ROM Toolbox Pro - Sprint Samsung Galaxy S III

I have had rom toolbox pro for awhile and with my evo 3d it never worked to change status bar icons (battery etc). I was hoping today that it would work on the s3 but still no luck. Am I possibly doing something wrong or is that a known issue? And if it is a known issue what the heck does that feature of the app work on???

I've emailed the dev a few months ago on this and he said he'd look into it. I think he gave me the run-around.

Damn. That sucks. I was pretty pumped when I remembered I had bought the app and maybe I could finally use it. Thanks anyway dude.

Yeah I tried that. I guess it could work on stock roms but I'm using the Phantom rom where he customized the battery.

Problem is, a lot of ROM toolbox replaces images based on names. There's a lot of redundant images in the touch wiz framework (they add their own images and keep the aosp ones.). This means that ROM toolbox will replace the aosp, which arent the ones in use, so it makes ROM toolbox obsolete. Also, for the battery images, ROM toolbox has 100 different images for the battery packs, it's that it doesn't have 100 images for the charging also, so you'll see your battery icon change shape while you charge.

What do yu have to have for it to work? Only ICS? I thought I saw a complete theme that had it for GB, but I could have been mistaken... oh well, TW doesn't hurt my feelings at all.

I am in the exact same boat, down to the ROM and everything. I love everything about CleanGB except I'd like to have more lockscreen functions (especially camera!).
Widgetlocker is great because you can customize it down to the last inch, but I didn't like the idle resource and battery drain. Same with the Magic Locker ICS theme (which is great because it has calls and SMS notification counts built in, and it's free). But both are simply apps that float on top.
Until there's an ICS style lock that I can zip into, I guess I'll go back to the stock touchwiz. Thanks Kenny.

Widgetlocker uses 5-6mb of ram and does not affect performance or battery. That's less ram than swype and just barely more than vvm.

May have to try out the widgetlocker, but would rather have a straightup lockscreen. I don't understand why it couldn't be ported over, though.

Aha. I found out why it seemed to be draining the battery faster. I've been using juice defender to cut 3G when the screen is off. The problem is that JD won't recognize these apps as a true screenlock, so it doesn't turn off 3G.
I recently bought tasker so I'll try learning how to use that for controlling connectivity instead.

I hear tasker> jd. In fact I hear all around jd is junk. Even used it myself once and it definitely did nothing to help.

Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
I'm happy with my setup your happy with yours. It's all good.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
Well, JD worked well enough for me to notice a drastic difference in my battery idle. With the JD inactivated and 3G hooked up, I would drain 4-5% per hour at idle. Cutting idle 3G made for a much nicer 1% per hour.
Tasker is much more controllable. Now I have it set up so that only apps that require data turn on 3G when activated. This is great because JD only toggled connectivity with the screen status. Now I can use the camera, text, or play games without 3G turning on at all. There is a 2 second lag for switching on 3G that I usually have to refresh for, but the kill speed after exiting is instantaneous. Great program.
Don't mean to hijack, I know this is moving away from the OP's (and my) question. Let's hear it for a baked-in ICS lock coming soon!

Circle Battery mod on Nexus 7?

Anyone got the circle battery mod working on the Nexus 7 yet? I'm miss knowing my battery % at all times.
Thanks!

Have you tried this widget app?
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.hubalek.android.reborn.beta
No need to flash mods and face the associated risks etc, it just runs and displays the battery percentage in your notification bar at the top.
An additional nice touch is that you get a notification in the drop down with also allows you to use the JB notification drag feature to show a battery usage graph.

Simi widget does the job nicely IMO.
I use Power Controls from the market and you can have its notification icon show as a circle battery. This doesn't replace the standard icon, though.

We should email JRummy, maybe he can fix the code so it doesn't bugger it all up, would be really nice to have the circular icon with individual percentage numbers up there.

Got a replay from JRummy, he says I'm stupid (okay, he didn't say that, he didn't even say anything even remotely close to derogatory) but basically explained that to use the modding function in his ROM Toolbox (for the battery icons) we should have a deodexed ROM.
I had to go look that up cause I don't know anything about odexing/deodexing.
This guy seems to have made a deodexed version of JB 4.1.1 for our Nexus, pre-rooted and whatnot. I'm considering flashing that and then trying the ROM Toolbox thingy but I'm feeling super lazy at the moment so if someone beats me to it... please post your results.
Deodexed 4.1.1: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1802125
Oh and if you want to deodex your own Nexus 7, I'm assuming this guide will work? But seriously I just got off a 12 hour overnight shift and didn't read the thread completely so if you break your Nexus by trying this, don't blame me: http://www.droidxforums.com/forum/droid-x-themes/4620-how-manually-deodex-your-phone.html

Funny thing, you did exactly what I did, even down to the 2:00am in the morning part. Normally I always backup my stuff but I thought "eh it's just a battery mod." Plus, I had backed up my systemui & framework-res using ROM Toolbox, not realizing that you need a damned menu button to restore them (obviously if you bork your systemui, there goes your menu button). I fixed it by flashing that deodexed ROM you guys are talking about.
I was running a deodexed stock rom, so I thought I would give it a try flashing a mod with rom toolbox.
I made a Cwm backup of my rom, backed up my system ui and framework apk.
Installed the mod, and system ui crashed.
Now I thought I would be able to restore my Cwm backup.
But then it turns out that my Cwm backup was corrupted, so I then had to reinstall the stock rom.
But I did not have any tb backups to restore my apps, so then I had to reinstall all my apps too.
So I am fully pissed off.
Has anyone got a circle battery mod working on the n7 with rom toolbox?
Cheers Corey

[ROM][I747MVLALH1][ICS][12.10.17] PURE MINIMAL - Stock Odexed, Stripped Down

I made this rom mostly for myself using dixda's Android Kitchen and I just needed something for my basic phone use (Phone, Messaging, Gmail, Calc, Calendar, Camera, Clock, Contacts, Gallery, Internet, Maps, Music, Files, Play Store, Video Player, Youtube). Everything else has been deleted.
I usually prefer AOSP based roms but I find stock odexed roms much smoother. Additionally, stock roms have better mic quality, audio quality, camera features.
I used the Canadian Bell base (I747MVLALH1) because I find it has much less bloatware by default than the AT&T one (no wi-fi notification, AT&T only contacts, etc).
12.10.X - Upcoming
add MOD to remove sms messages in call log
add MOD recovery option to reboot menu
add MOD volume up to skip song
12.10.17 - Initial Version
system/apps stripped down

I have noticed that search is gone. I cannot find google quick search widget and when I press search from menu, nothing happens. Is there any way to get that back?
It's gone because Apple sued Samsung about it right after the device went on sale (SUPRISE!! Apple has a BS patent for that too!) ... so when Samsung brought the LH1 firmware update to market it was stripped out - you could hack that feature back in or try a different rom with it included.
I thought Samsung only took out the universal search feature. I believe the search bar widget was still there after I updated mine. I'll try to find some CWM or apk that I can install to get it back.

Opinions on 4.2

Does anyone truly like it? I find the extra page for toggles to be an annoyance to get to, and requires extra time. It just looks nice. The lock-screen also defeats all purpose of having a lock screen, and removes useful shortcuts (I know these can be added in through some cm or aokp builds but still). I didn't think it was possible for a new android version to really take a step back in terms of functionality but 4.2 really did. Scrolling isn't nearly as good as it was in 4.1 as well. But this is all my opinion, I'm interested to hear what you guys think. I'm looking to drop back to 4.1, and I'm hoping key lime pie gets rid of lock-screen widgets
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
Yes I like it. And a few milliseconds don't hurt. I don't think android took steps back, it took 3+ steps ahead.

I like it.. Looks pretty good.
Although, I do agree somewhat with the lockscreen. When I had messages as one of the pages on the lockscreen, I wish I could just text them from there. But instead, you press it and it goes to the messaging app instead.
Agreed. With lockscreen and toggles. If I remember correctly though, pure AOSP that ships on nexus devices prior to 4.2 didn't have toggles. That's a luxury that was only afforded to root users. So really it was a step forward.
In my opinion though, they should have implemented CM's toggles and called it good.

[Q] Help first time changing rom!

I changed my Rom to CM10, and the camera on it takes low quality pictures, and the video is even worse. How do I fix this? Could I get the stock camera back? I also preferred the stock messaging/phone app. How do I get them back? Is any of this possible, while keeping CM10? I'm still a newbie at this. Any help would be appreciated, thank you in advance.
Stock apps for samsung do not work on cm or aosp roms. As far as the camera goes some roms have better ones than other you just have to find the right rom.
