Developing a new version for my rom
Just wondering which build from these to use
XXLM8
or
XXLMD which is still new
a user here said that XXLMD has new gpu driver & new kernel
is that true ??!
I wonder if someone with knowledge could answer?

I've installed Marange ICS MIUI Rom and its very slow and buggy, I was wondering if installing a kernel could help? Now I know nothing of kernels and I tried searching on XDA but I can not understand any of the kernel related terminology or which one is compatible with this ROM?
IF anyone can give me a list of kernels I could try which are stable and make the ROM faster, I'd really appreciate it. Plus a link to how to install/flash kernels and the risk involved would help aswell. Thanks.
EDIT: Current Kernel according to "About Phone" is: [email protected] #1 Sunday May 27th.
MIUI Version: 2.8.20

I think Shaky's kernel with better HWA, tt's smoother.
it's a very know fact that maximum of the devices from Indian brands never have access to these well known rooms while they have good specifications. Why is it so?
yes Roms from other devices are ported to the Indian brand mobiles but it doesn't match my expectations.
If these senior respected developers can somehow show some love to Indian brand mobiles, it would be great.
It's my personal thinking. Yours can differ.

see..
what i have understood is.. basically custom roms are developed for whom, whose official roms are pathetic and have loads of bloatwares.
indian brands do not take load to customize the rom and barely put few bloatwares resulting low cost mobile fones.
these are stock androids are i feel are very stable wrt performance. :good:
we only have option to play with launchers :fingers-crossed:

Yes I agree. It also provide performance improvement options. Optimization on various things and near possibility to do any things. Problem is we need some sources based on CM or PA to start with MTK devices. Hopes one day will have it. Then we will start it.

Mtk devices are in market from so long and still nothing happened.... Still waiting..
The main problem!
CM, Paranoid, AOKP, AOSP are some great ROM's indeed! However, I believe Mediatek does not release it's kernel source, in other words, It's kernels are 'Closed Source'. Cyanogenmod requires a custom kernel to be built and compiled, for that, complete kernel source is needed. A few leaked sources for MT6589 made first CM possible. Until MTK changes it's mind, its very much impossible to see all those quality ROM's for our handsets. I also think that there is a petition on change.org, requesting Mediatek to make everything open source. You can sign it, I have signed it as well.

So you are with your custom rom . Search on your custom rom's thread and check its kernal is overclocked or not ( most of the custom rooms are overclocked )
Android is a common os which has mostly same features for all manufacturers. Some of them are modding but kernal related stuffs are same . So you can overclock any kernal depends upon your devices performance.
Search on Google , there maybe some kernals for your device .
Just check my thread to know more about overclock here

how to find correct thread

Sorry for my late answer
Kernal is act like a mediator between your hardware and software . So every devices have their on kernals . So you cannot flash other devices kernal (nothing in Sony or Samsung).
Google and xda is your master ,so search on internet for oc kernal with your phone model name
If you cannot find, may be this thread help you

Nobody has the guts to develop a new kernel for the latest firmware, 4.4.2 KitKat?!! This phone needs a stable kernel to achieve its potential. If you are working at something, please post here your work and are a few people happy to help with testing. Come on, guys, make a better kernel!

Please, tell me where did you saw the kernel source code for Android 4.4.2 because I want to download ...
I didn't... But I know a guy (Franco) that a few years ago made a kernel for LG Optimus One without the source. The best kernel I ever installed! And that little LG O1 run better then that a lot of smartphones today.

Hi, yes you're right, you can make a kernel without it's source, but its nearly impossible on a device with so many closed-source-drivers usw. . Also you need to know very much about the way our phone works, many details usw.
I would simply say, noone can Reverse Engineer the P6-Kernel, and those who can will not do this for a decive with such a little community
EDIT:
The only possibility to create a working kernel would to try porting a kernel from the P7-Sources
But anyone ask nicelly for that source code?

You shouldn't know the last version for flashing. Every developer makes its different ROMs based on android versions adding some extra features.
Just check and flash the ROMs which are stable in state and your done.
Beta version contains some bugs &
Alpha version is always buggy.
Hope this would be helpful for you.
Happy Flashing

Oh! I thought you were asking about custom ROMs .
You can even flash any of the ROM from that list and update it later, after all they are stock ROMs .
