Now that a newer version of TWRP is out, and I've read that there's been problems with it, how would I go about flashing version 2.2.2.0? Thank you for your time and answers.
Also, any way of doing it without ADB. I'm pretty unclear of how to use it.
Here's the file:
http://d-h.st/i4T
To install:
Rename to recovery.img and put on root of internal sdcard.
Open Terminal Emulator and enter su
$ should change to #
No enter or copy/paste this:
dd if=/mnt/sdcard/recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p18
Now reboot recovery to verify.
I've got a flashable zip and a .tar for odin, ill upload those in a bit if you prefer.
If anyone would double check my dd command before op uses it that'd be helpful. Going by memory so don't want to make a mistake.

I'm on TWRP 2.3.1, I have no issues with it. Since the update I have flashed hellfire rom, frostyicsV3, wildchild roms, liquid smooth and I can confirm everything works great.

Can I move the backup folder to my external instead (keeping my backups) and use that instead of the phone memory from now in? Right now there is three gigs of backups on many internal memory and I don't like that.
I love this thing!

i would rename it to like recovery.img and push/move it to like /sdcard/ (not sure if you need it to be on your external_sd... if so, then /sdcard/external_sd/)
the terminal emulator

# "flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery.img" ( or if in external_sd.... /sdcard/external_sd/recovery.img)
# "reboot recovery"
should reboot into recovery and it should have the new recovery

It's totally different recovery you can either flash it for free manually or buy the app which does it for you. Developers make money for work and time spent premium is still premium. You honestly don't need it unless you want to use it. He also gives out codes for free every once in awhile.

Didn't work for me.
Its not working too well for me. I am going to reflash it. It seems to not be able to mount the sd card a lot. Creating a backup failed once it started backing up /data.
After flashing it again its still not working. Backup has failed every time and its having trouble mounting the sd card and keeping it mounted. I bought it through rom manager so hopefully it gets fixed soon.

Just tried, looks very good on P930, however, it seems to NOT WORK properly.
I flashed this CWM using the command posted by Swetnes (post #6).
After which, I then tried flashing the latest CM10 nightly using it, flashed failed with build.prop error. (MD5 of my nightly download checks out.)
Tried the 25th nightly, same error.
Rebooted, re-flashed CWM 5.8.2.0 using ROM Manager, then attempted to flash the lastest nightly again (same file on the SD, I did not re-copy or re-download), succeeded the first try.
Anyone on 6.0.1.2 encountered the same errors as above?

So I just found out you could do this today, but if you go to builder.clockworkmod.com, you can tell it to build a CWM image for a bunch of devices. I went ahead and had it build 6.0.1.3 for our P930. It could be fun playing with the update.zip exporting feature in this CWM. At the same time, the barrier for entry just got lowered substantially for rom "developers".
Note: I have not tested any of the functions of this CWM, so don't blame me if it jacks your phone up. I didn't even build it myself, Jenkins did
Edit, I tried to do the same for the SU640, but no joy there. The build failed.
Edit #2, Okay, so this autobuilt CWM won't flash roms for me. It is hamstrung on the asserts for ro.product.device and ro.build.product. Ah well, it was worth a shot
Edit #3, You really don't wanna use this, it will screw things up for you.
thank u~

Hi guys,
I have CWM 5.5 on my S3 i747, and I just wonder where can I find the latest version of CWM for i747, and also how do I upgrade it using ODIN ?
As I understand, it should be a file named "recovery.img", and to flash it on my S3, I have to tar it and flash the tar file using ODIN. Is that right?
Thanks!
Download rom manager and get from there, I personally couldn't stand the latest cwm recovery its slow as hell took way too long to make a backup
Galaxy SIII via XDA premium
Download your version of cwm there
http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager
Place it at the root of your sdcard and rename it recovery.IMG
Download terminal emulator from the play store. Run the terminal
type: su (press enter)
Then type: dd if=/sdcard/recovery.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p18 (press enter)
Type everything right. If you get the last number wrong, you get a brick.

They most likely will and even if they don't you could always flash a previous version of cwm( the one you made the backup with). No need for angry faces lol. You should search and get the lowdown of the consequences of everything you flash before you flash.

There's a new version of CWM for our phones, it's 6.0.2.3. I just flashed it and it seems that they removed the option to 'wipe battery stats' in cwm.
I was looking for this for a long time and finally found it embeded in a thread here at XDA and thought it would be helpful to have a clean thread.
1) Download correct Clockworkmod (touch or regular as you wish) for your device from http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager
2) Place it at the root of your sdcard and rename it recovery.IMG
3) Download and install terminal emulator from the play store : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jackpal.androidterm&hl=en

Odin?
Wouldn't it be easier and safer to use the Odin program to load Clockworkmod? Less chance of bricking the phone?
The easiest way I've found is to root the phone via Odin, either with Chainfire's autoroot or Mr. Robinson's root 66. The results are pretty much the same but Chainfire's method won't wipe your phone.
After that install ROM manager from the play store and use that to flash CWM, or install Goo Manager from the play store and use that to flash TWRP.
Good write up and I'm not knocking you, but for noobs its better to use odin. Its a ton safer.
EDIT: I meant Odin, not fastboot. I work with a lot of devices and I forgot about it being a Samsung device. Oops.

the problem with using odin is that odin only lets you flash .tar files.... cwm for the att s3 comes as an .img and therefore odin doesn't want to flash it.
i found the easiest way is to root (follow steps in this thread), install MOBILE odin pro (tpb?), and flash the recovery.img through mobile odin pro.

As many have said already. It is much safer and highly recommended to use ODIN to flash CMW or any recovery for that matter.
Just like the title says, I had 2.5.0.0 TWRP and just upgraded to 2.6.3.0 today. Both versions did the same thing, I have existing .zip files that show up but if I put any new .zip file anywhere on the sdcard partition even on the root it will not show up in TWRP. However, it shows up in three different file managers. I know the files are there but TWRP is not showing them.
Any light that could be shed would be great, Thanks guys.
