Around 11mbps during peak hours and 18 max so far. T-Mobile speeds has been consistent in Jacksonville, FL for about 3 months now. I rarely see edge. Maybe they're starting to light up 1900 band towers here and there. can't wait for LTE!

I have two of them. One is away from the house where I get better coverage and speeds. The other one is at my house speed wise.
2 miles from my house I get speeds that are on par with verizon. Damn good.

What have you flashed on it? As far as I know, the LTE phones doesn't have SIM cards?

3g shouldn't be an issue since it runs on CDMA no SIM card. It would be an issue for LTE if there is a problem with the embedded sim card.
Try to choose CDMA only in data connection, if it works, there is an issue with the embedded SIM, and you should take it to SPRINT or make a warranty exchange.
Are you sure you flashed the right ROM? To talk to SPRINT you better go back to stock, unroot and lock bootloader

I'm not getting more than 3Mbps down and 1Mbps up, while my wife's iphone 5, speed test taken simultaneously, will get over 10Mbps down and 5Mbps up.
Any idea why this might be or how I can fix?

A LOT. go look at your settings and look at data usage on the speed test app after running about 3-4 tests
