[Q] Replacing the Galaxy S II Screen, need help - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

So I want to replace a broken screen on a T-Mobile Galaxy S II (not mine), and my question is...is there a specific type of screen that I should be looking for? Since the shapes of the S2 differ between carriers, would most of the third-party (the "trustworthy" ones) replacement screens fit the original phone?
Also, if anyone's done this already and could point me in a direction towards a seller, it would be appreciated. Thanks in advance
If additional information helps, the phone itself works fine. It just looks like it has a cracked screen.

Dash 3g LCD
From what I'm hearing, the LCD for the Dash and the Dash 3g are the same thing.
Should be easy to find -

Can anyone else confirm it? Any guides/step by step on how to do it? I assume I will still need to get a housing
First off, it would be good to know what exactly happend to your phone. Like, what kind of accident. I may be able to help you with the issue of getting the phone apart.
I have the US Sprint version of this (s511 HTC Snap) and have a cracked screen from a drop to the floor. There are dash replacement screens on ebay for $15-$30, but ot find any confirmation that it for sure is the same one. There are instructional videos on youtube as well. I haven't done it yet, also waiting for confirmation that the dash lcds are okay.
Just dropped my Dash 3g this morning and am looking for the same info. Dammit! Should have gotten the insurance!
i would also like to know if the gash screen is the same as the dash 3G to repair a phone.Anyone know? Thanks
Bump, I would also like to know. It'd be nice to snag one up from ebay and replace the screen P:
Hi
does anyone know if they are the same? Cant find any replacement screens for sale on ebay.

I'll fix your HTC phone or provide parts
Hey guys. I have gotten alot from this website so I would like to give back. I own and operate a mobile phone repair shop and would like to extend my services to this forum. Most of you seem pretty techical so even if you just want the part (microphone, ear speaker, Loud speaker, LCD) I will provide it for you at a low cost plus shipping of course. I mostly deal with hardware issues so please don't PM me or post asking about software, I am a total noob when it comes to that!
Thanks again to all the rom builders and contributers who have helped make my phone awsome!

Screens and Repair Video Available
First, to answer one of the questions asked previously in this thread: This is not the same screen as the original Dash. The LCD itself might be but the connector is very different and the two are not compatible.
However, there are now several places online selling these. Just do a Google search for "t-mobile dash 3g lcd part only" and you'll find some people selling these. Note that they're quite a bit more expensive than the original Dash screens. That should change over time, though.
There's also a video of this repair on YouTube. You should be able to find that by doing a YouTube search for "Dash 3G Repair". This is actually a pretty simple repair (even easier than the original Dash) so if you're a little handy this shouldn't be too tough.
Anyone knows exact part number of screen? (Manufacturer and part number)
thanks.
DASH 3G parts
My just out of warranty Dash's trackball broke, I tiried to fix it myself and succesfully opened the dash3g, no good to me now so if someone wants a parts dash with no trackball I might be interested in getting rid of it, wend back to DASH 1 until I can get a Win 7 phone from MSFT .....

[Q] Replacement Top Cover Set for Wonder Black

Hey guys, wondering if you guys could find a Galaxy W top cover set in black as my top part has dented. This is NOT a housing, it's more of a replacement part. I've found one here:http://www.mytrendyphone.co.uk/shop/samsung-galaxy-w-62785p.html but they do not ship to my country(Malaysia). Any1 met across this spare replacement part? I really appreciate your help if you've stumbled across a website that sells this and ships internationally.
Malaysia is on the list on their .com site.

May I suggest getting a dummy galaxy w
In the old days, the dummy phones (the ones they use in phone shops) had the exact casing used in real phones. Maybe you can buy one of those galaxy w dummies, and extract whatever you need from it. And they are cheap to get.
In the past, I did replace the whole housing from a dummy phone for my treo 680.

dummy phones now arent made of real phone parts(that's why they're called dummies=non working objects). that's why its now on the cheap. i've seen one of the galaxy w ones before. all buttons do not work and the back couldnt even be taken off(the location of the spare part i am needing) so get your facts right and don't simply take a chance to answer questions with hideous answers.

[Q] Recomendation for buying a screen replacement

Hi, I'm new here so apologizes if I break any forum etiquette
Some days ago I accidentally dropped my Galaxy Nexus i9250 and shattered the screen.
Looking around I found that I need to get he digitizer plus LCD screen since they are fused, I found a couple of alternatives in ebay but I'm not sure which one to get.
Basically I'm between two options, the first one is a LCD + Touch Screen Digitizer +Front Cover Replace and the second one is just the digitizer and LCD screen.
Of course I want to get the most closer to the original part and although the first seller told me it's the original part I'm not sure about it.
In the second item you can actually see the Samsung logo so that's probably an original part.
Do anybody has a suggestion about which way to follow?
I would post links to the items in ebay but I can't cause I'm new.
Thanks,
Javier

It's been discussed in several threads, people usually say it's better to send it to samsung and let them fix it than buying the digitizer+lcd , coz in terms of money u wouldn't be saving much if u're planning to buy the parts urself.
P.s. posting in Q&A might have been more proper, plus u'd probably get more answers and ideas

Thanks, the problem is that I'm in a country where the Galaxy Nexus isn't sold, so I talked with Samsung and they told me that they can repare it but I have to send it to the US and they will mail it back to a mainland US address when fixed.
I did that once for a laptop and it took a lot of time and money, actually it will cost the same than getting a brand new phone.
This is why I need to do it myself.

[Q] Screen replacement, couple of questions

Hi there, this is my first post here so be kind
My galaxy gti9300 screen is broke and I did a little research over the Internet and there are some questions I still have:
1.Is there any way of spoting a fake screen if I pay someone to replace it for me or if I buy it ove the Internet?
2.Is it necessary to add the loca glue if I only replace the screen?
3.What should be the average price for a genuine lcd screen?
Many thanks
Wrong section.
This the the i747 S3.
And since the hardware are completely different I wouldn't know truthfully how to spot one.
Why not just buy one and pay someone to change it
You're going to pay them either way to replace it + labor so you could probably save some bucks finding your own.

[Q] Replace LCD & Digitizer w/ Different Color?

I have done some research on my own and believe that ALL models of the Galaxy Note 2 use the same lcd & digitizer, hopefully that is true and I am not just barking up a tree. I want to replace with the color Ruby Wine but as my original Galaxy Note 2 didn't come with that color I was wondering if anyone would know how I could buy one. Samsung would not replace it with anything else but the original color (white) when checking my serial#. Anyone have any ideas? I know that the color is sold new at Samsung Malaysia. I would be willing to replace with aftermarket but I haven't had any luck there either. The Malaysian Galaxy Note 2 in Ruby Wine is model GT-N7100
Thanks guys!
