[solved] Downanimation caused reboot - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
my Bootanimations works fine, but my downanimation caused an reboot of the phone not a normal shut down.
the downanimation is a copy of bootanimation:
i change the pictures and save them (without compression) back into the zip.
right permission are the same
can someone help me ?
EDIT:
I changed the name of the images into _01 ... _09 and retried it without an solution

No one, who can help me?
It bothers me a little, that i need to pull out the battery to take off the phone.
please xda pimp my mobile xD

You are using Insertcoin Rom which I remember has a down animation and you didn't even checked what's the difference about the files?
I'll give you a hint. It's something on the desc.txt
The code in the desc.txt for bootanimation is different from downanimation.
Check and download some down animations on xda and you'll notice where you made the mistake.

the only different i see
- a lower fps
- only one folder
- and
Code:
p 1 1
instead of
Code:
p 1 0
i changed th desk.txt
480 800 10
p 1 1 part0
and put all pictures into part with leading zero by *_1 to *_9
result:
reboot instead of shutdon

Did you even try to download a down animation? Downanimation usually say "android" on the desc.txt file.
via xda app

I downloaded about 10 downanimations and more than 50 bootanimations
and i read the syntax of the desc.txt, so that i know what the paramter means.
when you have looked in many bootanimations you will find out that a lot of them using part0/part1 and other ones using android too
thats only the foldername which includes the images
later on yesterdays evening i got the downaniomation working and the desc.txt looks like
Code:
480 800 7
p 1 1 part
that confirms that part or android are only the name of the folder

Bootanimation Q:

Ive searched the forums for, how to's on boot animation but there are loads of threads regarding already made boot animations and i couldn't find a tutorial.
Hi all helpfull i want to contruibute by making some, hopfully, awsome bootanimations for the sgs2 international version. some quick questions
i have found this tutorial (http://www.addictivetips.com/mobile/how-to-change-customize-create-android-boot-animation-guide) but i cant seem to find the mentioned bootanimation zip in /system/media
Q0: is this above mentioned guide still up to date and can i use it to learn me hw to make a boot animation for my sgs2.
Q1: wich app can i use to find it? Astro file manager or do i NEED the payed app root explorer.
Q2: i also had cm 7.1 rom on my sgs2 where i found a custumbootanimation zip in a backup folder. when i tried extrating that on my windows based laptop with winzip and also with 7-zip i could not extract it. i got a message saying it wasnt a archive.WHAT am I doing wrong?
Q3: if i finnally get a working boot animation will it work on other devices such as samsung nexus or even more important will it work on future ics ROM?
what i am working on : http://www.4shared.com/folder/R5t_VY7P/_online.html
Q0, it will work
Q1, just get root explorer already
Q2, no idea I have no problems opening the bootanimation files I come across, possibly this particular file is corrupted?
Q3, its all about the screen resolution, if you have a bootanimation it has a specific resolution, the phone you wanna load it on will require that resolution or greater. If greater then it just won't fill the screen.
you need to find a rom which supports a modded bootup animation..
otherwise there will only be a bootanimation.qmg..
you cannot edit that as it is somekind of proprietary video format..
You probably wont be able on stock ROMS.. unless stated in forum

I managed to make a really nice boot up animation incorporating SSF4 with the the fei long character. ( i know i should ask for permission first at capcom side so i cant upload it as of yet, but the animated version looks sweet.)
Q:thing is my pgn images are to large in file size. I took the custom rom CM 7.1 boot animation as a compare my work. those png have a file size of not even 2KB mine are roughly 80KB. i think i should be able to convert it with IrfranView to make it go from 24-bit to 8-bit , and hopefully lose loads of file size. But i can seem to get it to work. So what is the max size for .PNG images used for startup animations.
Thank you in advance

Will a boot sound work on aosp 4.4.4?

Does anyone know how I can turn on boot sound so I can play PowerOn.ogg on start up on a 4.4.4 aosp rom? I im running BrokenOS. Seems the 4.4.4 aosp roms do not have PowerOn.ogg in system/media/audio/ui. I tried it, added PowerOn.ogg to system/media/audio/ui and changed permissions to rw-r-r but it does not work. I've read that I need to enable the boot sound and it may be turned off. Where is this usually located?
I tested on a Galaxy S4 with 4.4.2 Touchwiz ROM and my sound file works on boot so its not the file.
Any help appreciated. Thanks!
Sent from my SPH-L900 using XDA Free mobile app
well, i have a simular problem. what i found out:
1. different phones/android versions might support only mp3, only ogg, only wav or nothing.
2. you have to edit your bootanimation.zip in /system/media! desc.txt needs to contain the sound file you want to use. best edit on pc.
this is what mine looks like
without sound:
Code:
1080 1920 15
p 1 0 part0
p 0 0 part1
with sound:
Code:
1080 1920 15
p 1 0 part0
s 1 /system/media/poweron.ogg
p 0 0 part1
s none
however i tried this with different formats and locations (wav/mp3, /system/media/audio/ui/ etc) but as soon as i add a sound line to the desc.txt, my phone just doesnt show the animation on boot any more o0 i guess its my phone not supporting boot sound
hope this helps you

Update: inserted manually on the directory, it works fine!...but probably it's the 3.0 version, and i looking for 2.1.
Update2: Fixed it!!
- Renamed all images from .png to .jpeg,
- Used the code content in the "desc.txt" of the bootanimation you linked
- Compressed all folders as a .zip. (in method of compression setted "store", or "memorizzazione" for those who have Italian version of win rar)
- Moved manually to the directory "system/media" using ES File Explorer
and wooooow
Thanks a lot levone for your support and pacience

Eden of the East Boot Animation [SAMSUNG PORT] [Requires Root]

Many of you know that to get ZIP animations working on our phone (SM-G360T1) that we have to go through hell. So instead of going through the hell, I've simply followed a guide and managed to port Eden of the East boot animation to 480x800. Remember this requires root guys!
[INSTRUCTIONS]
1. Download bootanimation.zip and extract files.
2. Move downloaded files to /system/media and overwrite existing files
3. Change permissions to RW ~ R ~ R
And that's it! Congratulations you now have the boot animation.
[ADDITIONAL INFORMATION]
I'd like to thank @bogarty for his awesome guide to make QMG boot animations. I'd also like to let people know at request at may or may not port your boot animation to samsung QMG. Even if it's the wrong screen resolution I can port it.
thanks for sharing this dud but a screenshort would be better if u share it

Question My Images are super low res

In the past I used Konabess Overclocking tool and tinkered with my SD870.
After uninstalling and reverting back to a backup image, I found that images on my manga reader were really low res. Digging through my phone, I found that my Xdpi and Ydpi were changed which incorrectly scales images on apps.
Any ideas on how to change those cause I got no lead
I think it can be done by editing the build.prop file. I did a quick google search and someone added the following lines in the file to change dpi:
ro.sf.lcd_density.xdpi=153
ro.sf.lcd_density.ydpi=153
Note that these are custom values which that person was using and not default ones.
Link to post:
(flashable zip released) Set device screen resolution via build.prop
If anyone is interested. I made a mod for cm11 that allows you to set the x and y DPI and set your device screen resolution via build.prop. I initially did this mod on the galaxy player. I can port it over to the tab 2 if anyone is interested...
forum.xda-developers.com
Thanks for the tip.
I didn't use this exact fix but I flashed the whole ROM again and that fixed it for me.
The flash didn't work the last time around but it did this time.
I guess I should stay clear of Konabess for now
