WiFi Connection problem. ( Network Disabled. Poor connection) - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

The weird part is it says "Network Disabled. Poor connection." but the bar is strong. It has always worked up until the last 24 hours. No god damn google-ing was helping. It is set to wpa/wpa2 PSK.
What the hell is wrong with it. The 4glte works. I haven't downloaded anything obscure.
Provider Telus.

Wow, I now have the exact same problem with my SGS3 (international version without LTE). I already tried "forget this network" on my phone and "delete this device" on my router but it still wouldn't connect.
I installed the official JB update a couple of days ago. Never had that problem before.
Edit:
I could fix it by disabling DHCP and instead assigning it a static IP in my network. Though it is still a bug because if I'm in someone else's network (e.g. Starbucks) I usually wouldn't be able to use this solution.

Okay, it stopped working the next day and now everything I try, I can't get WiFi to work.
****ing piece of **** phone. Since the official Jelly Bean-Update (my phone is not rooted and no custom rom or whatever) several things stopped working. My ****ing Google Calendar just won't sync anymore (says "sync is currently experiencing problems, will be back shortly" for 2 weeks now), ****ing WiFi stopped working. I'm really pissed right now, mostly because I didn't customize my phone for exactly those reasons!!!

Honestly, what were you expecting? touchwiz is notoriously known for being absolute trash. None of the issues you've brought up occur on custom ROMs. Bite the bullet and flash one already.
Sent from my Galaxy S3

My solution for "Network disabled. Poor connection" problem.
I had exactly the same problem today (SII, ANdroid 4.1.2 - Samsung leaked) but the history was a bit different. After the flashing all worked fine for several days. Today I upgraded my WiFi router with the new firmware (before I used the 5 years old one) and on my Droid the problem occurs. What is important, I got 3 devices in the home network: my Samsung Galaxy S II I mentioned, and 2 others - HTC Desire HD and Galaxy Ace - both with tje Android 2*. WHat was strande, only HTC worked withut any problems, both - Galaxy and Ace stopped connecting to WiFi.
I read a lot of posts, i undersand that the available solutions are: static IP (not acceptable, I need to connect to different WiFI networks every day) or rooting phone and clearing DHCP configuration on the phone (not available without root, as in my case). But - because everything worked ok before, without any changes on the phones (!) and as I read in the posts the problem is network-related, I decided to find the issue in the router configuration. So I cleaned the conf. of the router (reset to thefactory default settings), removed the information about my network from the phones, connected my phone to the "Clean" unprotected WiFi (default WiFi set-up after the reset), and then step-by-step added more security configuration on my router. First - changing the WiFi SID name, through the wireless mode (AP), then network mode - from B to Mixed, and then security modes WEP, WPA, WPA2 and algorithms: TKIP, TKIP+AEP. After every change on the router (several router restarts needed unfortunately) i tried to connect my phone to the WiFi. Finally I added the MAC filter. And... everything works OK!
I propose to test the same solution. In my opinion the phone will connect without any problems to the unsecured WiFi, then one can find which step, which area of the config cause the problem - if it is solved when setting the mixed network (B/G) or maybe some of the security algorithms are not accepted.
I know that in fact it is not the fastest solution, but in my case the problem was solved - I got the same security level and settings as before when I had this error! Probably the changing settings of the connection which must be aplied by Android, do quite big 'revolution' in the DHCP conf. files of the phone, and the result is the same as after clearing the folders after rooting.
I hope my solution could be helpful!

No need, mine works fine...

I have exactly the same problem. Started right after the 4.1.2 update (SGS3 international). Unable to connect to any secured WiFi. Always the same: connecting -> authenticating -> obtaining IP address -> disabled (and a popup about poor connection).
Sometimes it does connect if I reboot or first reboot after factory reset.
Tried about 4 different routers. Factory defaults. Still the same.
I guess it's time for an unofficial ROM...

Stock JB ROM? Router model? 2.4 or 5Ghz?

I had this exact same problem, I had 4.1.1 and I odin flashed to 4.0.4 thinking it was the JB update. I found out that my Wifi password was off by 1 number and instead of the phone telling me my password was wrong it would throw that error at me. As soon as I double/triple checked my password and entered the correct one, my phone has been working fine ever since. I am on stock 4.1.1 JB.

Did anyone find a solution to the Wifi Problem on 4.1.2?
Regards

I think i found a fix, for some!

I fixed it, change router to 5GHz mode, although the rest of my house uses the 2.4GHz.

Some routers can broadcast on both frequencies simultaneously with different SSID's. I know newer Netgear routers do this.

Mine is still upset most times even on 5ghz. Forgetting the network seems to fix it for me. It is just a pain to do that dance every to time I get home.

Yes no WiFi at all after 4.1.2 OTA update.

I747 already released official 4.1.2?? Or is it custom ROM?
Try clear cache and dalvik if you're on custom rom

any fix?
any fix for this?
notes on my exact situation
-wifi works fine on many open networks and private networks for both myself and my gf (both using galaxy s3 phones)
-the specific network is a private network at a business (my gf is the owner of the business so we have access to the router and its settings)
-we have both previously connected to this network before without any issue.
today neither of us could connect to this network. we restarted our phones, the router, "forgot" the network, and eventually gave up.
This is very frustrating as we both spend a good amount of time in the business (coffee shop) and it seems that no one else has connection issues, not other phones, not laptops or tablets, not anyone else. Both of our galaxy s3's just keep coming up empty on this one network.

Help!
I have the same problem after root my i9500 with CF-Autoroot on 4.3.
Already tried everithing but after some time from root it lost connection and can't connect again, even on other router.
With 4.2 always worked fine. But now, if I do the root process the wifi works only for 5 minutes.
It start with the first 4.3 update, but even now with the last 4.3 I9500XXUEMJ9 I can't root.
The "Network Disabled. Poor connection" is the only problem, everithing works fine. The root is ok. Knox freezed.
But now I have to flash the stock firmware again to get wifi working. That is the only solution (remove root) until now.
Any help?

[Q] Wi-Fi "Authentication error occurred"

So I have tried to trace my issue to it's roots and after a lot of investigation I decided to make this thread.
The issue:
When connecting to home wifi network I get "Authentication error occurred" even though it's the good password.
It first occurred on stock 4.1.1 ROM with stock Kernel even before rooting. What's more interesting is that I've successfully used the same wifi network for around a month. Other devices connect just fine, no settings on the router changed when this started happening. Didn't fiddle with any settings on the phone neither. I can connect to free wifi APs just fine.
What I've tried:
Dialing *#0011# and from service mode disabling wifi power saving feature.
Using all possible encryption combinations on the router (Open - no password, WEP, WPA-PSK AES and/or TKIP, WPA2-PSK AES and/or TKIP or both WPA and WPA2 at the same time), switching channels, disabling 802.11n mode.
Using some modded wpa_supplicant files from this thread.
Using a bad password just to get a different error.
Downloading some other wifi connectors from the Play Store including Wifi Connection Manager which claims to "Fix device Wi-Fi problems." by cleaning the stored wifi config files and maybe something more.
Flashed Omega v10 ROM with Perseus kernel.
All these things and basically any combinations of them worked to no avail. And the only thing that helped was being very close to the router. That way I manage to connect but moving a couple of meters away, like to a nearby room, and it starts giving the same error even though the network strength is still full at that point.
My thoughts:
I saw a similar issue at a couple of places including a similar thread last active dec 23rd, Android issues on code.google.com and androidforums, but no solutions found there worked. Also comparing how my old original Note and an even older LG P500 perform, the wifi signal is obviously weaker on the Note 2. My area is not heavy on wifi networks, so my guess is there's something wrong with wifi drivers or configuration. Sooooo.... What can I do to remedy this issue and also is there any way to beef up my wifi in the process?

I had somewhat the same issue. Autentication error.Even though WIfi worked properly on my Galaxy y.
From v9, I flashed v6 Omega and then everything was working fine. So go ahead and flash Omega v6.
And after that did you go back to a Jelly Bean ROM?
Edit: at first I figured omega v6 wasn't JB, but then I checked... For the peace on my mind I'll try flashing Omega v6 later today.

When I went to v6, all was working well. But when v10 was released,i flashed it,hopiing that the wifi issue is not there but alas same result.
Before flashing,I made a backup of my wifi folder found in root folder /etc/wifi .
After flashing v10, and overwriting the wifi folder with the one that i had backed up, the issue was solved even on 4.1.2 for me.
Worth a try mate.
Do report back.

Authentication Problem Wifi - solved for me
Hi folks - I had the same issue with my Galaxy Note I717 (it's the AT&T Note 1) that I got yesterday. I have no problem with my T959 Vibrant to connect to my router at all. But the Note always gave me the authentication problem. So I took it with me to work today and no problems at all to connect to Wifi over there - everything just worked fine.
Back at home - same issue. So I was thinking about to reset my router when I saw this button on it's side and I remembered that I had read something in the settings of my phone.
So that's what I did: When choosing the network on the phone I went to advanced settings. WPS - here I choose Push Button. After that I pushed the button on my router and voila everything worked as supposed.
After switching Wifi off and back on there was no authentication problem anymore. So to confirm the whole thing I let the phone forget the connection and I had the same authentication problem. After choosing WPS "push button" and pushing the button on the router everything worked again.
I don't know - maybe it's just basics for a lot of guys here, but I was glad to figure that out by myself and maybe it helps someone else.
In the case that it might be important - my Note runs stock ICS 4.0.4, stock kernel. is rooted and unlocked. The Vibrant runs ICS Passion V13.1 and Kernel Kiss Yum Yum Good #2. The router is a D-Link DIR 655 Wireless N
Following up the thread:
No, flashing omega v6 didn't work for me.
What I found out is actually 5 GHz band routers work just fine (for example at my university) and all the 2.4 GHz ones give the same error if I'm not close enough to them (something like 5 meters with straight visibility and 2 meters behind closed doors with my home router Comtrend WAP 5813n).
I have called Samsung's Warranty Center to ask for assistance and since we don't have official Samsung service centers in Lithuania, they told me partnered service centers might just return the phone to me as it is and so they would call me when they found out more about this issue (that was almost 2 weeks ago). Will call them again tomorrow and will post any updates if the story develops.
EDIT: After talking to them they apologized for taking so long and assured me I was not forgotten and the issue was forwarded to UK because they have no records/info about it here in Lithuania. Strange thing is I still have my phone, they didn't even wanna check it out.
Note 2 wireless issues
Lads I tried EVERYTHING to get connection working after it dropped on me after a month. Done everything I have read on every forum. EVERYTHING. All other Samsung devices work fine except this note 2! One other odd thing I discovered. It connects fine to any modem or roster fine then when try again on each it won't. You tell me guys? I had it with this issue. Help before I chuck it in Port Phillip Bay!
Hello Jumbo,
i had the same problem and read a lot threads about this error message.
For me it looks like not all who get this error have the same problem.
Some wrote that they fixed it by
- exchanging the wifi folder with the one from 4.1.1..
- flashed a different kernel
- downgraded to 4.1.2
- changed wifi energy saving stuff
- messed around with their routers
and so on..
I also did all this stuff but with no success..
In my case I figured out that
- the same problem exist on 3 different routers (so it couldn't be a router issue)
- the wifi speed (when I sometimes got connected) kept falling from 65MBit down to 5MBit
and by having a wifi connection, I couldn't reach any webpage.
- then I recognised, that I only had a working connection, when I was close
to my router, like 1 or 2 meters without anything between us. In this case
I had no problems with authentication and to surf on the web.
I decided to send my Note2 in for a repair, and guess what... They changed my
Mainboard and since then, everything is back to work..
How long did it take for the repair? I can't imagine being without my phone for an extended period....
I know, it's an addiction, but I'm ok with that..
Steve
I have an identical issue with my S3 GT-I9300
For a totally reliable wifi connection, I've had to site the cradle for the phone on top of my router!
Am out of warranty, so if anyone finds a fix for this that does not involve a mainboard change...
(My first post on this site- I just wish it had been a fix rather than a query)

Sorry for the late answer.
My repair took 1 week...
shipped it to w-support on Monday and got it back Saturday.
I was really happy with w-support here in Germany.
I've reset my device to stock and so far it's been sitting @ warranty center for a week, no answer about the roots of the problem yet..
May have found a solution
Hi,
I had the similar problem. With me it started happening after I changed to a Zyxel modem. After some investigation I noticed that in the Zyxel the default gateway is set at 192.168.1.254 whereas most other brands use 192.168.1.1.
Have an inkling that Android doesn't play nice with non-192.168.1.1 gateways.
So changed this in the router settings.
To be sure I also allocated fixed IP on the LAN to my devices and made sure that in the advanced settings of my WiFi network on the Android device I made sure the primary and secondary DNS addresses matched those that the router uses.
Oh.. And to top it all off I fixed the broadcast channel of the router to channel 11 (Probably best you use an app like WiFi Analyser from the Play Store to find the channel that works best for you)
This seems to have solved it for me for now. (I know, not a very scientific method, but got fed up with trying to isolate the culprit)
BTW. Am running (1) Galaxy Note on latest stock ROM (rooted though) (2) Galaxy Tab 2 7" (stock JB ROM - non rooted).
Hope this helps..
Sounds so strange that gateways and channels did it for you. I've tried to change channels on my router with no results. Also I have tried way too many routers before I decided router settings were not a problem. I guess we may have different kind of hardware/software faults resulting in same error message.

I know. It is weird.
Mind you only a few hours have passed since my changes. I'll keep an eye on it if it reverts to it's old state.
Ok.
Had the same issue again this morning, but oddly enough, once it connects, it stays connected. Also when the phone is put to sleep.

[Q] Why isn't by LG4 getting any internet from WiFi (5Ghz and 2.4 Ghz)

Hey people!
So my Lg G4 (H815) arrived today I was running through the setup and noticed that it struggled to connected to my WiFi at first. I just skipped past it thinking it would fix itself once it fully installed and turned on. However it is having trouble getting the internet access. Anyone come across this issue? I have tried a factory reset with no luck. I was considering flashing a a rooted firmware to see if this resolves the issue but later read that the current ROM doesnt work well with Taiwan imports.

I have an issue not connecting, but my speed. It's SOOOOOOO slow when I connect to Wifi, but blazing when on data. I have seen from other threads it's an issue with 5gHz but 2.4 should be fine. I'm going to check my router when I'm at home in a few hours to see if that fixes it.
I had same troubles with Wi-Fi to the point where I was packaging it up to return and did a factory reset. This APPEARS to have helped my Wi-Fi issues

I am having similar issues on my AT&T variant. I've tried 5ghz and 2.4ghz. Same issues on both bands. I also tried a factory reset. Didn't help at all.
I bought the phone last Saturday. I'm considering returning it.
Same on unlocked 815 wifi just dies during transfer lg UK were none to helpful suggested reset did that then buy another router, finally after 30mins he decided it could be a hardware problem and suggested I return my handset.
Ok, so i had the LG G Flex 2 on AT&T when it first came out. And this exact issue cropped up. I thought it was maybe, well, the Flex 2 was a terrible phone anyways, so figured it was par for the course.
Next up, got the G4 H810 on AT&T, SAME ISSUE. Mind boggling. The other household device, LG G3 AT&T , never a hiccup.
So i'm figuring, maybe LG has changed something somewhere, until i realize, its only my home WiFi this issue happens. Worse thing was it's so random, Chrome works fine, FB loads terrible, Weather App can't grab GPS... So i was getting pretty frustrated.
I decided to check my router settings, and for whatever reason, i fired up the guest network and attached to that instead. BOOM, issue resolved without lifting a finger (other than changing wifi networks).
Why my guest network works, and the main does not, NO clue.
Must be a router security protocol situation. I will see what the difference is when i'm able to check the router settings again. Clearly, there is a difference somewhere, but why it affects the G4, I can only blame LG on this one.
FYI - rebooting router, nor factory resetting your G4 will fix the issue - there are other things at work here.
ALSO, my equipment is a cable modem router combo, Netgear C6300 - late 2014 model -

The Guest Network ability is a feature of the router. Your router would have to have this feature.
Typically also setup with its' own SSID and password, but again, it would be within the settings of your router, if you can setup a guest network. :cyclops:
I also only consider this a current 'work around', as my phone doesn't need to share content across the LAN to any other equipment, so it just having internet access works for me. But still no clue to the technical nature of why is has the issue in the first place. I also used to believe i was alone in the matter early adopting the G Flex 2, i guess nobody bought that device, since i couldn't find anyone else online having the issue.

Now I am interested too so I will be testing the guest network! I am going to probably leave it unlocked just to see if it is really not the security protocol. I usually run on the WPA2 AES could be something that the phone is unable to handle. So I will check and report back, I really do hope this fixes it because this is the issue that makes me hate my phone so far!

Poor WiFi performance

Hi everyone,
I've noticed that when this phone is a bit away from the AP I get poor or no traffic even though the signal levels are good, which makes me believe the RX or sending signal is low which makes it impossible for the phone to talk back to the AP. Perhaps the Wireless antenna layout in this phone is flawed or maybe only in my phone. Anyone else noticing similarly results?
Also engineering mode says 5GHz wireless as supported by the chip, wonder if it's possible to show up in the wireless settings? Maybe it's disabled because of China restrictions?
Skickat från min Elephone P8000 via Tapatalk
I have the same issues.... When I am far from the AP even though it will connect with a decent signal (two bars) after a while it will lose connection and try to reconnect and once it does, it will lose the signal again and again... I have also noticed that this does not happen so easily with 802.11n APs. I have installed the Wifi fixer app which allows the phone to reconnect almost immediately and this has minimized the problem but it very annoying.
I do not know if this is an antenna issue since it does actually discover many wifi networks that may even be in buildings across the street and also because I have seen an improvement with the latest 0909 firmware.
The problem however does exist even with the flyme version. I haven't tried eragon's version yet since I am waiting for the one based on the 0909. It is a baffling problem...
The main problems for me with this phone are the wifi disconnections and the gps accuracy, if these two are solved I believe that this is a phone that I would happily keep for a couple of years. I keep my fingers crossed hoping that the developers will find a way to solve these.
I doubt that these Wifi-problems can be solved by a mod. I regularly observe that there is no wifi throughput, even though signal strength is absolutely OK. After disabling and re-enabling wifi all is good again - for a certain time. To me it looks more like a software problem that prevents data to flow even though there is a good enough wifi connection, maybe something wrong in the network stack. As for the 5GHz: Most modern chipsets support both bands, but as far as I know separate (at least: special) antennas are required to support 5GHz. Could be there is just no adequate antenna built into our P8000...
I also have the issue you describe Brewn - I first posted in the Eragon thread but it's better in this one(copied the conversation below...) I have found no fix either and it's v.annoying!

It would seem so, yes. Sorry about that.
From your description it seems to be the ”ghost bug” which plagues Android 5.0 + and affects with the exact same symptoms cellular data, Wi-Fi or both - with or without an exclamation sign over their corresponding icon(s). There's no permanent fix at the moment, but you must know that Google itself rolled out 5.1, 5.1.1 and 5.1.2 trying to weed it out (and other bugs as well, but especially this one). It can affect any device, irrespective of the brand.
Another possible explanation would be a hardware fault - such as a bad antenna connection or worse.
There may very well exist an app like the one you're describing, but that function is built-in Android since at least 2.2. Check it yourself by entering system settings/Wi-Fi, then from the menu (the three dots) tap Advanced. Then tap ”Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep” and check ”Always” if it isn't already so. Note that if you have installed any power saving app, those too can disable Wi-Fi while the screen is off. Android itself does exactly that (and more), cutting off any radio data when the power is too low.
You may want to post this in Troubleshooting too. Let us know how it went! Best of luck! 

Thanks for your suggestions, it does sound a bit like the ghost bug but it is annoying that there is no fix...my wifi during sleep was set to always so I've just changed it(a few hours ago) to never but I don't think that will make a difference somehow, a hardware fault is possible I guess but the random nature is weird? I am looking for an app that kinda toggles wifi off during sleep then on when screen wakes up - don't know if this will help(if hardware fault then I guess not!) perhaps I should stick it in troubleshooting as it is driving me nuts!
Hi everybody,
a couple of firmware versions and kernels later this topic is still not addressed.
On my P8000 I can regularly (say every 30-90 minutes) reproduce the following:
I am connected to a Wifi, the connection is good and I get decent transfer rates. After a while, no data gets through anymore, despite the wifi signal still being strong. After turning wifi off and on it immediately works again.
It does not matter what wifi network I connect to, it's the same at work, at home, at the hotel lobby - anywhere. And it has been like this ever since I got the phone, with stock and eragon ROMs.
The thing is: From looking at the phone I can not tell if it is connected or not. I have full wifi reception and full 4G, but still (as wifi has priority) as a matter of fact I am not connected. This is bloody annoying when waiting for an E-Mail or a whatsapp to come in, because I have to disable wifi to make sure I get the message on time.
Am I really the only one with this problem?
Cheers,
D
Hi,
I only bought the P8000 last week and observed this problem at home when I connected the P8000 to my WiFi network consisting of three access points on different floors of my house using the same SSID. The phone could not receive from or sent data to the internet after I changed the floor and the phone connected to the access point on that specific floor.
After changing the SSID of two of those access points and every access point using its own SSID now the problem seems to have gone. I don't have it anymore for three days now.
Hi,
while I have the same setup at home and at work (multiple access points with the same SSID) it is no option to change that setup. It's also a very common setup at public places.
At least this seems to narrow the problem down to a faulty implementation of the wifi drivers. Is anybody capable of looking at the sources or give me a pointer to the driver sources?
EDIT: Check out the app WiFi Roaming Fix - it is supposed to fix problems with many APs having the same SSID. I am trying it right now.
EDIT 2: OK, seems to work. The app crashes sometimes but does it's job. I have not been offline in the last 4 hours.
can you guys test this kernel version?

sorry english (or norwegian) only
For me this kernel solves the issue. Great work!
I have the problem after 30-60min the wifi signal is normal/strong but there is no dataflow at all. It only helps to restart the router. I have no problems with other wlan devices. the problem is the same on two p8000. I dont want to install any kernel or roms because of warranty.. i can send the phones back 14 days. If there are no official solution i need to refund them =(

Please could you modify wifi in the latest kernel stock ROM 20151105?
Or modify wifi in visi0nary's kernel - http://forum.xda-developers.com/elephone-p8000/orig-development/kernel-visi0narys-kernel-t3226081
I am using it, is excellent, but would like to improve wi-fi.
Thanks.

Can you please do the same wifi adaptations in the latest core of the stock ROM 20151105?
Thanks.
Can you guys try the tiltkernel 1.5wifi to see if that helps or like me try the WiFi roaming fix app which was mentioned over on that thread and it seems to be better for me than the WiFi fixer(donate) app which I had been using for a while. I can't use that kernel as dt2w doesn't work for me unfortunately.
Looks like @tiltkoko83s fix works! If it can pass my tests I'll merge it into my kernel upstream.
Thanks tiltkoko83
I think I've noticed this on my P6000 Pro too.
Can anyone give steps to prove the bug exists?

Hi tiltkoko83,
I've already written that latest stock ROM "20151105" (and earlier versions also) has serious Wifi performance problem. Now I have made a comparison phones: Elephone P8000 and Lenovo P770 - the same place, the same router, only one phone connected to router in the same time. Result: Elephone P8000 is 5 times slower than the old phone Lenovo P770. It occurs in areas with poor Wi-Fi signal.
Could you make for us Wifi modifications for latest kernel 20151105 please? Thanks.

Weird WiFi issue in some apps after updating to Android Pie

Two days ago I got Android Pie update and recently I noticed some issues with following apps:
YouTube
Nintendo Switch Online
System update
Signal Private Messenger (well, this works sometimes...)
The issue is that those apps stoped working on WiFi. They work fine when I use mobile data (cellular connection) but simply refuse to connect when I use WiFi. Other apps work just fine (including web browser - Chrome).
What I have already tried:
Forgetting WiFi network and registering it again
Completely resetting network settings
Restarting phone
Cleared app data and cache for those problematic apps
Reinstalled the apps that can be reinstalled
None of the above helped fix the problem... Phone has stock Android straight from Xiaomi, I didn't mangled with it in any way.
For my WiFi is broken since Pie update.
In my case, Twitter and Twitch app refuse to load too. Even Google Photos wont sync, it says "waiting for WiFi connection" besides WLAN is in ON and working.
Cant access certain sites.
Funny thing is that, for eg twitch app won't work, while in the same time mobile version of twitch works perfectly fine

Good to know, I was thinking about doing that...
It is really hard to do something about it. I played around with DNS settings (they added that in Pie) but even changing DNS didn't seem to resolve the issue although YouTube started to work (for now at least, but I don't think that has anything to do with DNS changes). Other apps from my list are still broken...
Same issue for me when I was on stock Pie. I don't know why, but using a VPN fixes the issue for me if this can help
Im thinking about flashing CAF kernel https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a2-lite/development/caf-caf-kernel-mi-a2-lite-daisy-t3880135
It is using different WLAN driver. But this requires unlocked bootloader, and this will cause another data wipe... Also there is no certainty that this will fix the problem.
Have you tried connect to another WiFi? Maybe this is releted to ipv6/MAC adress/DNS. Router/Access point issue?
From what I see phones gets IPv4 address BUT it has two DNS addresses. One is IPv6 and the other one is IPv4. I think both point to my router. I haven't changed anything in router configuration and WiFi worked fine on Oreo... I will try different WiFi network tomorrow at work
Do you have bluetooth on? I found out that when m bluetooth is on, WiFi conwction ia really bad. This os only on pie.
Check out my thread. https://forum.xda-developers.com/mi-a2-lite/help/bluetooth-wifi-conflict-pie-update-t3883829
So, I tested my phone on my office WiFi and surprisingly apps that I mentioned on my list worked. It seems that Android Pie on my Mi A2 Lite doesn't work well with IPv6 WiFi networks. Office WiFi is IPv4 only and assigns two IPv4 DNS addresses while my home WiFi assigns two addresses as well, but one of them is IPv6. I will try to recofigure my home network and see if that will help (I guess @ShadyTurtle334 mentioned something about possible IPv6 problems)
Yep, switching network to IPv4 only works like a charm. Android Pie must have broken something because on Oreo everything was fine... Does Xiaomi has some sort of issue tracker?
Maybe post your findings here https://en.miui.com/forum-205-1.html
Yes, it is MIUI forum, but our A2 Lite is listed there, so i cant imagine better place.
Also, you should have app for that, i am not sure how is called in your language (orange icon with smiley emoticon?)
It seems that my Router/AP doesnt have options for ip configuration, maybe i am blind.
edit1; There are similar threads already. https://en.miui.com/thread-5119175-1-1.html
edit2; Forced IPv4 in AP settings, now WiFI works like a charm!!
WIFI Problem after PIE update
Hi, Irecently updated my phone to Android 9.
My phone model is:MI A2 LITE
There is a problem with WIFI. Some applications such as Instagram, google play game or Telegram cant use internet.
Somehow something like Firewall stop them, But other applications such as web browser, play store,... are connected to internet.
When I am using my SIM CARD data there isn't this peoblem.
I dont think the problem would relate to modem or wifi , because other mobile models dont have this problem and theyre working without any interruption.
Thank you to pay attention. Please say me how to provide this problem.

The only way to fix network problems is to flash again to 9.6.4.0 Oreo and stick with it or 10.0.2.0 and OTA update to 10.0.3.0. Other versions seems to have corrupted modem.img and mess with SIM cards slots (swaps places and/or one of the SIM isn't working). Just check my other posts.
I never had problems after flashing 10.0.3.0 and I did it several times. There is no corrupted modem.img or something like that. These problems may occur when you downgrade from Pie to Oreo, that's why Xiaomi warned about it.

Well no. Issues with the network started after OTA update to 9.6.11.0 thus the only way was to update further to Pie or to downgrade. I updated but issues persisted so the only way was to downgrade and reprogram sim slots.
All of this may be because of different parts' vendors so not all of the A2 Lite react the same, or you just didn't notice, because you don't use two sim cards at a time or/and bt, wifi & location at the same time. It may be max 1 mbit you can achieve on the wifi but for a phone is a decent speed. Personally I can't stand it, so I dirty flash 10.0.2.0 and now everything work as it should.
This is about network problems on Pie. So either you can't read or just stupidly assumed that everyone had their devices downgraded, then updated and thus network issues. And if you weren't be so lazy and read further, you would have known that modem.img from Oreo can solve network issues.
Sent from my Mi A2 Lite using Tapatalk
@thorin0815 And why would you flash several times if there were no problems at all? Reseting yeah to start fresh but flashing means something's wrong.
@wenna.speedy Turning off & on some features or messing with your modem settings while other devices work properly is not a solution.

How absolutely F**KING ANNOYING!!!
Here, in my area, I was told to reset the network every time I had an issue, the problem with that, is that I have to reestablish ALL of my network connections again (WiFi and BT mainly which is a PITA)... so... I used Airplane Mode on and then waited and then off and let it reconnect and this works about 60% of the time.
I want to try this to see if it helps, but holy hell why when you lose it after a reboot? I auto-reboot once a week and manually sometimes when I really can't get Data without restarting.
Painful.

Yes, you have to redo it after a reboot, but it doesn't take long to do, and I haven't tried it, but you might be able to just do the "apply" option since the asterisks are still there after the reboot. This should fix the problem you get for data, so you shouldn't have to reboot for that reason anymore.
ETA: I researched what the Block AP option was and that apparently will prevent you from having to redo this after reboot!

I did this based on a post on Samsung Members previously (you can see that screenshot in my post in the cell reception thread here), but I haven't seen the instructions with the Block AP option in it. What does that do, do you know?
I've seen instructions with both the SA and NSA versions of the 5G selections to choose, too.
ETA: Based on my research, the Block by AP option prevents you from having to redo this after rebooting the phone.
Thanks guys! I just did this and I guess we'll see over the next few days how this works.
Yeah, one day out and I am STILL having connection issues, even after applying these settings. I am going to head to a T-Mobile store later and throw this thing (well, something else) at them and tell them to figure it out.
Nah, the guys at the store are awesome, I'll see what they have to say.

Strange. What are your connection issues? Maybe it is something different than everyone else is having. I hope the store can help you, as I've never been to a T-mobile store and only have been in a Sprint store like three times (before online phone ordering) in the 21 years I've been using their service, so I don't know how much the store people know.
The problem is the mainboard itself, I got replacement from Samsung, which has perfect connection on Android 11, I updated to 12 without any issue. I tried to downgrade the old one back to 11 and the connection issue is still there.

This does not happen all the time, but it happens often enough to where I am worried about work (I am On-Call most of the time and need to be able to get calls).
I am on WiFi when home. Pretty normal.
I leave home and I MIGHT have data/voice
If I do not, I normally put my phone in Airplane Mode and then back out again and things are okay
If I am driving and move to a new tower, there is a 50/50 change I will need to airplane mode again to get voice/data
Resetting network connections (which is what T-Mo told me to do every time) works, but then you have to log back into WiFi and reconnect all your BT devices again, so this is definitely a NO-GO for me.
edit: Here are my settings using the instructions in the OP:
Just curious, but why do folks think this is a hardware issue ? Everyone's hardware failed after update ? I have the issue but following the procedure in the service menu seemed to take care of it for now at least .

Hmm, that is a strange issue! I haven't had problems when driving around locally or two hours away (prior to this temporary fix, but I've had the issue for a while, not just since 12 came out; I haven't driven far since applying the fix, but don't think I have had an issue with it - I did have an issue with WiFi tethering not connecting to my car stereo one day, but I don't know if that was after the fix or not).
ETA: I checked my Google Maps Timelime and that tethering issue happened before the fix.
We lost internet here at work the other day, turned on tethering on the device, laptop would connect but no internet.

Do you have tethering as part of your cell plan? If not, it might not allow you to use it even if you are willing to pay for it. Tethering works well on this phone for me, although T-mobile removed Bluetooth tethering as an option for some reason, so only WiFi tethering is an option. My plan comes with 60 GB of tethering, so no issues for me.
It's part of our family plan.
So, just an update here.
When I originally made the changes, somehow it reverted and the issue still persisted.
I have the changes applied now and have done a few reboots and the settings have stuck.
I have NOT had the issues I explained above since these settings have "stuck", so take that as you like, but as of now, I have not had connectivity issues and all seems to be working well.
I did those settings yesterday afternoon and made it worse..........wouldn't pick up 5g. Finally did a chat session with T-mobile and finally got 5g again.
I did notice earlier in the week that the device kept dropping calls left and right, not sure what was causing that.

Did T-mobile say anything about fixing these issues?
No.
So 3 weeks in after the update and still experiencing horrible data network issues. I drive a lot and this thing has become pretty much unusable on the road. Tmobile offered me to either receive a refurbished Fold 3 as a replacement or to switch to different phone altogether. As much as I love the Fold 3, I might not have any other choice. Have you guys replaced your Fold 3?

I don't have the money to switch to a different phone even if I wanted to, but I love this phone. I just hope they fix it so it can roam. I have the temporary fix on it and that makes it work, but roaming will be helpful for longer driving distances, especially since I tether my Android car stereo to my phone for Google Maps while driving and other apps while sitting in a parking lot etc.
Does the temporary fix not work for you?
