Hey, Ever since I got my Xperia arc it's had this problem, Basically whenever i try sending messages ( I usually get it at night ) they wont send, Like the person i sent it too doesn't receive the message and I don't get a little tick on the end of the text, I don't know if its a common problem but it's just annoying really because at around 10 o clock my messages wont send What's wrong with my phoneee
Well if it's happening at a specific time then, it's either your network or operator
It's definitely up to network.
On my network for example, if you're pre-paid user and your credit goes below certain amount (about 0.50 euros), and data transfer is enabled in settings, you can't send SMS messages. It's like network is reserving some credit for data usage, or whatever.
I must disable data transfer every time my credit reaches "critical" point, to be able to spend it all.

Are your APNs setup properly/fully ? (these setup the protocols for services from the phone to the operator)
Google - APN , Xperia Arc (and your operators name)
or find your operators website and find them on there and they can send texts to set APNs up
Of the two above - I would guess that your phones APNs arent setup , dont know your operator/country , so I cant take a search much further .
As a small test - get a friend to text you a picture , if your phone tells you that it is unable to download , then I`d say 100% its your APNs .

Is there a program that let you send the same text Automatically Daily to a person without you actually having to type it.
i had searched for software like that but to no avail.... but my phone does that automatically, and the only way i will be able to fix it is to flash [sic]me[sic] phone.... "my phone sends the SAME text message to my girlfriend all the time... after some troubleshooting, figured out it only does this when I open Text or E-mail (tmail.exe) - the signal quickly changes from Ev to 1x almost instantly after opening tmail.exe... currently I just leave it running in the BG, (not much time to flash) there have been days where she will get the same "Ill call you in a bit" message 8 or more times... There is also an issue where I will soft reset the phone and sometimes it will send a random text to someone I had texted earlier that day or even the day before." it is a wierd issue... ba-a-ad software issue. wonder how many people have experienced that

That's what I want I want a software that can send the same text automatically to one person once a day everyday.
Auto TXT
You might want to look into PowerSMS.

It might be something you can work with.

you could just hard reset your phone...
or take it to your carrier and tell them what is happening
There is a program that is a powerful text message program
There are these two guys that specialize in text message software. They have software called Auto Text Sender that can be found at www.autotextsender.com
They also have this software called Auto Text Mailer that can be found at www.autotextmailer.com

I've had the same problem, with people getting random texts from me. I don't have T-Mobile though..
Hey guys,
Picked up a desire yesterday and its great, though I'm having some issues with sms. I notice I don't receive any texts until I send a text first, then I'll receive 2 or 3 texts, timestamped in the past, up to an hour ago!
Any ideas anyone?
Thanks.
edit: unrooted on o2
i get a similar problem, i know i should have received a text message but it doeant show up for hours.
unrooted on tmobile uk
Most likely when your phone is connected over GPRS the text don't come through till you disconnect, used to happen on my N95.
So if my phone is operating in GPRS mode, until it decides it doesn't need the internet anymore and disconnects, it won't retrieve texts... right. So any workarounds or fixes for this?
Prety much, after I use GPRS I just made a call and during or after the call my text came in.
Been getting this all day, are people really just dealing with this or is it only a few people that have this issue?
I am having another problem... on T-mobile, my phone won't download MMS messages. It will just say Download error, General Network Failure... After it expired (3days) , I was sent a link to the T-mobile website, where I am able to see it for 14 days.
Another problem that I am having, the phone is struggling sending long text messages... 4 or 5 normal lenght messages 500-600 characters... I am using the Text App provided with the phone.
I have a problem that I dont think is an actual problem I think its just how the phone works, and tbh its a bit rubbish.
If you dont have signal when you hit send (im my office at work I only get signal on a little square of the desk) the phone says "message not sent". Sometime when it gets signal it will send the message, but if it doesnt get signal quick enough it seems to just give up sending.... a bit lame really....
I'm going to post a message up with the T-mobile UK MMS settings so people in future can find it on search. Have a look in 5 mins.
JAmes.
I've got the same issue with my HTC Desire.
My operator is a Belgium one, namely Mobistar.
I've got the impression that when i open the sms box, i start seeing the messages. Don't know if it's the communication that goes wrong, or the 'throughput' in the phone (screen, alerting...).
After installing (and using of course) chompSMS, this problem is gone... yipppie...
I just purchased my HTC Desire yesterday (and it is LOVELY)!
But for some reason the datestamp for INCOMING sms texts are all wrong. it is like 4 hours behind, but the outgoing timestamp is correct.
is there a way to check the settings? I don't know why it's like that. I dont know what time people texted me.
Thanks for all the help
Ensure to set date and time correctly, from Menu options
That defines your phone internal clock, regardless what you want to see in the clock widget..
To simplify thing, better to opt for "current" in the location options
from my Desire + XDA App
what do you mean? I set the date and time correctly. And when I go into location it only shows
use wireless networks and use gps satellites
(i dont have a data plan)
the desire dosent timestamp a sms when it receves it, instead it uses the one given by the sms message centre that sends it to you .....
so you mean my provider? because the received sms time is correct on my previous phones..
What he means is, it'll use the time from the phone that sent it to you I believe.
I SMS internationally; and it's quite annoying because it will move their message up in between mine and thread mine. He's in Canada, I'm Australia so he's behind so I have to go searching up through my messages to find it.
eg:
his reply goes here:
me 3pm: message

No what i mean is, when someone sends you a sms, it goes from there phone to a sms message centre, and then gets sent to your phone, the desire uses the timestamp given to the sms at the message centre so there nothing wrong with your phone, it even happens to me for some reason, if i reply to a sms straight away it appears above the one i just receved
happens to me as well. i just use "sms time fix" from the market, and ive enabled all the options in there cause it wasnt working on just by setting the hours in advanced. now my msg times are good, but it now uses my phones time. atleast it shows the proper time now.
thats weird.. i know what you mean sorta, but i get texts locally. so shouldnt it be the same time? and yea, it moves above mine as well! it's four hours behind (even though it was sent after me)
is there a way to change the sms message center time or anything like that (i doubt that lol) because my friends who text me are local too
I have certain friends that use either ATT or Tmobile, and sometimes when they text, they go off and send maybe 4-6 texts one right after the other. If I try to text back as I'm receiving texts I get an error message, I think it says Error message 34. I also notice that if I try to send multiple texts like that, the little loading icon comes up and they slowly get sent off one by one. I had the same problem with my HTC EVO 3D on Sprint and even my Palm Pre, they're all so painfully slow when it comes to texting.
My only remedy around this has been to use Google Voice and text using data with my other number, but I don't really give it out to anyone so it wouldn't make sense to do that, plus it can't receive picture mail.
Is this just a flaw of Sprint? I'm using the oem texting app. If you want to replicate this issue, you could use google voice on your computer to try to send multiple texts to your phone and try to text back with your phone as you're receiving them. Your text will either hang there for a while and eventually send maybe 30-40 seconds later, or it will just error out and you have to manually resend it.
edit: just realized that this thread may be in the wrong section.. I don't see a delete option unfortunately :\
Yes it is in the wrong section. It should be in Q / A . Ask a Mod to please move it. As for your issue I would lean toward it being a Network issue. Reason being, I've run into it before. Check online, or call Sprint. Ask them if they are doing any work in your area. You can also try Updating PRL /Profile. If that still does not resolve it you can try ##72786# . That will reset your Data. Make sure you leave it alone, and let it finish.
Moved to Q&A
I have a problem as I can't send or receive MMS anymore. Yes, I used to be able to but as I don't use MMS very often I don't know when this problem started precisely.
So this is how it manifests : it's only for MMS because SMS are fine.
The APN configuration is fine, I even checked with my phone operator. They also sent me a brand new Sim card but it didn't change a thing.
I can surf on internet and use all the 3G applications without problem ; I go to the playstore, use the browser, etc...When I do that, the "3G" logo at the top right of my screen is on, which is also normal.
Which is not normal is that when I prepare a MMS, as soon as I want to send it (I press the send button) to a contact, the 3G icon keeps appearing and disappearing, on and off for a minute approximately, as it was trying to connect but couldn't do it. The MMS never leaves the HTC.
To check if it was a rom problem I went from Omega 2.4.0 to 2.5.0 no fix, and I don't think it's a rom problem otherwise people would have reported it.
If you have any idea guys, I would really appreciate. I spent a lot of hours to fix that but didn't find a solution
