What is the difference between the two forums? I just bought a sprint sgs3, from the 3d and im kinda confused on this..
Think of it as AD being TouchWiz ROMs and such whereas OAD is more AOSP based.

Original development is for things that have been built from scratch.
So any port overs or ROMs based on other ROMs don't belong in Original development section.

The "original development" thread is for non-touchwiz based ROMs, non-stock kernels,etc...
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda app-developers app
Gotcha. Thanks for the clarification.
You will also find some non touchwiz stuff in original development section too so it gets confusing. Original development is for original work not ports, rips, or themed roms.
Doesnt really have to be non touchwiz, just something original and not a stock rom with generic theme on it.

I have the S3, and S4's 441 ppi Screen is tempting me, but won't our GS3, have those features through a ROM? So should I upgrade or not?
Probably not. Unless you want Touchwiz running on the latest and greatest android build the GS4 is probably not the best way to go if you already have a GS3. Not to mention all those new features will be gone the minute you flash an aosp ROM. So YES if you want Toichwiz on the latest android version (4.2.2) but NO if you're an aosp guy or if you can handle waiting for the new features to be released on the GS3.

If in fact our tmobile s3 do not have an LTE radio then I myself might switch. I currently have the note 2 as well and I'm not 100% happy with either phones.
Sent from my SGH-T889 using Tapatalk 2
hmm feel like not worth to upgrade it
too few improvement
S4 is too much like the note 2.
Only plus for me is the quad core.
Transmitted from my SGH-T999.
I'll be upgrading to an S4, without replacing my existing S3 phone.
Outside the 1080P display, the TV remote and some biometric sensors, I'll have the same phone!
Samsung has already been quoted as releasing the software apps that do not require specific S4 hardware for the S3 and Note II. Look for it later this year.
Well if you're getting it for development don't count on many also Roms as cm team have already mentioned that they are not supporting the gs4. :/

Please discuss other devices in the sticky thread in General subforum
Thanks

Hey guys,
I've read that many of the software features from the S4 are to be ported to the S3 by Samsung as part of an update.
Does anyone have information on when that might happen and if it might be included in custom ROMs?
I'm most interested in AOKP. Thanks
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 2
It's still up in the air as far as I know. Individual S4 features have already been ported though.
If your more interested in AOKP then your more interested in AOSP and if that's the case then these TW features being "ported" shouldn't concern you really..

Check the first post of the thread in my sig. It has a list of the current ported S4 features. There are two different section, one for touchwiz and one for aosp roms. Keep in my most are only for touchwiz roms since they require the Touchwiz framework. Also, read the linked post at the beginning for what is fully functioning or not. Yes, the thread is updated frequently so it is accurate.
Edit: just realized that you are on tapatalk so probably cant view my sig, here is the link.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2206668
What is the different between these 2 threads? :
T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4 Android Development
T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S 4 Original Android Development
The items in the original development section are based on aosp.

Not really just because they're AOSP.

It all depends on what you're looking for. Both sections have great ROM.
☞Sent from here☜
Check out BOTH areas because you will sell yourself short if you don't. Also some i9505 roms work with tmobile m919 so check out that too. I'm currently running a i9505 rom as my daily on my m919. Its called bobcat.i really like it. Check it out if you like themed roms. But do try these places mentioned and don't stick with just one area. So many great roms. Have fun
