Hello everyone, I am new to rooting and accidentally installed a nandroid to my internal sd card while trying to put it on my external sd card. I plugged my phone into my computer and deleted the backup files from the Clockwork folder. For some reason though, it keeps showing on my phone in Miscellaneous files that Clockwork mod recovery is taking up a little less than 2gb. Can someone help me fix this?
Thanks in advance!

When you plug into the computer you will see:
Phone (This is really the internal sdcard)
Sdcard (This is the external sdcard)
If you want to get them off the internal sdcard you need to delete them from the phone folder and leave them in the sdcard folder.

I'd familiarize yourself with a file explorer like esfile explorer (best one imo) and you can delete these backups on your phone from your phone, doesn't matter if it's on the internal sd or external sd.

I use twrp but I still have my stock rooted rom saved with cwm, unless you deleted the folder it should be in the clockworkmod folder
Ok everyone so it seems that I deleted the backup but CWM is still taking up 1.6gb of internal storage. Is this normal, or is this the nandroid I deleted that is still showing?
Newer versions of cwm also store other data (cont remember the name of the folder) to support incremental backups. Maybe that is still there?

That's too much data to be residual, I'd say your backup is in a folder some place in the internal sd

Where should I check?
Idk where it would be if not in the cwm folder, did you try rebooting your phone just to be sure it didn't go tard on you after you deleted it and is now giving you a false reading?
Something I was thinking about is just wiping my internal and external sd card to start fresh. What effect would this have on my root and unlocked bootloader?
OK so I found the problem. I never deleted the blobs files. This is what is taking up so much space. Is it safe to delete these files?
EDIT: I went into CWM recovery and selected free nandroid space and it deleted the blobs not associated with a backup.

Ahh good a happy ending
Yup. The blobs. That is the incremental data that I was talking about before. That is what the new version of cwm uses to avoid duplicating data in successive backups.

I have a lot of random residual files from who knows where in my SD card, probably leftovers from unclean uninstalls. I just want to know what is the best way of determining which files are safe to delete, and what is the easiest way to delete like all the random junk on your SD card without having to go to rootexplorer and manually doing it yourself.

I third this option. My G2 came with a bunch of stuff on the SD card so when I rooted my phone I just copied everything on the SD card onto my computer and then formatted it and then let the phone create what it needed. If there was something the phone needed I just copied it from the backup onto the SD card.
Thanks, but how do I know what stuff to include back into the phone?
So, from my understanding:
Step 1: Drag everything from SD card to PC.
Step 2: Titanium backup?
Step 3: Reformat? (And how do I do that?)
Step 4: ? ? ?
Titanium Backup only backs up whats on the phones internal memory, not the SD card. So you can do that if you wish but I don't see how using it has any bearing on cleaning your SD card. If you have a SD card to USB adapter then use that to copy all your stuff off the SD card onto the computer then just format the SD card with your computer. If you don't have the adapter, then plug your phone into your computer and copy everything over. Then reboot into recovery and then format the SD card from there or you can do it from within Android by going to Settings -> Storage -> Erase SD card.

yes but thats only for nandroid backups
so in order for me to keep my nandroid backup I would need to copy that folder into my newly wiped sd, and as for titanium backup, i should be good to go, cuz they are internal?

You should copy your nandroid backups to your computer before formatting, then copy them back afterwards if you will be needing to restore from them.
As far as Titanium Backup, they're by default backed up to the SDcard also, you should copy these over or sync it up to dropbox (via the app).

The easiest n safest way for me..
1. Backup your old apps using titanium backups
2. Copy titanium backups folder from your old SD card to the new one..
3. Insert your new SD card to your phone, restore it using titanium back up.
4. done.
thnx

Another good method is to create a backup folder on your PC and copy your old sdcard there. Then copy it back to the new card. This has the advantage of giving you a backup in case of failure of the sdcard or the Titanium Backup not restoring properly.
Of course, if you're really OCD like I am, you could do both!

No, it will save the data on it (if present). You will have to reinstall your apps, or restore them using Titanium Backup, as mentioned before. You will need root access for the last one.
someone have "titanuimback" zip for cwm ?
I don't know if there's titanium backup .zip..
why u can't install titanium backup...?
Is your device already rooted..?
yes, but i cant install it, its says that i dont have enough memory.
but i have 90Mb free.
OMG
I just move the apps on SDcard to phone (by link2SD)
and then i tried to install titanuim backup and it worked.
i guess that its installing on SDcard.
bb, thnx for the helpers
I would use my external memory card reader that I use for my Mac and plug it into my eePC and the built in sd card reader. Then all I do is copy the files straight over to my new card no problem. If I didn't have that option then I might make a disk image of my current sd card and have my new card be restored from that image. That way I could be sure that the new card is EXACTLY the same as my old one. I've burned disk images like this so I can install Linux onto a computer and I don't see why it won't work for an sd card.

As I was flashing a new rom [CustoNexus, while I had a 4.2 build rom... if it matters] I noticed practically all of my sd card data migrated into a folder called '0', which is making me unable to access backup data
Why did this happen?
And I thought I'd just cut the data back into the SD card and delete this folder, just want to make sure with you guys that it's safe

In android 4.2 sdcard handling was changed dramatically. The result is that the root of sd card is no longer where it used to be. For now on it's /sdcard/0/.
CWM has not yet been updated to support this, so it will search for backups from the root of sd.
Simply move the "clockworkmod" folder from /sdcard/0/ to /sdcard/.

Anyhow, my SD card was formatted when I've just installed a new rom, so no problem anymore ...
Hi
I have just partitioned my sd card through recovery mode, and when it rebooted, all my apps had gone, the icons are still there though. How can I get these back? Also my photos etc. I didnt backup the SD card properly, so cannot get them from a backup
Thanks in advance
when you say "I didnt backup the SD card properly", does this mean you didn't back it up at all?
partitioning wipes the sd card, so if you don't have a backup of it, then all your photos will be gone unfortunately. there's not much we can do to recover these. i'm guessing some of your apps were manually moved to sd card, which is why some of them have disappeared as well.
which recovery were you using? clockworkmod recovery for desire doesn't make the best partitions, also uninstall rom manager if you were using it. i would recommend repartitioning your sd card with 4ext recovery (requires s-off) or gparted, search for guides.
then reinstall your apps which don't appear through google play. if you're lucky the app data should still be saved, so things like game saves etc will still be there.
you also have to make sure you're actually using the new partition. i don't know which custom rom you're using if any? it may have an a2sd script built in, so when you reinstall apps they'll go to the ext partition. otherwise you may need to use terminal commands to activate it, or flash a separate script. check and search the rom thread...use another app like 'diskusage' to browse your partitions.
Thanks for your reply

Rooted and flashed my phone last night and everything works great. However, for some reason I can't see my internal SD (I think this is what it's called) anymore in file explorer. It's weird because in CWM I can view the internal SD just fine and can see the zip files I flashed. Any ideas on how to make this visible again in Astro or File Explorer (PC)?
EDIT:
I switched to TWRP and I can now see that my entire internal SD folder has now been moved to /data/media (?????). How do I make this visible from PC? Also I'm confused now..where do I place ROM zip files I want to flash? I don't have an external SD card

I'm guessing you flashed an AOSP ROM? When doing this the system partition creates an emulated folder of your internal memory. You can locate it in any root browser by navigating to /storage/emulated/0/
That is your actual internal sd card. Now you know where to place all your files. Your pc should read this directory by defaut
EDIT: your memory was always in data/media. However flashing an aosp Rom will add a secondary partition and that's the one you wanna go to.

The rom I flashed was: [4.2.2][AOKPA:CM10.1] ParanoidKANGdroid 2.32
Navigating to /storage/emulated/0 does show the "current" internal memory and this does show up on PC
I guess what the problem is, I am trying to access the internal memory from my "old" stock ROM. I know it exists still because in TWRP it shows up under data/media. This folder is NOT what is displayed in /storage/emulated/o/.
When I navigate to data/media in astro it shows up as empty (Actually the "data' folder is empty)
Okay so I got access to the folder using Root Explorer. Is it safe to delete everything in "data/media"? Its literally everything from the old ROM and nothing from the new...

It is safe. deleting everything from /data/media/ is the same thing as formatting you're sd card. So unless you don't care I'd recommend just deleting any old files from your previous ROM that doesn't actually appear in /storage/emulated/0/. It's just taking up space. If you decide to return to a TW ROM, /emulated/0/ will still exist but will no longer be your phone's default memory location until you revert back to aozp. Just keep that in mind.
