The ICS keyboard is sweet looking I can agree with that. I have big hands too I think that's why Swype helps me out, plus you can theme it to look like the ICS keyboard or the Stock keyboard

I use the Gingerbread keyboard from the market and love it, simple, easy to use
I love the gingerbread keyboard. But there really isnt a best, its what you feel comfortable using.
Swype beta!
Swyped from mah 3vo!
The Hacker's Keyboard especially useful if you use ConnectBot for SSH access. Yes it has working Tab/Ctrl/Esc keys and arrow keys.
Dont forget the dictionaries, they are free too.
I use the stock android keyboard most of the time, or thumb keyboard when I want to switch it up. I can put TONS of skins on thumb keyboard, so it keeps it interesting.
Swype beta FTW!

I use SwiftKey. Have been using for 2 years and the nice thing about the keyboard is when I flash a new rom, the language database is stored on the sdcard. Great keyboard

[Q] Juggernaut v4.1 - How can I put Swype Back?

I just bought 3 of these SGS 2's from T-Mobile the other day, and really like the Juggernaut ROM the best so far.
After installing it on my wifes phone she wants Swype back, but I cannot get it to work. I copied the apk from the backup, and installed it which worked fine, but it force closes anytime I try and use it.
Any help is appreciated.
Go to the Swype website and join the beta program. They will email you an installer app you use to install Swype and update it when a new beta version is released.
The beta sucks... Do you know how to get the original back?

Wait you serious?
The official sucks lol. The layout of the keyboard is horrible.
The beta is 100 times better
Original swype download links are posted here.
Good Luck..
I had the same question when I flashed Juggernaut V4.1 and this thread helped me.
I signed up for the swype beta on thier website and installed it very easily to my device. It works as good if not better than the one that orginally came on this device.
The only 2 differences that I even notice are the swype trace color ( anyone know how to change this color?) and the layout of the numbers when you cange the keyboard over to symbols ( which are more like a keyboard and less like a phone dialer).
Does anyone know how to change those two features?
The only way would be the beta. The new Dragon speech engine is great and really accurate.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Juggernaut 4.1 with ICS Ultimate Edition mod.
+1 for the beta.

Sammy keyboard sucks!

Swipe style typing is horrible & predictive text is poor to say the least. Anyone have better experience ?
Second that. It is complete crap. Realized that pretty quickly. Installed Swype beta the day after I got the phone and haven't looked back.

I love Swype but since I just got the phone figured I'd try stock keyboard. It was unbearable!

Definately a giant fail for Sammy, the kb blows. I've been using Swift 3 and loving it. I tried stock as well but couldn't deal with it for more than 1 week.
I agree the default keyboard is horrible. I've been using SwiftKey 3 and it's great, I highly recommend it.
Definitely agree, probably the worst keyboard ever.

I've been using AnySoftKeyboard for years since it supports foreign language keyboards. Also, I prefer peck style keyboards to swype style.

SwiftKey 3. Get it
The only, albeit strange, reasons that keep me using the samsung keyboard over swype is the haptic feedback and the typing sounds. The haptic feel of the swype keyboard doesn't feel as precise as the sammy one no matter what i set the length to. And don't get me started on the irritating key press sound...
Jelly Bean keyboard port FTW!
Jelly Bean keyboard is the best keyboard I've ever used, Swiftkey and Swype included.

I use SwiftKey 3.01. Customizable in skins, portrait/landscape keyboard height, typing style, and keyboard layout. It also supports the use of up to three languages and their keyboards/dictionaries at once, learns from Facebook/Twitter/Gmail/RSS/Reader/SMS messages, and it is scarily accurate in predictions.

+1!!!
I gave up on Swype when Dragon took over the speech recognition instead of passing it to Google (which is loads better than any other dictation.) I tried SwiftKey for a long time to give the prediction time to learn about my style but I never ended up liking it as much as Swype. Then I tried the stock ICS keyboard and was very impressed. I could type super fast (faster than I could Swype) without paying close attention with great results and the post-typing word correction tools worked really well for when my typing was so bad that the keyboard couldn't figure me out. The JB keyboard continues to improve the stock ICS keyboard experience.

it is just like swype, just looks like the normal default android keyboard. i do like how the word pops up while you are swyping it. seemed buggy on literom, would hang a lot when backspacing
That was neat. It's nice to see Google incorporate stuff like this straight into android. Likewise to the new quick toggles. However, I ran into a couple freezes that were bad enough to ruin the experience. Possibly because I'm still running ics.
Yeah its probably why. Made for JB.

This looks to be the same port I posted about here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1940677&page=31 (which admittedly belonged here and not there.) I love this keyboard and have it running on my ICS tablet just fine. I have tried this on two different Captivate Glides running CM10 beta 1, UCALJ3 by dbrannon79 and the UCALG leak with stock kernel as well as the lite kernel and on all of them it will run for a minute then freeze.
Is this running stably for anyone? I'd love to figure out why this won't work.
probably due to the samsung integration in the os ... u'll notice that it doesnt freeze in every app.... it freezes in stock sms app ... but also in handscent :s ... makes it kinda useless in ICS for me ....
Safe to flash over CM10 beta..?

I am having few issues with this keyboard sometimes..
Suddenly after few strokes the keyboard vanishes.. Do not get any error message..
Tapping near the blinking cursor also does not work.. I need to wait atleast 20-30 seconds for the keyboard to re-appear..
Not able to use Swype or Swype Beta Also.. Keyboard is crashing..
After downloading the zip and moving it to the phone, what exactly needs to be done? I figured it would just be an .apk file to install rather there are other folders as well.. Thank you!
perfect
This works perfectly on my Samsung galaxy s4 M919v and galaxy s2 t989D. Thanks alot dude . Don't forget the wipe dalvik cache!!!!!

Well first off you need to have a rooted device.
Step 2 u need to go into your recovery mode which is cmw or tdmb.
Then like any other file you are going to install it but not as an apk but as a zip file. So go to the location where you have the zip file downloaded in the install menu then just flash it. If you have any problems message me.
Great!
Thank you dude for the sharing!

Swype keyboard with Jelly Bean update

I just received my Jelly Bean update and I am thrilled. The phone is faster and much smoother, Love it. I also noticed the update came with Swype keyboard and the stock Samsung keyboard received a swype update as well.
I had previously downloaded the swype downloader app before I had received the update, did the Swype update come with the Jelly Bean update? I am not talking about the swype update that the Samsung keyboard had received but a seperate Swype Keyboard.
So I have two Swype keyboards, one that was updated from the Samsung keyboard and the seperate Swype keyboard. I'm confused just reading back to myself what I just wrote, I hope anyone who reads this can understand it.
Love that Jelly Bean with plenty of Butter.

Yea, you get Swype with the ota jelly bean update

Thanks for the imfo. The stock Samsung keyboard also has swype built into it, never used it because I always used my paid Swiftkey keyboard. Thought I would do some experimenting and was amazed to find that the stock Samsung keyboard also had swype built into it. It works pretty good as well.
Thanks again,

The Samsung keyboard has something similar to Swype functionality, but trust me, it's no Swype. Swype is just better since it's been out for like 4-5 years? More time to work out the kinks and have better interactions. Except it doesn't scan my contacts name as well as it use to... eh that's probably why it is beta.
Fix one thing break another.
