hi
i'm runing [ROM] AOKP(Jellybean 4.1.2)Task & Ktoonsez (10/28) (AT&T/Rogers),and i have problem with over hiting, after 15 minutes of using the phone get very hot and on some games it's stop working and get rebooting.
in addition i can't change the performance of this rom, when i change the speed from 1.5GHz to 1GHz and the governor to save mode it go back to the last mode.
i have 2 Questions:
1.how di i change the cpu setting?
2.what karnel is the best fer this rom?
thanks In advance.
I would probably ask that over in the rom thread I'm sure you can't be the only one having that kind of issue

You may wanna try ktoonsez's kernel. IT 747. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1756776. This kernel fixed my heat issues. I was running CM10 w/ the stock CM10 kernel & my phone was also getting really hot. When you flash this kernel, it will install an app called Ktweaker. Ktweaker will allow you to change CPU settings and voltages. Hope this helps.

Another problem is the speaker, bell sounds fine but while speaking very weak speaker, has what to do to fix it, this rom is great except for these problems.
Thanks in advance

I'm not really sure how to fix the speaker issue. I don't think I have even ever flashed that ROM. What's it like? And what do you mean speaker problem? Elaborate a little bit.

i mean that the speaker is very low on sound when you are speaking on the phone, you hardly hear the other person on the other side of the line, but the ring of the phone is ok.

Yeah. I know my volume is screwy too. Sometimes I have to turn it all the way down then back up to get it to work right.

To answer your questions
1. You could be using your systems performance in ROM control, this will sometimes override ktweaker if you do not have lock frequency checked(you should always have this checked).
2. The best kernel for aokp is preference, but in my opinion I would flash KT(ktoonsez) kernel seeing how it us made to run for aokp task and ktoonsez ROM.
These settings are for Ktweaker app included in KT747 kernels:
If your worried about your phone overheating try undervolting your phone. I have some stable settings:

New 2.1.1 advanced kernel working good here
Performance: interactive 806 - 1517
Normal: interactive 806 - 1517
Screen off: conservative 246 - 806
Powersave: conservative 246 - 806
Extreme powersave: conservative 246 - 476
Hope HTC will create a proper kernel dump, not one you have to modify that much to make it work
P.S. maybe change the VirtuousROM topic so that there is only a link to this topic for kernels? Maybe better to keep it al seperated?
Using new advanced kernel too, can`t find any problems at the moment.
Only sometimes short screen flicker if I press menu button and choose
"Background".
No wake issues!
Using:
Interactive governor: Max.1.4Ghz Min.368Mhz
Added extra profile for screen Off: Interactive both Max and Min set to 468Mhz
I'm gonna try both of you guys' settings and see if the wake /receiving call while screen off issues go away.
This was my setting as of last night:
2.1.1 Advanced Kernel
Normal: Ondemand 806 - 1497
Screen Off: Interactive 476 - 476
As of right now (10:30am ET), I'm using this:
Normal: Interactive 806 - 1497
Screen Off: Conservative 245 - 806
Wake issues, standard 2.1.1 virtuous 1.0.1 no setcpu or other profiles. Rarely screen won't turn off when hitting power button. I.press it and comes back on until the second or third try. Everyday, at least once ill have problems waking the screen up. Guess I'll have to go to advanced kernel with profiles and governors again, they never gave me issues.. Or stock kernel :/

Battery < 30% -> 368 / 245 / 70 (on demand)

I have no wake issues or call receiving issues.
What governers do you guys use? I never really understood the governers much.. some people say use interactive.. others say on demand.. some conservative.. what are the differences? Someone could like me to a thread or whatever if they don't wanna explain.
But to be on topic I have the advanced kernel with screen on to 1gz/245 ondemand with screen off profile 245/245 ondemand. Going to start altering them to see what effects I receive (altering governers

you haven't listened very well, it is BAD to set ANY profile to the same min/max level, especially that low... you will have wake issues, maybe not immediately, but overtime... rmk will tell you the exact same thing if you ask him, so it's not just me...
on demand is best for your regular (screen on) profiles, while interactive is best for your screen off profile... the reason for this, which I explained to you in the virtuous thread is because interactive doesn't constantly poll the cpu to see if it needs to be bumped up, it automatically scales as soon as the phone comes out of "idle" this helps prevent "lag" (that first couple seconds where things don't respond immediately even if the screen does come on instantly) when turning the screen on... not sure why you don't want to listen when others are trying to help you have a better experience...
What happens when i use this on stock sense 1.34 ROM (rooted)? Won't work?

So I just got my galaxy S3 sgh-i747, I have rooted it, installed a custom kernel (ktoonsez Sammy kernel) and installed the pro version of setCPU.
The problem I am having is that even though I set an overclock limit to 1674 mHz, setCPU will occasionally boost it to 1890 for no apparent reason. This causes my phone to heat up immensely and renders it unstable.
I have also tried profiles (one for screen on, other for screen off) yet even with the profiles and notifications I get, the app still acts up. I am wondering if the widget and the app are just glitchy and displaying those speeds but not really setting the CPU at that level...
Here are some screenshots for clarification:
Edit: Sigh.. I cannot post screenshots..
But basically in my screens I show that the slider is set to a max of 1674 yet in another screenshot it shows that my time spent at 1890 mhz is 40%.... yikes
Has anyone experienced this before? How would I go about fixing this?
Thanks for any help!

That is the ktoonez kernel.
If your going to try out ktoonsez kernel and you have set cpu, Don't use set on boot on set cpu, just enable the profiles and Don't set voltages too. In ktweaker enable overclocking steps but Don't lock frequencies. On both ktweaker and set cpu, you should have the same i/o scheduler, and the same governor. If both of then has a different governor or scheduler and clock speeds it will make the phone hot, i reached almost 40c or maybe more then my phone rebooted by itself, i was playing nova on 2.1ghz max clock. Lol.
Now I'm undervolting with ktoonsez suggestion on his post, and my min clock at 96, max at 1350, ktoonservative governor, sio i/o, and my phone is still fast and smooth. Battery life once never tested as i bring an extra one all the time, and i just bring a retractable usb cable for charging.

What's your screen on max set to? that's something to check.. Pull battery, clean flash to reset changes.
Check the ktoonsez thread in Android Original Development. There are some files in /system/bin that need to be renamed, and if your ROM includes Freeza's cpu script (this is an issue on FreeGS3, not sure about TPR) it also needs to be renamed/removed.

1. In ktweaker hit load defaults
2. In general enable OC, adjust min 96 max 1800, then lock frequencies
3. Click on I/o scheduler And choose bfq
4. CPU governor ktoonzervative
5. Disable touch boost
6. Go to voltage if you get a message asking if you want to load default hit yes and hit menu and subtract 25 all across hit apply

Hello, i wanna share my experience undervolting.
For people who dont know what undervolting is, its the power or energy that the battery send to the CPU with determinate clock speed.
For example:
384 Mhz is the lowest frequency of our CPU, it has a 800mv volt in the stock ROM with stock kernel.
So in theory, the battery send 800mv to the CPU when it runs at 384 Mhz.
The effect of undervolt the CPU is bassically get more battery life and at the same time reduce the temperature of the phone.Less energy send less battery used and less hot phone in our hands.
How to Undervolt
Im running Stock ROM with Ruby Kernel stable.
For undervolt you need a kernel that support it, you can do it in all rom if the kernel support that.
If you want to Undervolt, i recommend you to use Trickster MOD.
You can Undervolt maybe -50mv all frequencies and see how it goes. Some people can even in best cases undervolt -200 mv. But you need patience to test slowly.
DONT TICK SET AT BOOT IF NOT TESTED.
That why you cant:
For example if you undervolt -100mv and if not stable, and you have set at boot ticked, it will freeze the screen and after reboot it will happen again.
After you set the mv for undervolt, download from play store CPU stability test and run it.
It will test all CPU frequencies to see if it is stable.
If you dont get any SoD, congratulations its stable.
My undervolt settings are -100 or in some cases -75 mv and very stable. My battery temp is 30 C°.
Thank you very much

What is needed to undervolt?
Thanks for the info. What are your battery stats after undervolting? How does it suffer other operations of our mobile like browsing or gaming etc ?
Sent from my LG-E975 using xda app-developers app
You need to first make a backup, install a custom kernel, install trickster mod, and from there apply what this discussion is talking about. Good luck!

Depends on the kernel. I am using Trickster Mod with Viper ZVC kernel. There are other control apps available -- some of them are kernel-specific, some are more universal (Kernel Tuner, Android Tuner, System Tuner, etc.). Look in your kernel's thread -- the developer usually tells which control app(s) to use with it.
