I've read a lot of posts complaining about battery life, and other posts about users suggesting ways to improve battery life. I've read stuff like, disable LED, haptic feedback, lower volume, lower brightness, LTE turned off, underclocking, turning off sync, live wallpapers, etc, etc. To me a lot of people are crippling their phones. If your battery can last you 10 hours, that's enough because you'll probably be somewhere you can plug in. What's the point of being able to go for 20 hours when you'll probably have the opportunity to charge it before then? It's better to have and enjoy all the features.
Maybe somebody can chime in and give me their point of view.

I agree. I would never want to sacrifice a feature just to extend the phone's battery life. Instead I use a custom rom that has all the features (and more) and 12 to 18 hours of battery life.

Part of the issue is a sociological thinking pattern between wanting "more" and needing it. Depending upon the type of lifestyle you live, sometimes, battery life is of dire importance to have if you're constantly migrating around. But I agree, some people who aren't in that sort of disposition go overboard with it.
I just bought a bigger battery :good:
I agree wholeheartedly. If your battery is lasting you through your day (which mine does, and more) then why try to conserve it?
Yea its funny stuff people complain their battery only lasts 20 hrs but yet they want it to be able to do everything a computer can do and more....

The only conscious effort i made to extend my battery life was to undervolt the CPU a bit, but this was more for the lower temperature advantages with extra battery life being an added bonus. Beyond that i turned off things i dont use like BT, no need having something running that i have no use for. Overall i was happy with the stock battery except for any kind of heavy video or game usage which drains it pretty quick - solution : bigger F'n battery :highfive:
i agree that some people seem a bit obsessive about it. but we shouldn give bad battery life a pass either. hopefully we will see some sort of advancement in batteries to have better battery life while keeping them at a decent size.
i was kinda worried id have horrible battery life with the S3 being that its LTE. my last LTE phone was so bad it would die after 8 hours idle.

I keep the brightness to the lowest setting anyway, but I do all of this because I go to school fairly far from my home, and I'd like to be able to play games on my phone without wasting 5% battery every 15 minutes. I haven't switched power saving off since I bought the phone.

I bought the extended battery because I like playing games from time to time and I don't want tl have to worry about my phone dropping 15% after playing something for 5 minutes. Like someone else said earlier. It really depends on the kind of lifestyle you live. I for one don't mind having the extended battery on my phone but I do miss how light it used to be.

How heavy is it? Does it fit in a case?
For me, and I want as much battery life as possible to avoid those situations where there is no way to charge you phone even if that only happens 1 a month or less.. As a parent I can't just let my phone die on me... I always need enough to be able to take or make that important calls/text. My goal is to have at least 20-30 hours of battery life per charge.
I think the only major feature I've given up is live wall paper. Other then that, it is just disabling other unused apps like gtalk, talkback, Google bookmarked sync. As well I've uv my phone as much as I can and run a 1350 max clock speed. I really don't see any major dip in performance as long as you do it right . I do use Tasker to disable syncing globally when the screen is off and make sure it automatically disable bluetooth after 10 mins once it disconnect. Also I have the Y5 app to automatically toggle wifi based off my network location. The most useful battery saver I've found is to set my wifi to only connect when the screen is on. Seems kind of backwards but it works well when very little data is process during idle rather the the phone requiring to keep a constant connection to wifi.

I'm also one of those people that closes an app as soon as I'm done with it. Use an app, press the home button, release and hold home, swipe the app away, sigh in relief. An old habit carried from my S2 Skyrocket, where getting 8 hours on stock was above average.

I have my screen brightness at 40-50 auto off.. i cant imagine turning it all the way down like alot of people say.. even when auto brightness is on it look very dull and dark at night to me.. Same thing for my tv with auto brightness.. but i still get good battery life. I am fully charged at about 6pm i use it till bedtime and use it for my alarm.. get up 4 am and when i get home at 2pm its still over 40%.. only thing i do is close all my running apps by holding home button a few times a day and same with ram
I work in an office so it's plugged in for the 2 hours before I leave so I have everything on full most of the day (brightness, lte...). Also, by undervolting I'm getting 30% more battery.
I think tips on increasing battery life like turning off lte and brightness are for people who can't plug in throughout the day or for emergency situations when you want to get the most out of your phone because there's some reason you can't charge.

I get anywhere from 12 - 23 hours depending on whether I'm at work or off. I can live with that...but there are situations where being unreachable poses a problem.
So, to deal with my phone addiction, I got an original replacement battery. Always have it charged and on me. When the phone shuts down, pop in the replacement and your done. About a minute without a phone. This way I don't have to UV, worry about brightness, WiFi, Bluetooth, etc...
I can't deal with the bulk of an extended battery.

30% more battery by simply undervolting? I think that's quite an overstretched statement. How is that even possible?

Its not possible. Not by solely UVing. The sole purpose of undervolting is so that your phone dosent overheat when running high clock speeds. Saving battery is just a perk. You might save a few percent with the undervolt but nowhere around 30%. But don't take my word for it.....

So I switched from the iphone with edge to the Tmo S2 with Jugg 5.0 ROM + Go Launcher. I really appreciate the 4g speed. However, the overall experience is not as smooth as the iphone and the battery life sucks big time. I normally have to constantly plug the phone in whenever I can. It works ok when I'm at work but when I'm out all day my battery won't last more than half a day. It's so bad to the extent that I have to turn off my phone and turn on when I need to call or text so I can keep the phone alive the whole day. I tried Juice Defender but it didn't help my battery at all.
Yesterday I spent a few hours on XDA and I came up with these solution to my battery problem:
+DarkSide Digital Warfare v2.7 ROM (couldn't find 2.5.1 version)
+Flash Synergy Kernel over (supposed to give better battery)
+SetCPU app (auto detection)
+Zeam launcher
So far, it seems to be better on the battery. Is there anything else I could add to make my battery last longer? I need the phone to last at least the whole day without charge. I'm constantly on 4g looking up stocks, reading news, email, google voice, grooveip, facebook, turn by turn navigation, music, netflix, youtube ...
Thanks,
Welcome to Android.
From what it appears, you seem to be a heavy user. The most you can get out of a Android device with heavy usage is 3/4 of a day (14-18hrs) tops.
You have 2 choices, either you travel with the power cord not to far away and plug it when you need it or you invest a whooping 10$ and buy another battery.
There are tricks to keeping your battery healthy but lasting all day as a heavy user will be very difficult.
If this is a new phone it takes a week or so for the battery to settle in a hold a charge well. After a week or so you'll notice your battery is lasting longer. Also make sure that nothing is keeping your phone awake 100%. Some apps don't play nice and cause issues. Welcome to Android.
Note: navigation kills battery fast, when your using it try to plug into a car charger or something.

There are a lot of things you can do to improve battery.
1. Juice Defender (which you say you have already tried)
2. Limit the number of widgets you run or run no widgets like I do
3. Turn the screen brightness down all the way
4. Don't use Live Wallpaper, also, try to pick a dark coloured wallpaper since white/light colours seem to use up more battery.
5. Uninstall apps you don't use.
6. Turn off GPS unless you need to use it.
7. Turn off sync completely or only have your gmail sync. I don't need to be notified when I get a facebook message so I don't need it syncing every few minutes or every hour, I can check that manually myself.
8. Turn off animations.
9. Close background apps that are running that you aren't using.
10. Use Task Manager to close open apps when you are done using it. Task Manger is your friend.
11. Enable Power Saver Mode.
etc etc.
Those are the main things that I tend to do. I plug my phone in every night before I go to bed as well so I am not sure how long my battery actually lasts. But typically after 16hrs of use I still have 60% battery when I go to bed.
Currently my phone has been on for 7hrs 15mins and I have 87% battery. So you can do the math. I am not as heavy a user as you seem to be, but hope this helps. Peace.
Check out this video it helps show you how to save battery. Enjoy!
Thanks for the inputs guys. I should have said I was looking for Rom/Mod/Scripts/Apps... that can be flashed onto the rooted phone. I have done all the basic battery saving housekeepings as listed by Chochiwpg.

If you are talking about extended batteries that don't require a custom enlarged back cover, you will not get the battery increase that you are looking for, not even close. I cannot speak for the heavy duty ones that require an enlarged back as I do not own one
Gideon's scripts are great with Juggs. Underclock it as well like 384-1080 is a great setting. Also let die all the way down and charge all the way up and repeat for a few cycles. And don't stare at your phone every few seconds either lol! Another thing are the notification lighting buttons at the bottom. Drop to 1.5 seconds.

I have the extended 3800mah battery. It's insanely fat and makes the phone look hideous. On top of that I really don't feel like the battery lasts all that long at all. It's in my pocket all day at school and by 3:30 I'm at 35%. This thing cost me 65$. Total ripoff. I'd suggest spending 20$ and buying two more regular batteries. See what that does for you all

A few things you can do on ANY ROM to improve battery life.
*) Decrease screen timeout to the lowest possible setting.
*) Adjust screen brightness to the lowest level you can tolerate.
*) Decrease the backlight key timeout to the lowest setting ( or off if you have the option )
*) Be sure to only have wifi and gps on if you are using them.
Those will help quite a bit in general however, a ROM like Juggs is meant to really take advantage of the power of your device so its probably wise to move to a different one if max battery is your goal. I love Juggs but had to move on to the AOSP stuff. Also, heed the advice above, allow the ROM a few days to "settle" before making a switch or even a judgement of its performance.
Thanks for the replies guys. So my phone lasted for 9hrs today which is a little bit of improvement. I was streaming netflix for half an hr on the train on the way back home so that may have drained the battery. I have just installed JD, will post back how it goes tomorrow.
So the extended battery is a no go eh. I really don't want to lug around a few extra batteries. I want to carry as little as possible. I normally carry my phone and my ipad but now I tend to not use the ipad much now because the S2 screen is pretty gigantic for a phone.

I know the point was already made but just to reiterate, you can get 2 Anker extended batteries (same size as regular battery) and a universal charger for like $20. This will leave you with three batteries. One for the charger, one for the pocket, and one for the phone. With this system its pretty easy to always have one full battery ready to go and one charging. The battery is small and can just go in your pocket, or maybe even in your wallet depending on your preferences. It solves the problem completely. I don't think you are going to do much better because if you are a heavy user then your battery is going to be used because your phone isn't going to be sleeping.
Good luck.

If you read my post above. I'm against the idea lugging around too many things. It's also a hassle to swap the battery and keep them all charged. I may be a heavy user but it's not like I use the phone all the time. I use the phone heavily early in the morning on the way to work and after 5pm on the way home after work. The commute each way is roughly 45 mins. In between the commutes i make a few calls and texts through GV. I don't think i'm that of a really heavy user.
Anyway, it's noon and I'm at 75% with JD on and setCPU to 384-1084mhz which is pretty promising.
Questions go in the Q&A section
Since you changed kernals, you aren't going to benefit from TDJ's battsaver script you can use with the stock 2.7 kernal.
Go lower on the max frequency. Something below 800 mhz. Setting a negative gloval mV doesn't hurt, and if you can get to -62.5, that's great.
Oh, and when using data, try GSM only...
To be honest, the larger problem with battery life is typically the user. There's no real magic on making the phone last longer other than using it less. If you're going to be power using the hell out of it by using 4g for hours streaming media, your battery is going to be ****.

Don't you think it is ironic for me to switch from the iphone to the S2 because I couldn't stand the slow 2g Edge connection then have to lower data speed to GSM (2g) just so I can use the S2 long enough?
I think the S2 is one heck of a device but the OS and Apps are not running very efficiently.
I tried the ICS ROM ARKSIDE.UCLE2:: x[BETA07.1] in the last 2 days with setCPU at 384-1026Mhz. I have had great battery life. I got home at 12 am yesterday with a 2% battery. Today it's been 7 hrs on battery and my battery is at 70%. I don't know if it is the ROM, setCPU or a combination of the two but I'm pretty happy with the phone right now. ICS is awesome too.
I highly recommend that solution to anyone having a short battery life problem with their S2.
It is a little ironic since you did bring up the comparison. What I was attempting to do was to bring the phone more into spec of an iphone to get similar battery life. You're probably going to even get better runtimes due to the battery having a much larger capacity and better screen technology. All that superior hardware packed in the t989 is going to need more juice to run.
It's great you're getting good runtimes now. From my personal experience, once I drop down to the single digit percentages, it starts lasting a lot longer per percent. If you wanted to squeeze all you can from the device, those 2000mah aftermarket cells might add another 15~30 minutes.
I noticed my battery life is terrible. My phone is only like 5 weeks old. I've tried the battery saver apps, power-saving, and pretty much every other tip. I start off with 100% in the morning with brightness turned down and everything else and I mainly listen to music more than anything so the screen is usually turned off. It still manages to go from 100% at 7:30 to about 17% at about 4:30. And the phone is turned off for about 3 of those hours. Also the other day I started playing TDKRw/100% battery life at 7:30 on high brightness and power saving was off. At 10:00 the battery life was at 15% not to mention I paused the game a lot. Is this normal at all?
Seems ODD. My phone is like that as well but one thing that i noticed is turning off cellphone data. that helps battery life big time. try that and see how it goes.
The TDKR, would be normal, the high end games just gobble up power, often even consuming more power then a charger can keep up with.

I was like that when I bought my phone, but after playing around with some ROMs and kernels, I found what's working for me - ParanoidAndroid + Ktoonsez kernel = 2 days moderate use and over 5 hours screen time with 100mV undervolt
OP might have bad reception too, that'll eat your battery up
Reception is a killer battery eater.
Especially for me, just moderate texting and some short phone calls will drain my battery.
It's because where I live, the signals are fairly weak and I will get EDGE or 3G data most of the time.
Additionally, check your wakelocks. Sometimes applications run during when the phone is supposed to be asleep. Getting a handy battery measuring app will help.
Also try turning off sync or turning your settings for e-mail, google services, etc. to manual so they won't run when you're not using the device.
Otherwise, the forums probably have dozens of posts with tips on increasing your battery life.
There are many battery threads, true. But as of a day or two ago, you only need one!
Woodrube ported his thread over for us. I highly recommend evrryone take a few min to read it!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1969741
For those of you with poor signal and wind up on Edge, turn on wifi if possible. It uses less power than your data connection, plus, by having it on it disables mobile data leaving only the voice connection which is much easier to get a strong signal for. So in every way this could help with battery savings.
Even if you have a great signal, your wifi will still use less power. I always connect to eofi when I'm able and the sleep policy is set to always stay connected. If you set it to disable while asleep it simply will activate mobile data in its place.

Alright first of all, i want start off by saying that i LOVE this phone, both in terms of hardware and software, however, theres is a HUGE problem that i just can't get through and its the battery of this phone...
It is simply unbearable.
I have posted the screenshots. This screenshot is taken after 1 whole night of charging. In 5 hours or so time, I've use the music app for about 1 hour, talked on the phone for about 5-10min and sent about 10 text messages. I didn't do any web browsing/videos/gaming. I have also disabled LTE and turned my brightness to minimum with eco mode on. These small things drained my battery from 100% to less than 10% within 5 hours which i find to be completely unacceptable.
Last night, with me browsing the web on the bus for about an hour or so, it drained my battery from 85% to 3% by the time i got home...
I've looked at the battery life thread and it seems like im the only one experiencing this issue. Also not only does it drain SUPER fast, it takes a good 4 to 5 hours to recharge this thing. Which means it takes longer to charge than to use up even with minimal use...
Do I have a faulty phone and should I get it replaced???
Something's amiss. The only time that I've gotten less than 10 hours, is when I had my work email connection set up to "always connected" and wifi was turned on. Even then, I got 9+ hours of battery life.
Disabling lte is part of the problem. When the phone is in 3g, it uses fast dormancy which LG did not implement very well and it runs the CPU constantly. I encourage you to contact LG and your carrier and complain. don't let them tell you about background data or applications running the battery down. With the same apps running, this does not happen on lte. This can easily be verified by enabling debugging and then capturing a logcat from adb with lte both enabled and disabled. It will show fast dormancy trying to set network states every second. I spent a lot of time trying to get this issue recognized, but they kept saying that it had not been reported and was not a known issue. Let's make it a known issue so they will fix it.
How about actually showing us what you used instead of screen shots of %.... would be helpful...

Well, a little update to this thread, i've disabled every different kind of syncing possible and i've been able to pretty much double my battery life from before, which is a lot better but i still wouldn't consider this to be good battery life.
I've been reading many posts regarding battery life, and it seems like there is some issue within the software that prevents the phone from going into deep sleep which is causing the lack luster battery life. This issue is on both the optimus g and the nexus 4, so i hope the devs may look into this issue when they are building custom roms for these two devices!

Also today I left my cell at home and it was unplugged at 100% after 9 hours I came home and saw it at 95%.

You definitely seem to have some weird issue's. My Optimus is great for battery life. My previous phone was an Xperia Arc and this has significantly better battery life without even running it in "eco mode". The only time I have noticed less then stellar battery life was when I had some app's running in the back ground that would keep refreshing/updating which kill's the battery.
Androids usage readings are inaccurate. Please consult this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1179809
From what the picture shows I would guess its your 4G connection. A Hardware fault is improbable. And forget these things like "eco mode". Even if they underclock your cpu it won't give you a real benefit,
I've had great battery life on mine. Even when I've been geeking out on the device for several hours during the day.
Perhaps you are on the cusp of LTE coverage? If so, then the radio can kill your battery while looking for a signal.

I also have amazing battery life IMO, coming from a Galaxy S. I have no LTE in this area so am using only HSPA. Using the phone with casual use, I can easily go a full 24 hours on a charge. With very very heavy use I can go from 8 am till around 11 PM. I am very happy with the battery life overall. I'm running on "eco mode" FWIW.
I hate to be the guy that asks this, but I just want to make sure as from what I understand this is different from phone to phone. From what I understand, Li-Ion batteries, like the GN2's, do not have a memory effect of any kind? And thus all battery calibration rituals and nonsense are entirely pointless for this handset?
The reason I ask is because I wasn't able to charge the device to 100% before use like I was always told to do with new phones. My device was turned on and used until it drained to around 10% at which point it was charged to 100%.
Now, after 2 weeks of use, I feel that my battery is not as good as it should be. I'm barely able to get more that 12 hours. I'd be happy to post some battery graphs in the morning.
One last thing, if I did mess up my battery, or if my battery is messed up or less functional than it should be, would buying a new battery fix all my problems?
Youvare right. All that calibration stuff is nonsense.
I have never charged my phone to full before using and draining the battery and my phone still lasts all day on mostly heavy use.
Could you post your batt stats?

Today I ran my phone with the "lowest" possible settings, that is lowest brightness, CPU power saving, and no haptic feedback. I did not turn off wifi. Doing this I was able to get a surprising 16 hours, although you can see from the graph that I didn't use my phone as much. Attached I have a screenshot of what it's like with the highest possible settings (no power saving stuff, and brightness all the way up, but no GPS). Sorry I don't have a pic of the percentages for the high settings, I never thought to do that.
What concerns me the most is this: even with the lowest settings, I'm only getting 2 hours screen time. (last pic)
What's interesting is that you would think that if I'm getting such poor screen time, there would be something else using a lot of battery, but there isn't. This led me to believe the problem was with the battery. I discovered a pretty big scratch on my screen the other day, and I have some monthly insurance plan from best buy, so I was thinking of just getting a new one. The longer I wait to get a new one, the harder it will be to set up everything again. lol
I noticed that compared to other GN2s, mine seems to wake up a lot when the screen isn't on. The awake periods tend to correspond with drops in battery and also when I have a poor signal. Could this be caused by my phone trying to look for signal and using battery?
Yes poor signal that results in the phone searching for better 3g/2g will drain the batteey faster.
Can you try using it in airplane mode with wifi only for a day and see how that goes?
Also install Better Battery Stats and after a day or so of normal usage check your partial unlocks to see if a rogue app is preventing deep sleep and sucking your juice.

Yeah it us definitely your signal playing a role. Also you have a lot of wakelocks showing up
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda premium
Dude you have major wakelocks that eat up 80 % of your battery!
Go to application manager and remove all the apps you don't use.
K, I agree with my week signal using battery. I only have 75 apps on my phone and they're all pretty mainstream, no obscure apps. Right now im in school with 86% battery, I'm turning on airplane mode now. I have noticed however that when I clear my ram it closes like 50-60 processes each time. I am always closing my apps, but 50 seems extremely high. im gonna turn on airplane mode and see how that goes...
thanks!
Yes, you do have poor signal but that's not all. You have terrible wakelocks pal. Install BBS and monitor which apps are the culprit. It's not about 75 apps, even 2 or 3 bad apps, which have hidden advertisement going on could suck your battery flat in no time.
So first thing, install BBS. 2h screen on time is horrible!
Btw- If you're on 3G, try to switch to 2G. Difference will be unthinkable.

Thanks everyone! I'm really loaded with school work, so I don't have a lot of time right now. But long story short, airplane mode saves my battery like crazy. I started school with 86%, turned on airplane mode, and I'm at 79% right now! more later
Is it safe to say I fixed it?
3h screen over 2 days isnt bad right? Perhaps just a bit worse than what others are getting?

Currently running Jedi x11, and have had if for about a week now in order to test if there are infact major improvements.
I never really sat down with a timer and timed how long it took my phone to deplete, or charge, so I won't have an exact time duration for these, but I can confidently say, that since I got Jedi x11 on here, two things have started to happen.
1) Battery takes a very extended time in recharging. Both when in use, and set aside. - Previously, my battery would fully charge anywhere from 1 1/2 - 2 hours from about 15%.
2) My battery is depleting ridiculously fast. I type fairly fast, I'd say about avarage, and just for an example, I started this thread at 93%, and at this very moment, it's now at 91%... Even when not in use, the battery seems to deplete at a much faster rate. Tethering is also very draining now. - Previously, again, never timed it, but I am sure by the constant use of my phone that I've had for some time now, that this wasn't ever the case before.
This is just my observations: It would seem Jedi helps when the phone isn't in use. I'm not sure if this mentioned CPU sleeper helps with that or not, it's hard to tell as like I said, the battery goes down even when no major screen time is in use. Maybe it's something I have to turn on? Maybe not. Another, observation, when I am actively using the phone the battery will drop fast. Like, double fast.
And lastly, I observe the battery life will stay on a certain percentage longer than it does others. (Currently 89%) I took about 10 - 15 minutes writing this.
Any thoughts? Thanks for any replies I do get.

I'm glad I'm not the only one with this problem on this rom. Phone takes 9 hrs to fully charge, I was starting to think I'm going crazy. My battery will charge fast if I go back to stock. But I would hate to go back because of this.

Well guys, I'm not sure what's going on, but, it should be noted. The Battery on this thing just lasted the entire evening from last night (7pm) up until now, with about the same amount of use that I did the days before when I noticed abnormal battery depletion.
Currently at 47% and I've yet to charge the phone. Of course that is with the fact that I put the phone in airplane mode while I sleep for a few hours. I watched a lot of video, listened to audio, and it's as if they thing knew I wasn't pleased with what was happening, it's now behaving like it should.
This happened a few days ago also, where the battery lasted 16 hours and was at 27%. So this leads me to think it's something that happens on and off, and I have no clue what triggers it. phone ussage rains the same. Took about 5-7 minutes writing this, and the battery marker only went from 47%, to 46%.
Credit where it's due.

a lot of factors involved when it comes to battery. based on my experience, try to see what's going on with your system using this thread. noted post 1-3. also investigate about your kernel. i am using perseus kernel and my charging time is pretty good improving than on stock :good:. also i can undervolt CPU.
where you at and which service provide you use, again, have impact on this case. i used to be with t-mo and now trying h2o (att mvno) and my battery is dropping faster when i use data. i believe since at&t coverage is suck where i am at, specially when indoors, thus phone radio has to work extra harder to get reception and shorten battery's life.

In the early days of Android CPUs were not very efficient. Undervolting helped battery life. That is no longer the case. Most good kernel devs will tell you they hate under clocking because it has a placebo effect and makes their kernel unstable.

thanks ronnie. it's good to know. wondering why some of them (well known, i believe) still offering CPU voltage adjustment (up & down) if they see it inefficient ? is it because the kernel still in beta thus come with tweak utility ?
Yeah, there is definitely something awkward going on. I took my phone out of airplane mode this morning and started viewing FB for a couple minutes; a battery that was at 98% is now somehow at 92%. It's definitely on and off. I wasn't even watching any videos or anything like that.
Would all the apps that are in ram be sucking juices this badly? I had to terminate a lot of em just a minute ago. Or, is this thing somehow giving me a false charge reading? Battery seemed to charge faster than usual last night.
I'm not even fully certain the devs read these question forums at times.
I'm runnng the international XXDMB6 based ROM on mine and currently, I'm at 76% with only an hour and 3 minutes of screentime?
I don't use Wi-Fi.
My LTE signal is rather poor.
My screen generally stays around 50% but it's on auto.
Of course I let my apps sync. But that's pretty much just gmail and facebook.
I have my weather set to sync once every hour.
I uninstalled the apps that are pretty much bloat (flipfonts, the hubs, the samsung live wallpapers, musicFX since I use DPSManager, Samsung's music app and that's all I can think of)
I'm running Perseus's kernel with about 200-350mV undervolts.
Is it truly the poor LTE signal that's taking such a toll on my battery life? I used to average 5-5.5 hours before my battery dies. Now I'm betting I'll only get around 4. When I had Verizon, the power draw from LTE was unnoticeable from 3G. Is it really that different on GSM phones?

Battery life is very noticable with lte. Reason being that volte doesnt exsist yet so two or more radios jeed to be active at the same time.
Im suprised you couldnt tell a difference on verizon, it was night and day for me.

I found Battery Drain Analyzer helpful. I kept it running for a couple of months and was able to determine which apps consume the most power (widgets, by far). But, after having spent hours trying different underclocking configurations without success, I ended up buying three extra batteries. It's really awesome to not have to worry about it. I just keep them in my pocket and swap them out as needed. It's not a very technologically advanced solution, but, it sure is effective. I use this Charger for the spares. It takes a long time to charge the batteries, but charges them fully to 100%, whereas, charging the battery in the phone doesn't seem to work as well.
