Hi!
I want to flash new kernel but earlier I must unlock bl. I will do this with official metod but i'm afraid that Sony and my operator(T-Mobile) dont wanna repair my phone when for example: my vol up button will destroy of using recovery, cause of unlocked bl. Can I lock bl when I will give my phone to warranty. Also I wanna know that, they wont be able to check that I unlock bl earlier?. Sorry for my bad english

They should repair all hardware issues so wouldn't worry about relocking it, any software issues can be repaired here.
When I will have software issue I will repair it by myself When I hear that Arc S wont have JB and any updates I decide to unlock bl. And last question. Can I relock my bl when I want and after that unlock again?

I bought an xperia arc s two days ago..and I want to unlock bootloader/root/install CWM and costume roms..but some friends advised me not to do so and keep on stock status..because thsey claim that I may not be able to update the phone to the supposedly so near almost on the door ICS of android..is it true?and if I did the unlcok bootloader and rooted..won't I be able to revert back to stock and update to the ICS when it comes?what do u think guys..?thx in advance
If u unlock bootloader, u cant update through pc companion. However, u can always relock back the bootloader, allowing you to update using pc companion.
However, in my opinion, having an unlocked bootloader doesnt bring any downside (except losing drm) coz u can still flash ICS using flashtool or flash it as .zip coz the devs at our forum will surely modify it or something...
However,its all up to you

I think it doesnt matter which rom r u on to relock it as long as ur on stock rom. But I recommend using fw .42 to relock cause that was the firmware I usually use to relock.
Im right now using xperia s beta rom 5, doomkernel v19...

I think you can relock any baseband if you unlock the bootloader with the official se method. If you unlock it with a testpoint methode you cant relock it.

What i mean is if there is a .tft or .ftf for the new beta of ICS cause i dont want to unlock my bootloader. The very reason i have a custom rom is i created multiple method just to have one. For example my Xperia Play as of this moment is running the T.E.A.M Rom w/ default ericson kernel. How did i do that? I used a kernel w/ Superuser and Clockwork then flashed again replacing just the kernel and i was able to use a Rom. Anyway i relly on flashtool to get more w/o unlocking my bootloader, but is there a flashtool process to get the ICS beta working?

u must have unlocked bootloader to use that ics beta..
I guess this means that the flashtool serves no purpose for the xplay beta, better wait for the official w/c doesnt require unlock bootloader.
Btw the other free method w/c uses a pin, i was able to successfully do that. But the dos for fastboot wont continue, that made methink that unlock bootload for me is unsuccess though the tool said mine is unlocked.

why not u unlock bootloader?? u can relock back using flashtool..
Sorry im not really that techy but ill read that relock, cause what i know is that relocking bootloader has its rules and limit, would it be possible to relock after flashing to ICS Beta. ICS w/ safe locked bootloader.

relock bootloder is so easy.. what u need is .ftf file and flash it using flashtool
you cant relock it when using custom rom.. it may brick your device
my suggestion is unlock your bootloader to flash ICS beta and when ICS officially release by sony.. u can relock it back but u must flash the stock rom first to receive that update
It thats really,if my play relock back,im can get the realease update, from sony With the pc companion? Because I just unlock my BL,

Uh, don't go about giving wrong information. You will NOT be able to find out whether your bootloader is unlocked through the service menu!
What that shows is only whether you're 'allowed' to unlock the bootloader or not. Pretty big difference.
And a brand new phone from the dealer is bound to have a locked bootloader.

Yes.. But remember that voids your warranty and you lose your DRM keys by doing so..

This is a grey area as Sony don't support rooting so in theory you lose warranty, but I have had to send many arc back to Sony for repair, because I bricked the device by updating over the air when the bootloader was unlocked via test point( didn't realize it was unlocked) and nothing was said about it being rooted( perhaps because it wouldn't switch on) still got it repaired.
So in short yes you lose warranty but depending on the repair it might not be an issue.

I heard that It was voided your warranty when unlocked bootloader. I feel if I rooted only, I wouldn't lose my warranty. Sure ?

If I repair via SUS. will I claim my warranty ?

IMO the rooted phoned could be flash back to stock ROM and kernel but not the BL even you re-lock it by any means.
As I know something like id for DRM (??) would be gone forever when you unlock the BL.
Dear friend, remember when the time unlocking the bootloader, there is a particulars verification to fill in on Sony's website. Only if they are right then they will send u the keys to unlock. It should b that time when they keep a record of it n that's why...

without knowing my phone's bootloader was unlocked by the shop in the 1st place!!!
it's currently 6.1.A.2.45 Root Status: Unlocked Bootloader = Yes...
after downloading the update, the phone shut down automatically while installing the update, and a brief recovery screen appear on the restart, the phone would still start normally but there's a notification telling me the update could not be installed
I repeated this a few times then only I realize my phone was unlocked and OTA shouldn't be done on an unlocked phone :crying:
had it done any damage? I can't tell....
please help, thank you guys very much in advance........

If u have an unlocked bootloader on ur device, u will experience FOTA brick while you try update OTA, I heard PCC stops working as well but SUS works for some. But you always have access to flashtool for flashing new fw.
