Hmm not experiencing that. Its just as responsive when I'm not holding it.

Maybe when you are holding your phone or putting it down, different parts of your fingers are touching the screen, and the sensor responds differently to them.

Don't know but I can for sure feel the difference... sometimes I need to press 4 or 5 times before the phone recognizes the input

Bottom right icon on the dock is really hard to access this way.. really frustrating

Same here except mines doesn't matter how it's being held. I also have to apply force on the bottom section of my screen all the Damn time to apply a touch.

Do you guys have screen protectors applied? There was one brand in particular where the screen protector would cause the screen to become quite unresponsive especially at the bottom of the screen. If that's the case you might want to change screen protectors or just go commando.

+1 for the commando part. I've been using my nexus the last 6 months bare naked, and I love it

I have had my gnex since release day with no screen protector and not a single scratch to this day. As long as you are somewhat careful as to how you handle your phone you will be fine. To me the screen protectors on the galaxy nexus seem awful and huge finger print magnets from the pics I have seen, and that would drive me nuts.

The nexus one had an issue with this and it had to do with grounding when the device was held which would allow the touchscreen to work well. As soon as your not holding it touch response goes to s***

I don't think a phone with an all-plastic body like a Galaxy Nexus would have a problem with grounding?

When the screen protector was off, did you try using the phone and see if the sensitivity improved? If it didn't at least you could rule out that the screen protector is the problem.

I've known a few good people with this problem, but most of them have hands that become moist easily. Perhaps this is causing it, no?

I have the same problem. When I put it on the holder at my work and start watching YouTube my back button I have to press 100 times it losses sensitivity

I don't get that at all. I have ****e reception here, so when I text and stuff I put my phone down on the speaker by the window. It always seems to work just fine with me pecking away.

now i'm starting to have issue were screen is totally unresponsive and battery pull is the solution
this is not normal

Scratch on screen easy fix?

Hello!
I have a light scratch on my new Nexus. I searched for some "easy" home made solutions but nothing. The scratch is really not bad barely noticeable but it is bothering the crap out of me. Now I looked on eBay to see if the screen can be replaced. I found two items that can help. One is the LCD Digitizer (sp?) and the other is the outer screen. I am confused which one to use.
Help.
Thanks
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
You have to replace the entire screen on the GNex unless you are EXTREMELY good and then you could just replace the digitizer. The whole panel is around $200. I would just put a screen protector on the phone and call it a day.
Thanks. I knew it couldnt be that simple.

Screen protectors and burn in issue

I use a screen protector on my galaxy nexus and have recently noticed that the app drawer icons still show for about the second after I've moved on. Could it be the screen protector?
If it isn't, how do I go about performing a degauss? I remember CRT had them.

Your brightness is too high. Turn on auto brightness and let the phone determine how high to set the screens brightness.

How much time do you spend un ultra bright conditions?

I'm mostly indoors; in the car or at work or at home and it's never very bright anywhere.
If I have to make an estimation of very bright screen usage, I'd say about five minutes a day.
Burn-in had to do with heat. Applying the screen protector does hold in more heat than it should. That got me thinking...

Hmm i too have experienced this .. im positive its not because of the screen protector
Any solution to the problem?

Installed it straight out of the box... turned it on minutes after installing it. I would give it at least an 8.

I've only had the device about a week... And no, it's not noticeably thick. You can tell it's there, but it's very smooth; I personally almost prefer using my screen with this rather than with just the bare glass.
I have the invisi-shield extreme and I like it... it's not really thick or anything and it's like a insurance in protecting your phone... the only thing I had a problem with is... there is this spot on the phone that arches over the home button and there is a small space between the button and the shield.... well it just so happened I was getting out the car heading in to work was getting all my stuff together and I dropped my keys which had a small lock on it for my backpack... and it hit perfectly on that spot and shattered my screen from that point and cracking lines went up the screen... I was irritated at first.... but got my replacement with my insurance policy and got my extreme shield transferred over to that one... but other than that little weak spot it's a really good protector and doesn't affect the screen touch at all... hope this helps your decision

Screen scratches easily?

I just got my Nexus 7 (2013) a few days ago and there is a thin scratch in the middle of the screen. The thing is, I don't even know how it got there. Its not connecting to the bezel or the end of the glass, so I don't think its a scratch. Should I bring it back? Or will they just say its my fault? Anyone else notice their screen scratching easily?

I thought I saw fine scratches on mine already, but i cleaned it really well and now its flawless again. I'd take it back and not say anything about the screen. just say its been randomly rebooting and you want to exchange for another one.

I noticed a very fine scratch on mine also. I had been putting it screen face down when I place it down somewhere to protect the screen, should something fall on it. I don't know how it got the scratch but it is annoying. I now put it screen up when I put it down somewhere though.
The silicone adhesive on the 'hard' screen protectors will fill it in for the most part.
