So I know there are a couple of posts on here but I have found them a little hard to follow. I just got my captivate last sunday and on the stock 2.1 rogers rom I noticed that the battery life was very poor. Since then I am now running cog 3.01 i think and my battery life is now alot longer than before.
For the way I would like to use my phone It is still not enough for what would make me happy. my phone is unplugged at 6:00 am and when i get home by 5 it used to be dead but after "breaking in the battery" and the new rom i get home with about %15 percent battery.
I just bought a triple battery pack off of ebay for $10. these batteries are rated at 1500 mAh, the same as the battery that came with my phone. I am just wondering what I can expect from these batteries.
My plan is to drain two of them completely then leave them in my desk drawer(from what I have read if you plan on storing batteries they should be completely drained first) and use one of them plus my oem battery daily(until they start to lose performance). Again does anyone have any experience with a battery of the sort or any similar third party battery?
they are no where as good as samsung oem battery. even though it says 1500mah it is not or will drop drastically after a month or so of use...i've bought a lot of those batteries from ebay and they always like that even some other well known companies like Seidio do not compare with manufacture's batteries. the difference is usable capacity, oem batteries are around 95% compared to cheap chinese ones that are anywhere from 60-80%.
haha thanks that makes sense why they are so cheap, well i will probs by three new ones every months or so.
I have those ebay batteries. I bought the kit that comes with two batteries and an external charger for about $10.
The ebay battery is has about 60-70% of the power of the OEM battery. I have no real hard evidence just from using it for the past 2 months or so.
I am ok that it is does not last as long as OEM because it was only $10 and it came with the external charger. I love the external charger because it allows me to charge a spare battery while I keep one in my phone.

I bought the same ensemble, with essentially the same results excepting perhaps that one of my replacement batteries seems to underperform with about 40% of OEM battery life.
That said, for $10... they're very handy as backups. They'll easily give you a few more hours in a pinch, which is essentially just what I was looking for. I really have no complaints in that respect.
The best strategy for battery life I've found is to buy a handful of wall adapters and position them in places you spend a lot of time at, and to develop a habit of plugging in when you're not moving around.
Sad but true, but mediocre battery life is just kind of a way of life for these (and really all) high-performance Android devices. Excepting getting an outsized and expensive battery replacement like the Seidio 3500 mAh that all but prevents use with many accessories and cases, a couple wall chargers and a car charger are effective if mildly annoying means of managing it.
These generic Hong Kong replacements are entirely effective as emergency supplements, but you'll find yourself preferring the OEM cell still.
Yep I mean for $20 I have two charges and 4 batteries so if I need to go without power , even if not a 100% match for the oem power, it is still damn cheap.
I also got one of these from ebay.
I got the 2x 1500mah batteries + Battery Charger combo.
I must say I am impressed. They are the same quality as my OEM battery. Its so convenient. I never have to run to a charger anymore. Just keep the spare battery in my car or wherever and just pop it in and carry on with my daily business.
When I get home, I just re-charge all the batteries. The Battery Charger even has an LED Light that tells you when its finished. "RED: while charging" and "BLUE: when finished". Charging takes about roughly 3 hours, (just like OEM).
Edit: Been using this for about a month so far. With no problems.. Its the best feeling. My phone is never plugged in anymore. And, I don't have to "pinch the settings" to make my phone last.
IE. lowering brightness to 10%, turning sync off, turning wireless networks off, etc.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
only crappy thing is??? I plan to sell this phone soon, when the Galaxy S 2 comes out, if the specs are good enough.

Would you mind posting the link or giving us the name of the exact vendor you ordered from?... I'm about to order the 2xbatteries and charger combo, but just want to make sure I get batteries that are half way decent. When I search on eBay I get about 20 vendors selling similar combos and given that in HK they're celebrating Chinese New Year... most won't fulfill orders until next week.
i wouldnt waste your money unless you just want an extra.

Whats up guys i got more of an opinion question. Right now you can get a oem battery for 20 bucks on the Verizon site, but on ebay i can get 3 battery and an external charger for 25 bucks. Now yes the ebay battery's wont run as good as the oem, BUT im getting 3. What do u guys think?

I got the 3 and external charger for 12 bucks off eBay. They don't last as long as the OEM, but 3 last a lot longer than one. Then I got the seidio 1600mah and it actually lasts me a full day. Guess I got one of the good ones.

I got the 3...If they don't last as long, I really haven't noticed.
I charge on my 2-hour commute, so I usually don't have any problems. I keep a battery at work, 1 in my backpack, & 1 at home. Options are nice.
I also got the 3 extra batteries for around 12 bucks. I haven't noticed any significant time differences between them and the OEM. Not to mention its kinda nice to have the external charger if i need it to charge an extra battery.

I'd do that just for the external charger. I bought an "OEM" HTC battery on Ebay for dirt cheap. It barely lasts 6 hours where my stock OEM battery will get 25+. Figures... you get what you pay for. I'll never buy used again to save a few bucks cuz you end up throwing that money away (usually).
My experience with non OEM batteries has been disappointing. I bought the 2 battery + wall charger from Ebay.. and no matter how long I charged it.. it never went above 75%. Also one of the batteries would drain to 0% and result in the phone powering off.. almost 5 minutes after I took it off from the charger (which said it was fully charged).
It was perhaps defective.. but that is something you might get when you buy so cheap.
I got the two "1700 mAh" batteries from htc express with the external battery charger and they definitely last a lot longer than the stock battery.. they were 30 bucks altogether which is more than the ebay deals but well spent imo

i would recommend staying away from the ebay batteries. i bought a bunch (5) for my incredible and they never lasted as good as oem. now that i have the thunderbolt im looking for a good deal on an oem battery.
Been using eBay batteries since my Samsung Omnia. They may only last 85% of the OEM battery, but I always have a charger (in car, office, and home) so very rarely do I need to run off battery for more than 6 hours anyway. 3 eBay batteries + the OEM battery last me a good 3 days with minimal use. If I turn on airplane mode though they'd last about 4 days, so I'm happy with them.
To each their own though.
ill sell you my OEM HTC battery for $10 plus shipping. i still have the original box and everything. i'm gonna be taking a chance on one of those 3500mAh batteries on ebay so i won't be needing this one anyone. PM me if you're interested
EDIT: cost me $40 at the time -_______-
Well i kinda just want one battery. Im not into the whole swapping batteries all the time thing. Im thinking about trying a mugen power battery
i just bought a 3500mAh extended battery on ebay for $9.99 with free shipping. ill let you know how it is...... when it arrives been july 5th and july 15th -_______-

I got (2) OEM batteries for 11 dollars each from ebay... and they work beautifully. It is exactly the same as the stock battery.
I bought three my touch 4g 1500 mah batteries for 12 bucks off ebay and they work just as well as the 1400 OEM battery. Dont see a noticeable difference good or bad. Plus the standalone charger is awesome.

THAT particular ones were what I would advise to stay away from. For me they never charged beyond 75%... unless I left them in the wall charger for many days.
.. and One of them would cause the phone to continually poweroff with sudden charge drops to 0%

Been using them for a couple months now and not seen these issues. I dont let my battery get below 10%-15%. They charge all the way for me. Perhaps you got a bad one? Mine have been great so far.

I've been using them for the last two months without problems. I usually can't even tell when the battery that came with the phone is in the rotation.
HI,
My Galaxy Note battery does not seem to last as long as I need it to.
Any changes to the system such as turning of Autosync or WiFi does not make a difference nor do custom roms made for extra juice.
So the only solution to this is to buy an extended battery.
I have done some searching and most extended batteries have some good reviews and more bad. For example, an extended battery I found on Amazon is being advertised as having 5000mAh of juice but in reality when you peel of the sticker it is 2x1500mAh.
So that's why i need some help on choosing the most stable (Not affecting my phone's software) and long lasting extended battery available.
Please Help. Much Appreciated.
Buy two 2700mah anker batteries and swap them when you need, very cheap and effective

I tried the gold 3200mah Slim one and just ordered the anker 2700. The 3200mah was good at the beginning but now about a month later it lasts as long as stock on a typical day. I don't know if my gold one is just a bad one that wore out prematurely or they're all like that. But for $12 its worth it.

How do you charge those two batteries?. Will they need an extra wall charger right? Becouse whats the point having 3 batteries and just one charger ( your phone ).
Im also interested on them, but sadly there´s no international shipping that I know of.
I recently bought a 2100mah battery and charger set off ebay for $8. Has anybody tried it yet? link
Its mainly just so I can have a backup battery and external charger but if it does last longer than stock battery that would be a nice bonus.
Edit: So this battery and charger came in a few weeks ago and both are working great. The battery life seems very similar to stock so I bet the actual capacity is around 1800. The charger works well, has a light that shows full charge and has a usb port on bottom for charging phone too. For my purposes I'm happy with this for now.
Edit2: After a few more weeks of occasional use this battery is definitely lower capacity than stock. My guess is around 1500 but no issues otherwise. The charger is working great though. Its nice to be able to charge battery out of phone and just pop in an extra battery in the meantime.

Here's my thoughts:
It's $8 for a 300 mAh upgrade. Plus, its in Hong Kong, so I don't know how quick it would ship. (Assuming you live where I do, in the United States.)
2300 mAh upgrade from stock. $20.
If you do the math, the second one is a way better deal.
http://www.amazon.com/QCell-Samsung-4100mAh-Extended-Compatible/dp/B006TQOJXI`
Yeah I agree big battery is a better deal, but I don't want a fat case and a heavy phone. This is a spare battery and charger in my laptop bag in case I need it. Its been a week already so it should arrive within the next few days. I will post some info when it arrives.
Just so you know you get what your paying for. So if this cheap battery fries your phone your out of luck with any warranties.
Ps. Don't use cheap batteries they don't have the same safe internals as oem batteries!
Sent from my Samsung Galaxy S Blaze 4g
I have yet to find a battery that is extended life and same size as stock that works as advertised. Usually after a week or two they last as long as OEM batteries do. I even read a whole article a few months ago about it and it seems they're all crap after checking voltage throughout a month span.

Bump, updated op
Are any of the cheap extended batteries for the Note worth buying? I see a lot of 5200mAh ones on ebay for ~£10, while I'm sure they aren't really that capacity; at that price they may be worth buying. The Mugen 5400mAh doesn't seem worth buying because I could carry numerous original batteries for that price without adding bulk to the phone.
I've bought 2 cheap battery's on eBay and both worked but lost capacity after a week or 2 and gave me screen flickering below 20% so I stopped using them. I only buy well known battery's now, worth the extra money. Even if they are a double or triple the price, you get what you pay for. (Most the time ^.^)
Edit: Mugen have good reviews, there's a review by a member on XDA somewhere.
Thanks for sharing your experience. I've just ended up buying the £20 standard battery from Samsung in the end.
I bought two Hyperion batteries and a dock charger that charges the phone and the extra battery at the same time.
What I do is keep the extra battery in my pocket with me. When the main battery finishes, I swap. Then when I get home at night Ill charge them both.
This tremendously helped me out over the past weekend as I wasn't home for 14 hours.
Got myself a 5000 mAh one with a bulky back cover and wouldn't want to go without it anymore,
is good for going 3-4 days without recharging now, a bit like the old days when phones were not
smart but durable...

Going from the standard to an extended (i have the mugen 5400) battery was for me like going from the S2 to the Note.
Size matters, and its hard to go back.
