[Q] Where is your S3 Battery Made? - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

I recently purchased a T-Mobile Galaxy S3 and want to put my mind to ease by confirming that I didn't receive some fake battery.
Phone model: SGH-T999
My battery says "CELL MADE IN KOREA / ASSEMBLED IN CHINA"
Is this typical? I have seen photos where the battery just says "Made in Korea" so I want to confirm that mine is not some counterfeit.
Thanks!!

I am now properly confused as I have probably seen at least 4 different variations of this battery...
Made in Korea
Cell Made in Korea / Assembled in China
Cell Made in Japan / Assembled in China
Cell Made in Korea / Assembled in Vietnam
Is it same to assume that there are actually different genuine batteries made for this phone? Just seems strange that two phones purchased from T-Mobile have the batteries made in different places. Are batteries assembled in China inferior (i.e. do they perform worse at holding a charge)?

I do notice my Korea battery last longer than the one made in Korea but assembled in China.

You have both? Did the one assembled in China also come with the phone? Approximately how much longer?

This thread is hilarious.

If you read the above replies you would realize that the ebay sellers are selling the original back cover and not the extended battery cover. Pray that someone has extra and is willing to help you or search on ebay.

I believe they are genuine because NFC functionality works.
Other shops do not have them because they are not sold separately in Korea (or anywhere in the world), they come in the box of the Galaxy Nexus in Korea. (http://www.gsmarena.com/korean_galaxy_nexus_to_have_an_extended_2000mah_battery-news-3449.php)
I believe the seller is taking them out of the box and reselling, thus why he states no retail packaging. (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-Sam...Accessories&hash=item1c222d09fc#ht_4850wt_905)
This is the packaging it comes in: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20976912&postcount=213

I'm not paranoid, I'm simply not ignorant.
Batteries are dangerous if build with cheap materials without rigid check during the manufacturing process.
Batteries can explode, can leak acid and can burn. Is this paranoia?

Yes it is paranoia if the paranoid thoughts or ideas are unfounded,The seller on eBay has legitimate OEM battery's,people have posted pictures & reported they are in fact real yet you continue to bog up the forums & threads with this nonsense.Nobody cares if you don't want to buy one, nobody cares if you do.What we all do care about is information in these threads & on xda as a whole stays as clean and on topic as possible,we all come here for REAL information and stuff like this(That you have posted in multiple threads)just makes it more difficult to navigate & find what were looking for.My suggestion would be to read the entire thread I posted for you on page 1,instead of creating new threads with things that have already been or are being discussed.

There is no proof that that battery is genuine so it is highly unprobable that an ebayer could have an item before clove, amazon, expansys and other bigs.
As always happened in the mobile world most of the batteries sold on ebay before.official release are only facked batteries sometimes sold as genuine like in this case
Verizon was selling official replacements for $20 last week. I posted that in the ... other battery thread. Not sure if the sale is still on.

Samsung has not distributed the extended batteries outside of South Korea. The eBay seller is FROM SOUTH KOREA. He is probably getting the batteries from people that don't need them and selling them on eBay. Stop being so dense.
Also again.. it's spelled "faked"
If you don't think they're real then just don't buy them.
Move on.
You can wait till whatever sites you expect to be 'real' and just buy it from them. No body cares if you wanna buy it now. Stop making it such a big deal.
Also, how will you prove that all the websites you pointed out are gunna be 'real'

You can see from the pictures that the label on that battery is stuck on, seems too good to be true when you get about 50% more capacity without any added width, it is more likely to be a fake

Theres another one up that is 2900mah US based seller. Guy has 300,000+ positive feedback.
i saw this too on ebay. i'm considering it
seller feedback means nothing.. normal people won't test the batt properly and will just base it on their gut feel to see if it's better or worse than the original and if you complain that it's crap, the seller can just tell u you use it for 1 mth or something to "condition" it and he can get rid of 80% of all the people who complained
valid point but I think at some level it goes to the quality of the seller.

I've seen lots on ebay that are excellent counterfeits, some of which work as well as the genuine part. For example, I once bought a phone battery that looked exactly the same as the original, except for the quality of the hologram and two small typos, and it held a charge better than the original battery that came with the phone.
So it may well be worthwhile even if it's not genuine.
Hopefully they have nfc support....
A wise man once told me, "You don't always get what you pay for, but you never get what you don't pay for!" $8 for a genuine Samsung battery - when they retail at $30 for a device that is still very popular, I would think twice. Spend the extra $20 for a legit battery.
Just my 2 cents.
Well I can always return it

They are wrong, These days most Manufacturers like HTC, SAMSUNG, SONY, LG are producing there units in China. All these brands have their own manufacturing plants in China.
The reason is because that the manufacturing cost is very competitive/ low in countries like China, Vietnam etc.
And if you search the market then you would find that most of the devices these days are made in China. And all of them are Grade 1 product.
btw, I am not Chinese :silly:
Almost every current smartphones are assembled in China, this is far from surprising. It doesn't mean that you bought a knockoff either.
mr. auni is right. most of the devices now are made in china because of the very cheap labor cost. even iphone is made in china. even if your phone is made in china, it doesn't mean that it is not original. it is just manufactured in china because of the very cheap labor.
