Any idea why this happens? Every pic I take turns left. When I text them or open on pc, I always have to rotate them. It's annoying.
Anyone??
I had the same issue since camera did not rotate to the proper orientation. I calibrated it and now it's working fine. You might want to give it a try
How exactly do you do that?

I can't seem to get a handle on when or why WP7 err my Samsung Focus will take a picture and then choose to auto rotate it. Can anyone explain to me how to avoid it from doing that (not holding camera a certain way, software, etc)?
I am holding the camera in Landscape mode with the Shutter button on the top but it still decides to auo rotate some of my pics.
Thanks to anyone who can help me understand this feature.
This scenario is pretty funny to me as Windows Live Photo Gallery also tries to rotate the pictures, lol.
Anyone who can explain to me how or why, even if I am missing something basic like Settings, let me know.
As of right now, there is no option to turn off auto-rotation.
My understanding is that the phone will rotate the photo accordingly based on how you hold it the phone (as it should). I've had my photo rotated the wrong way a couple times, and I realized that it was because I was holding the phone a bit diagonally and not really either horizontally or vertically. I now try to make sure that I hold it definitively either horizontally or vertically, that's really the only way to do it until an option becomes available.

Bingo. I haven't had any issues with this, but I imagine if I were trying to get creative in how I held the camera, it would then become an issue. Either way, the photos I take either go to my computer or facebook, both of which it only requires a single button click to fix the rotation, if it were to ever be a problem.

I understand what you're going through because the same thing happened to me when I tried to take pictures to study for my exam. I also have a focus and was holding it the same way as you with the shutter buton on top. I finally realized that if you had anti-shake turned on for some reason, it will change the orientation of the picture by itself. If you turn on anti-shake turned on, try turning it off. It worked for me.
So when I send pic via text or upload to facebook etc.. somtimes the landscape pics send upside down!! and sometimes the portrait pics send in landscape... Am I crazy? Anyone else have this?
i been having same issue and been wondering why, all i could figure was our pics in portrait mode are bigger than most others and forced to landscape, not sure.

Mine comes out upside down if I hold the phone with the shutter button on the left
Mine appears sideways when i take portrait pictures when sharing them..... Annoying!

Don't mean to bump up an old thread.. But did anyone ever fix this or figure why this happens when I share pictures on many applications? If I take a picture in Portrait mode, it shows them in landscape. If i take them in Landscape though they show correctly. Also yes I have auto rotation turned on so the camera applications adjust.
Hey Guys I'm having an issue with the Google Camera app on the Samsung S4 Mini. I can take pictures and videos fine however the issue arises when i want to take multiple pictures on the same focal point.
So if i touch the screen on the focus point, let the app find the correct exposure, take the picture then touch the screen again take a picture etc. it works fine and can keep doing that. The problem arises however when i want to take another picture without touching the screen in between taking shots. If i touch the screen, take a shot (the first picture is fine) and then try to take another shot without refocusing nothing happens. The focus circle will not respond to further attempts to refocus and the button to take pictures doesn't do anything.
Is there anything i should be doing? Any direction would be awesome.
Cheers.
When taking a photo on my phone the camera turns as if I have turned my phone to the side to take photo when I want to take a photo right way up.. Anyone else come across this? Have I selected something in settings?
Nice one..
So I have a very annoying issue and wondering if anyone else does. I have auto rotate on. If I am on a phone call and hang up it screws p the auto rotate feature and everything is sideways. Only way to fix is turn auto rotate off/on again.
Anyone else have this issue? I did update to the November OTA and still is there. About to factory reset unless someone else found a trick to fix it.

i have an auto rotate issue where if i use the phone in landscape mode for too long (1-2 minutes), the screen "snap" back to portrait and back to landscape. watching videos in landscape is annoying. recording in landscape will cause the video to stop recording when the snap occurs.
i use a third party app called "set orientation" to force it to landscape when i need to, and that solved my issue.
try this app and see if it works for you (it's free)
I have this issue on both on my pixel 2 xls
That's strange, I actually had an issue where I couldn't turn auto rotate off. Well, I could turn it off, but locking and unlocking the phone would turn it back on. Every single time. Until I installed the November OTA. Seems all better now.
My auto rotate shuts off by itself, have to switch back on frequently
