Sometime, if i Used OTG to Transfer data (data size around 5GB) From USB Flash to Phone , and correct remove the OTG cable
i cannot charge the phone after the OTG action. I need reboot the phone to solve the problem
This problem easy arise in 30% ~ 40% Battery Level , but not regular
I change 2 sets phone (note II) same as this problem.
i think this maybe firmware problem,
‧2 sets firmware version: ZSALJ2
‧OTG is not original cable, but I using in galaxy S2 is not problem.
‧USB flash is 16GB (Exfat format)
I have the same problem... exactly same...
Can anyone here please confirm if it's a firmware problem or hardware problem?
Thanks!

Can anyone out there try this and let us know whether it is firmware problem or it's both of our hardware problem?
Thanks a lot!
I think its due to the file size limit of 4GB (per one file) on Android devices, maybe it causes some trouble for the phone ?!

hello everyone, first of all few informations:
ROM: Runnymede AIO 2.5.1
hboot: cm7/r2
radio: 5.17.05.08
all works very fine for me, except plugging the phone to my pc...if i copy files to the storage over usb cable to the desire, its about 1-1,3 mb/s and stocks every 2seconds, so if i start to write something to the phone, the computer says for example 1,3mb/s, then the copy dialog stocks at this point and after few seconds it refreshes (windows 7 64bit)
but if i plug in the micro-sd via cardreader, i have min. 10mb/s writing speed and no "freezes"...
i dit try out other usb port, same thing here...card is a new samsung micro-sd 16gb class 6, before i had a sandisk 16gb class 2, thought it was the problem of the card, but now with ne new one its all the same, so i think its definitely a software problem, not hardware.
also i tried the "sd-booster" app and set the cache to 2048kb, but no improvement
anyone who knows that problem or has some ideas?
thanks in advance for solutions
That's probably kernel related.
so what kernel(s) could i try? atm ive got 2.6.35.8-snq-111118.
also, how do i flash new kernel? same as for example radio in fastboot?

I get the speed decrease too, I think it's normal, that's why I always take out the sd if I need to copy any larger files.
yeah sure but i think thats pretty annoying according to the fact that you have to turn off the desire for removing the sd card.
and i thought the usb transfer rate should be at least a BIT faster than 1mb/s with freezes...
you can use 4ext recovery and use the USB Mass Storage feature of it
i have a rate of 5-9MB/s
I have a stock jellybean 4.1.1 how I Am able to run USB ON the go on my HTC One X ??? any suggestions. is it ok to install custom kernels on a stock rom to run usb OTG ??

Follow up on USB Host
I too am using an HTC One X running 4.1.1
I've got an OTG cable and have tried connecting a thumb drive and card reader. Both work. The drives are visible and accessible on the phone. That's USB storage which isn't the same as USB Host, but it shows that the port is active.
I can plug in the dongle for a wifi mouse, it too is recognised and I'm able to use the mouse to navigate around on the phone. This, as far as I understand, is actually USB Host in action.
The problem arises when I try to connect a DSLR and use a camera controller app like Helicon Remote or DSLR Dashboard. The app doesn't recognise that the camera is connected.
What's the difference between the wifi mouse and the camera?
Thoughts appreciated. Thanks.
In fact, there is a problem that any USB storage device on the phone creates the following folder structure:
/ storage / usb / Android / data / com.htc.album / .thumbnails /
Then create multiple copies, can be found in the internal memory, same-path, including folders that contain thumbnails, but empty.
So because of these being used constantly sticks, so when the capture traces of the settings, then any writes to the phone to choose from, but it can not happen, but the capture button will be disabled, but only while again not I step into the menu.
The above mentioned directories erased because the phone reboot always create them again.
If the phone was not rebooted since I've used it and the flash drive has been physically removed it, then if I connect again, it appears no file until you restart the phone.

Got any solution for this??
Hello everybody,
I have the following problem appearing recently:
Whenever I connect a USB stick through OTG cable to my Galaxy Note II I always receive the message “USB Storage damaged. It may need reformatting” in the status bar, no matter which stick or other mass storage device I'm using. On my PC, the files are perfectly visible.
I didn't tamper nor change anything on my phone, it's been running the original Samsung ROM, rooted but otherwise unchanged, for the last six months.
Could any of you help? I explored several threads with reference to the same error message on other Android devices here and in other Android forums but none of them matched this problem.
Thanks in advance!

Hi,
Have you tried smaller sized USB sticks?
Because my 1 terabyte SeaGate hard drive works but turns off because it needs more power.

Yes, I tried with a 1GB and a 4GB sticks that worked quite well on OTG last week.
Both these sticks still work well on my PC.

It wasn't.
I did tick it but it doesn't change anything in the behaviour.
(BTW, thank you for taking the trouble to help me!)

No problem helping :highfive:
Well, I had no problems with USB OTG yet (except the 1 tb)
I suggest you factory reset or change the OTG cable.

Factory reset is a bit radical.
Does anyone else have an idea?
solution
Hi I had the same problem. I found the solution myself. Android doesn't support NTFS format actually. Format the USB with fat32. There u go. :good:
Use NTFS mounter app.....it needs root....
The problem is caused by kernel and USB drivers. Depends what kind of ROM is installed on your phone.
Some of the ROMs dont recognize big variety of card readers. Now I am using some cheap china phone,
so i had hard time to find the correct SD card reader.
Before, I was using Paranoid Android on Nexus 7, I didnt have problem with mounting any size of card, any kind of card reader.
Try different card readers , play around, you will fing the way.
:good:
I have the same problem but both the cable and drives work fine on my Verizon G3 but not on my T-Mobile G3 running 6.0.1 mm based Turbo ROM.
My S5 suddenly refused my Usb Otg drive for no reason. It was working fine. It also corrupts the drive so BE VERT CAREFUL before connecting any mass storage to Android. Why is that?
i have tried searching threads for this problem but i only got confused....i hope some good people can help me with my note 2 international version problem....the pc does not detect my device...it has been a recent problem....it used to be detected by the pc but now it cant be detected...i also have tried different pc and cables and same results...it cant be detected as a usb storage device...funny thing about it is it charges and works well with otg cable...i tried connecting a mouse and a keyboard and it works...also can read usb flash disks....the only problem is i cant acess its internal contents because it not shown on pc.... i suspect it has something to do with a software....anybody please help me out in here....iam also currently project aosp rom,,,,i used xnote rom but usb connection is not detected as well...i also tried reverting back to stock rom but still no luck being detected,,,iam planning to format the internal sd card and installing stock rom to see if it fixes the problem...if anyone out there willing to help please do so...much appreciated...thanks in advance.....

first uninstall kies and samsung driver ,reboot.
reinstall samsung driver it will try to update just cancel the update and it will install fine. do not install kies now plug in your usb to the pc and then to the phone.
if it detects good if not then the usb flex of the phone is the culprit take it to ss for a repair and be ready to make it all stock and status normal and yes despite the bad flex it does charge the phone gone through the same prob before
I used to have a galaxy s 2 it would not be detected on the pc..because while it was charging at one time it fell down the whole weight of the phone landed on the stub/pin of the charger...it continued to charged though... took it to Samsung repair store they just changed a small circuit board which had the charger and Mic...very simple and fast hardly 5 min...if all fails for you..try this option

Reboot your PC.
Hi. I just received the March 1st update. Since updating I have the problem where I connect phone to pc via usb type-c cable and it doesn't recognize my phone. I can't transfer files from my phone. Anybody else having this problem? I don't know if it's software or hardware related. I tried wiping cache, factory reset, using different cables.. Fast charging still works on the Samsung 45W charging brick.

Rule #1 if you have a fast, stable OS that is fulfilling its mission... let it be
You have a SD card slot, use it!
Use the SD card (Lexar v30 .5tb $75 works well) as a data drive. The OS and programs on the internal memory and all user data goes on the data drive. Everything you need to do a full restore should be on your data drive!
Fully backup the data drive at least 2 times on physically/electronically isolated hdds.
I also use a Sandisk.5tb flashstick that plugs into the C port for backup. Maybe your 10+ would connect like this.
Make sure notifications are enabled; you need to grant permission on the 10+ before it will fully connect. Check USB settings in Developer options as well. By default it should connect though...
Make sure no 3rd party antivirus apps are "protecting" you.
Check Windows Event Viewer for error messages. Use Disk Management to directly access the 10+'s drives. Check Hardware Management to work with the drivers.
Try another cable and/or port.
Reboot and try again.
