Hello all,
Was curious if anyone was able to access their external SD in CWMR6 Touch. I'm currently using a 64GB microSDXC which works fine in CM10 and the ICS leak -- it is recognized by Android. But in CWRM6T, whenever I try to install a ZIP from external_sd, it always says, "No files found." I have plenty.
I'm just trying to figure out if maybe it's a capacity issue and that CWMR only supports up to 32GB -- or if it's an outright bug?
If anyone has any luck with other CWMR's, let me know what version works. I just want to be able to use my external SD, since space is limited on the internal flash.

Formatted as exFAT or FAT32?
Seems to me I saw a reference in a thread elsewhere that something CW/CWM/CWMR (I forget which) only supports FAT32.
Search on exFAT / FAT32 / 64GB and you'll hit the threads.

I checked out all of those articles, and turns out... my microSD is FAT32 already. Just in case, I downloaded and used a few tools that others recommend for formatting the card again... and still no luck. It works fine in CM10 -- so my guess is that it is an issue with CWM.
So at present, CWM does not seem to work well with 64GB microSD cards -- a good question would be as to whether or not CWM even works with external SD -- nobody has really been answering.
I'm actually talking with the original CWM builder (pre-Aquethys) for our device and will probably be taking over his work on maintaining it and making sure it works. Just need to get some time and Virtual Machines set up/running.
As far as I know it does not work with our device on external memory. I am using the Version 5.0 and My 32GB sd card is not seen. Have not tried the 6.0 version of CWM but I believe that it does not work as well.
Hey,
I'm using a GS3 with a 64GB Sandisk card and from what i realise is that CWM does not work with FAT32.
My card was working in CWM with exFAT since July (also running Omega ROM) and 2 days ago i installed Siyah kernel to facilitate dual booting. I installed Resurrection Remix ROM as a 2nd ROM and this corrupted my sd card (apparently later ROMS and CM10 based do not work with exFAT). I then fomatted my sd card to FAT32 so as to be compatible with both ROMs but now it is NOT working with CWM.
I removed the Resurrection ROM and reformatted to exFAT, works in CWM. Tried again with FAT32 format, no luck in CWM.
Just my experience and 3 cents.

Excellent report! Thanks for the heads up.
Could you report this somewhere in a development forum?
My WAG (Wild Ass Guess) is that the code assumes >= 32GB = exFAT. I also assume that removing such an assumption should be nearly trivial - given that FAT32 code will already be present, it just has to be called upon, instead. (Once whichever file system is mounted, the current code should be able to continue to run without modification.)

Thanks. I'm kinda new to XDA and don't know where to post my findings. Always stuck with the Omega ROM thread and haven't explored much. It's because i'm having this ext sd card issue i stumbled on this post thru Google.
I might be wrong because I'm too lazy to check. But the external card that its accessing in cwmr is actually the sd partition on your phone. So if you put something in that partition it'll show up in cwmr

Team, I have successfully rooted my slide. Im using the original stock ROM
Im using the following:
Firmware Version: 2.1 -update1
Kernel Version: 2.6.29 - 5f8ed145
[email protected] 18-2 #1
Build Number: 1.18.531.1 CL164069 test-keys
Now for some reason im running out of internal ROM space to install apps. (I am down to 14 mb) When I go to my t-mobile app and choose "My Device" it tells me the internal memory is like 145mb and that I have used up most of it
I know this phone with OTA was suppose to have like double the ROM.
What can I do to double it or unlock the additional internal ROM
Any one who can guide me to a forum or Wiki on "How to" would be great
Any one who wants to share additional steps would be also great.
please be advised that i did attempt to use the new Cyanogenmod and even with that ROM installed I still only have 145mb app space.
any tips and tricks would be great as well
Thanks to everyone who helps.
[Q] = question
questions go where?

Seems logical.

Here is a link to the newest rooted OTA. It is 100% stock Slide Espresso rooted with apps2sd (ext style)
If you want apps2sd to free up some space you need to partition your sd card to have a ext partition on it. Then just flash ROM I linked you to. It will automagically wipe your phone during install so as always make sure you do a nandroid backup.
Here is a link to the thread where you can find everything you need to know about this ROM. I do not recommend flashing the add-on pack. There are a few things broken in it.

Awesome....I downloaded the ROM and updated to it, but still not getting the A2SD
I even tried to use "Rom Manager" to partition the memory card but its not working. It just wipes everything and it reboots on the part that says "partitioning SD..." but after the reboot nothing happens....so my question is....Once i have installed the ROM...what do I do now to get the A2SD?....whats the first step? and what Ext number is it? Ext 2 or Ext 3?
please shine some light, thanks
You need to get the ubuntu live CD and partition your sdcard from there...google ubuntu and download the latest ubuntu desktop image, burn it to a cd and then reboot, boot into the ubuntu disk and go to system/administration/gparted and partition your sdcard...ext3 is best...
Then on your slide:
go into a terminal and type su then hit enter. Then type
chka2sd
And hit enter. It'll tell you whether or not your apps are on sd and give you some options. The one you need to do is
a2sd install
You can also type
a2sd help
For a list of other commands like moving dalvik-cache to sd, etc.

Hi,
This recovery image is based on twrp with multiboot feature on Galaxy S3.
I did this on Galaxy S3 Bell model but it as been reported to work on Tmobile Model ( by saranhai, thank's to him )
( original thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2577211 )
Please follow exactly the operations in videos examples to avoid any risk.
Very important recommendations :
- BACKUP all your data first !
- Use only your internal if you have at least 4G available ( 7GB recommended because img files are sparsed but if you fill all the rom, it will take 7GB )
- Use your external sd card only if :
- you have at least 7 GB free
- your filesystem is vfat ( exfat, ntfs not supported for the moment ) - Very very important : when you use "set rom" option, you have to see "command succeded" at the end of the output. If not, don't go further and reboot.
- start by playing with recovery roms ( check video ) before testing full rom
- creating rom on external vfat can take about 15 minutes (to create img files). Be patient...
The method used is an adapted kexec-hardboot method created by mkasic (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1266827), but with a complete replacement of kexec by a new userspace program I did ( kload-hardboot ) and a very small kernel patch ( hardboot-reserve ). Note also that this adapted method is easily portable to any android devices.
I will publish sources when cleaned.

I can personally confirm that this DOES indeed work! I currently have loaded up 3 different ROMs, and they eaach boot no problem, loving it! Great job and hats off to the developer! :good:

I assume this takes up a lot of space though?
I was able to flash the recovery via Odin. Now what? Do I need to reinstall my ROM to have it work for multi-boot? Or can I have it recognize my existing ROM?
Also, if I make changes to the ROM, will the multi-boot functionality know that I've made changes or do I need to backup?
Thanks.

Amazing how booting back and forth is just like rebooting your phone, in terms of their responsiveness. I thought there would be some sort of noticeable lag on each boot. It does use about 7GB like OP says. Pretty cool though, to be able to go back and forth between stock tw to ASOB in so little time. App works like a charm too. This is great, thanks for creating and sharing.

Multiboot rom keeps changes. The last rom you were running is your internal (it will boot on every reboot). Follow the third video exactly and you will see, and make sure to read the OP again.

Oh, I think I get it now. So, my current ROM (CM11) is still stored in the original ROM partitions, but selecting a different ROM to boot is pulling it from the internal SD card. So, I could boot a secondary ROM (say TW) or a third ROM (like SlimKAT) but then choose Reboot to get back into CM11. Am I correct?
Yes
Tomb77: Thanks for the clarification.
This recovery ROCKS! Not only can I use a TW ROM for WIFI calling when needed, I can also test other ROMs without having to wipe/format/etc. Awesome work!!:good:
Will we have to create the multiroms again after updates for mulitirom twrp? And, can we flash over an already created multirom for an update on the rom?
Edit: So I was able to update my multirom rom. I got hung up on symlink... I did a battery pull, eventually booted the multirom rom and it was updated. been playing with it for a couple hours and there doesn't seem to be any instability issues. Thought I would through that out there.

VFAT, Same as FAT32? If not, how do I get the external sd in VFAT?
Well I bought a 16gig sd and it appears to be corrupt of something. I can format it and then put it in my phone and it just freaks out. Put my original 2 gig card in and everything is fine again.
---------- Post added at 05:57 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:55 PM ----------
Also another question. Each ROM will take 7 gigs, or is that just the image file that all the ROM's run on?

I am using FAT32. I think FAT32 is an extension of VFAT so it shouldn't matter. Could someone verify? It's working for me and I didn't change the format.
I read it was the same... Just wanted to make sure.
I did buy a faulty SD card. Constantly disconnects corrupting files.

Yes, ~7GB if installed on external vfat, a lot less if installed internally as img files holding filesystems are sparsed. Say ~2G max after installation
But I admit that 7GB hardcoded is too much.
Next version will add possibility to custom sizes of /system, /data and /cache. For example, a light rom like Dandroid4.7 can be installed on ~1.8G ( 1G system, 500M data, 200M cache).
PS : for people who want do do it now manually, it is easy : just connect shell with adb when in recovery and edit values (in hexa) /sbin/create_rom.sh of SIZECACHE,SIZESYS and SIZEDATA. Without rebooting, you will be able to create new roms with new size under twrp menus.
Philippe,
Been running this recovery for over ten days now. I have to say that this is very awesome, it works great. About the only issue I had once is a multiboot rom not deleting for a couple of tries. I am surprised that it seems like very few people are trying this out here.
Yes you can increase your internal storage to install more apps and games..

I didn't meant to mock anyone... I was really surprised.... And yeah I agree I forgot its 8gb I am going to try it right now.... But how does that works... I mean y Xolo kept the 6gb away from us???
The manufacturer design phones considering average users, I mean normal users even don't know what is internal and external storage. On standard basis out of 8 GB they kept 2 for App storage and remaining 4-5 GB for phone storage like camera images, download, media etc. Its idle if user even don't use Ext SD card also.
This mod is actually increasing your app storage in order to use more and less around 400 MB for user storage. Here you have to use Ext SD card. Any way...Best of Luck
any hack to get me 2 GB os /system than data or even 1 GB of system? it has under 750 MB as of now

In Step 2 it is told to RESET The phone. Is it really required to factory reset? Or can we proceed without it?
Yes it's important. The reason is your existing storage I.e. internal storage will be formatted and resized . It's better to reset as it will not create other issues. It is recommended to take backup as you can restore actual files backup I.e. images, media, docs of internal storage. And any other applications will not be affected.
Best of Luck
Not working for me

Nice one Anan! Keep up
Nice, well done bro
Nice work, congrats!
Muchas gracias bro!
Excelente tu trabajo!
Beautiful rom, runs a bit on the warmer side though
Beautiful ROM without a doubt but it would be nice to get some configuration or something to lower the temperature when loading since I cannot do something that consumes resources like playing while charging the device since the temperature shoots up and the load stops.
Wow! Nice update! Keep up the good work Anan!
Nice
Work bro!✌
Sound Issue
I have installed this ROM for three days, this ROM is really awsome. But here I found a problem. sometime the phone speaker won't work, it stopped working accidentally, the only way to make the speaker working i have to shut the phone down, let it off for a minute and power it on, the speaker back work again.
good job thanks
Hi ALL,
where's the dowload link pls?
Ths
Edit: saw it now !
Nice
Work bro!✌
So, my wifi was never stable when I was using any version of this rom. I say any because I have tried them all, used patches when available; I remember that in V2 (I think) one fix was changing the MAC adress or something like that, nothing worked for me. But recently I observed that no one reported the same problem I have, so I thought I shall be the first to say it. I don't think it is something about my device or my Wi-Fi, as I had no problems in other roms and the other devices I own are working fine. Is there still something I can try or am I hopeless?

Did you store the ROM file on the internal storage when flashing it via TWRP, I found some problem when i flash the ROM from the SD card, then i copy the ROM to the internal storage and reflash the ROM the problem gone
after using it a few days i feel some microfreezes in the interface, especialy in the poweramp spectrum visualizations. also in the keyboard. the letters are typed a bit late. milliseconds but i feel them in the vibration feedback. alao the hearth sensor does not work in the shealth app.

Yes, I did flash the rom from both SD card and internal storage, using the official TWRP and the modified one provided by the developer, but none solved it. Also, in case I got it wrong, did you mean clean flashing the ROM from sd card, and then dirty flashing it from internal storage, or just clean flashing from internal storage?
laggy rom dont like it. i have two S7's one with stock other with this rom. stock much quicker. this rom chrome not smooth scrolling. also facebook app look different and not responsive. i compared side by side to stock both with updated apps from play store. disappointed because android 10 seems a lot better than 8.

I mean :
first, get into TWRP mode, and format data, write yes to confirm
after that advanced wipe cache, dalvik, system etc including internal storage.
then copy the ROM from your PC into the internal storage.
back on your phone, in TWRP flash the ROM that stored in the internal storage

LineageOS is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 12 (R), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
LineageOS is based on the Android Open Source Project with extra contributions from many people within the Android community. It can be used without any need to have any Google application installed. You will need to provide your own Google Applications package (gapps). LineageOS does still include various hardware-specific code, which is also slowly being open-sourced anyway.
Base source code is available in the LineageOS Github repo. And if you would like to contribute to the project, please visit our Gerrit Code Review.

I'm having issues with split screen functionality.
Haptics click, but it does not split the app into side-by-side mode.
Tried changing "Force activities to be resizeable" in dev options, but still didn't help.
Do I dirty flash or wipe/format? Also what gapps or is it included in build?
Wipe/format on my install.
Gapps is included in the unofficial download link.
I also got MindtheGapps (12.1.0) working on the official build.

Did u experience any storage issues when formatting sdcard to internal storage if u did? On first setting up after installing LOS 12, cause I had apps closing had to sign in everytime opening up social media apps and my gallery wouldn't load photos, now after just using sdcard as portable storage everything works great can't move apps though but that's no problem, 32gb of storage is not much but still no complaints here, awesome rom as always

Well, I always use the sd card as portable/external storage, I never used it as internal storage. My z3 play has 64GB of storage, so, I never needed that extra space as internal storage.

I clean installed and formated my sd card to internal. Yes its being weird for sure. Im able to move apps to the sd card and that works fine. Some apps werent starting, until the build today. But not everything working like before.
A good example is VLC wont build the audio library. I have pulled from my NAS to my sd card. The app keeps scanning but never finishes. a couple times Ive booted it up and all the VLC settings are wiped.
I did notice at reports android reports the sd card as missing

Maybe your SDCard is failing or even fake?
Check it by using software like h2testw -- there are a few android apps either, search for SD Card Test or similar, do a full write/read test (not speed test).
I had a fake SDCard in the past (back then I had android 4); the card keep auto ejecting and sometimes corrupting data. The h2testw shown that the 16GB card has in fact only 2GB, any data written beyond that 2GB was lost (the file itself appears in file explorer but the content was garbage).
There's a bug that still persist on the latest (today's) update: when I receive a call from someone in my contact's list, it does not show the contact name, just its full number.
edit: I tried also with the google dialer and the bug happens the same.
Lineage 19.1 official, with mindthegapps.
Sd card- SanDisk 128GB Extreme microSDXC UHS-I
The phone and sd card were both wiped in the upgrade from 18.1 to 19.1. Then I wiped it again to make sure i didn't do something wrong when i first saw issues.
I'm pretty sure my SD card isn't fake. I bought it from the Sandisk store on amazon for the appropriate price. Been using it for a 1-2 years with this phone. At one point it had 32GB of crap on there. right now its sitting at 19GB.
With the card formatted as internal, and everything moved to the card with the popup that asks if you want to do that.
Pictures becomes unreadable after the camera gets shut off. The pictures are still listed but its all gray. VLC really doesnt want to build its library, and most times opens like its a first time start, Twitch doesnt want to retain its login info.
Using the files app to navigate to play the music on the sd card directly doesn't work either.
Running the app True sd card capacity shows even writing 1GB of data causes the temp file to be 99.5% corrupted.
Update: After I had a bit of time. I reformatted the phone again. Keeping the sd card as portable works fine and the Sdcard can pass those write tests uo to 16GB woth 0% corruption. So I guess something is wonky with the internal formatting encrytion?

Did you install GApps?
GApps are the Google Apps, they have to be installed inside the system. For this rom only MindTheGapps is supported, see more at https://wiki.lineageos.org/gapps
Hey, I've been trying out the rom the last week, gotta say it runs pretty good overall, however I've been having issues with the usb-c port, any time I attach a device like a DAC for my headphones or a usb stick, the entire system does not seem to know how to handle it, specially the DAC, it kinda detects its presence, but it refuses to send audio through there, this was not an issue in the havoc os rom years ago, any idea how to fix it? If you need logs of anything just tell me.
With the recent weekly updates has anyone tried formating sd to internal?
I havent seen any updates to the change log about it specifically. Was what I was experiencing a known bug?
Woohoo!
I could never get VoLTE with my Tracfone/Verizon sim on 18.1. Just upgraded to 19.1 and VoLTE is up and running. Thanks!
