[Q] Google+/Avast! Error - 'No Connection' - AT&T, Rogers, Bell, Telus Samsung Galaxy S III

Hi there,
Seems since updating to CM10 10/19 NIGHTLY I'm having a bit of a problem with Google+ and Avast!. Specifically, when I try to sign in to Google+, I get an error 'No Connection. Couldn't connect to the server.'.
Same thing with Avast!, where the error is "Could not connect to Google Cloud to Device Messaging (Phone_Registration_Error) Please make sure your Google account is set up correctly"
Of course, I can't seem to set up the Google account correctly since Google+ is not playing nicely.
Any ideas? Is this a known issue of any kind? Everything else web-related is working fine with either my home Wifi connection or my 4G data connection, just seems this (these) are the outliers.
Thanks!
[SOLVED: Though this isn't a 'hey, I fixed it without anything major' fix, ultimately updating to a new nightly and the updated GApps package has solved the problem. Couldn't tell you what broke it in the first place, and clean removing and reinstalling Google+ wasn't fixing the issue.]

having the same issue here with google+, on slimbean 2.8 (CM based) :/
[EDIT] Fixed. Only way was to delete the google account and re-add the account from the google+ app when prompted, you might want to try that.

Google talk authentication fails

I stupidly altered my gmail address from @googlemail to @gmail (I'm in the UK) and then realised that you can't change the account on the phone without a factory reset on the phone so undid it and deleted the new @gmail account from my phone (keeping the original @googlemail one).
Now I keep getting the message that Google talk authentication has failed and I can't download anything from the market - any help out there?
Change it back
I did the same and then had to log in to my gmail account and change it back to googlemail and its fine again now :0
check out the google forum here which is also discussing it

I did the same but ended up factory resetting the phone and reconfiguring it for gmail.com.
It's a pain but it allows you to use Picasa sync and this is something I've wanted f'rages!

Thanks for the response but I have changed the account back to @googlemail from my laptop and it's still not working - as appears to be the case for others form the thread you connected me to

I don't have any purchased apps but Titanium Backup restored my apps pretty successfully.
Picasa sync seems to send small versions of your pictures to your phone. Certainly don't have 2gb of pictures on my phone as I would have noticed this happening.
Well I gave up and did a factory reset back to @googlemail and all seems well. A relatively painless process except that the desire backup routine seems to save a rather eclectic selection of your settings

Anybody got a fix for this?
Thanks for all the hard work from the XDA devs! U guys rock.
hey guys! i have recently installed in my hd2 the 2.3.3 android version and i also have the same problem with google talk authentication. How can i fix the problem? Thank u
Possible fix
I just stumbled across this thread because I was getting the same error on a Mytouch 3G slide and I found a way to fix it. all I had to do was force the phone to authenticate thru wifi and not the cell network once, then I was able to authenticate successfully the regular way after that. the way I did it on my phone was to remove the sim, but on a CDMA phone like yours you could try to activate airplane mode (settings>Wireless & networks), then turn on wifi and connect to a working wifi connection, log into the google talk app, then disable airplane mode.
I had this very problem and fortunately came across a solution courtesy of pascalsg which worked for me that was in the BoyPPC -ShiftPDA Android ROM for HD2. The problem with Talk authentication seemed to interfere with my Market downloading causing any 'starting downloads' to just hang.
First I enabled chat in the Gmail account on the desktop. Then I cleared data on the phone \settings\applications\manage applications\all (for Google Backup Transport, Google Partner Set Up, Google Services Framework and Market as per the solution above. Then I rebooted the phone. Then for some reason there was no authentication issue. I then went into the application settings of Talk on the phone and turned off "automatic sign in. Now there are no repeated error messages about authentication failure and the Android Market works as it should.
google fails
Try a different SD rom, I used americandroid and everything worked on my HTC hd2 now on another rom and Google fails again

This worked perfectly for me. Couldn't log into google talk or download apps from marketplace. Used airplane mode then turned on wifi only, then connected to google talk instantly. After that, I can turn airplane mode off and log in to google talk and download apps.
[solved] talk authentication failed on android
SOLUTION:
NOTE: You WON'T lose all your installed apps if you do this (at least I didn't). However, if you clear the data for Settings, you will lose your preferences. Try doing it w/o clearing the data for settings, then if that fails do it again and clear the Settings data.
1. Go to Settings -> Applications -> Manage Applications
2. Press All (or Show All, etc.)
3. Clear Data for the following Apps (if data is clearable):
- Account and Sync Settings
- com.google.andriod.feedback
- Gmail (and Gmail Storage if it is there)
- Google Services Framework
- Google Voice
- Maps
- Market & Market Updater
- Network Location
- News and Weather
- Search
- Sound Recorder
- Talk
- TTS Service
- Voice Search
- VPN Services
- World Newspapers
- YouTube
- Settings (Settings will close when you clear its data)
I don't use the email client app (not the Gmail app but the one simply called 'Email'), so I don't know if you'll need to clear its data or not. If all else fails, try it (I imagine you'll lose any downloaded emails).
4. Clear the data for any apps associated with any of the above listed apps.
5. Clear the data for any other applications affiliated with Google or your Google account.
6. Clear the data for any applications that aren't uninstallable, i.e. 'built-in' applications.
7. Reboot and you're done. Google Talk should work correctly now.
I'm sure this is overkill. Some of these apps may not have anything to do with the problem but when I cleared the data for them and rebooted, Google Talk worked correctly. Also, I am using an Archos 70 IT so you might have some different requirements for this procedure on your phone/tablet. BTW I got the Google Talk error when I changed the password on my primary Google account.
Good luck!

[Q] Can't access Google account

Hey all, this is my first thread so go easy on me. I've searched, found similar threads, but nothing has worked so far.
I recently flashed Jedi Knight 6 and I am now unable to sign into my Google account or apps (Play Store, GMail, YouTube).
The error I get is "unable to establish a reliable connection to the server". I've tried using wifi to sign in and get the same error. However, I am able to browse the internet (GMail through a browser works), MMS works and phone calls work.
I don't think it's anything really ROM related as the MD5 was correct and everything but Google seems to work.
From searching around it seems to be Android Issue 8636 (hxxp://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=8636).
I've tried:
-youtube fix
-remove sim
-set apn
-etc/host fix
-reflashing
with no luck. Anybody else experience this? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks, Biz.
Bump.

[Q] Galaxy Nexus updated to cyanogenmod 10.2 has no background data (auto sync)

After updating my Galaxy Nexus to cyanogenmod 10.2 the network icon is grey instead of blue. Background data and auto sync are turned on, the google account says its being synced, but I only get new email when I sync it manually. The internet works on the phone and any account can be synced manually, but no matter how I set it, nothing will sync by itself. Is anyone else experiencing this issue (is there a fix)?
Not sure if this is the same issue, but... I was also experiencing greyed-out network readings (both wifi and cell) on my Galaxy Nexus GSM. Apparently google apps is incompatible between 10.1 and 10.2, which causes the phone to be unable to talk to google's servers (which is what a "blue" network icon means).
This silly forum won't let me post links to help other users, so to find the instructions/background, google for "how do i update cyanogenmod faqs" and check out the "Update from 10.1 to 10.2" post in the first link on the cyanogenmod forum. (Think of it like a treasure hunt.)
Updating my gapps addon fixed this issue for me. YMMV.
Thanks a lot!
After installing gapps I had to manually uninstall and install every google app to get them working, but after that everything is good!

[Q] Google sync not working on Kitkat

Hi!
Been having a bit of problems with the Kitkat roms for our device,.
Both the rom and Gapps install fine in recovery (tried with both an ancient CWM, and now latest 4ext) and it boots just fine, but cannot sync with my google account. The usual menu asking if I whish to connect this device to a google account doesn't show automatically like it used to in previous android versions (only the menu to add a cyanogenmod account pops up. Tried both logging in to CM and skipping it, with identical results), and adding my Google account manually tells me it's connected, but it is unable to sync anything (cal, contacts, gmail etc) to or from my account.
Opening hangouts gives me the message "Google Play services, which some of your applications rely on, is not supported by your device", but installing the latest apk of Google Play Services manually does nothing to help.
Play store is nowhere to be found, though for example Gmail shows up like normal (but only says "Waiting for sync" when opened).
Tried Flinny's alpha 2 and 3, as well as Cyankat 1.0 and Nevergone's version as well as two different zips with Gapps. All MD5 sums checks out correctly. Full wiped several times. 4.2 works like a charm.
Has anyone else encountered this problem before? Any ideas what I can do?
Thanks!
Hmm. I had something similar happen as well, though not this exact problem. I kept getting I think it was Google Play Services and something else I can't recall right now kept on FC, so nothing would sync even though it showed the little status bar sync icon. :/

Thanks for your reply. Can you remember what you did to resolve the problem? I'm all out of ideas here, I'll try anything! (yes I'm slightly addicted, okay? I can stop whenever I want.... )
Since yesterday I've tried to dirty flash 4.4 straight over my 4.2, without wiping first. Sync actually kept on working, but Play Store, Keep and Drive couldn't connect, although Gmail and Hangouts seemed to work as normal. I tried to dirty flash Gapps on top of this, but although sync reported that it worked, almost all Google apps FC'd immediately on opening, including Gmail and Hangouts.
Any and every idea is much appreciated!
I am having a similar problem with the CM11 unofficial build for the LG G Pad 8.3. I appear to be the only person trying the ROM having this problem. Any advice would be appreciated.

I eventually found out that my problems were caused by having the wrong bootloader (had the one for the G2, and not the DZ in my case, they're similar but not the same) which had a systems' partition too small to accomodate Kitkat correctly, causing the problems described above. So you might want to check the size of your partitions, but I'm not at all familiar with the G Pad, so unfortunately that's all the help I'll be able to give. Best of luck, hope you'll find the problem!

Google play Response

Whenever I try to log in to my google account, it keeps loading forever. It does not gett loggged in with google account. But if I use vpn connection or mobile data there is no problem only with my home wifi. But my wifi is ok I checked, everything works on my other phone, but on my xiaomi, there seems to be a problem. Last couple of days I used bliss rom android 10, in that rom everything was working fine, but other than that google account does not works. What would be the problem? Is there any way by editing Host file I can solve this problem?
