Hey guys I got my galaxy s iii a few days ago. So far I've just rooted. I'm running tmobile firmware released earlier, not the most current. (Oct 17) and I love the phone but some stuff is seriously confusing me. So apps like Gmail, and Facebook take an incredible amount of time to sync. I'm on wifi ping is 40ms, and my mbits down and up and both around 17 there's no way syncing should take this long. Even on 3g it is faster on my one s. Gmail can take literally 60 seconds to sync with maybe one new email. Facebook could take this long to load with nothing new. Web pages load up quickly. I cannot figure out why this would be if anyone has any idea please let me know. Or if a different rom should fix it that would be awesome I just know it's sad to see this phone failing in such an area.

Did u flash anything at all yet? Or just got the phone and kept it the same.... when I sync the little circle with arrows doesn't move.... but still syncs... it's weird... and that's on stock with root...

No I'd have mentioned it. Ha just stock rooted. With custom recovery. And hmm that's interesting but yeah nah this is definitely not syncing either. I have auto sync off but I've had it off for a few phones and never experienced delay like this.

I had a similar issue as well.
Loaded webpages quickly, but things like updating Facebook and Gmail didn't want to sync.
But I am CM10.
You can try going into CWM and clearing cache, dalvik, and fixing permissions.
If that doesn't remedy the problem, try flashing a new modem.

Is anyone else having issues with Awesome Drop? I hadn't used it for a week or so until yesterday. I dragged my file into the browser window and then nothing happened. The file showed up in the Awesome Drop window on my laptop browser, but the transfer didn't occur. I've tried it several times in the interim with no success. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? I've tried in both Chrome and FF.
Dumb question but did you make sure to open it on your phone?

Haha. Yes. Each time I also reset the PIN to make sure that wasn't goofing things up. Is the app working for you? If I know the server is routing files for others, then the problem is on my end. If others are having issues, it's likely on Awesome Drop's (Dashwire Labs) end.

Yep. I've uninstalled, wiped the Dalvik cache, tried restoring from Ti...no luck. Browsing, Chrome to Phone, texts...they all work without a hitch. For the life of me I don't know what's gone sideways here... It's really frustrating, too, because Awesome Drop is my go-to solution for a lot of file transfers. What browser do you use? Are you stock or using a custom ROM? (I'm on CM7.)
Stock Froyo (2.2.1) rooted. And Chrome on Mac. Are you on the right Wi-Fi? I know it seems like a stupid question but you'd be surprised at how often it's simple things like that

Ah, I wish it were that simple. I just confirmed that I can send files to a buddy's phone from my laptop...thus, I've managed to tweak something in the dark recesses of my phone. As I've been delaying my plan to flash a nightly version of CM 7, I guess the wait is over! Thanks again for verifying that the app worked.
Do you have a NANDROID from earlier that you could flash to to see if that would fix it? Then try to isolate the.problem in the data entering and leaving the phone

I've had this problem on every single rom and even my other android phone, the sidekick 4g. I've bee using myalbum for the past month or so , but I prefer the Facebook app uploader, any solution ? Seems that many people are having this problem.

Still can't get it to work, I'm pretty sure nothing is wrong with either of the phones, i tried a 3g slide also and it didn't work. Could someone maybe give me like a step by step thing for maybe security settings? I don't see any relating to the fb app, also looking at the apps settings, theres nothing that says facebook for android.

It works just fine with other devices. I thought it could be setting in facebook but it works everywhere but on my SGS3. And I think problem started after the last update of the app.
Agree, I have latest Rocket Rom v7 on my Galaxy Note and I get same error with the latest Facebook update. It's cleary a program error since I can upload pictures to Facebook with FaceUp!
I think this is really frustrating and I hope that FB will fix this.
Works on neither of my android phones. Desktop works of course, maybe ill try from a non android phone?

What carrier do you have? if its simple mobile, i experienced this problem, and had problems loading facebook/browser.
I deleted the proxy in my simple mobile APN settings
Working now!
I have T-Mobile , but I don't think that matters because it doesn't work on either wifi or 4g

Try to change visibility settings when upload a photo.
Try clearing app data in your applications settings for the app.
Nope didn't work, and for visibility , I can only change the visibility for individual pictures in the mobile uploads album , unless im missing something?

I don't know the fix for this, but for alternative tool you could use the Instagram app and it's doing great job posting pictures.

I use myalbum to upload pictures and It works fine , kinda used to it now, I was just hoping that I can get the actual fb app to work

same issue
i always thought it was a network error because restarting the phone usually worked but i was at the races in watkins glen this weekend with a full 4g connection on all areas i was in and it wouldnt load anything. restarted pulled battery i even tried differant albums and differant camera apps i tried everything it would not upload a photo. So after this weekend i believe its a facebook app error and really needs to be looked into
Hey everyone. My first post and I'm excited to have changed from CM7 to CM10! Thanks to the devs btw for making this possible. Anywho, I've searched for this already on here an Google to no avail. I've installed the Facebook app on my IC2 and for some reason, it looks like entirely different than the original. Doesn't look the same. I've provided a snapshot of it so hope it helps. And it's not just the layout that's changed but even my cover photo isn't visible. Anyone know what's going on?

mine did that when i came to PA, after a restart or two it gave me the option to update my facebook app and it went back to normal

I think it has to do with what the Facebook servers are giving you on cm10. I think its because jelly bean devices are all higher resolution than ours. It does it on the mobile website too, but if you change the user agent to iPhone on your browser it will look normal.
Phantom, parts of it look the same. But with the current version of Facebook for Android, I guess you could say that my layout for my wall looks entirely different. If you check it out on the Play store, mines doesn't look like that. Only the top portion seems to be okay. I don't even have a cover photo! But it's more of an annoyance than anything.

This has happened to me as well on CM9. I think the Facebook app thinks you are on a higher resolution device.

Yeah, I'm actually glad people know what I mean. I'm starting to agree with that. Probably explains why when I go to the Facebook site on the browser it sends me to the Facebook full site instead of the mobile. Hope they fix it soon!

Lol, Facebook is known to be slow on updates. For the time being, I just check Facebook on my computer... I don't need it for mobile.

So just thought I'd like to give a last update for this before I leave it floating in cyberspace... I upgraded to Global 4.1.2 JB and my Facebook layout came back. So basically everything is back to normal... I think. Maybe it was just a CM9 thing but cheers!

Use friend caster, along with this issue I was having more issues on top of that with the Facebook app. It just really....really sucks.

Sooooo.. one LAST update, I promise. Switched back to CM9 Psycho because CM10 right now was just too buggy for my phone. Everything with Psycho has been awesome, including camera. Anyways, that also brought me back to the original Facebook that I had when I started this post and it basically reverted but I rather have a stable phone than a distorted Facebook look. But I guess the problem just comes with CM9 altogether. Anyways, cheers! :silly:

I'm rotating from AOKP, PAC and CM10.1 on the Dinc2 and I love all of them but gif files sometimes work and sometimes don't. It seems like on a fresh flash they work but if I restore a saved nandroid they don't.
I'm not positive it's that way every time but it's driving me nuts. I have searched the internet and seen many with this issue but no resolutions of definite cause. I usually use Boat browser or sometimes Next browser but it's the Tumblr app I really care about.
Do the browser settings affect the Tumblr app? Just wanted to see if someone here had a suggestion?

The new google maps has been FC'ing like crazy on me when I try to use Navigation. It will eventually work after multiple FC's, but it rarely works right off the bat. Anyone else having this problem or is it just me? I'm rooted on tounchwiz.
No problems here just used navigation last night. And have the same set up rooted w/TW.. Not one force close! Might wanna try clearing data in the app, might help your problem!:what:

I've had problems. It doesn't seem to like the back button, or running in the background as its frozen a couple of times I've tried switching over and back from another program. I haven't tried again since the update earlier this week so some of the problems may have been fixed there. I figure with any major update like this, most likely needs time to work the kinks out.
If you can't even get it open, I suggest removing maps and reinstalling from the market, or if you're on a custom ROM, you can try clearing cache and Dalvik a couple of times and "dirty" flashing your current version again. That's fixed a lot of problem in the past. If that doesn't work, clean flashing is a good idea, not to mention half the fun of hanging out here on XDA.

I have the same problem as op. I disabled some of map's processes in autostarts to prevent battery drain a long time ago though, so I guess that may be my problem. (It all worked great with the last version of maps which I preferred.) I'm also still on Cleanrom 4.0.5 so I plan to do a fresh install of 4.9 just in case since I also have issues with my stock browser crashing lately.
