Do your PC has the LG pecan drivers? If not, hang around and you will soon find. Install them and it should be the end of your problems =D

to see your phone you must mount the sd card. and you need the sdk tool on your computer.
please correct me if im wrong.........any one?
It might be a problem with your usb cable. Are you using the cable that came with the epic? If so get a new one the one that comes with the epic is crap. Try monoprice.com they have good cables and great prices.

Try rooting without your SD card in the phone. unplug the USB, take your SD card out, plug in the usb, run the root.
See if that works.

phone usb not recognised.

Im trying to connect my phone to my computer but when I connect the usb it doesnt allow me to mount the sd card. It just charges but nothing appears in the naotification bar. It used to work fine but now it doesnt let me connect my sd card.
Same problem here, it used to work... but not now. I tryed to uninstall and install again companion but did not solve it
I know that this ain't the solution but you could look into Wifi Syncr as a means to transfer files to your phone.
I can not mount my sd-card with Ubuntu, do I need some drivers and stuff?

Edit: He he he, I fixed it myself by changing to MSC USB-connection.
Go to setting>sonyericsson>connecntivity>usb connection mode change it to mass storage mode.then ur phone will prompt u usb connect to memory card, just select connect.
Happy try.

access micro sd card via win xp

got my Galaxy s3 yesterday, load all apps, then usb drivers from samsung, rooted w/ gs3 qcom toolkit and still cant open my ext micro sd card in windose for transfer of files. windose doesnt see it in explorer, any ideas. card worked fine on gs2 and still can reads good in thumb adapter thxs
When you plug it in, do you get a notification on the phone about USB connection? You need to select mass storage mode. If not you need to update the drivers on your computer.

Connect thru Kies Wifi, after 5 days of trying to make the drivers work , i gave up.... Use Kies or remove the card and read it with a card reader.

Driver issue. Follow these instructions, just change the kindle stuff to yours. It will work. Make sure to update the USB driver in SDK, and check it a second time in the SDK to be sure it updated. And remember to reboot after installing the new driver, it won't work otherwise.

[Q] Issue accessing phone via usb

Earlier today I tried to access my files on my phone connected to my pc via usb and my computer doesn't seem to recognize that a usb device is connected. All it does is just charge the phone. I've tried every port on my PC and still no luck. I have to remove my microsd card from my phone and insert it to my Pc using an adapter in order to transfer files.

Do you have USB debugging disabled?
Also, what OS is your friend using? Unfortunately it seems Samsung has switched the GS3 and GNII to Media Transfer Protocol (MTP) instead of USB Mass Storage (UMS), which is way faster and more compatible than MTP. Some people have issues with their PC not installing drivers for MTP devices, and that may be why you're not able to access your phone from your computer.

Follow up on USB Host
I too am using an HTC One X running 4.1.1
I've got an OTG cable and have tried connecting a thumb drive and card reader. Both work. The drives are visible and accessible on the phone. That's USB storage which isn't the same as USB Host, but it shows that the port is active.
I can plug in the dongle for a wifi mouse, it too is recognised and I'm able to use the mouse to navigate around on the phone. This, as far as I understand, is actually USB Host in action.
The problem arises when I try to connect a DSLR and use a camera controller app like Helicon Remote or DSLR Dashboard. The app doesn't recognise that the camera is connected.
What's the difference between the wifi mouse and the camera?
Thoughts appreciated. Thanks.
In fact, there is a problem that any USB storage device on the phone creates the following folder structure:
/ storage / usb / Android / data / com.htc.album / .thumbnails /
Then create multiple copies, can be found in the internal memory, same-path, including folders that contain thumbnails, but empty.
So because of these being used constantly sticks, so when the capture traces of the settings, then any writes to the phone to choose from, but it can not happen, but the capture button will be disabled, but only while again not I step into the menu.
The above mentioned directories erased because the phone reboot always create them again.
If the phone was not rebooted since I've used it and the flash drive has been physically removed it, then if I connect again, it appears no file until you restart the phone.
