[Q] SMS problem

Hi guys, strange problem is happening with me over last couple of days and as usual Vodafone are no help whatsoever at rectifying it, hopefully someone on here can help.
All of my contacts are working as normal with sms and mms except for one contact. When I try to sms this one contact the phone does not even attempt to send it, it only keeps the typed text in the typing box and leaves the icon flashing as if waiting for more text to be typed! If I add a subject title to the message it will send fine as an mms message to this person and can phone the person all fine...just the sms option not working.
Would appreciate if anyone has any ideas

Try recreate the contact and try not to sync the contact with any web profile you have.

Have tried this mate, even spoke to HTC earlier and the guy was pretty helpful but baffled. Am running tbfusion3d but dont think problem is with that as I've been using it for months. Tried installing handcent app there but same problem, send button just refuses to work with the one contact

Can they send you a sms and then try to reply. Is the phone number stored(typed out) the same as the rest of your contacts? Try adding the number to an existing contact and see what happens. Deft strange tho. Subscribed

You have an extremely rare case here. Even if you've tried to clear the contact? Hmm, I don't think I can help you further no more. Sorry

They can text me fine but replying just draws a blank unless I add a subject title as an mms...really strange

Ran across one of my friends with this same issue but for about 3 of her contacts. Tried everything short of factory reset.
Installed GoSMS and all good.

Stock Email app in ICS

So I use the email client with my Comcast email account and everything works ok expect one thing. Maybe I am spoiled from HTC with there email app but I used to be able to select one email to delete. Then I would get an option to mass select all my other emails at once so I wouldn't have to check every single one at a time.
I don't see this option in ICS. I have to be missing it as I can't see this as an option they forgot to put in.

Transfer contacts?

My friend broke his screen on his HTC trophy and he is unable to see anything on the screen. He cannot put in his password to unlock the phone. Does anyone have any ideas on how to transfer the contacts? Cellibrite will not work because the phone cannot be unlocked because the broken screen....

He doesn't need to; they will all transfer automatically when he puts his sim card into a new windows phone and logs into his live account associated with his original phone. If he needs to see his contact have him visit his windowsphone.com account and view contacts.
If no sim card, no worries, just sign into new phone using the live id he used on the trophy.

I think that is part of the problem. He never did have a windows live account.

He had to set one up at some point to use the market, built in services like Office & Skydrive, Find My Phone ect. He's either got a "live" or "hotmail" account, and that is where his contacts will be stored. He could have had them sync elsewhere in addition to that (like gmail ect)

He has his replacement phone which is a HTC trophy as well. He has the phone up and going but his contacts are not there. What should he log into to bring up his contacts? Window market, his email account,... sorry for the newb question. I am use to android.

What for email did he use?
Windows live 1st... it is usually required.
Gmail?
Exchange?
Any of these he could have been saving contacts too. Just not pop3 like comcast for example.
Have him enter all of his email accounts that his previous phone used and see what happens after they sync.

Not been funny or anything but who in their right mind would give out their details to strangers, especially when it holds important personal photos? Lesson learned I guess.

what's the new email adress (u should receive an email from dropbox after changing password or email) ?

Yeah,i didn't had a problem with him.Gave him the details,he added 50 GB,after i received the mail i immediately changed my dropbox password and ended his session with dropbox (you can do that from the website ) and i didn't had any problems.

I was in the same situation (mailed him an old account to play with) he also changed password and email, the only thing u can do is contact dropbox (support is sloooooooow)

Ok,i've read some posts from here and i don't understand some things.If you change your password don't you instantly receive an email from dropbox with a link in it (the link dirrecting you to the password management section of dropbox)? And don't the same thing apply with the email?

He asks you to change your password.....he changed the email associated to the account and then rechanged the password

And Dropbox doesn't send you and email regarding this?I mean,if they send an email regarding the password with a link to retrieve the password,why wouldn't they do the same with the email?
The "change email" option that Dropbox offers i don't agree with it,i mean,email shouldn't be changed,honestly,or if so,they should make up a better prottection system if they allow you to do this.Anyway,i think you should contact Dropbox team to see how to solve this (but i doubt that they will do something about it).

Is there any way to install HTC Mail app on Nexus ?

So, is there any way we can install the HTC mail app on our Galaxy Nexus ? I love that mail client and i would use it on my nexus also. :laugh:

I guess it requires htc sense framework, so most probably no.

If this is not possible, what is the best mail client ? The default one is horrible

K9 was a really popular one last time I needed an alternative to stock

Mail clients on Android are pretty terrible. You've either got the choice of equally bad open source clients like K-9, or ad-ridden clients like Aqua Mail or Maildroid that require a payment to get the pro version.
I stick to the default mail client because it works fine for me despite being kinda crappy.

Everything is crap. Only the HTC one was ok for me... Isnt there any way to port it ?

if you port the framework for sense, yes. otherwise i would guess no

What's wrong with the nexus default? I use both accounts and constantly get mail almost every minute on of them. Gmail is the one pissed about, its slow and unreliable most times.

The HTC one has some excellent features which you just don't get on the defaut client, like the ability to see all emails from all folders and all accounts in one pot.. That would be the main selling point for me!, is there a paid for client that can do that?

I have been using Touchdown to access my official mails (exchange server). Feature wise I think this is the best mail client on android but UI can be better.

Thanks Zepius but this doesn't let you view all emails from all selected folders, it only combines the inboxes from two or more accounts.
