[Q] App2SD Kernel for stock note 2 - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Does any developer know of a way to substitute the stock kernel in a note 2 with one that allows the app2sd init,d script.
my note 2 is rooted and has CWM but other than that no other changes. i am a very heavy user of apps due to the field that i work in, and 16gb internal mem is not good enough, i have a 64gb class 10 sd card fully working, but very underused.
as per the below threads

I would like the answer for this one too.
So, anyone knows how to implement the init.d on rooted stock kernel/rom with CWM recovery?

My experience and advice of read ahead speeds is leave it be, stock android is 128 so 1024 which is what cm7 gives is by far enough. Increasing too high can and will most likely lead to sd card errors!! Thats all im gonna say as ive said it before. Regards with sugar lol, slym.

[Q] Files larger then 4GB

I am currently running "ICS-"FLEX-A100-REAPER-RELIX_Rev2" with a 32GB FAT card. What is the best procedure to set this up to support files over 4GB? Can I convert to extFAT, ext3, ext4 without any issues? I have the current version of TWRP installed.

Depends on the kernel supporting it or not. Ex fat is generally the more compatible for android between those 2 though.

exfat is full supported in twrp just not in android except via some oem app for paragon so i can't use the exfat in android at all. Maybe ill test ntfs and see if it's supported in twrp but from what u guys said it isn't but that would fix my issue since i need it to work in android/ windows/ and twrp...
Again depends on the kernel supporting it or not. If the kernel has support for exfat then android does and vice versa. Same with recoveries. I think the godmachine kernel may support it already.

I'm on the Galaxy Note 2 so im not sure but paragon says it only give exfat support to oem user so i don't know how to get that app but otherwise recovery for twrp supports exfat... ill test ntfs in twrp and see since im on CM10 Jellybeer at the moment which i like a lot more than stock modded roms.

yeah i tested it on my sgh-i317 note 2 and exfat works in twrp just haven't tested ntfs since android doesn't work with exfat at all

Exfat works fine in android, my thrive roms and kernels support it. As I said, its about being supported, not being on android. Twrp is built against android source as well.

You could try renaming ex fat to fat32 it worked on old GPS units to go higher than the 32 gig cap or do a command line format on windows to force it. I don't know if it would work but worth a try.

But fat32 has the 4gb size limit, the point to this thread was a filesystem without that limit. Or did I miss the trick there?

I guess that those are not what he wants.
The gio has got no internal SD card. He wants to make his /data partition bigger. Your apps will not work for that!
They are for the internal SD card.
There is a difference between /data and the internal SD card.

Don't worry.
We have got really old phones. If you do not know them, it is not that bad. Just know your phone.
Yeah, I guess that Link2SD is better because you need a particular firmware for your solution.

[Q] Partitioning WFS 2012

hello all yesterday i installed a custom jellyking CM 10 ROM for the very first time in WFS 2012 Thank you XDA developers..:good:keep up the awesome work.
the main reason to install custom ROM was to increase my internal memory. i was wondering how can i do that now, i read different tutorials and i am kind of confused now, using INT2EXT+ or there was another tutorial using Link2Sd can anyone please guide me regarding that, and also should i partition SD card in CWM recovery or by mini tool partition wizard. i am having 2GB of card what size shall be suitable. Thank You
You can partition SD card by using CWM and choose the size which you think is sutable for you(512 MB should be good for you)..After Partitioning SD card install ROM,int2ext+ and then GAPPS..

with int2ext+ you can actually use up to 950MB
It's 750 MB because 100 MB for every 500 MB data..But as I said it's his choice

right, sorry. I just got confused, because I was lazy and used 1GB and my phone now shows 950MB.
okay thank you, i successfully did that but i was wondering if there is a stable ROM for WFS 2012 Ed. currently using this Jelly King 2.0 based on CM10 by kantry123b, but its having some bugs like video quality is annoying besides MX player isn't compatible with it as its not playing any videos, and these hardware buttons at the bottom of screen won't light up.
Sorry...Buy a bigger sdcard

[Q] Carbon Rom vs Vanir

Hi guys.
In terms of battery life what is the best rom in the newest build?
Are you just wanting to know about CM builds? Because I've tried all and liked most of them, but as far as battery life, none come close to stock, Which is why I'm running this stock based custom Rom..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2462453
As far as CM builds I had the best battery life on carbon.... Still no where's close to the aforementioned Stock based Rom...
Just my humble opinion....

I've been using a 64gb card in every phone I've owned and it work perfectly on carbon. If you don't wanna go through the hassle of enabling exfat support, then use a PC program to format the 64gb card to fat32.
Did not see any

I have my 64gb card formatted in fat32. Natively, Windows and Android can't format anything higher than 32gb to fat32 but a program like this: http://tokiwa.qee.jp/EN/Fat32Formatter will do it. Only downside is that you can't have a single file over 4gb on the card. But really, who is going to have 1 file over 4gb on their phone? This will also allow your 64gb card to work on ALL ROMs without having to do anything lol.
