Hello.
A buddy of mine told me that he gets number of new messages on Talk's notification icon. Is this ICS feature or CM9/10?
I use stock rom and it shows only the icon, when I pull down the notification drawer it shows number of messages next to the app name, but not on the icon itself.
Thank you.
Most likely a different launcher. Give nova or apex a try

Tried them, but no luck.
I kind of doubt notification bar has anything to do with launcher, but rather system itself...
Cm10 has this feature. As does Nova launcher

All I can see is in nova prime version unread count for dock, drawer and folder icons, nothing about notification bar.
Are we on the same page here? I'm talking about that the very top thing where clock, signal bars, etc...
Some of it is app specific. Handcent has that as an option. Gmail has an app to do that, available in the market i think. Not sure about dialer as i usually use exDialer.

I've recently switched to CM9 ICS, and I can't find a way to show how many unread texts I have on the dock messaging app icon.
I've tried using the stock CM9 ICS Trebuchet launcher and ADW Launcher (normal and EX), enabling notifications on the latter. I've also tried the stock messaging app, Handcent, and GO SMS. I turned on "Show unread count" where applicable.
However I still can't get the number to display on the dock icon. If I create a widget for GO SMS and place it on a homescreen, then it will display the number, but I can't place said widget on the dock.
What am I doing wrong?
Nothing. That is a Touchwiz feature. CM9 is non-touchwiz.

Woah, Samsung actually got something right? :O
Are there any other ways of accomplishing this?
Also, I can't believe I didn't notice it gone on CM7...
Just about every custom launcher I know of can do this. Not sure about any ics specific launcher though.

Launcher Pro seems to work, you just need to use their custom icon when making a shortcut.
ADW Launcher I still can't get to work. Guess I'll stick with Launcher Pro.
BTW thanks for helping me realize the issue was with the launcher. I originally assumed it was a problem with the messaging programs themselves.
Thanks for helping me learn other launchers can do this too. Zeam cannot.

Not sure what ROM you're on but scrolling wallpaper is determined by your launcher and SMS notifications are in your settings.
I use SMS Popup app that works well, plus I get the taskbar and audio notification, and I have scolling wallpaper on ICS.

Is there a trebuchet launcher that displays messages, missed calls, so on in the launcher? I didn't wanna have to go download apex but not having the notifications bothered me. Can anyone share a link?
Like in the dock on the launcher. It shows how many messages you have received.

I'm looking for this as well, I don't want to install other launchers just for the sake of notifications! I had holo launcher hd plus but it only showed notifications for phone, sms, gmail and k9mail, go launcher notifications claim to show notifications for whatsapp as well but since go launcher ex is SO confusing I ended up uninstalling it
Really looking forward to this!

Technically, Trebuchet isn't stock....its a launcher for cm. You could always download nova or apex and freeze/delete trebuchet.

I didn't wanna have to download apex. I jut though someone had one that showed missed events.
Galaxy S3.
I bought Transparent Launcher Premium, thinking that it would do it for me. Unfortunately though, it lacks many basic features that I think the developer should have implemented. There is no way to search for an application by name to make it a transparent widget (you have to scroll through all your apps in non alphabetical order), and you cannot make multiple transparent widgets for your app icons (has to be 1 by 1). Lastly, with my Note 2 I can't even have a 1x1 transparent widget, only 2x2. So please guys, any other viable options out there? I like to have a nice wallpaper to look at with most of the apps that I use still on my homescreen.
PS sorry for the rant :silly:
Lightning launcher has the ability to make icons and widgets transparent.

Thanks for the reply. I do not want to switch my home lunched though. I'm a firm believer that most big things on a phone should be stock... runs smoother.

As I know Google added this feature to 4.3,but I can't see it after I upgraded to 4.3, and some apps e.g. apex launcher will prompt a single notification on status bar, u can't dismiss it, just show u "touch for more information. ......."
Any body know how to fix it??

Seriously, proofreading is a good thing to get into the habit of. What do you mean there is no notification center? And when I get a notification from Apex Launcher when it's freshly installed, I can dismiss it. Everything from 4.3 and the files you flashed will have everything that Google intended to be in the phone.
Sorry big brother, let me make the question more simple.
How to dissmiss this???
I faced it on 4.3 on every boot, even I disabled the notification per app.
And Brother, Thankyou your well speak, I use android from 1.6 to 4.3, thanks your senior reply.
That's a Apex launcher question. Address it to developer and use the stock launcher in the meanwhile. Or even better, Nova launcher.
Thanks, apex just released an update for this fix.
In the update notes on market it says
Ongoing notification when keep in memory is enabled (Android 4.3)
