I just bought my new Galaxy Note 2 yesterday and it's amazing so far, but I noticed an issue:
Whenever I take a picture with the front facing camera, the result of the shot seems to have very low brightness. The camera seems fine before you take the picture, but once taken it seems much darker when viewing it in the Gallery. The picture resolution and quality is set to the highest available. Is this normal or is this a specific hardware issue with my FF camera?
Anyone?
The front camera defaults to 1.3 mpx... Make sure you use it to 1.9 mpx

i bought my galaxy note 2 like a month ago.. i am pretty happy with the phone. good battery life, good sound quality and the screen is so nice but recently i found out that i have very poor picture quality. i get a lot of noise in my pictures and with a little amount of zoom it is noticable that all the details are blurry.... .... my gf has a galaxy note 1 and her camera quality is way better then mine :S can anyone help me out why is this happening? fyi i always used to take photos on auto but now im trying out with different moods but with no satisfactory results. :S :S is there any way to know what camera you have with any app or something? please help me out :S..
i am attaching some photos that i took via my phone camera and uploaded them via instagram
have u clean the lens and if cover over the lens? try take some outdoor photo under sunlight, just to compare
before take those photos, clean the data and cache for camera app to make sure all setting is default
I have also noticed decrease in photo quality from note 1 to note 2 although note 1 was slower but quality was much higher.
Sometimes I feel like clicking photos from an old 2 MP camera.
Lowering ISO helps a bit but picture are darker. I am gonna try another rom today so I will check the difference in camera quality.

Goto settings/application manager under the 'all' tab look for camera ....there you can clear data and cache for an app.

i did that still no improvements thank you for your suggestions though.
I realize that too
I also feel that my girlfriend note 1 camera is much more clearer and better in taking photos. Much brighter in her screen when we take photos together under the same lightning. Why is our camera so bad? Im not satisfied with this camera. Any help on this devs?:crying:
Two things, as I kept saying and saying,
1- The default ISO of the stock camera application is too high. Result- blurry photos. So either manually decrease it or use third party app like Camera Zoom FX.
2- The LED flash is terrible. In dark you will notice that it ain't strong as it should be. Under low light you should use 'low light' mode, always, that'll cause higher ISO photos causing grainy shots however.
The quality of the Camera sensor is below average overall, so don't expect great results.
Personally I have my D90 and 550D for basic stuffs, that's why I don't give a damn about this crappy camera, but I feel sad for the people who are forced to use this camera often.

The above post is the truth.
Overall, indoors performance is not all that good, except from low light mode which works nicely, but I find outdoor shooting to trump all other mobile cameras I've ever tried, by a huge margin.

It's the Note 2's camera sensor that the problem, not the camera application. You could just use any application from the Play Store.

I agree that the camera sensor itself is a problem. Before I bought my n7100 i hade S2 and it's a huge difference between the camera quality of those two phones. The S2 camera was absoluttely amazing. Best photos ever taken by me with a phone. I was very dissapointed about the quality of note 2 camera, i tried a lot of "fixes" but no result. I hope Note 3 will have a better camera, at least same quality as S2, in fact, same quality as S2 camera will be more than enought.
I had a Note 1 for over a year and couldn't be happier with that camera but the camera on my Note 2 seems to be hit or miss (mostly miss).
I'm running Omega ROM 11. I don't recall if the camera had a problem on the factory ROM since I installed Omega within a few days. However, I have noticed that pretty much ANY indoor photo with moderate light is grainy. When I view the full size on my PC it becomes even more evident. If I take an outdoor photo, it looks great. Likewise, if I use the flash indoors it's a 50/50 shot if it will be grainy or not. If it's not grainy, the light seems to cast a blue tint to the photo (think indoor fluorescent lighting). I experienced none of these issues on the Note 1.
I've attached a couple photos. They probably aren't the best examples but you can see the graininess of the non-flash vs the flash photo. I have some ones that are much worse but they are of me  I should add that the camera lens is clean and I am using the Camera app (no third party cameras).a
Has anyone else experienced this problem? Any tips or suggestions on how I can improve this?
Lower the ISO.

Has anyone tried the front camera? Compared to the 2012? Do you have any samples?
I have both devices, but my new device front camera is extremely blurry. The new device is also lower resolution and less inherent sharpening in the image than the older model, but mainly it seems very blurry and doesn't focus.
I'm hoping this is an isolated case, but I haven't been able to find any sample images or discussion.
The new Nexus 7's front camera is much better than last year's model. If it comes out blurry you should return it and see if the quality is the same.

Replacement is OK
I received a replacement and both the front and rear cameras work fine on the replacement.
When I take pictures with my new Samsung Galaxy ACE 2 (few weeks old),
Pictures with camera focus setting to macro, then it take sharp photos
but when I set it to auto-focus, the borders are sharp, but the image in the center is out of focus and blurry.
When I capture a movie, the same problem occurs, the middle is out of focus and the borders look sharp.
Is this a bad camera module? is there any possibility to tweak the focus of the camera? I've already upgraded the firmware to Jelly Bean, but no improvements. I am thinking about replacing the camera module, or buy another phone.
I read some one had same problem with galaxy ace.
My auto-focus is working fine in all of video, back and front cam.
No noticeable difference to using macro mode either.
So would think u've got a faulty module then

When I take photo close to the object it's sharp in the middle, if the object distance is more than 50 cm away, then center is out of focus but borders are sharp.
So it's probably a focus problem of the camera module, is there any solution to adjust the focus point of the camera module, or just replacement?
Solved the problem.
I opened the ace 2, removed the back,
cleaned the camera lens on the print board. cleaned with alcohol
that fixed the problem :good: photo's now!
Hi all,
I have recently bought the Samsung Galaxy Note II and I really am disappointed with the camera quality of this phone. The pictures taken from my Galaxy S2 were much better compared to this.
General Problems:
1. Grainy,Shaky and Blurry images
2. Auto focus not effective all the time
3. Photos in good light conditions are also grainy.
Is there any mod or anything with which i can improve my camera "image" quality. Please help. I couldn't find any mod on the website till now.
I am using note2 from 6 months. But I have not faced any problem regarding camera.
Even its camera is much better then S2.
Check out this thread. All photos are posted from note2. And all are very nice.
There are many camera apps in play store. You can try any one and check.

what firmware are you on?
Maybe its because tou had ISO on auto. It tend to pock a high value for auto. Have you try manually set iso to 100.
Ofc it work best in bright conditions or else iso=100 will make the photo darkwr than usual.

Or maybe, just maybe, you tend to notice the noise and etc more now cuz of the size of the screen(?)

this is not dslr ok?
try taking picture in a place where have a good sunlight..
IINM bigger ISO,more grains in the picture...
Post some taken pictures, maybe we can tell if we experience the same, or if it is something strange om your device (camera/focus broken?)
Try cleaning the lens before taking pics. ..it tends to get smudgy. .. silly but true

I was using Nokia N8-00 before I get N7100. Back in those days I can't stand symbian but god knows I miss the camera of N8. I can't say that there is a distortion or anormality on pictures taken from Note 2 but simply I can't satisfied. I hope that Note 3 would have better camera quality.
The biggest problem with our camera is that the cover over the lense is always 'smudgy', usually with greasy residue from your hands. Make it a habit to very gently wipe this clean on your shirt before taking any pictures, even the slightest bit of cloudiness will result in crappy pictures.
All phones suck at taking pictures indoors, outside they are all generally pretty good. If you want DSLR quality then pack around one of those monsters everywhere you go - otherwise, clean your lense and try to rely on adequate lighting.

I agree the camera quality and focus does not focus correctly and picture image is not sharp. My HTC Thunderbolt took great photos and it was more than 2 1/2 years old also had a 8 megapixel camera. Not sure who made the lens for Samsung and not sure if that is the issue. But I can tell you this some people think the images are great. They are not camera people the clarity and focus are not right.
