Blocking numbers on GN2 - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

How do you block numbers on the GN2 because I can't find the option.
Swyped by Me & My GN2

You don't have blocking mode in your settings?

I don't have mine yet, but I do all of my blocking on Sprint's website. Once you log in, it's under Preferences.

Yes I do have the blocking mode on my GN2 but I didn't think that was for blocking unwanted numbers.
Swyped by Me & My GN2

I'll go check that out but I rather block from my phone though.

Add the unwanted numbers in your contact list. Turn on blocking mode, allowed contacts, custom, check the all box, uncheck the numbers you want blocked. The numbers you uncheck will be blocked.
Or, I use to use the mr.number app from the market.
Sent from the Galaxy beast note ll

Ok, maybe that's how I have to do it because all I seen was allowed contacts & allowed contact list...And I used to use that app but when they stopped showing the names of people that were private or not in your contacts I uninstalled it. That was the best feature. But thanks

T-mobile contacts(check message, check balance, check minutes)

I've been wondering if there is any way to remove these contacts. I would delete them and they would come back to haunt me each time.
Is this related to T-Mobile contacts sync? Do you have it disabled in the system settings?
Even if you uncheck sync they just come back. You have to hit menu in contacts and filter them out

hmmm did you filter yours out by unchecking the "show phone contacts"? i feel like that's the only way to get rid of it, but that means i would have to use google contacts or something right?
Yea. I uncheck everything but google. But those tmobile ones are on the sim so if you uncheck sim they will be gone.

[Q] How do you disable/remove AT&T Address Book?

Every time I open my address book (or at least the first time after a reboot) I get this AT&T address book verifying subscriber status popup that takes a while to complete. I have no interest in ever using that service so how can I disable the check and just stop using it at all?
I'm guessing that the answer might be root and remove bloatware but I'm hoping there's a way to just turn it off without rooting. Don't worry I'll be rooting sooner than later but for now I'd like to just get rid of that annoying delay.
I havent got my phone yet, should have it within the next 3 hours, but have you looked through the settings, and opened up the AT&T address book app and checked the settings within that app itself?
Yeah. Not seeing any settings for it or actually any AT&T Address Book App at all.
Yeah i finally got mine a few hours ago, but i dont see any options to disable it either.
I'm guessing this will be one of those annoyances that only root can salve.
Not sure about the s3 but on skyrocket I checked out the programs.. scrolled down to sync and disabled..
Rebooted and never got the error again.

Where exactly did you "check out the programs.. scroll down to sync and disable"?
I don't see anything about AT&T address book anywhere.
I have the same issue. Every so often when I go into my phonebook I have to wait for it to check the AT&T Address Book. So now there is a huge lag to access my contacts.
Why do carriers think they should be mobile phone designers? I wish they'd just leave the designing to the people who are good at it.
Over 10 years of buying my own phones out of contract for a reason. I've only had the phone for a few hours. I wonder what other lame surprises await....
Ok, I seemed to have fixed it. Not sure which action it was because I was just doing everything I could to make it stop.
First thing I did was to turn off AT&T phonebook in my online account. Log into www.attwireless.com. Under MyAT&T tab, mouse over "Wireless" and select "Usage & Recent Activity". Scroll down to "Members Shared Usage" and click on "view details of the number you're working on. Scroll down to "Minute Detail" and right under that is "Phonebook" with the option to turn it on or off.
At the same time I was doing a lot of flailing around in the the phone. I was Settings page in Contacts and I deleted all the AT&T BS contacts it auto inserted into the phone.
I rebooted and it stopped trying to access that AT&T phonebook. Hope this helps.
1. system setting
2. app manager
3. click on the phone book
4. force stop
Now it will stop and the icon will be removed from the app list. You can do this for all of the apps that will not uninstall till we get root.

In step 3 when you say "the phone book" do you mean the app called Contacts that has an icon that looks like a phone book? When I disable that app my phone dialer icon disappeared making it so I couldn't dial out. Had to re-enable it.
Otherwise, I dont have an app named Phone Book.

Hi I just got my phone the same thing happened. I let it load (the second time it happened the first time I hit cancel). I got a page that was basically an ad for att's backup service, I scolled down to the bottom and clicked on close (or whatever the button did say). Now when I start contacts no more "checking subscriber status etc".
I have not rebooted yet but will and if it comes back I'll post, if it doesn't then at least on my Galaxy SIII it was a one time event.

[Q] How to remove AT&T Address Book Pop-up

I swear I saw a post about this somewhere before I got my phone, but now I can't find it... How the hell do you get the "AT&T Address Book - Checking Subscriber Information" pop-up to stop coming up every time you open up the Contacts app?
I tried clearing cache in Contacts, didn't work. I have frozen ALL AT&T bloatware, still coming up. I'm not sure which app is causing this stupid pop-up. Help would be appreciated.
Settings -> Application Manager -> "All" tab -> "AT&T Messages"
Click Stop if its running then Disable.
See if that works.

Thanks, already tried that, for some reason it kept popping up. I ended up rooting, and renaming the app with a .bak extension, and rebooting. Seems to have gone away now. Thanks for pointing me to the right app though.
here's the old thread (it was mine)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1724071
It ended up stopping popping up for me without really needing to do anything. Not sure what if anything changed but I never rooted or did any of the steps mentioned in the thread.
What worked for me is just let it do it's thing, don't hit cancel. A pop up will come up asking you if you want it to check or sync with AT&T address book next time, paraphrasing here, click no. Done. Now when I got into my contacts it doesn't come up anymore.

I did the same thing and it never came back up for me. This was before I was rooted. Even after I don't get it anymore
No clue. I let it do its thing probably 10 times and it never went away. Now that I rooted and removed anything related to AT&T, it doesn't come up anymore. I have no idea why my phone was being so stubborn with it.
Recently install SKY ICS, and there are no apps with AT&T or YP, but the checking still comes up... any clues?
I froze everything att with titanium and hasn't happened to me..

[APP] Root Call Blocker - need some feedback please

Hi guys, Im the dev of Root Call Blocker, a powerful blocking solution. There have been a few reports of people experiencing issues with the data connection on the S3, which i dont have.
Could someone please let me know if this is indeed the case?
If you do find an issue please follow this procedure:
- as soon as you spot the radio without a data connection (not after a call) send logs through the "Write to us" item in Settings
- once youve sent the report, try using the Debugging tools found in settings
- if the tools do not help, please send another report - this will still help me track issues
Thanks in advance, PR after the break

Indeed. But Call Master is not just for blocking calls, its for MANAGING CALLS, SMS and MMS. The people who need it understand its value and power.
RCB can be used that way too, to some extent.
I was using this app on this phone and the HTC thunderbolt I had to block my ex girlfriends calls and texts. I would still get texts occasionally and would have calls go through. I'm not trying to bash the app because I liked it over the other few that I used but their interfaces were crap and most didn't even let me have the pick up hangup feature. I stopped using it about 2 weeks ago so I don't know if there have been any updates since then. I know you said people were having trouble on the same but I was also using it with the thunderbolt and having the same issues. If there is a way I can help then by all means let me pm and let me know because I would definitely like to use this app again. I'll reinstall it and see what I can come up with.

What is your order number? There is just no way it could let some calls through and block others because the app completely replaces the telephony service.
The issue you describe occurs on pirated copies.
Lets just check:
- you are not blocking its access to the net via a security app
- you have it set to start on boot
- you have only one profile
As i understand, this problem occurred on a different phone? And it works fine now on the s3?

Not possible im afraid. That sort of thing must be built into the framework. Other apps use a pop-up after every call, but i think thats just crap so itll never happen that way in CM or RCB.

Disable AT&T Address Book

Hey Guys.
I just received my Optimus G Pro from the US. I have unlocked it and its working fine in the UK on EE. However when I open up contacts it keeps trying to load AT&T Address Book which is really annoying. I just press back and it goes back to the regular contacts menu, but is there any way of disabling it? I have managed to disable all of the other AT&T bloatware from the main application drawer. Any ideas?
Thanks.

If you're rooted then you can always change the AAB.apk to AAB.bak with Root Browser (or any other root file explorer) and that'll disable it. I prefer this method to uninstalling just in case I need to do a software upgrade-it's easy enough to reverse without having to flash back to stock.

If rooted do not uninstall de AT&T adress book. It is tied with the stock contac app. And if you do like i did in the past with at&t phones you will not be able to open the stock contac app. Your phone will say Apk not found. And then you will have to download a contac app like go contacs. It is best to just disable it. Very clever at&t with theyre crap.

There are several options. The easiest thing is to make the root and then uninstall AT & T Address Book, all you do with Rom ToolBox. For the other applications. You just have to enter settings - Applications - All - Looking for the At & t and then: Force stop, turn off the notifications, delete the cache and then turn off. That's it!! It's that easy. If my information help you, just give clicking Thanks!
Other solution
I know this is an old post, but maybe someone know how can I remove the AT&T address book without rooting the device. Every time I'm on wifi or 3g and I open contacts this application opens first. It is extremely annoying. I just have an app from work which requires from device not too be rooted so I must find some other solution.
Thank you.
I never set mine up and it doesn't pop up. Maybe click through it without setting it up? There must be a way to do it because I haven't used root to force any of my AT&T apps. There's also an att address book options under accounts and sync. Maybe you can use that to stop it.

Nothing works, those AT&T guys closed all the options I could think off. In accounts they doesn't have the option to stop it. BTW, I never set mine up as well. But every time I get into "contacts" it starts connection with the AT&T address book to give me instructions how to set it up. It is really, really annoying.
Thank you.
A little late, but...
On my LG G2, I cannot disable the AT&T address book, but I never see it or use it during normal use. The only time I see it is if I either look into the apps section (where it can be stopped, but cannot be disabled), or if I go into "Accounts and Sync", where is shows the accounts such as Google, Skype, etc. If I click on "AT&T Address Book" there, it opens and asks:
Do you want to sync this device with the contacts in your online AT&T Address Book?
I click on "No", and it says
Activate AT&T Address Book at a later date by simply selecting AT&T Address Book from the settings menu of your device address book.
I of course would never do that.
I found a menu yesterday with "hidden menus" app from the play store. Try dialing *#*#2666#*#* and setting "registration" to "completed". You might also tinker with those settings and see if it stops it.

Thank God for small favors (and good info) this is the only thing that worked for me. I used to root and uninstall it or flash a dif. Rom. But I wanted the updates I missed and the future ones, so I flashed back to stock and of course got the cursed "you cant stop me, haha" ATT address book!!!
