Memory card issue - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

Hey guys,
It started when My phone became very hot, and then I turned it off. so, when I turned it on it said my memory card was damaged.. After It started to work again. So, I didn't look into it and yesterday my gs3 turned off by it self and it said my Memory card is damaged. I just re-formated it again. My memory card is a Patriot 16gb class 10. Should I contract Patriot? my memory card still has warranty....

Most likely the memory card (micro SD) is damaged. Have you tried removing the memory card and seen if the problem is gone? If that works then you can also try using a different memory card and see if the issue is still present (there is a possibility the memory card reader is defected too).

[Q] SD Card Damaged If Battery Dies

4 times now, when my battery has died, I get an error that the SD Card is damaged and I have to reformat it. It happens with the stock 16GB card and a Lexar 16GB class 6 card that I bought.
Any idea what's going on? It's a pain in the a$$ to recover all my pics, etc. And I'm not backing up very frequently.
Thanks!
Seems that the phone has a problem on it corrupting the mem cards. I would assume the mem cards are good and well (and also the fact you tried 2 cards already). Looks to me like a phone problem which is rare. My phone dies of lowbatt also but my memcard is still fine and has all data inside it intact.
If you can reproduce the everytime then best to have it replaced if under warranty. If not, then everytime it goes really low and you can't charge, off the phone totally until you can charge or otherwise remove the memcard to avoid it getting corrupted.
Let it check at a service point.
Mine dies when the battery is too low, too but the memory card is fine afterwards.

Used to have a similar problem with my sd card but it was a card issue("class 6, eBay, China...) as in after any boot it would show as corrupted. If you're sure it's a genuine sd card and you've no suspicions about your Rom then it's defo a hardware problem.

SD Card Issue or Broken Phone?

I'm having some issues with my SD card and I'm wondering if it is a card issue or a phone issue. I switched my podcatcher app to save files to my 32 GB Lexar Class 10 card. I get a lot of download errors related to being unable to reach the filesystem and I get a lot of playback issues where I can't playback a file past a particular point. Today, I got a notification that my card was removed unexpectedly even though I never even took the back off the phone.
So I assume my issues are being caused by the phone losing connection to the card. The card seems firmly seated. It doesn't wiggle around at all. I have formatted the card a few times and it hasn't helped. I chose the Lexar because I've always considered them a high quality brand.
Does anyone have any thoughts on which is broken and what my next steps should be?

Note 2 killed my Sandisk Micro sd HC card?

First, sorry for my bad english. i hope you will understand my problem.
I am using a genunie sandisk 32gb micro sdhc card. used it with my old xperia t too...
Started using it with my Note 2 since 2 months. But i got an error yesterday, that my card is removed because format is not ok. i did nothing with the card or not removed from my phone. My phone was also turned on since 4 days. And today asked me for formatting micro sd card. i had no time to check it on my computer so i choosed format it. Note 2 has formatted it. After that it didnt see my card.
In the storage menu it shows no ext.card. i tried to format my micro sd card on windows and on macbook but they dont see my card.
I lost my photos and some files... i dont care about them now, i just want to format my card but i think its dead now...
Anyone has experience? What shall i do now?
Now i see this again, choosing format but nothing happens...

Do you see it listed in Disk Management in Windows? It could be that it is not being mounted as a drive, but seen as a RAW partition by the system, in which case you can format it from Disk Management and start using it again. Don't look for the card under Volumes, but where disks are listed, in which section you'll see Disk 0, Disk 1 and so on. Good luck
Try to format your card using SD Formatter https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_3/
Thanks for your replies. I will try it when i arrive to home from my work.

I had a 64GB SanDisk card. I bought it in December. Last week, somehow, it became write protected! I could not format it, either in the phone or Windows and could not write any data to it.
I phoned SanDisk and they said they would replace it. I managed to copy the data off it. I told them I couldn't send the card back to them, as I couldn't delete the data. They just asked me to photograph the card before and after I cut it in half. Now they are sending me a new card.
However, as there seem to be many problems with SanDisk cards, I will never use one again. I bought a Samsung 64GB instead.

Don't think its the phone, rather the SD card itself.
after getting a Samsung MicroSD card, there are no further problems.
the Sandisk card even has problem being detected by a windows 7 machine
Sandisk and Lexar are both garbage! They have the worst quality control ever. I don't even understand how they are so popular.
I have mailed to Sandisk support, they wanted photos of card with serial number and where i bought it.
than they want me to break my card and send again photos of broken card. Now, they will send me new card...
Had the problem myself with a 32 gb sandisk class 10. The phone said the card was damaged. I used the card adapter that came with the card and when inserted in my pc card reader, surprise: it worked like nothing happened! Saved data, format it with sdformater and i use it now.
I mention a kingston card adapter didn't do the job. It kept saying the card was not formatted.

Yes SD Formatter is kind a low level formatter. If flash storage is not physically damaged, SD Formatter solves most of the problems
defo not the phone but the card itself. Has happened to me more then once. Some card's are just ****
well from personal experience. I have to say first hand, i honestly think its the phone. the same thing happened to me. i have the att note 2 and a centon 32gb class4 card and out of nowhere, i get a message that my card was removed unexpectedly and now my card doesn't work on ANY DEVICE. I've tried multiple card readers, different software, different computers, even tried a mac, took my memory card to s specialist. NO DEVICE recognizes anything even connected. now i thought, ok maybe a faulty card but my wife with same phone and a sandisk 32gb class 10, SAME THING happened. my friend with a Kingston 32 gb and a sprint note 2, his memory card died as well. THREE different brands, and same type of phone. too much of a coincidence, could be it really cant handle 32gb. now im using i think 8 and its working fine for now.
google this problem and youll see its a bigger problem then you think. BACKUP YOUR DATA, i had to learn hard way. :crying:

Happened the same yesterday. Trascend class 4 32Gb SDHC. Completely dead.
Checked with a macbook, but the card isn't detected anymore.
In my opinion, the NoteII may haves some problem with sd card (maybe the voltage regulators aren't correctly programmed, or something similar).
But frankly, I do not have any proof to support this, just a sensation.
Cheers

I had the same thing happen to me. Put the card on a windows machine, and run
chkdsk /f
this makes the disk readable again. At least, it did for me. One problem was that even though the disk was readable, it seems some
files had errors, so the media scanner ran forever and used up lots of battery when the fixed card was used. I ended up not using that card any
more.
Same problem with me... 32gb microsd hc class 10 sandisk... In sn2 n7100 it says blank card or unsupported filesystem... In windows 7 laptop... It is not detected.... Chkdsk does not work in cmd prompt as the card is not detected... Unable to do anything with the card as it is not detected... Cannot format, cannot see in disk manager. Card is also not read in other phones.
PLEASE help as it had a lot of information and i have NO money to buy a new card.

[Q] Unexpected sd card unmount

I just bought an HTC one V.
As soon as I put my SD card, it says Unexpected sd card unmount.
My card is not dying or anything like that. It was working fine in my Samsung captivate glide, works perfect in my notebook and PC.
Card is a Kingston microSDhc class 4 16GB.
What can I do to fix this problem?
Already tried hard resseting my phone and no luck.
I experienced the same issue , faulty card. It was keeping unmont few times a day
Replaced SDHC works fine.

Micro SDHC UHS-I issues when using as an internal storage

Hi all,
I've been using my MOTO G5 for almost a month now and I'm pretty satisfied with it tho I've encountered some small annoyances with this phone.
But just yesterday I bought a Lexar MicroSDHC UHS-I 32GB for my phone and tried to format it as an internal storage replacing my Sandisk MicroSD Class 4.
After formatting it as an internal storage in my surprise the phone prompts that the memory card that I've used was "too slow" (considering this is a class 10) then reverted it back to portable storage, restarted my phone and then tried the same procedure but still the "too slow" message prompt was showing.
I felt frustrated with it, re-inserted my Sandisk MicroSD Class 4 then formatted it as my internal storage but the message "too slow" never prompt.
I just want to know if there is someone who had experience this unfortunate thing? what did you to solve this issue? or should I stick with my class 4 sd card or better yet stick with the 16gb internal storage of my phone?
Thanks!
yes, i tried to use an A-Data class 10 uhs-1 32 gb and i received the same message, but i thought my card is defect, it was used in my dvr camera and after 10 sec it stopping to recording, i think is broken. On the phone after 2 days, it blocked my phone, no one app working, everything was blocked. I remove the card and restart the phone and everything was fine. Sorry for my english, but i think that specs of the card its lies
Try running this app. Tests if the card is fake or not. There are quite a few around online that are have MUCH less than advertised capacity / speed and i'm pretty sure that the internal storage option on Nougat requires a proper fast card.
