I just wanted to ask, if someone could port this from ace http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1845603
you can use it already.
some ported rom from ace also use ace's framework, and are compitable with ace mods made for that specific firmware.
for example, you can use XWKT7 on adrealine or adrealineICS
Well.. I dont want to flash another rom. Becouse mine stock rom is already moded, I dont want to change it. I just saw nice mods and I though maybe someone can make same flashable zip as in ace forums.
but these will remain for one specific firmware, and every change needs to be done wich is a lot of work

okay I get it. its so sad that its so hard job. I thought its easy work and fits to all firmwares

I know newbie question but if I dont ask it how will I learn.
I have stock rom and just regular TW. Is there any way I could add themes without changing roms or changing home screens?

The search will provide you with awnsers.
You need to be on a deodexed rom and themes don't delete tw

I actaually did search but no answers to my specific question. plus i dont think i said anything about deleting the TW. lol
There is a themed version of GTG TouchWiz (androDENA Gass) but it's only compatible with Froyo. For any other theming you need to be deodexed.
lol , im such a newb ,Im researching deodexed and well its not in laymens terms but i think i understand , so basically with say tw i cant load any themes unless samsung makes it or sprint

There is a bunch of custom roms floating around that are deodexed. Your gonna have to root and install cwm to flash any theme

thanks for the advice and info, im not into changing roms(im not a tinkerer lol) ill just stick with my stock rom and plain ol TW
No deodexed rom needed just use the tutorial in my signature, If u flash the stock rom via clockwork after rooting, you can have stock rom with any theme on it along with mobile ap.
Okay I followed http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1598713
Trying to port a ROM but since I am fairly new to this I need some help.
Where to find the kernel?
What to do to the updater-script
And what to do with the build.prop
Please post help instead of posting that I shouldn't try this, I want to learn and help the gio community.

1. kernel. use the one from cm7 for a rom based on cm7, a custom kernel for stock roms for a stock based rom
2 build.prop edit any device names to gt-s5660 except the fingerprint parse release..... copy and paste that piece into the build.prop from a gio rom, its also in the guide
3 change updaterscripts asserts device checking, format and mount values and delete permissions that dont excist
4 dont do this if you dont know how to port.
5 never post any rom before testing yourself. we dont want devices getting bricked by stupid people that call themselve a developer

The problem with this is, he was following a tutorial to learn how to port
Anyway, I think Voetbalremco covered everything. Try to start with port from ace or something, those are prolly the most easy to port.
Also, you can always port a rom which has been ported before. That way you can compare your own port with the working port and check if you're doing it right.

porting from ace is nothing, just copy some folders and editing a bit of "text" files..

Thats why its easy to start with
if that goes wrong already, you know you arent ready for porting yet
also, that whole tutorial is based on copying/pasting and editing "text"files
Yep, most important: test by yourself, and ask it when u don't understand something, that's how you learn the most

All ports need to be either edited framework to match your Device or replaced framework to match your Device.
When you have done this, you can call it a Pure Port.

hello all,
I want to make my own custom rom based on the stock 2.3.6.
I've read some tutorials about that but I don't get any informations on how to get a base to work with (a flashable zip with all the rom's files?).
So do I have to flash a original rom to my gio and then backup all the files with some software or something else?
I can try to compile it if it's really necessary but I would be glad if I can avoid it.
I don't want to start with a existing all customised rom like enhanced236, I would like to start from a fresh and clean rom and then share it with the gio communty.
Thanks a lot for your help.
I found something about dsixda.
I'm on the right track?
thanks.
on the right track, but just a note: dsixdsa kitchen is made for HTC, and its a tool, you wont really learn much from it, and it may not be fully compitable

If you don't want to build from source your gonna have to know how to edit apks n Smali. Your gonna need apktool, smali, & baksmali.
If you want base it off the stock rom just flash the stock rom n make a backup in recovery. You'll need the system folder from that backup.

Can some one explain me clearely how to get a flashable stock rom zip or give me a link to some good tutorial working for the Gio?
sorry but I can't find something clear about all that.
I've spent a day trying to figure out how to do that but I was not able to make a single working zip
dsixda clearly doesn't work for the gio or I'm missing something.
I only need someone to put me on good track to start. I'm only loosing time trying and testing a lot of not so complete tutorial.
thanks a lot

This has been confirmed to work on the Nexus 4 too but sadly you need a deodexed ROM (preferably AOSP).
They're yet to release it for the Odexed (aka full stock) :/
This is also a way to achieve it (haven't tried it myself) but as he says early in the posts, flashable zip is not the point of that topic
If anyone has a (flashable zip) solution, feel free to share!

Thx mate , but my rom is odexed .
Sadly, mine is too and from what I can make up from the first link I gave there hasn't been a way to tweak it with an Odexed ROM.
Apparantly making it for an odexed rom is too difficult :/
My advice which I'm following too is just follow that first thread and see if someone posts an odexed flashable zip.
Only a few people claimed this one work for the Nexus 4 (somewhere in the latest comments). It didn't work for me as it failed to apply but it didn't mess up anything either so give it a shot.
For the rest, a lot of people are playing the waiting game (or deodex their ROM, which I cba doing myself)
I'm interested in it too.
Maybe an xposed module could work?
Anyway, if I find something I will tell you

Cheers, same for when I find something. But I've been on the lookout since that first topic got created and no one has come forward for an odexed version so I'm not even sure wether it's possible.
About an xposed module, my knowledge about it is far from high enough to go "mess up" the framework
(hoping for more comments here though )

Just had an idea:
1)Deodex the rom via titanium backup (http://androidforums.com/a75-all-things-root/676252-tutorial-how-deodex-rom.html)
2)Apply the quicksettings mod
2)Odex the rom again via Titanium Backup.
I don't know if this could work, and I can't try because I'm not on stock at the moment.
If you're on stock you can try this?
Thanks

I must try that some time tomorrow, thanks for that link
But "Odex the rom again", as I've understood deOdexed roms make it easier to work with and most custom roms are deOdexed so might just leave it there if it works via titanium I'll report back when I try it out

Hi,
I would like 3minit. What roms can I flash that has the framework that I need? I would like the rom to look stock( if possible). A link to the rom will be appreciated.Thank You

please, use the search, this has been discussed plenty of times already.
the developer of 3minit doesnt want anyone porting his work without his permission, and the only person at the moment who has permission is jamison. which means the only m919 roms that are able to have 3minit, are INFAMOUS and ALPHA.
but like i said, use the search bar, its there to help and keep clutter to a minimum
As far as I know it's OK for anyone to install the 3minit frameworks just as long as they don't distribute it in a ROM without permission.

Infamous, Alpha, and Minions
can I install just the framework, and not the entire rom. Also when I install it and install 3minit it tells me that I have 3.1 and that I need to upgrade but when I open the link it doesn't let me get it for the tmobile phone.

Of course, because it's not developed for tmobile phones. Jamison ported it, and Is the only one with permission to use it in his roms. Either install one of his roms, install a i9505 rom, or port it yourself, if you have the skill.
Btw, that search bar sure wants to be your friend, let it
