Hey guys,
I've got a little question (like no other time xD)
Mainly: Is there a camera capture quality difference between Custom sense and non-sense roms?
Since you don't got the sense thingys and a different camera app (Android JB camera app / Zoom FX / Sense app)..
But i'm running CyanogenMod10 and I think there really is a noticeable difference: Sense rom are better quality. Not tried a custom Sense, but Cyanogen compared to Stock is less quality, I think.
Can anyone give an answer to that question or is it really not noticeable or just a personal opinion?

Sense camera gives superior image quality mate.
Sense ROMs will give same image quality as stock sense unless it comes with camera mods which gives a little extra quality.
Sense is optimised to make use of the image chip sensor where as AOSP isn't due to closed drivers. If you want the better pictures stick with Sense.

I think that I know answer to this question, but I have to ask it.
Is there any possibility to port Sense camera app and all of its features to AOSP/AOKP based custom rom ?
The only thing that I like in Sense overlay is the camera app.
Sorry if this is answered somwhere, I didnt have any luck in finding the answer.

No, the Sense camera requires the Sense framework which is not present in AOSP/AOKP based ROMs. If it could have been done, it would have been done long before the One X came around.

I'm actually on AOKP build8, with Faux kernel, everything is fine, I like the look and feel (but missing the original HTC feeling, would love them to unbloat sense a bit and get to the origins...)
The one big thing missing (for many peoples I guess) is the Camera app...
Now here comes the question : haven't there been sens phones which camera app had been ported to aosp allready (like HTC Desire ?)
If this was possible then, isn't it now ? (while taking in consideration 4.0 is different from 2.X...
I'm just thinking to have a look at Venom (but hey, AOKP will get Jellybean much much faster )
Should I try Venom or is it justwaist of time ? Is there a way for the camera to beThanks for everything

The HTC camera needs the Sense framework, so it's almost impossible to make it work. The only way to have the best of both worlds is to use a sense rom with an aosp theme.

I know it need the senese framework, else I would not ask for it to be ported to AOSP
My question is not on how top prt it, but if a camera apk from sense has ever been ported outside of it.
I'm not too eager to go bck to sense, as multitasking is crap and just have 300MB more romsize for the camera ? Not sure...

This will not happen due to the closed drivers. Hence why on most aosp and aokp roms on any device we rarely see the stock applications running on them.

The Sense camera app is the reason im not using a custom rom yet, I want to use Epsilon Project (based on AOKP 4.1.2), but I want the sense camera, it is sad to hear that it is imposible to do this :crying:

EpsilonProject has a pretty nice camera that makes me forget the Sense one.
I only need to figure out how to disable face recognition.

the virtuous infinity with sense 4full makes very good..
i remember that even the MIUI was great
however, you do not see a big difference.
You'll get the best camera quality with Sense ROMs (both GB & ICS). The next option would be CyanogenMod 7.2.0. The camera will never work as good for AOSP ICS and JB ROMs because the phone wasn't meant to run them by design, in the sense that the available drivers and libraries aren't made for AOSP. They have to be hacked, modified and backported from GB and the resulting quality of photos and video, while decent, is not as good as that with Sense ROMs.
The camera in Jellytime 8.0 works great for me. I have had a few problems with previous builds but the new one works great.
It's a tie between MIUI camera and HTC Sense. If you can get a sense camera, keep it. If you can't (like on a non sense ROM), go with one of the MIUI cameras. I recommend #17 (google it). I think they're pretty close in quality and usefulness.
The MIUI camera doesn't run on certain ICS ROMs, to make it work, you need to go to camera settings and change the size in pixels of the picture. Every time you leave the camera, and get back, you need to change the pixel size (change from 8mp to 6, then back for best size).
In JB go to settings and disable HW overlays, or else you'll get messed up lines of color running through the screen.
In GB you should be completely fine.
Hi,
Anyone have an update?
Some new ROMs, stable and with a good camera?
In some jelly time I have found some bugs or problems with autofocus..
Thank you for your reply..

I have tried various versions of cyanogenmode .But None of it has come to my expectations in terms of camera. As HTC Wilfire S has 5megapixel
Camera its an asset to have that camera. How Can Somebody Compromise with it.
Can Anybody
Hellp me To find the Rom For CyanogenMode having better Camera as the problem is When i Use Flash First the Flash of the Phone Occurs Before the Photo is Clicked there is no proper synchronisation between the to?
HTC camera app is customized for best performance for our phone. Where as there's nothing like that for other NON-Sense roms.
You may not find the same quality with cm roms. You can use camera ics which gives pretty good images to me.

I currently use this RobotoMOD ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1781391) and don't find the pictures any worse than from the stock ROM's camera application.
They may look a bit better, but thats just placebo effect I think

So there is any difference between Camera and Camera ICS? Didn't seem to me (but I can be wrong).
A good camera app is a thing I really miss in CM9

I find later's quality better than stock app. IDK maybe it's just a illusion?

The stock camera in CM9 works fine for me and I don't miss any feature. The quality seems to be the same as in GB Stock Rom also. So what do you miss?
Of course the stockrom's camera is better than the CyanogenMods, eg the CM Camera doesn't have an autofocus ... And the quality's much better...

Back in the days of CM7 I liked my Camera360 which deffo had better image quality and a picture could be taken just by touching the display (now a problem when trying to take a picture of me and a gf, for example).
hi,
i don't like the gapps camera and want my good old "original" camara back. is it true, that is only possible with a sense rom?
if so - all mentioned sense based roms here have this "original" camera in the same quality? i'm to nooby to understand the differences in the sense versions.
my really first (original) sense rom (2.3?) i had the best camera. after the updates, camera was quicker, but at the cost of quality.
i'm missing that kind of "warm" and sharp pictures.
i haven't found - but is there a thread where i can see differences from all the stock/aspo camera roms?
hints are very very welcome.
thanks and regards,
thomas
I don't think it is possible to get the sense camera from 2.3 to jellybean

Hej Thomas. If you don't get any luck with your quest try FV-5 Camera. I don't know if it is fast or slow compared to your favourite but I find it very competent.
hi dmwwitz,
i know this app - have it on my hox+ - i'll give it a try on the desire. but main goal was to get the "original" camera app back. speed and all this things doesn't matter, if quality is poor.
Why does the camera in my HTC OneX as blur as I take a picture at 20 cm distance.
My camera was good on the stock rom but it hasnt been very good since i flashed Cyanogenmod.
Aside form being on a stock rom, I dont think there is much you can do about it

That's the difference between aosp and sense roms. The camera needs the sense framework for full support. It's common known that the camera has less performance on aosp/cm based roms.
