Hello,
For some reason the phone turns off mobile data and WiFi the second I turn off the screen using the button.
The only way I can see this is that I have to keep the screen on or else uploads and downloads fail, and also that I cannot use AirDroid when the screen is off. I have checked that WiFi is set up to never be in sleeping state regardless of phone state (Settings -> Wireless -> Advanced -> Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep).
My Galaxy Nexus is running the stock version of Jellybean, does anyone have a clue why this is happening?

Before I start I want to make this clear
Yes, my wifi policy is on "never" and I have pressed menu>save rather than just exiting out.
[Q] When my screen shuts off, after around 10-20 minutes my wifi disconnects (i can tell by checking router status on my comptuer to see attached devices) and when I turn on my phone and unlock it will go from 3g > wifi right away. The reason I want wifi on constantly is because the wifi radio uses less power than the 3g radio.
Now I'm aware that some roms have an option to turn off radio for 3g/wifi when not in use and will turn them on when the system needs to update/sync. However, my wifi is set to "never" sleep and there is no "always enable mobile data" option on my rom. I'm wondering why it will disconnect my wifi when my policy is set to never.
ROM:
MIUI 0.12.11 (0.12.3 fixed the wifi disconnect problem, but 0.12.11 is a newer rom)
bcblend 2.6.32.25 cfs stable (SBC custom)
Hi,
I was wondering if there is a fix that when you have wifi turned on and are listening for example to a stream it will stop as soon as the display turns off.
With the Transformer Pad this is not the case for example.
May be there is a fix?

I know if you go into wifi settings and hit the menu key you can get an adavced mode and adjust the wifi policy there. A lot of roms I have seen on various phones have it set to turn wifi off when the screen goes off. I set mine to never turn wifi off and no more problems.
Sent from my G2 running the random rom of the day.
Is there a way to shut your screen off but let apps/wifi (ie airsync, syncing your music files through wifi) run with your display off. Currently shutting off my screen while airsync is syncing files makes my screen blink on and off. I was wondering if its possible to just shut my screen and have airsync run in the background.
Bonus: How would I set a timeout for the wifi?
Anyone have a quick solution to this?
For Wifi Go to Wifi Settings>(Press Menu) Advanced> Keep Wifi On During Sleep> Never > Wifi Idle timeout, and set to what you wish.

*FYI my M8 is not rooted*
Recently, my screen has been staying on constantly, not even dimming, unless I turn it off manually. A reboot temporarily fixes the problem.
I thought it was Tasker to start with but after disabling it, turning off all my profiles and turning them on one by one until the problem reoccurred (which it didn't when turning profiles on individually), the screen began to stay on again. Could this be a wake lock? I am not rooted so I can't use wakelock detector.
If you're not rooted, try the pc version of this to check wakelocks..

Hi I have a Galaxy Ace 2 and I have the fantastic ROM from 'Ace2Nutzer Kernel 151108 CM11 150714'.
My question is with regards to getting notifications while using my home Wi-Fi under these conditions:
Connect to WiFi network, then turn off your screen, walk away from your router/outside (to lose connection), then come back inside. It doesn't notify you of new emails/viber until you turn your screen back on. (Only when you turn your screen on does the WiFi detect and phone beeps with notifications showing).
Why? It is as though the phone does not detect your WiFi when in sleep?
