I was wondering the same thing. Maybe the Rom are compatible
I'm thinking of jumping to metro since they're cheaper and actually have lte in my area. I'm tired of Sprints 125kbps 3g

Update root works fine .. and I flashed twrp on the metro s3
Itl be interesting to see if anyone starts a dev forum for metro gs3
Sorta nice to have unlimited 4g for 55$ @ month on the same phone sprint uses on so called 4g

Get the metro s3 theyll finance it for 20 @ week no credit check thru progressive
Or pay the 499
Its totally worth utilizing this phones ability on 4g apose to Sprint crap 2g
I pay 55

How do I go about doing this? I'm ready to make the jump but don't have the $540 in hand. I'm thinking of selling my sg2 and sg3 to pay for it but don't have a clue on the price to ask for both. The financing sounds dope
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium

I did it yesterday. Call all local metro stores ask if they participate in the progrrssive finance option
You fill app they go off your income need pay stub and a bank account
They approve u for from 200-800 in store credit u pay only 10% down of the total u spend so if u get 600 credit
You can spend up to that
So the s3 is 499 so u pay 50$ down and walk with thr phone
They print u papers u call and tell progressive. How mucj u want taken from your bank. ..Each week or once a month
I got approved for 650 in store walked with my galaxy for 500 50$ down plus tax
Making monthly payments
Whole thing takes 30 min
Sent from my SCH-R530M using xda app-developers app

S3 should bring 300 cash on craigslist. S2 sadly sells now for 150 now that its older if they're both real clean
I deal phones a lot so... let me know
Try the metro finance then sell phones and opt to payit off after u sell
Sent from my SCH-R530M using xda app-developers app

I'm almost positive you can flash a ROM meant for another carrier. All of them have identical hardware. Just avoid modem firmware and anything relating to the i9300. BTW how is metro's service?

S2 or s3 new contract

Im looking at the s2 and the s3 i live in Baltimore md. I know there is 4g winmx here because I had the galaxy s a long time ago on sprint. But im going back to sprint from boost because of the unlimited data. Well i was reading and the s3 says is just on 3g until LTE comes out. Well i wanted to know which is the better deal? Or when will lte come out? I had clear and was getting ****ty service in my area so i don't know if that was winmx or not.

honestly I wouldnt take the S3 if I had a choice because there isn't too much of an upgrade over the S2, others might not think so but oh well, if u can get the s2 without a ck tract do so I'm waiting till next year to upgrade and grab the next best thing

I also agree I would much rather have wimax then the slightly upgraded hardware. A lot of phone's are starting to make there way to quad core that is what I am really holding out for.

There are a bunch of s2 being sold now
You should be able to get one cheap

New contract with Sprint, go for the newer phone.
Just wanting to upgrade from another phone, save your upgrade, buy a cheap S2 off of Criagslist to hold you over.
Yeah I'm getting a new contract. I'm with boost now

If you don't want a contract, but want 4G WiMax and are on Boost, why not just go for the Evo Design 4G on Boost, http://www.boostmobilestore.com/bpdirect/boost/PhoneList.do?action=view&id=evodesign ?

I'm Baltimore, Md but Yea both are cool but
Hold off until LTE availability. If everyone does this, it will make them work faster and harder to bring it to us. Plus, by that time, the price of your phone will likely be $99 vs. $199.
I went to a sprint store today. Tried to pay full price for s3. And customer service rep. Said that they can't sell phone without contact. Also went to best buy and radio Shack. And price w/o contract is 100 bucks more than retail

Because after 2gb it's throttled to 3g.

Yeah I think its a good deal. We have a discount and still pay $150 a month for two 4g android phones. Once the wifes contract expires it may be worth it to cancel mine and flash my e4gt to boost.
Just a heads up. I saw this comes with ics and only a 1500mah correct me if I am wrong but I believe our sprint version comes with 1800mah plus with all the battery issue's a lot of people running ics are having this phone might get horrible battery life. Just food for thought

Prepaid services T-mobile vs Straighttalk or ATT

Hello everyone, tommorow morning i leave on a roadtrip to USA. ill be gone for 21 days mostly will be driving on i5 highway and will stay 5 nights in VEGAS and 6 nights in LA. I have the note 2 T889 Same as t-mobile version but from Mobilicity and its already unlocked. what would be a good prepaid service for me to use? unlimited calling , unlimited text and atleast 2gb of good speed data. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks
Trust me 2gb is more than enough for a month. I have unlimited 4g from T-Mobile and I never exceeded 2gb. Hope I helped good luck

So your saying I should go with tmobile prepaid?
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda app-developers app
I go over 2gb because I use my note 2 as a hotspot while im driving with my kids so that they can use their ipods to stream netflix or go on youtube. Im on the $30 plan with 5gb and 100 min. The most I've used so far is about 4.3gb of data and my min are always under 70 min. I do more texting than talk so im ok with this plan at this price.
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda app-developers app
Are you prepaid?
Sent from my SGH-T889 using xda app-developers app
When you travel you going to use lots more data on cellular than you normally do. 2gb of data not enough.

I live out in the sticks (Oklahoma), but in my experience T-Mobile has terrible coverage along even the major interstates. I might suggest ATT if you're going to be driving quite a bit.
I don't think you can get an ATT Straight talk card anymore?

Get either AT&T or an MVNO who uses AT&T's network
Hello,
My advice to you since you are travelling is to either use AT&T, AT&T Go Phone, an MVNO (H20, Net 10 {cousin of straight talk}) Now a few months ago I would have told you without a doubt to get straight talk but like inconceeeivable brought up, Straight Talk no longer sells sim cards that work on AT&T's network directly to the public. Now there are people who sell them on ebay but because they are rare now some people are charging a ton of money now (between 30 and 50 dollars per SIM when it would never go above 15 directly from the company itself) so I would buy from another mvno. If you search "mvno" on Wikipedia you'll find that there are plenty of different MVNO's that use AT&T's (& T-Mobile) network so if you search hard enough you'll have plenty of choices.
T-Mobile is improving faster now and is being aggressive but they have ways to go before they reach reliability status with AT&T.
Sooner than later Net 10 AT&T sims will be no longer (Net 10, straightalk, simplemobile, & tracfone are all owned by the same corporation) so I suggest you go get one. Their service is 50 a month. There is also Red Pocket & H20 but both of these options will run you 60 a month for unlimited talk, text, & web browsing (no streaming of movies and music)
I hope I was able to help.
I have the t mobile prepaid plan with the $30 100min/unlimited everything else plan. I love the pricing and this is truly a plan that fits my needs but damn I wish the service was better. They have always been great with me from a customer service perspective. Net10 on the other hand. ...

Might make the switch

Verizon lied all along by telling me I can early upgrade today and when I try doing so they said not for the s4 and even offered to take money off termination. Any ex Verizon users? How much u guys pay total a mo?

I switched a long time ago, but back then i was paying 80 bucks for less then what i have now and am now paying 67 a month for T-Mobile service. Granted, I lost a lot of coverage, but for what i use it for, its perfect.
I pay $80.00 a month everything unlimited.

for 4 lines I pay 120
Sent from my SGH-M919 using xda premium
I made the switch from Sprint. IMHO I believe that T-Mobile has hit bottom and can only improve their standing at this point. Verizon costs too much to even consider.
I will be paying $240 plus taxes and fees since switching to the new plan style........oh yeah....that price is for 8 Phones!!!! All unlimited calls, texts. Tthen two of the lines with unlimited data and the rest get the free 500 mb cuz they don't use a lot.

Hmm, TMobile will let customers upgrade 2x a year on new plan

T-Mobile to let US customers swap phones twice a year
http://www.theregister.co.uk/2013/07/10/tmobile_jump_phone_swap_plan/
They're really trying hard to attract customers. This is a serious hook, that's for sure.
True...but do the math. It will definitely draw people to T-Mobile, but they are just throwing away money. You are better off buying the device upfront than selling it yourself after 6 months instead of the 'JUMP' deal. If you upgrade after a year, you have just spent 150 for a phone, 240 for the monthly installments, and 120 for jump...that's 510 to lease a phone for the year. You probably could have purchased that same phone for 600 originally. I'm guessing you could have sold it for more than 90 dollars at the end of the first year.
Plus that includes insurance, so may be worth it for people that are willing to pony up for that anyway. T-Mobile is starting to look awfully tempting especially after the new sprint plan details that leaked recently.
What sprint deals leaked? I thought they weren't getting ride of unlimited data

Back when I actually had a 2 line family plan, I payed $142 after taxes (unlimited talk not included, 1400 minutes)
New plan, would be paying $150 if I still had the family plan.

Seems to me then it might only be worth it to stay if you have just one line and if the service is better than t mobile. I winery if this will let people out of their eTF?
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
I have 4 lines with the everything plan. this new plan increase my bill about $25 (4 lines 140 + 110 for the new All-in) but it comes with hotspot on every phone.
I suppose that is fairly reasonable to have the hotspot on the phones; as I don't root my wife's and kids phones anymore. talk about a headache. hehehe
On T-Mobile, I am interested to see what amount of $$ they'll give you when you want to trade in for a newer model. Sprint's current trade in is horribly in inadequate.
