Another strange problem... almost sounds like a short in the headohone jack causing it to think you pkugged in your phones.
When it happens have you tried plugging in a pair of earphones then unplugging to see if it stops?
If that works, as a temp solution you could get something small to plug in to just fill the spot, hopefully preventing it again. (I've seen tiny stylus that you store by plugging it into the headphone jack, for example)
You could also try in Settings > Accessory, uncheck Audio Applications.

So today I noticed that my HOX doesn't vibrate anymore. Not even at the startup.
I can't remember dropping it or something else. One thing that made me curious, I can't use *#*#3424#*#* for the Diagnostic Test. Everytime I'm typing it into the dialer the damn phone won't do a bloody thing. The code just disappears. So could this might be some weird software thing? Or is it really the vibration motor that's not working?
Is there a way to fix this? Maybe a lose connection?
Ok I just noticed that my sound is bugging too. Everything is turned to the max but the phone won't ring on a call. But the speakers definitely are working because I can hear music and other stuff.

Hey,
what rom are you using ?
Did you flashed it recently? If yes did you do a full wipe before flashing ?
The motor connector is unlikely to get disconnected( it gave me hard time to remove it when replacing my screen).
The speaker on the other hand is not connected with connector - its basically 2 pins making contact with the motherboard of the phone, so my suggestion is to try and apply some pressure on the grid on the back of your phone and check if there is a difference - if there is then you should open your phone and bent those pins upwards so the have better contact with the motherboard.
There is the possibility of speaker's driver being stuck( usually moisture) and my advice(old nokia trick) is to suck and blow the speaker so it gets unstuck
Good luck

I don't even know how to begin to troubleshoot this because it happens once in a blue moon, but when it does happen, it is annoying as hell. Every now and then, when I connect my phone through the auxiliary port to play music, there will be a phantom ring that persists even as the music is being played. It's kind of a quiet ring.
Disconnecting and reconnecting the auxiliary cable does not fix the issue. The only way I can make this go away is by rebooting my phone. What in the world is this and has anyone else ever encountered this? I'm losing my mind thinking maybe the ringing is in my head, but others who have been in my car when this happened can confirm that I'm not a lunatic.

I read something about this. Some say the .10 update fixed the issue, and as a work a round placing a call resolves it or a reboot WITHOUT fastboot checked. At work atm and cant look up the references for that sorry, just what i remember.
I nvr had it on mine yet and it seems to happen when switching in/out of 4g/3g modes as well.
I've had this happen only once. Only it was over bluetooth while streaming audio to my car stereo. Had to reboot to get it to stop. WIERD!

i had it happen on my dna! but it only happened when i was out of signal, barely into 3g! it stopped when i put it in airplane mode and a reboot!
Well I'm glad it's not just me who has experienced this, but is there any way to completely resolve the bug? It's pretty annoying when it happens and even more annoying that it's difficult to replicate.

From what i seen on the VZW forums the only way to kill the sound is a re-boot or make a call of some kind.
I was hoping this would be fixed in the 4.4.2 update but it appears to still be there. While listening to anything in my vehicle with bluetooth A2DP the audio seems to cutout, like a bad connection. The song continues to play and sometimes I see the information on the radio screen disappear, as if the phone lost connection.
This happens no matter where I place the phone. Normally it sits in the storage pocket just below the radio but also happens in the mount on my dashboard as well as my center console.
It seems to happen less often if I plug in the charger, and even less if I force the screen to stay awake. I have not had this issue with my Sensation 4G or my Galaxy S3.
Any help is appreciated.

Yay for 'upgrades'

I have tried every combination of different settings and the only thing that seems to help, although does not resolve altogether, is to plug in the charger and tell the screen to stay on during charging. May be something related to the sleep mode putting the CPU at too low of a minimum.
I am looking at other stereos for my vehicle as it may be an issue with the stereo just not being fully compatible with the newer bluetooth version on the Note 3. I need to test this to be sure.
I have the same issue. My screen is always on and charging but it still stutters on occasion. I used to have the HTC One and it had the same issue. I don't think there is a fix except to try a custom rom.

I have the older 300BTX. One thing that you made me realize is that on 4.3 I was running leankernel the whole time, and with KitKat I was running the stock kernel until this morning.
Going to the gym in an hour and I'll test the bluetooth today to see if switching kernels fixes the issue.
*EDIT*
Didn't skip on me at all on the way home today. This leads me to believe that your skipping problem is kernel-related. Give leankernel a try and let us know if that fixed it for you too?
I was just going to post the same as Kalm. I tried the new v2.0 of LeanKernel and no stutter. Also my Bluetooth MAP is working consistently again with my Ford Sync system. I played about 20mins of music on my Jawbone Jambox with no stutter also.
think this is something specific to a chip. I can stream pandora with pandora control and stream pandora and music over str8 bluetooth via hondalink with no issue.
I think I am going to wait and see what happens when I upgrade to the S5 in a few weeks. If the problem persists I will probably start looking at new head units for my vehicle. I am already eyeing the Pioneer AppRadio 3 LOL

I am trying to remain stock, once I start flashing ROMs and Kernels it becomes an addiction for me LOL
Randomly my notification sound disappear.
No problem with the rest of the phone, if I reboot there's no problems.
I've not found a way to restore sounds except a reboot that is trivial and unacceptable twice a day.
Someone has this problems?
Any idea?

It's probably a software related problem.
She was using something connected with bluetooth or using spotify?
No Spotify. The last time something was connected via Bluetooth would have been 8 hours prior on her way home from work.
did you guys find out the cause? it happens to my mom as well. seems like an app might be the problem. but I don't know which one.
thanks
No, I can't figure out why. I've tried with n7player and, same problem.
Could be headphones ? I really don't know but, this phone is really disappointing.
Happened again yesterday, using n7 and headphone but, I've done a call using earphones so, could be a earphone issues that not restore correct audio channel after headphone are unplugged?
In this case, is there a way to reset only audio avoiding a full reboot?
anybody figure this out? super annoying lol..
In my case it happens after I disconnect from Bluetooth hands free
Happens to me every day. I thought it was an app but I doubt it now. I have a n5 and n5x set up identical, non rooted, all stock, same apps.
5X looses audio all the time. Twice a day maybe. Annoying is an understatement.
I've got the same issue. Anyone come across a solution yet?

I'll keep you guys posted but for some odd reason, I feel it's candy crush that causes the problem. My mom plays it alot and she told me it wasn't working. I did everything (but reboot of course). Then i noticed the only app open was candy crush so I swiped it to close it. and boom.. it started ringing again. idk if it's coincidence but I'll check again if she tells me its not ringing.

I don't play games. It happens every time I start a call from my wearable. No other problems but, I can't solve avoiding a reboot.
Someone can tell me please a way to report a bugreport to google? Becouse I can reproduce the bug so, probably I could be useful. But I don't know how to sumbit a complete bug report, with all necessary info.
Has anyone found a fix for the sound cutting out after a few seconds of a video or game? I have tried the soubdabout app, Turing the USB option off, disable Power save.. Still happening..

I have the same issue sometimes, I've read around the web and it seems to be a mix of software and hardware related, I read a guy suggest removing and putting back the case (in case you have one) and I did that and the sound came back, haven't had the issue again.

Hmm, I keep mine out of a case,.. Yeah I'm not sure what it is, it's a 50/50 between some say software and some say hardware. I would asume that software would of been fixed by now, either Samsung or 3rd party
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk
So I found a solution for the issue in my case, it does seem to be software but it's really weird cause the issue continues in any firmware, it started when I was on 6.0.1 PI2, then I flashed Nougat and had the same problem (I hated it and battery drain was killing me) I went back to 6.0 and changed to the PK2 version and the issue continued, it was really weird cause it would cut out in audio messages, games but not music, I also tried every single suggestion on every forum and post I could find EXCEPT the Soundabout app, today I gave up, installed soundabout, selected media to speakers and bam, problem solved, I still need further testing, but it seems ok for now, keep in mind that I also have "prevent USB audio routing" on and "Easy Mute" off.

Im trying the soundabout app now, I orginally had it set to automatic and was still having the issue, now I set it to speaker and so far so good.
as this worked for me but idk about others... I was told to remove all paired bluetooth devices (on/off doesnt matter) then go to settings>connections>more connection settings>nearby device scanning then turn off... worked for me... (sorry for zombifying an old post but as this is still current with mine and many devices i decided to help)
