig300.com and put a new update.app (1 KB) and copy it to the dload. After that I've used main dload (ICS folder, aprox abot 600 MB) and everything updated and installed successfully.
Thanks.
p.s. if anyone has or had the same problem, do not hesitate to ask.
hi all
sorry to hijack the thread
I have just got my son an ascend 300 which is locked to vodafone
its on android 2.3.6
the build number is
u881v100r001c02b892
i have a download of HDU88151079V100R001C00B934 which is the ICS but i dont think that will work for my build
ideally i want ICS but dont mind too much waiting.
but i do want to be able to get of all the bloatware.
I guess i need to root to do this.
the link to the modaco site is down and it seems this is for those lucky enough to be on ICS
would i be better off upgrading to ICS then following the method above or would i be better finding a method to root under gb (If so where)
many thanks

OK get the official pics update b927* must be that build.
After its done downloading, extract its contents to your memorycard of the phone.
Make sure the update.app is in the root of SD card .
Then power off phone, remove battery re apply battery and hold the three buttons "volume up, volume down and the power button" until a screen pops up it will then install the stock ics once its done it'll reboot twice.
If only one it doesnt matter.
Setup the phone. Now to install b934 or newer versions use cwm for dazzozos repacks or the update force method. But I advice u to look for help on modaco. Thanks.
Modaco name : krishang3

Thanks for that by b927* you are referring to a different version of HDU88151079V100R001C00B934 ?
where would i be able to get this from?
so this would give me the stock ics
what is the advantage of then installing HDU88151079V100R001C00B934 ?
Thanks

Your on gingerbread so your baseband Is 109808 and if u flash any b934+ stock using the combinations say goodbye to your phone. I did that to my brothers and it bricked.
So to get to ice you must install b927 version of ics then your baseband will change to the new one *2030* now you can flash any b934+ stocks because you now have the new baseband.
Go to modaco and enter the G300 forums and look at the first dew pages all the info and guides you need. Procedure is simple.

THIS THREAD IS INTENDED TO USE ONLY FOR THE SGH-S730m, AND NOT FOR ANY OTHER PHONE. I CANNOT CONFIRM THAT IT WILL WORK ON ANY OTHER SGH-S730 VARIANTS, SO USE THIS THREAD AT YOUR OWN RISK. I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DATA LOSS, OR BRICKING THAT IS A RESULT FROM YOU CHOOSING TO ROOT. HOWEVER, IF YOU SOFT BRICK YOUR PHONE, IT CAN BE FIXED VIA CLOCKWORK RECOVERY (TO BE POSTED SOON)
WARNING ABOUT USING ODIN: IF YOU ARE A NOOB, ONLY CLICK ON THE BUTTONS I TELL YOU TO CLICK, AND NOTHING ELSE. I ACCIDENTALLY SOFT BRICKED MY PHONE BECAUSE I HIT THE WRONG BUTTON WHILE USING ODIN.
AND LASTLY, ROOTING WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY.
What you will need to do this:
What you will need before you start:
A computer with a internet connection, and running Microsoft Windows XP or higher, with at least one working USB hub.
A Samsung Galaxy Discover - SGH-S730m
Samsung USB Drivers: Here
UnlockRoot Free (you don't need the paid version): Here
The Odin Flashing program and Clockwork Touch Recovery bundle:Here
** Please click on "File" then "Download" inside of Google Drive
Rooting the SGH-S730m
1. Download and install UnlockRoot Free on your PC (here if you like to procrastinate). YOU DO NOT HAVE TO INSTALL BLOATWARE!!! PLEASE READ SETUP INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY!!!
2. Download and Install Samsung USB Drivers (here as well). If it prompts you to reboot for any reason, then reboot your Computer.
3. After all of this is over, you have to prepare yourself for the hardest part of this whole process, and maybe the most complicated dilemma you will ever face in the entirety of your lives.
4. Turn on your phone if it isn't already. Wait for the phone to fully boot.
5. Plug your phone into the computer via USB.
6. Run UnlockRoot on your computer and click the "Root" Button (when it prompts you to install bloatware apps on your device, say no).
DO NOT UNPLUG YOUR PHONE UNTIL UnlockRoot SAYS IT IS OK TO DO SO!!!!
Congratulations, you have should now have a rooted SGH-730m in proximity to your hands!
DIAGNOSTICS:
If by any reason, you feel unsure as to if your phone is actually rooted or not:
Install a root checking app.
These apps will tell you if your phone has root access or not.
Try Root Checker from the Google Play Store.
Install a terminal emulation app.
In these apps, type the command "su" (without quotes). If you get "permission denied" you have not rooted your device. If it prompts you for root privileges (ie a popup appears) then your device is rooted!
Try Terminal Emulator from the Google Play Store.
If you are a n00b (like me occasionally), and you fail to understand why something works, or, the exact opposite: Don't worry! You probably thought the auxiliary headphone jack was the USB port, or, thought you should unplug your phone early, despite me warning you not to do that. That's okay, you can get it fixed.
If you somehow managed to soft brick your phone, or, it boots to a black screen, then you can also continue to the next step.
Installing Clockwork Mod Recovery
This is when things start to get scary. If you are a beginner Odin person, then you must follow these steps very carefully, or you might brick your phone.
1. Download the Odin Flashing Application. All you need to do is extract the folder inside of the zip and place it onto your desktop.
2. Right click on the .exe file inside of the odin folder and select “Run as Administrator”
3. Now that odin is running:
4. CLICK ON THE PDA BUTTON
5. When the file window appears, browse to the desktop directory (your desktop) and select recovery.tar.md5
6. Press Start.
DO NOT DISCONNECT, UNPLUG, PLAY WITH ANY BUTTONS, OR CLICK ANYTHING ON EITHER THE PHONE OR COMPUTER UNTIL ODIN HAS FINISHED FLASHING CLOCKWORK RECOVERY ON YOUR PHONE.
7. To boot into recovery, just turn of the phone and press the upper volume button.
That should be IT!
A TriangleAway patch (a way to get rid of the yellow triangle that might appear on boot) post will follow eventually!
Please post any mistakes (or broken links) of this OP below. I will try to fix the instructions accordingly. I am not always online, but it may appear that I am. Please post questions, or corrections on this thread.
I will directly attach some files tomorrow, so there wont be any broken links.

I just bought a unlocked Galaxy Discover, so wanted to say thank you for helping get root on it.
has anyone started working on a new rom for it, or a way to overclock the cpu a bit to help make it perform a little better, 800 MHz is a tad on the slow side but usable, if we can get it bumped up to at least 1 GHz that would be a big improvement.

I bought mine unlocked from Amazon, and I've seen them for sale on ebay also.
I have seen sites that claim to be able to unlock the Galaxy Discover S730M so you should be able to get a unlock code for it.
I finally had a chance to try this out, was able to root with no problems thanks OP. MY only remaining annoyance with the stock rom is the lock screen. I'd like to replace the swipe to unlock screen that Samsung used on this with the stock ICS unlock screen. Can you recommend any that would work with CWM if flashed to the s730M?

***** Original thread is here *****
***** Please thank Ivdoan (and donate to him if you can), he is the mastermind behind finding and implementing root for this phone *****
What you will need to do this
What you will need before you start:
A computer with a internet connection, and running Microsoft Windows XP or higher, with at least one working USB hub.
A Samsung Galaxy Discover - SGH-S730m
Samsung USB Drivers: Here
UnlockRoot Free (you don't need the paid version): Here
The Odin Flashing program and Clockwork Touch Recovery bundle: Here
** Please click on "File" then "Download" inside of Google Drive
How to verify your 730M is rooted
6. Now shutdown your phone. Boot into odin download mode by turning the phone (release the power button as the phone vibrates) and holding the lower volume button and home key. Follow the instructions (press the upper volume button) to continue with download mode.
7. Inside of odin, press the "Start" button.
DO NOT DISCONNECT, UNPLUG, PLAY WITH ANY BUTTONS, OR CLICK ANYTHING ON EITHER THE PHONE OR COMPUTER UNTIL ODIN HAS FINISHED FLASHING CLOCKWORK RECOVERY ON YOUR PHONE.
8. To boot into clockwork recovery, hold down the upper volume and power key until the first vibration, then just hold the volume key.
That should be IT!
How to recover from a soft brick
YOU MUST HAVE A MICRO SD CARD WITH AT LEAST 500 MB OF FREE STORAGE SPACE TO DO THIS!
To reduce confusion, please remove any backups that you may already have (which would be funny, you wouldnt have to do this anyways).
1. Download the rooted stock CWM Recovery Image (.zip) I made from here, to your device (preferably a computer).
2. Extract ALL of the contents of the zip file to the root directory of your micro SD Card. The folder should be named "clockworkrecovery".
3. Remove the SD card from the remote device, and turn off the SGH-S730m.
4. Remove the back plating from the phone, and insert the micro SD card into the phone.
5. After putting the phone back together, boot into recovery by holding down the upper volume and power key until the first vibration, then just hold the volume key.
6. Using the volume keys as scrolling keys, scroll down using the lower volume until you see "backup and restore". Touch the menu item.
7. Touch the "restore" option.
8. If you extracted the zip file the exact way I told you to: you should see a menu option. If you didn't do what I told you to, you may see "No files found". If it says "cant mound /sd" (or something similar), you probably have a bad SD Card, or, forgot to put it in correctly.
9. Click on the menu item.
WAIT FOR THE PHONE TO BE 100% DONE RESTORING YOUR BACKUP TO THE PHONE! YOU COULD HARD BRICK THE PHONE (BECAUSE CWM RECOVERY WRITES TO THE BOOTLOADER). DO NOT TURN OFF THE PHONE, THE PHONE IS NOT FROZEN IF IT WONT RESPOND FOR A WHILE.
10. If you did this correctly, you should have a rooted, restored SGH-S730m!
A Triangle Away Tutorial will come soon!

Unless we have custom ROM devs for this device: there is no way to actually remove the samsung lockscreen.
Does anyone know what system apk handles the lockscreen? It probably requires some deox work on some system files.
If you are looking for an app, try Holo Locker from Google Play Store. I use it for both the 730M and I777. It can glitch though, but it works!

Ok, I wasn't sure. I had seen where they were able to edit a file in the policy.jar file here to change it back to the stock lock screen on a touchwiz rom.
I wasn't sure if it could be done on this one.

Root S730M
Tried yesterday and it worked on the phone from Bell. Thanks!
Thanks for the efforts
Bricked my wifes phone trying to get it to work on Koodo for picture messageing. Luckily I was able to use ODIN to load Clockwork loader and load your backup. It is back to a telus phone but for the first time since we switched to Koodo I was able to send a text from the Galaxy discover.
When I built a new APN for Koodo it showed up at the top and Telus was second. This was previously Telus at the top even though I had the Koodo enabled not the Telus it would not send a picture.
Now the funny thing is my LG optimus won't send a picture and I have changed nothing. Koodo is driving me nuts. and it's a short trip. http://forum.xda-developers.com/images/smilies/laugh.gif

LG is working again?????
Latest in the Telus moving to Koodo Saga. Both the LG P500 and the Samsung SGH S730M do not send MMS. I loaded ICS on the LG from Oxygen and can now send MMS from the LG. Carrier shows as Telus. The Samsung recieves just fine but will not send MMS. I tried switching MPS code.dat in EFS to KDO from TLS but it did not work. Does anybody know what settings might be changed to make this phone a KOODO phone or think it's a KOODO phone. Or even a plain google phone. Thanks:fingers-crossed:

Are you referring to the customer sales code?
It is embedded everywhere in the Android operating system.
Commonly known as the CSC.
I will post as many locations of the csc code as I can find.
As a note, if you install Holo Launcher from Google play, you can add "activities" to your homescreen, giving you access to hidden apps that require dial pad access.
One activity is called "preconfig". DO NOT TRY TO INSTALL OTHER CERTIFICATES: IT WILL RESET YOUR PHONE AND THE CSC WILL REMAIN THE SAME: TLS.
I will try to help. I wish I knew more about this phone's structure.

Hi, I am here in flashing phones newbie, so sorry in advance. I have LT26i original stock firmware. And I would like to use android 4.2.2 (because waiting for official firmware is unbelivieble). So I found some instructions how can I do it.
first root, then unlock bootloader, then install CWM and then install firmware
Root is done, I think that my unlock is already done too , but without my working on it. Because if I press *#*#7378423#*#* and then Service info--->Configuration I see this: Bootloader unlocked yes.
Next if I want to install cwm I do not know how, beacuase I cant go into fastboot. If I use combination switch on+volume up in same time as I plug USB cabel in device manager appear nothing new. (I am using win8 and UsB debuging is enabled). And a situation is if i press all , is short one vibration then 3 short vibration, logo Sony and it is repeating if I hold all,
what is a issue?
thank you very much

Hello madacek,
I wish I could help you out with all the questions,
But just explaning them will not be sufficient.
This requires lot of reading the forum and learn the basics of flashing in installing roms.
But I'd try to explain you the best as possible.
1. Is Your Phone Bootloader Unlocked?
Dial *#*#7378423#*#* . Then go to -> "Service Info" -> "Configuration". If there is:
Bootloader unlock allowed - Yes << this means that your Bootloader is Locked
Bootloader Unlocked - Yes << this means that your bootloader is unlocked
2. Which Firmware?
Well Actually Every Firmware from Are Very Amazing Developers are Great To Use.
What matters is, Is the firmware stable or not?
Developers Publish 3 Types of Firmwares.
- Nightly Builds : Generally published every week or so for developing perpose
- Monthly Builds : Much Stable Then Nightly.
- Beta Versions : Most Stable.
These may vary depending on developers,
There are a lot of Custom Roms for Xperia. And every one of them is Unique And Great.
List of ROMS for Xperia S is Given Here.. ---> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1950706
3 How To Instal Firmware.
First of All.
You need to know What problems You can have if You are not flashing Step by Step.
Soft Brick -- Flashing was Not Proper
Hard Brick -- If an any case your phone shuts down during flash.
Bootloops -- This is when your phone goes on doing a same repetitive boot again and again. (Possible Fix - FLash boot.img in downloaded rom zip via FLashtool)
Now Step by Step Process. :
1.Device Unlocking
All info regarding unlocking procedure is on SONY website
http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/
2.Copy update on phone
a.copy update
copy update-xxx-xxx-xxx.zip coresponding to your device to sdcard
b.copy GAPPS
due to legal rules gapps are not provided into main rom
google for gapps package and copy on sdcard
3.Flash CM kernel
a. extract boot.img from zip file
Plugin The Device To FLASHTOOLS on PC
And Follow These Instructions ---> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1963961
4.Boot into recovery
While FXP logo is displayed (and lights are lit) press several times volume up to enter CWM (recovery)
5.Flash ROM
To update main rom select
a.Install zip from sdcard
b.choose zip from sdcard
c.select your update (copied at step 2)
To flash gapps redo steps a-c and select gapps package
!!! use gapps version designed for your android version !!!
6.Wipe device
!!! if after boot you experience ForceClose then is recommend to reboot to recovery and wipe device
7.Partition format
Is not recommended to format your partitions unless you are advised to do otherwise
8.Reboot and Enjoy
4 Something Important You Need To Know
Do Not Panic. Your phone will not Brick Until You do Something Crazy Like Throwing The phone on wall while Flashing or Plug out the USB when everything is Flashing fine. This requires patience and time. Dont freak out or do something crazy.
5.What is Fastboot?
There are two types of Boot,
Flashmode Boot.
And
Fastboot.
Flashmode is generally used for official stock firmware flashing.
Fastboot is used by developers to flash custom ROMS.
You can go into
Flashmode by Pressing Volume Up Button While Connecting Usb into PC before Starting A Flash
Fastboot by Pressing Volume Down Button While Connecting Usb into PC before Starting A Flash
Slim ROM Its really nice ROM actually And I Have Used The Slim Bean Build 5 Nozomi for a long time now. But currently on CM10 Team FXP. TeamFreeXperia are very professional and release stable builds, So i'd advice you to try one of CM10.

A Word of little advice.
SOFT RESET = 1 vibration then let go of buttons (hold about 3 seconds); Like hitting REBOOT.
HARD RESET = 3 vibrations then let go (about 10 seconds); Like taking out the battery.*
*USE HARD RESET ONLY IF ALL OTHER TRICKS HAVE FAILED. RECOVERY FROM THIS DEEP LEVEL OF SOFT-BRICK WILL TAKE A LONG TIME
Hard Reset Not Advisable @ First Attepmt

Brother,
First thing first that please don't quote the whole OP, its very long and consume much space. Now brother I don't know that its working for A093 or not as I don't have the device and now I have also sold the A104. Try it but before trying download the whole stock firmware of A093, so that if it fails you can get back to its original position.
Regards

Hi man,
I did the whole procedure properly and the top half of my phone screen is inverted.. Not the display, but the touch only.. I must touch the center of the screen to pull down the status bar.. (Know what I mean?) I can't seem to fix the issue.. I tried flashing stock recovery.img, didn't work. Tried stock rom, didn't work. Did a full wipe too.. I'm not blaming you, I just need your help.. Any idea why that happened or how to fix it?

I got the same issue. Looks like the provided boot.img wasnt meant for the device we have. I am also trying to fix this. Will update if it gets fixed.

Hey, Just in case you are still having that issue. I figured out the cause. Its because of the boot.img we flashed. The new hardware components used in our phones are not compatible with the old boot.img we flashed, which is supposed to be of earlier Firmware version. Please download the package below and flash it.
http://clicknupload.com/xdpt8n2w3oho
I assume that you must had already flashed the complete old firmware, you need to flash this new firmware. I havnt flashed old FW so just flashed the new boot.img of this package and the problem is solved.
This is a request to the thread owner to please mention this in OP that the users with V8.1 (can be checked in Settings >> About Phone >> Build Number) should uncheck boot while flashing, however it will cause same inverted touch issue in recovery but it can be managed with the volume buttons anyways.

Brothers,
When I bought this device then I downloaded it and made the rooting n recovery guide after testing it for three times on my device. If later the oem has changed anything in firmware then I'm sorry but I cannot update it as now I don't have this device anymore. If you want recovery for this device then please uploaded your boot.img from latest firmware and I'll make a recovery for you but after 7 days from now. currently busy in funeral of my Grandma.
Thanks & Regards

Lets first start with the very known thing of MTK devices. So these things are common in all MTK:-
1)
Code:
[URL="http://www.mediafire.com/download/kmt3bjcga3pyymf/SP_Flash_Tool_exe_v3.1344.0.212.rar"]SP Flash Tool (For flashing any MTK Device)[/URL]
2)
Code:
[URL="http://www.mediafire.com/download/3q679a2jelhcumc/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.94.zip"]Super-User Update (Rooting zip, flashable in custom recovery)[/URL]
3)
Code:
MTK Preloader USB VCom Driver (Search on google, there are many)
Brothers,
1) is basically used by us for flashing custom recovery, boot, or factory firmware, if anything goes wrong.
2) is used for rooting a ROM, may its Kitkat or Jellybean.
3) is used for flashing through sp flash tool
PRE-Requisite:-
1) Normal Human Brain. [Must, Don't even try without it]
2) Patience [Again a must have thing.]
3) MTK Preloader USB VCom driver installed on your PC.:good:
4) Recovery Utility for Canvas Fire 2 A104 [Download this]:good:
5) Stock Firmware of Canvas Fire 2 A104 [Download this as a precaution]:good:
6) Heart & Money. {If everything goes wrong and nothing works, then heart to bear the blame and money to buy a new phone.
Now Procedure for rooting MT6582M based Micromax Canvas Fire 2 A104:-
a) Download SP Flash tool and also download the recovery utility.
b) Extract both somewhere on your pc but not out side "C/" drive.
c) Open Flash tool and click on scatter loading.
d) Select scatter loading "MT6582_Android_scatter" from recovery utility folder.
e) Now De-select everything other than recovery and boot in the flashtool.
f) Make sure only recovery & boot is selected in flashtool then click Download button.
g) Now connect your fire 2 (without battery) to your pc.
h) Let the process complete. After this disconnect your phone and press Volume up(+) and Power Button for
booting in to recovery.
i) In recovery choose zip "Update SuperUser zip" and flash it and voila.
You have got root and one of the best custom recovery "Phillz Touch based recovery" on your fire 2. Now start firing and enjoy.
Screenshot Given for reference of "Phillz Recovery".
Disclaimer:-
If anything goes wrong, and nothing is there left to make your phone come back, then neither me nor XDA nor my dev brothers are responsible for this. You are the person who have chosen to do this to your device and so you're the responsible person for this. So please do responsibly and enjoy boldly.

Hello brother, something's wrong with my phone (mmx a104). After flashing custom recovery (twrp, philz) when I boot into recovery, touchscreen starts behaving abnormal. It got inverted horizontally and vertically. And it doesn't touch the place where I touch the screen.
Any solution dude.

Can't access FastBoot mode & sporadically won't power back on after I attempt it!
When it's working, my brand new Nexus 7 2013 Wi-Fi powers on and off normally when pressing and holding the power button for 3 seconds. But when I attempt to enter FastBoot mode (I plan on rooting it) by pressing the power & vol up/down simultaneously, nothing happens, just a black screen as if the device is dead. What's worse is that I then have great difficulty getting the Nexus to even power on normally. Right now it appears to be dead but if I press & hold the power button in many attempts it might come back on. This always happens right after I attempt to enter fast boot mode. Using Android 5.01. Can anyone help me with this problem? I'm on the verge of RMAing it since I can't seem to get it to power on anymore but will keep trying. I really would like to root this but it seems impossible at this point.

Instead of using fastboot, I would recomend you use the Nexus Root Toolkit.
It automates the process. Follow the tutorial in the following thread.
Just make sure you have USB debugging enabled in the developer options.

Thanks for the pointer. The website for the tutorials & FAQ in the first post of that topic appears to be down right now but I'll check it out later. Still curious as to why I can't access the FastBoot on my new Nexus 7 2013 by pressing Power + Volume up/Down. Hmmm. Makes me think something is fubared. Heh.

This is becoming FAR more complicated than I would have wished. I used the latest version of the Nexus Toolkit and everything seemed fine, window popup tell me it's rooting, then I come to the Teamwin GUI. Now I'm stuck on that screen with a sh*tload of options and no idea what to do next. All the while the Nexus Tookit popup tells me it's Waiting For Device. If I select Reboot from that menu it gives me a warning that there's no OS installed then proceeds to normally boot to Android 5.02 with a final Nexus Toolkit popup when I get there saying I need to open Busy Box & SuperSU and blah blah blah blah. I check my apps for SuperSU and it's no where to be found. I run Root Checker to see if my tablet is rooted and it's not. I had really hoped this was going to be simple, but I suppose I should be thankful that it didn't brick my new Nexus.

It should have been simple.
Whenever it fails for me I just try again.
Read the instructions carefully.
You should know what you are doing before you attempt anything.

I'm almost at my wit's end. Re-tried it FOUR times and I always hit that "Team Win Recovery Project v2.8.7.0" GUI with the following options: install, wipe, backup, restore, mount, settings, advanced, reboot. None of them offer easy or intuitive answers on what I should do next when I click on them. Just to exit that goddamn GUI I have to select Reboot, with the result that no rooting takes place. Unfortunately, the video tutorials on the site are for older versions of Nexus Tookit and don't show the TWRP GUI at all (just the splash screen), and just goes directly into the rooted tablet. I'm guessing that the latest versions of these tools are for advanced users, whereas I'm pretty much a total newbie. I tried posting in that topic but it says I don't have rights to do so.

In response to this reply you gave me, I decided to test the toolkit out myself.
I successfully performed a full backup, an update to the latest OS, and successful root.
I can't say what your problem is.
Team Winn Recovery Project (TWRP) is the custom recovery that gets installed.
When I rerooted with the toolkit the tablet automatically booted into TWRP in order to complete the rooting procedure.

I've read of a few people that had the exact same issue I've had but couldn't find any solution. Even tried manually browsing with the TWRP Install button but couldn't even find the TWRP recovery images (though Nexus toolkit does appear to download them during the install of that toolkit). I guess this is suppose to all be automatic but for me it's the opposite of that. This is too much for a newbie to try and figure out on their own. Looks like I'll just have to find an alternate method to root. Thanks for your help.
Update: I just used CF-Auto Root and it worked perfectly. Literally a one-click solution to get my Nexus 7 Wi-Fi rooted. This is what I should have done in the first place. Another benefit of this entire issue I had is that the problem with not being able to enter FastBoot mode by pressing Pwr + Volume down (the reason for my original post) went away, luckily, since I wouldn't have been able to use CF-Auto Root without it. My next goal is to downgrade my Android version to KitKat 4.4.4 which I should be able to do now. New question: how do I do this? lol

Gaming supposedly. A lot of users claim that Lollipop plays Android games, especially older ones that haven't been updated lately for 5.0+, sluggishly compared to KitKat. However, after just having bricked my Nexus 7 using Nexus Toolkit trying to downgrade to KitKat earlier tonight (luckily, was also able to restore back to 5.1.1 using Nexus Toolkit), I may just stick with 5.1.1 for a while longer. It actually runs rather snappy for me on my Nexus 7 2013, and it plays 8-bit and 16-bit emulated games beautifully.
You can manually install kitkat if you want to try. This guide tells you how:
http://androidforums.com/threads/guide-how-to-flash-a-nexus-factory-image-manually.706533/
The only thing you have to do differently is that you have to download the 4.4.4 image instead of the one linked in the guide. You can download that from here: https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images

Hi. I followed this tutorial to the letter but it ends up bricking my Nexus 7 2013. It just hangs at the Google boot screen after typing the last command "fastboot reboot." Any ideas on why this happens and how I can get a successful downgrade to KitKat?

try using the nexus root Toolkit. it can be used to automatically update the software, so I find nothing wrong with trying to downgrade the software with it. also, it works great at repairing a soft brick

My Nexus 7 2013 is one of those that can't normally downgrade to KitKat due to hardware issues so I had to use the information in the last post of this thread to revert to KitKat 4.4.4. But I discovered I have an issue under KitKat where I can't connect my Nexus 7 to my PC with the USB cable and use it for data transference (there's a missing Nexus 7 device driver under Win7) so I went back to Lollipop 5.02 for the time being. Does anyone know why KitKat gives me a missing Nexus 7 driver in Win7? I have all my google USB drivers installed and working.
