[Q] going back to stock - HTC One X

I realise that most guides only guide up till flashing a stock ruu and recovery. How do I flash a stock rom? Are the toolkits able to go back to stock? Not able to test myself as I am using a mac user.
Thanks

i think you only need to relock and the RUU to go back to stock. i dont know. anyone?

The same as you flash any ROM.
Flash the ROM and the boot.img.
If you're flashing RUU, you only need to lock bootloader (fastboot oem lock) and.run the RUU.
If you don't have the RUU:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot erase cache
In recovery, wipe caches and flash ROM
fastboot flash recovery signed-recovery.img
fastboot oem lock
I think that's right, but there probably 100 guides on here.

[Q] Reverting to Stock

Hello all,
So I'm attempting to revert to stock. Search has yielded some answers, but also posed some new questions for me.
I found this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1704021&highlight=stock
with this info:
Yes.. you can run the RUU on top of a custom rom, no need to nandroid restore your old stock backup. Most important is the stock recovery been flashed and bootloader re-locked before you run the RUU.
And I normally also flash a stock boot.img first. (some people say no need to do this, but it is no harm doing it).

So now my question is, how do I revert to a stock recovery? I know locking the bootloader is:
Code:
fastboot oem lock
but I still need a little more help getting my HOX back to stock. Any help will be appreciated greatly.

Hello. You have to flash stock revovery from cwm recovery thread, before you relock bootloader (command is then: fastboot flash recovery recovery.IMG (take name of stock recovery and put a .img on its end)
Good success

Find the recovery relevant to your version before you flashed custom Rom (mines 1.29.401.11) download it and put it in the same folder as your fastboot files. Go into fastboot USB and type fastboot flash recovery "name of stock recovery".img
You might have to "fastboot erase cache" if you get stuck on the HTC splash screen after rebooting
EDIT: putti71 beat me to it

If you flash an RUU it replaces the recovery with stock so you don't need to do that, just lock the bootloader and flash the RUU you downloaded before unlocking the phone in the first place

Download the stock recovery from the cwm recovery thread.
Flash it via fastboot:
Code:
Fastboot flash recovery filename.img
Then erase cache
Code:
Fastboot erase cache
Now relock bootloader:
Code:
Fastboot oem lock
Then locate the ruu for your country and provider and flash it.
thanks alot will do that now
you should relock the phone and use RUU, but not the OTA.

Back to stock with Nandroid

Hi,getting back to stock is not really my department. So just to make sure
1. Install nandroid backup of stock rom - done
2. That means that since my boot.img is stock as well as the rom itself is stock, that i only need recovery?
3. fastboot flash recovery recovery.img - i'm on 1.29.169.13 rom, can i use any 1.29 IMG? http://www.androidrevolution.nl/ARHD/index.php?dir=OneX/Recovery/ ?
4. I have to relock my phone, right?
fastboot oem lock
fastboot reboot-bootloader
fastboot erase cache
no need of any ruu, reboot, install OTA, done?
note that there is no RUU available for my phone except for the 1.26.169.13, which is 2 updates older than mine.
You will need to install the boot.img from your backup using fastboot.

[Q] Upgrade from Hboot 1.23 to Hboot 1.28

So, here is my question:
If I want to upgrade my Hboot, I need to flash stock (ICS) RUU first and then flash new firmware. I did this when I upgraded to 1.23. But now when I need to upgrade to 1.28 It says "relocked" and below "security warning". Only thing that helped me before was flashing stock RUU (ICS). But now I can not flash ICS RUU. Is there anything I can do except waiting stock JB stock RUU? Like, will it help if I flash stock recovery? Will it remove "security warnig" and boot into costum ROM?
I don't know how clear I explained my problem but I hope you get it
Thanks in advance!
First lock your bootloader , then In fastboot type fastboot oem rebootRUU, that will put you in ruu mode. Then flash the new firmware. Then fastboot reboot-bootloader, then unlock your bootloader again

there is a very detailed guide in the development thread, don't ask these things 1000 times... use search and flash the new firmware following the guide....

I have been searching all day but didn't find anything. I guess you didn't even read what I wrote. So please stop complaining, if there was somewhere the post that would help me, well, I couldn't find it. So get over it, that sometimes people post a new thread that has already been posted, this is a huge web site and sometimes it's not easy to find what exactly you need.
Thanks

thank you for your answer, and for not suing me for my post. I'll give it a try, I hope it will work
this is the guide man, it was in the first post.... you have to follow this guide to update your HBOOT, no need to flash a RUU....
this guide is taken from Shnizlon:
1. Download the ROM and place it on your virtual SD card.
2. Relock your bootloader via HTCDev.
3. Go into fastboot mode and type 'fastboot oem rebootRUU'.
4. Flash new firmware using this commend: 'fastboot flash zip PJ46IMG.zip' or using Y cable.
4a.On first time running the commend you will see FAILED, don't panic and just run the commend again.
5. Reunlock your bootloader via HTCDev.
6. Flash custom recovery using this commend: 'fastboot flash recovery recovery.img'.
7. Download boot.img and flash it using this commend: ‘fastboot flash boot boot.img’.
8. Use 'fastboot erase cache' to avoid boot issues.
9. Go into recovery and install the ROM.
10. Reboot your device and enjoy from JB!
lock bootloader

you have to relock it to flash the firmware package... you have to put the boot.img in your pc and flash it in the command prompt... no you can't flash JB without upgrading the firmware...if you do not understand or if you are not ale to do it then you aren't ready to this type of thing and you would better stay were you are

Actually you probably didn't flash the kernel from recovery but the modules ! It's impossible to flash a kernel from recovery because we are (most of us) still s-on
