so i got an update for cwm to 2.5.1.1 and i did a backup of rr1.7, went back to recovery did my usual wipes tried to reinstall and now i cant restore anything at all!! wtf now i cant use my phone what can i do?
i just resolved it, ACD168 helped me. i just downloaded the older version from unrevoked.com and installed it from hboot...everything works now but will not be updating to this version again
What error are you getting?
i saw a message before about a backup failing after updating to the latest clockwork. thats why i didnt install it yet
mine has been doing that too. all mine says is md5 mismatch i think. and onces that happens i can't flash any roms. I will have to wipe my Sd card and start from scratch. my worst fear is that and i get bootloop IM SCREWED cause none of my backups will work.
and yes i have tried backing up in rom manager and in clockwork. and then trying to restore in clock work and in rom manager and they always say mismatch.
and i am trying to restore right after i back up.
Well, I'm doing a backup now. Will let you know how it goes. So far so good, with no errors. Worst case, there's always adb.
error while formatting system, i didnt see nything bad about it b4 i updated so i didnt think thered be a problem but now there is

The only thing I know to try is manually revert back to 2.5.0.5 then recover a previous backup. I imagine you'll have to push it in ADB but I'm no expert.

E:failure at line 6
Backed up with no errors. Formatted and cleared everything with no errors. Now it's installing the ROM. At "copying files." Again, no errors so far. Heading to bed, will report back tomorrow morning.
well what the hell? ive never had any problems before i need some help people! im s-off just took an update from rom manager and now im screwed. im not a dev or anykind of programmer. i can get to recovery and everything but wen i do a restore it says cannot format system, now it says md5 mismatch, and now im trying it again and it gets to restoring system but then just hangs
Ok... so is the update i installed today gonna screw up my phone. I haven't done anything with it yet. Should I hold off doing any backups? Is anyone having luck with 2.5.1.1?

I'm not getting the mismatch error, it's just freezing at MD5
I installed it and updated kernels with it, worked fine.
Upon entering clockwork recovery I was immediately getting errors that said:
E:Can't mount /dev/block/mmcbld0p2 (file exists)
and if I tried to restore a backup I would get stuck at MD5
I downgraded my clockwork to 2.5.0.1 and am now trying another restore. It looked like it was working since it got past MD5 and seemed to restore a few files but then the phone rebooted and not is stuck on the unrevoked splash screen.
This just goes in loops.
Hope someone figures this out because my phone is toast as of now.
This must be a hit and.miss sort of thing because im having no issues

I was getting errors, so I downgraded. Then, I reupgraded after going into recovery and all is good. This version is sweet!

I had downgraded to 2.5.0.1 and after a couple of battery pulls due to freezing up and unrevoked screen I finally got into recovery and now it says v2.5.1.1 - Not really sure how it got back to this version on its own.
Anyway I thought the restore was working but now it's been sitting at htc_wallpaper_small for 5 minutes and hasn't progressed.
Guess I'll downgrade my version again and then do an upgrade.

Do you mean you downgraded your version of recovery? If so how exactly did you do it.
I installed the zip for a lower version and it appears to take but as soon as I reboot back into recovery its back at 2.5.1.1
So it wasn't just me.. I downloaded update, tried installing zip through rm, stopped at "writing boot".

I doubt *flashing* clockwork would cause force closes. But you can always revert back to 2.5.0.1 or AmonRa and restore a backup. Check the "Legacy" area of ROM Manager.
I also had this problem as ROM manager kept informing me that a new version of clockwork mod was available. after "updgrading" I couldn't flash any new ROMs and got a truncated message that during the process that 3.0 series clockwork mod needed to have some files deleted due to changes with Gingerbread and something about google.... (sorry about the lack of good definition on this, but the text was truncated and I was freaking out at the time since I started getting stuck at the white HTC boot screen.) Eventually I was able to perform a recovery and finally flash back to clockwork 2.5 and everything is OK now.
Strangely, after doing this ROM Manager indicated that 2.5 CW was the current version... However, after a few hours I started getting the message to "upgrade" to 3.0 again. I'll just ignore that for now.
Does anyone know why 3.0 is not working for everyone?
I got this also, but i wasnt using CM...i was on a sense mod and was able to restore a different rom and went to the new amon-RA instead.
Maybe its something with CM specifically
It has to do with the scripts used in the update.zips. Most people are still using the olds version used in 1.5... Net said that he had to change it to the new scripts used in gingerbread which makes it not work with any updates or backups made prior. There is a topic on it in here where he explains it. He says to flash the 2.5 if it's not letting you update something.

They put up a new version of Clockworkmod recovery 2.6.0.1. This will work for all that had problems with the 3.0.XXX versions of the recovery. All the goodies of the 3.0XXX but with amend support so it will work with all roms.
All I can say is that Amon has never let me down. May want to check it out if you haven't already. Even their recent update was smooth as silk. No problems for me.
I had this happen to me too with a flash resulting in the white evo screen loop. I was able to flash to the amon ra 1.8 but I couldn't flash anything. So I upgarded to the new version of RA but am still not able to flash anything. I go into the white evo screen loop and then I have to pull the battery and nand a restore. Not sure what I need to do now. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I updated my recovery to the gingerbread 3.0.0.5 & now I can't change my rom ... anyone know what I can do to fix this?

downgrade back to 2.5.x.x. only some ROMs support the new FS for 3.0.0.5
How do I downgrade?
Nevermind I'm a [email protected]$$ thanks
Nandroid
Anyone else having issues creating a nandroid backup? It freezes every single time. Going back to older version and trying again.
I am having some problems with 3.0.0.5 also and would like to downgrade but when I select an older version from "All ClockworkMod Recoveries" in ROM Manager I get "An error occured while flashing your recovery."?
I have downloaded an older version in the format of "recovery.img" if someone could tell me how to flash it properly?

Did you try downgrading to 2.5.1.2? That's what worked for me
Yeah, that's how I get the error message. Funny thing is that isn't the version I had before...It was like 2.5.0.7? And that is what I have downloaded on my pc in the form of recovery.img....just not sure on how to flash it if anyone might have a link to instructions that I wasn't able to find?
Not sure if this makes sense, but I too blindly accepted the update for CWM, and had difficulty. tried downgrading to oder version, but kept getting errors, then I couldnt even restore any backups I had made previously and everything was force closing on me.
Ended up being able to restore a desire Z rom backup I had made and then able to downgrade versions successfully. Otherwise I was stuck.
As far as flashing the recovery, no input.
So....I just used unrevoked and loaded custom recovery (being the 2.5.0.7) I had downloaded and .....It worked with out any other problems. Except for that rom manager says I still have the newer clockwork loaded in version info at top? Which means it will probably not prompt me to update.
I downgraded to 2.5.1.2 & I am running Inc rom 1.2 and everything runs great
I've tried all sorts of things to get the new CWM to work, but every time I try to do a backup it freezes when backing up System/irssi.
Same for everyone else? If so, maybe this has something to do with the problem?
Anyone having problems where backups freeze while generating the md5 sum? Seems like it does this about every other backup.
also downgraded to 2.5.1.2... running chingys rom and everythings runs perfect.
I am trying to flash frostyjb to get rid of the bloatware but when I boot into twrp and tried to make a backup it said unable to mount data and it showed 0 mb free space
So far I have used the toolkit to root flash twrp, is there anything additional I need to do before I can flash it?
Same problem here, seemed to flash and backup fine when data is deselected, but I was just trying to flash some mods and it was killing the install. :/
Xquizit v3 and TWRP 2.3.1.1
Have you found a fix for this? I am having the exact same problem.
i have not found a solution yet, i was hoping someone with more experience in the field would help us for this situation
i haven't been able to play with the phone as i have a problem set on buffer overloading i need to finish before i get time to play with the phone (been an iphone user for past 5 years, very new to all these rooting and recovery stuff)
I was able to fix the mount issues with my phone…I already had root but had mount issues…. here is what I did …
I just downloaded GooManager from the market and let it install the new version of TWRP
I opened GooManager then selected Flash ROM’s
Received a popup asking if I had a compatible recovery I clicked “Find one for me”.
GooManager found a new version of TWRP (openrecovery-twrp-2.3.1.1- T0ltemo.imj) and installed it.
Then rebooted into Recovery and was able to do a backup with out and problems.
This is what worked for me I am not an expert so if you do try it it’s at your own risk.
Well I'll be damned that worked, even though it was the same TWRP version I had already installed.

TWRP in the toolkit was for international Note II. Team Win just recently got the mount points and partition information for our phones and were able to make an official release for us.
Fixed it for me too - Bell Note 2. Thanks! Yeah, I was using the one in the toolkit as well and ran into this issue, installing from goomanager fixed it! Now I can safely MESS THE HELL UP out of my phablet!
Old post but ongoing issue as well for many...
For those experiencing this DATA 0 sum and unable to mount DATA on a rooted S7 Edge device if upgrading to Oreo.
I had this issue and solved it by re-installing CF-Auto Root from h*ttps://desktop.firmware.mobi/ without the asterisk*.
Simply follow the instructions to create the CF-Auto root files for your particular device and run it thru ODIN .
My DATA count reappeared after the ODIN was completed. Now I'm able to backup my ROM as well as the DATA.
Hope this helps a few souls on XDA.
Hello everyone,
First off, my phone is running jedi mind trick jb 6. However when I shut it down and started the phone again, it started boot looping, which was weird because i restarted the phone in the morning with no problem. When I entered cwm (version 6.0.2.7), I backed up my phone with the backup and restore option. Then I wiped the phone with darkside super wipe. I flashed jmt jb 6 once again. Then I restored my backup through backup and restore/restore from internal sd card. But it continued to boot loop and when I went in to cwm it displayed the errors E:failed to mount exfat/dev/block/mmcblk1/sdcard and E:failed to mount exfat/dev/block/mmcblk1p1/sdcard. Sometimes I can enter cwm and when I do, I can't flash anything even though it show the folders and items in my internal sd card. I also can't factory reset my phone because it gets stuck when formatting cache. I think this has something to do with restoring the backup because cwm stopped working right after that. Does anyone know how I can fix this?

You can't use darkside super wipe with CWM6. Odin flash a recovery tar. And get rid of that darkside stuff.
TWRP 2.5.0.0 tar can be found here:
http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/hercules
The CWM6 tar can be found in one of the CWM threads in development.

Yes I find Team Win Recovery project far more superior than clock work mod recovery. It's touch for free and it definitely has less problems. I recommend everyone use it over clock work mod recovery. But that's just my take on it. Everyone is entitled there opinion.
i have same problem as above mentioned, i used super dark wipe..but my device is s2 lte shv e110s.. i couldnt find twrp.tar for my mobile...plz help me...
