How is the One X and how is the rom support? - HTC One X

Hi guys, looking at buying a One X possibly tomorrow, tossing up between that and a Nexus, so I'm just wondering how the roms are for the One X, are they fully functioning? How is Jellybean? Does the camera work 100%?. I just want to make sure I'm making the right decision, I don't like sense tho haven't used it since 2.3.4, so I'm looking to rom basically as soon as I get it, and I need to know if everything is working, or if there are missing things and big features missing etc. Also how do you like your One X?

here we are again... everything is alright (for me) and official JB is near

Thanks for the reply. So everything is unlocked and relatively easy to flash roms and all that? Just don't want to make a very expensive mistake that's all

Yeah I've read about that .In your opinion are the specs worth the harder flashing compared to the nexus ?does unlocking the bootloader still boid your warranty?

Its not hard at all to be honest !
And yes its worth it, its an amazing device.
And now with the build quality being FINALLY issue free(ish) then yeah I'd go for the HOX.
The dev section is extremely active and the ROMs and support are brilliant.
Can't comment for the Nexus though as I only have the Nexus 7, but again that is active and good support.
So if I was you, I'd pick the one that looks/feels more of a phone for "you" and don't worry about unlocking etc. As it can be done on both
And on that note, I think the HOX is a much nicer looking phone.
YES IT VOIDS WARRANTY AS ALWAYS.
Hope this helps.

Depends on which Nexus you're talking about.
LG Nexus > HOX > GNexus

Gnexus. Hmmmmmmmmmmm tough call.I think the one x is the way to go then. I'll keep it stock for a while and eventually flash a ROM. Have there been many hard bricks ?had bad experiences with HTC and bad emmc chips

[Q] Would it be possible to create an app that gives temproot on startup?

Like a simple one click app that just pushes everything it needs too while in temproot and sets itself to startup with the device? I know its silly of me to think that it could really be that easy but I have no general understanding of how these things work (though I would love to know). So what do yah think? Can it be done?
That would be neat. I'm actually debating returning my Droid 2 and reverting back to my original Droid inc since it was everything I wanted. Seems to be a giant development interest in the inc. I upgraded "because I could" basically. I miss my WiFi tether and screenshot app...that's about it.

Then why has nobody made one yet? I mean I don't know how to program or anything so I don't really know how long that would take haha.. But yah it would be nice to be able to reboot my device without using adb to get root every single time..
Stability would be my concern, but to be honest I don't know many developers flocking to inc2, HTC's recent decisions make their devices less appealing to many developers.

Good purchase at this time?

Is this a good purchase right now? In the situation i'm in if I don't get this phone I will be stuck with my nexus s for 2 years so might as well get a new phone for the 2 years. Also do you guys think this will get CM9? Thanks.!

This phone is getting CM9 eventually. Cyanogen's update said it was coming after the international version s2 one rolls out.
Yo bro this is the best phone T-Mobile has believe me u won't be disappointed grab it. And yes we will get cm9 after the exynos devices. snapdragon is next and devices alike and were in this category
CM9 will come. This device is the top 3 devices out right now, and will still be relevant after a year or more.
short answer: yes
I took advantage of the FAR V-day sales last week. I was tempted to wait for the Galaxy Nexus, but it seem T-Mo is always the last one to get any decent phones. Since my Nexus One was showing its age, I ordered the GS2 and renewed a 2yr contract. I figured as long as the hw is capable of running custom ROM's, it really doesn't matter if it's the Galaxy Nexus or Galaxy S2.

By the time CM9 comes out, many other phones that are far better than the GS2 will be out, including the GS3.
If you really want CM, get a phone that supports it initially.

No we definitely need the drivers that's why we need Samsung to drop ics. Because building drivers from scratch is no easy task. It can be done but will take a while. That is why a lot of devs rather wait for that it will make life that much easier when compiling a rom. I know xboarder said he is building drivers tho. We need those for sound, touchscreen, and etc.. also cm prolly has already done this we will prolly see something from them before official

[Q] Galaxy s II or not?

Hello All,
I’m seriously thinking of selling this phone and going to an HTC Sensation. My main reason is ROM support. We really have a few ROMs and all are really the same Stock with modifications and different themes and colors.
However with the HTC sensation, there is Ice cream, MIUI, ice-cream sense, etc. basically many more options.
I was so pumped to get this phone at the time I sold my HTC sensation but I find myself checking the Development threads ever hour, daily for a miracle. I don’t think Santa is coming.
I know I’m going to hear it but give it to me everyone, Should I sale or wait? I’m on the ropes.

Yes I have the Sensation, well the XE, and I would have this phone over the GSII anyday. The specs of these phones are similar, but the sensation has more in resolution. Also I use ICS as the only rom. I might try Sense 3.6. Also the Sensation may get a port of HTC sense 4.0. So get the Sensation

Hm. Let me see this. But we have other good devs. Either way we will still get a AOSP ICS ROM with maybe CM features, or others that can conpensate for it. And Sense is pretty!!! I would stick with HTC. And from a non developers POV (lulz) The HTC has nice Build Quality.

If you had exynos version you know what I mean.
But don't forget I'm rocking GN on jelly bean and loving it. But that doesn't mean I can't say some bad about it.
2 things to consider if I were you:
1. If you want the pure Google experience, not a hybrid vendor/android phone; definitely the GneX or wait until later in year for the Nexus line.
2. If you prefer a bit more "powerful" hardware right now, the Galaxy S III is the best option in my opinion. Of course you have to deal with Carrier lock and Samsung's TWiz running on top of Android OS.
Both are win win situations, just depends on your preference...

It is a great phone indeed. And the community here on xda looks even greater. Good support, good devs, a plethora of rom's to choose from, Jellybean, 4.1.1, 4.1.2, etc...
At this price range, the One V kicks ass. Has a very beautiful display, a great camera, great battery (on stock at least) and a solid body.
take the plunge and buy one v!
There are better phones, personally i like the HTC ONE V(cdma) but there are better phones if you chose not to go with VM.
For the price, it is a really great, well made phone. Love the aluminum body, and the battery life is great. Sense is sluggish on the single core professor, but a pure jellybean ROM fixes that. Not sure what you are referring to with one button breaking the phone unless your talking about pressing up instead of down when booting into hboot. Not really a deal maker for me, I just don't press up when going into hboot
Sent from my One V using xda app-developers app
This device is great for me. Mid-priced, a great camera and had a great variety of ROMs to choose. And the most important thing: DEVs on XDA of the One V is GREAT!
Thanks
Thanks for the input and response.
I picked up a mint 2nd hand sensation for the same price as a new One V.
it's my 3rd sensation and i know it will be a better fit for my staff member.
Yeah that QHSUSB_DLOAD bug is very annoying. I got it even spontaneously (my phone just crashed while I was playing a game, then it was bricked)
But I heard that issue is fixed in the newer boards.
when I had the stock Rom it was ... so so.. more towards the -ve side.. but with CM9 is amazingly good.
So with Stockrom its #fail.... with CM9 its #great
I won't say its a fail with stock/Sense ROM, but with CM it's better indeed
