GS3 (SGH-i747M) is rooted and I tried a few ROMs, CM10 most recently.
I tried to go back to the stock ICS ROM so that I could then upgrade to JB.
However, after flashing back to the stock listed here, the phone started hanging during the boot.
I tried to go with the JB ROM from that same link, I tried all the ROMs there, I keep getting stuck at the same point in the boot. It's after the little flashy animation, with just the Samsung logo slightly animated. It just keeps animating and animating.
Any suggestions would be great.

That fixed it, thanks
also stuck in boot animation
I have the same problem going from Task650's JB ROM back to stock JB so I can sell my GS3. All completed successfully according to Odin, but after the usual boot animiation, it gets stuck in the SAMSUNG logo. But I can't get into either recovery or download modes. I try the Vol Up or Down-Home-Power and it reboots through animation, but then stuck there.
I've tried taking out the battery. Nothing works.
Can anyone help?
Thanks in advance.
Can u get into download mode?

Take the battery out, hold volume down, home, power, and plug into a computer. It should go into download mode.

If the battery is out you do. Lol.
So basically I screwed up really badly, and wiped absolutely everything on my S3 while half awake. All I get is stuck on the boot logo. When I try and boot into recovery, it says its trying to boot but just locks on the samsung logo, and when I try and use download mode it flashes the screen with the warning about installing custom OS on it, then gets locked on the samsung logo. Am I totally screwed here? Sorry if this has been asked before, I've been looking through about 30+ tabs on chrome right now for any sort of solution.
When you see the warning message in download mode, do you press the volume up key to get iinto download mode?

I dont even get the chance to select anything, it disappears right away. I also was able to get it to connect somehow to ODIN, and got a pass on flashing a stock rom. Stuck on at the logo screen again, but its progress!
EDIT: IT BOOTED! I dont know how i got through it not doing anything, but ODIN worked! thanks for trying to help buddy
Hey guys,
So I have an interesting issue: I was trying to install a new boot animation but now the phone doesn't start. I tried installing the stock UVLE1 using Odin and that was successful, and the phone goes through the boot animation and the sound plays but the phone gets stuck at the samsung logo screen. I've tried reinstalling the rom a couple of times but everytime it gets stuck at the same spot.
I can't get into recovery (I tried adb but that didn't find a device, the power button is broken so can't do it manually), when the phone gets to the samsung screen it is not recognized by the computer but odin works fine (at boot).
I want to recover the info in the internal storage if that's possible and ideally fix the phone too.
If you guys have any suggestions, that would be awesome!
Thanks!
Edit: I've tried a lot of different stock roms from 2.3.6 to 4.1.2 and they all have the same issue (were successful but stuck on samsung logo)
Edit: Solution: Boot into odin and restart phone while holding volume up/down and remove usb to enter recovery.
Thanks to all that helped!

Have you tried clearing cache and dalvik cache after flashing?
Maybe even factory reset after.
And you will need to Odin the image, then Odin custom recovery right after to do those.
If you can't get into recovery ....then something is very wrong.

I can flash the recovery, but can't get into it because the power button is broken. If there's another way to get into recovery, let me know!
I'll try flashing and then flashing recovery right after and see if that works
Thanks for helping!
Edit: That didn't send it straight to recovery on boot either. Still stuck on the samsung logo.

Broken power button ....yeah, that's an issue. There are lots of apps to boot to it, if you're rooted.....but without the phone running and root, I'm not sure what you can do.
Maybe someone else does?
Fastboot command maybe?
I don't even remember if fastboot works with Samsung. Lol

Use adb to get to stock recovery, wipe data/factory reset, and it will boot. Easy.

Is the power button stuck in on position? if it is, it will most likely boot up just by putting in the battery and it should also auto restart about 15secs after you see the Samsung logo.
If your power button isn't stuck on and you can get the device to power up, hold both volume up & down while powering on device, no need to hold power on, once you see Samsung logo release volume keys and it should boot to recovery.

Power button was broken (in on position which basically made it reboot halfway while booting up) a while back. I removed the power button, and it was working fine for a couple of months.
BUT OMG YOU ARE A GENIUS! It worked.
Just for future reference if anyone needs it, here is what I did:
Enter the odin screen (with usb) and push vol down to reboot. Then quickly remove the usb and keep pressing the volume buttons until the samsung logo comes up and you're in recovery.
THANKS!!!! :good::good::good::good:
please help me!!!
i have the same problem but my power menu works fine and i can go to recovery and i cleared catch even data but the samsung animation still stucks what to do please help me!!!!

I pulled the battery and it still just says "downloading.. do not turn off target" and won't go any further
But the strange thing for the boot loop in the top left corner it says "recovery booting" in blue and then its the android guy for a split second and then it reboots.
Pull the battery, then press volume down + home and power and see if you can get into download mode. Then press volume up and Odin stock tar.

I can get there but it just says "downloading... Do not turn off target!!" I have waiting for about 15 minutes and it doesn't change.
If I do volume up it goes into the boot loop. I was trying to make a backup with twrp and I think my phone is stuck in recovery mode boot loop

This is what you are supposed to see. Hook your phone up to tour computer, load the stock tar in the PDA slot, make sure you see com# ie. com6 and then hit start. It will flash the ROM and reboot your phone.

Pull the battery, insert and factory reset again. Pull battery again and Odin stock tar; pick one of the tars in this thread. The steps and tools needed to start are clear.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=56853325
Note: the thread was just updated for lollipop; the support posts and help posts are related to the KitKat tars. Original is last of the three. OB7 I'd most likely what you're after unless looking for Xposed framework compatibility which is KitKat only, for now.
Hi...
I got my S6 Edge+ rooted and attempted to install recovery via TWRP Manager app. This was a mistake and it failed. When I tried to reboot the phone, it became stuck on the start up Samsung logo screen, displaying the message "Recovery is not seandroid enforcing." Then it either sticks there...or quickly shuts down.
Pressing volume down/power reboots to logo screen and that's all.
Pressing volume up/power/home does nothing.
Pressing volume down/power/home gets me to screen where I can connect to Odin. That seems to be working okay. I've tried to flash a couple different recoveries, but nothing has an effect. Some seem to flash successfully but nothing changes. Others fail.
I also tried flashing a stock firmware file (G925TUVU1AOCG_G925TTMB1AOCG_G925TUVU1AOCG_HOME.tar.md5), but that failed.
Seems if I found the right file to use through Odin it might set things right. Or is there another possible solution? If anyone has any help or suggestions (or links!) I would much appreciate it.
Thanks...Mike

You flashed the wrong firmware for your phone, we have a S6 Edge+ G928T and the
firmware you flashed was for the G925T phone.
Make sure that before you odin flash the S6 Edge+ G928T firmware that you go into the
phone's recovery by pressing volume up, power and home button at the same time.
and do a factory reset or factory data reset first.
Your best bet is to odin flash the correct firmware and start from the beginning.
Here is a fast download link for the proper firmware for your phone (COKC):
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24337548750880895
Also the "Recovery is not seandroid enforcing." message you see is normal if
you have rooted and twrp'ed your phone.
Good luck,
Have a great day!
Thank you so much Misterjunky!
After I made that post I was looking at the file name that I copied in there...thinking it should include 928. Why I didn't notice before, I'm not sure, I think I was in a panic searching around for an answer.
The only problem is I can't go into the phone's recovery by pressing volume up, power and home button at the same time. I kept trying desperately to do that yesterday, but no luck.
Any suggestions on getting that working? I have the correct firmware file downloaded and ready to go. Thanks again for the help.

There is another way to get into recovery, it's a bit complicated but if you do it just
right the phone will either go into stock recovery or twrp if you have twrp installed.
You have to have fast and accurate fingers for for the following:
First you need to go into "download" mode, then press the power,
home, volume up and volume down all at the same time until you
see the full black screen of the phone without any writing on it.
While still pressing all four buttons let go of the volume down button
while pressing the other three buttons, then keep pressing the three
buttons until you see stock or twrp recovery on the screen then let
let go of all the buttons.
Remember, when doing this you need to be not only fast but very accurate.
If you still cannot get into recovery then you need to go into download mode
and odin flash the official stock G928T firmware before doing anything else.
Good luck,
Have a great day!
Thanks again for the help Misterjunky. The alternate button presses to enter recovery didn't work either...the phone was very messed up.
Plus the battery wouldn't charge. It had drained out (because at first it wouldn't turn off), and so the phone would stay on only intermittently when plugged in. Not long enough to flash the firmware, which was very frustrating.
But suddenly, in desperation, I got a version of TWRP to flash successfully from Odin and open...which allowed the battery to charge. Then I was able to flash the firmware from your link, and after a couple of false starts, it was working perfectly.
I've subsequently found the correct version of TWRP to flash in your post in another thread, and it's fine. Now the phone is re-rooted and back to normal.

I've had the same issue on my phone, however when I download the stock firmware and flash with TWRP I get an error: "could not locate meta-inf/com/google/android/update/binary"
It also freezes and crashes odin anytime i try to flash through there.
Am I missing something? I have the same model (SM-G928T)
