Is it possible to lock unlocked bootloader? I relocked it on HTC site and now it says RELOCKED, but I need it to be LOCKED. By the way bootloader is S-ON HBOOT 1.09.0099.

You could try SimonSimons34's Wildfire S tool, I think it can help with that, not 100% sure though. You can download the tool from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1576844&page=25
^The download link on the first page is down so just scroll down this page, someone was nice enough to re-upload it.
If it doesn't help then you're stuck with the RELOCKED sign I guess.. :crying:
Thanks, I'll try

You need to unlock bootloader from htcdev then you will be able to root.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire S using xda premium
he has s-off , no need for unlocked bootloader ! just run root from superoneclick found at here ... you'll guide yourself after downloading the file believe me ! It is the easiest rooting tool i ever seen !
Must be some kind of problem if he's s-off and it says locked oow.
Just double check in your bootloader and confirm if it says s-off or s-on.
If your s-off as I am then it should not say anything about locked or unlocked.
It looks like you successfully updated the bootloader [*** LOCKED (OOW) ***] but didn't finish the procedure at htcdev to get it unlocked. But in any case, it should root because you have S-OFF already.
SuperClick Root thing doesnt worl.
And yes and it is s off
have you tried zergrush, too?
Another theory would be, that the locked bootloader "overwrites" the S-OFF behavior somehow. You have 2 choices.
1) flash a hboot 1.08.0000 or whichever you want that is not from htcdev
or
2) finish the htcdev process and get your bootloader unlocked.
Hello i'm the person vinnyt is talking about, that is having the problem with rooting the HTC Wildfire S, it is a marvelc cdma phone from Metro pcs (USA service). I first used HTC Wildfire S - Unlocking Bootloader by Mstechify on youtube and i did this like the 2nd day i had my wildfire s and the first time i had an htc, so i had no idea about htc dev at the time, but anyway i did this method and i followed all the steps until the end when the program tells you to press any button to reboot, what i did was unplugged the phone but i noticed i was not rooted so i went to the the boot loader and noticed it said locked oow and it said s off so i tried almost all the root methods and tried to use htc dev, and htc dev just tells me that its the wrong RUU program so i don't know. Guys please help me all I want to do is temp. root to remove bloatware please help. thanks.
You need to unlock bootloader!
how do i unlock it

Follow this tutorial and remember to thank theq86

Did you tried out the the HTCDev.com Process.
HTCDEV.COM --> Choose Model --> Update HBOOT --> Now says "Locked OOW"
---> then Get the Token as directed by the HTC DEV.Com --> paste the token in textbox in htcdev.com ---> you got "unlock_token.bn" --> flash that using "fastboot" --> you got as "*** UNLOCKED *** ",
I hope that there is Nothing bother about S ON or Soff., My device is S-ON but Hboot is in "Unlocked" state, I already Flashed out Custom ROMS . Try out that
if you are s-off use simonsimons utility to unlock your bootloader and fastboot flash a custom recovery, then flash the superuser zip for full root
Everything you need to know about this phone follow the link below.

I live in India and people here are arrogant for providing warranty so wanted to ask that if the bootloader is unlocked using htcdev.com method then is it possible to relock it again using Fastboot OEM lock from bootloader screen using cmd prompt??
So after flashing ruu it can be in warranty again??
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2 Beta-6
It'll still show 'RELOCKED' at the top so HTC will still know it's been unlocked at some point
Pretty sure the fastboot command works but not 100% sure
I don't think it's possible. AFAIK, unlocking it with htcdev, you have given to HTC your IMEI and device serial number so they can build a databse of unlocked devices...
Edit: Time to update my signature
You can relock it but htc will know that has been unlocked before,
if you read on htc site it should be written somewhere.
My advice is to not relock the bootloader once you unlocked it
because if you need to flash the recovery for any reason, you
ll have to unlock it again causing a wipe which make you loose
your data.

Going through HTC Dev only unlocks the bootloader - it doesnt give you S-Off.
In all honesty, HTC say it may void parts of your warranty, but if the phone is faulty they will still fix it. Other than that, dont sweat it. If you relock it it shows you are back to stock, and therefore if you have an issue it would be after relocking so they shouyld fix it.
This friend wanted to get his phone rooted, so he asked me to do it, problem is he tried it once already and bricked the phone, so he took the phone to some shop where the guy fixed it, but now its S-off. And even with S-off the bootloader is locked, so cant root.
I need some guidance or link to how to unlock bootloader if security is already off.
H-boot version is some extremely historical 0.85.0024
I already tried updating the hboot and following the procedures found in the tutorials but when it tried writing hboot it gives some error like 'Remote not allowed'.
Any help will be highly appreciated.
This makes no sense.
If your s-off your unlocked. You just need to flash a custom recovery then off you go.
However it is remotly possible that you have what I'd consider is a rare htcdev unlockable bootloader. If you look on the list for htcdev update ruu there is hboot .085 or something like that.
Best way to check this is reboot into bootloader with vol down and power, the first line on the screen could read "locked" "unlocked" or "relocked".
If none of the above it's not the htcdev.

It says locked.
I tried htcdev but when booting the phone it shows AT&T logo, and i couldnt find an RUU for at&t on htcdev so I didnt even try it.
And tried flashing the recovery directly too, it shows recovery option in the bootloader white screen, but when i select it, it goes to this black screen with a tiny phone in the middle and that error sign, you the the triangle with an exclamation mark inside it.
It is possible to display 'locked' with s-off, right? With s-on it would have showed re-locked, it does that on my explorer, but i read someplace that with s-off we can change it to locked.
So you do have that rare htcdev bootloader, ok so what you need to do is continue the unlocking procedure at htcdev from the point of obtaining the oem token from your device. Dont forget your going to need android drivers and sdk installed on pc to compleat it.
Htcdev will send you an unlocktoken.bin file via the email address which you use to unlock the bootloader, just follow the steps provided in said email.

So when htcdev tells me to chose the RUU, i select the one with the matching Hboot? Because there is none that matches the carrier (AT&T on phone).

No, as I already said, I believe you have a htcdev unlockable bootloader, i could be wrong but you dont need to do any ruu update. All you need to do is skip through the unlocking steps till you get to the point you need to copy the token ID and send it off to htcdev (via the htcdev website) then follow the instructions sent to you to continue with unlock.

HBOOT-2.00.0029 is necessary
I think, it is, what ranger4707 says, your bootloader is like mine was (HBOOT-2.00.0027 [IMAG0355_1]), then i updated the RUU to HBOOT-2.00.0029 (IMG_20130725_101050) on htcdev.com
Whitout the RUU-Update to 0029 your PC isn't able to read out the TOKEN you have to send to htc for the Unlock_code.bin!!! (i tested it )
Then i was able to unlock the bootloader, and "LOCKED" is now "UNLOCKED" (sorry, have no image)
Hope it helps...
Faslh said they have hboot .85. There is a hboot on htcdev that is .85 and unlockable so untill they can post an actuall pic of the hboot screen I'm really only guessing from the info provided.

Ok guys, thanks a lot, that 'friend' lives quiet far away, so i have no access to his cell these days, I just asked him to send me a pic, i think he will do so later today, in some hours, i'll post the image here as soon as I get it.
I bought a Verizon HTC one today that doesn't fully boot up. It has tampered in the bootloader so I assume the person relocked it.
Question is, is there an RUU for a locked S-on ONE? Is there anyway to unlock the bootloader and reflash anything or is this thing truly a brick? From what I've read the S-off procedure requires the phone to boot up.
Thanks
Todd

there is one but you have to be s-off in order to use it! the reason is that it is an unencrypted or encrypted! i think they will have the ruu when 4.3 officially drops
The RUU you seek can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=47693710
