I don't think that will work. You need the apps from a Google stock image, with the associated odex files if you deleted those too.

Extract these file you miss from ROM zip file /system /app folder.
Use something like Root Explorer copy them to /system /app.
Most importantly, set permissions, I don't which was exact, but I always set to 777.
And reboot, you will see

I copied the file "Dina.apk" to my Epic 4g touch but it won't install. It goes through the motions then says, "Application not installed".

you need to put it in your system/App folder using root explorer and set permissions, it can't be installed using a package installer
I've tried this method on my GS2 with the provided file and I just can't get it to work. It did work with the MicrobesGl live wallpaper though.
Hello,
You can generate a CWM script to install all share and other apps here:

Did you set the right permissions?

I deleted the DigitalClock widget by accident. I know there's plenty in market, but I liked the stock one. Anyway, I have the .apk, moved the .apk to /system/app with Root Explorer and changed the permissions (now it's rw-r--r--). But still, when trying to install, the message "Application not installed" appears.

when the app is moved into the system/app folder it is then installed, no need running the .apk through a package installer because youll just get the "Application not installed" error, this is because your trying to install a system app which is what the apk is and not a standard installable app.
once moved into the system/app folder and permissions set, check your widgets if not there do a reboot then check again, if its still not there then your doing something wrong or setting the wrong permissions.
If it's not installing, could it be because it's a Samsung app? For example the stock camera, phone and messaging apps just won't install when I'm on CM7. So I'm assuming the same is true for Allshare, though I may be wrong.

Thanks, tried all but the widget won't appear on the list. I guess something is wrong with the .apk then.

Samsung apps will only work on Samsung ROMs unless modded to work on ALL Android devices just like any other app specific to any other ROM
The app in this thread is odexed and for thus wont work with most ROMs as these are deodexed.

Tab 2 7.0 no file copy
I took down the Dnla.zip, renamed it to Dnla.apk and moved it to my Tab 2 7.0. Then I used ES File and tried to move it to Root/System /App but it fails. I understand I need to change permissions for this. How do I accomplish this without rooting the device?

Haven't tried it yet but maybe it requires TW framework? Idk. I'm on AOKP right now, anyone else try this?
Edit: Actually it doesn't look like it needs TW framework since people are getting to work on their Galaxy Nexus's
Hey.....when it is stable ...that's going to be sick bro........it has crazy potential........
UNTOUCHABLE EPIC CM9 BETA 3
running cm9 beta 3 nyan also and it works until i reboot. after reboot get fc. reinstall and works again.
Now.....after reinstall..should I reboot or no..?....I mean I will have to do a reboot eventually...
UNTOUCHABLE EPIC CM9 BETA 3
i would try it without a reboot at all to see if it does work for you. i did not reboot after installing.
I just installed and no reboot no move and it appears to work fine. I would love if eventually the microphone on the screen in cm9 in the search bar could be modified to run svoice instead of googles voice search

Folks, just download the file from here and extract the files from the rar. Push the voicetalk.apk to /system/apps and change the permissions, (or use root explorer) then open the APK file in winrar or winzip, go to the lib folder, then the armeabi folder and extract the libvoxtts.so from that folder. Put the libvoxtts.so file in /system/lib and change the permissions appropriately. Reboot and it will show in the app drawer under S Voice.
No problems on reboot at all. In fact... here are the S voice APK and the lib file already extracted for you, just open in winrar and put the apk in /system/apps/ and the .so file in /system/lib/, change the permissions on both files to rw-r--r-- and then reboot and you will be good to go.

Such a cool app. Works good. A lot of thing are missing and don't work. There are S voice setting we don't have because we are only installing the S voice app and there's more to it. But I will say this, if you are wanting a SGSIII before you try this. This is going to straight piss you off and make it worst. Sprint had better be bring us the full version of this phone.

[Solved] stock Jellybean calendar widget on custom ROM not showing vibrant color

Hello. I'm currently running a cm10 kang ROM but every gaaps package I've flashed has the old ICS calendar widget with the washed out colors. I was wondering if anyone knew of a gaaps package that had the vibrant JB widget or just a .apk I can install.
EDIT Ok, I got it working. I took the .apk from a stock Jellybean ROM and copied into system.
So,
1. download the .apk here. https://docs.google.com/open?id=0B4b...DZEUmgydHRPUTQ
2. Use root explorer or something that's able to access /system and navigate to system/app and go to CalendarGoogle.apk and move it to your desktop or your SD card. (personally I deleted it since if something went wrong I could just reflash the gaaps package to fix it.)
3. Using root explorer copy the .apk I posted to /system/app and make sure you change permissions. (I personally have them all set to read, write, and execute)
3.5 If you try to click on the app no that it's copied it will not install, just wanted to let you know that this seems normal.
4. Reboot
5. Once your phone has booted back up try adding the widget and it SHOULD be the more vivid colored widget!

It works fine!
However, I got duplicated calendar apps and entries in sync settings. Deleting original Calendar.apk and GoogleCalendarSyncAdapter.apk solved the problem.

[Q] accidentally deleted clock after root (4.04)

I rooted my phone following this thread for 4.04 successfully, but I accidentally deleted the system clock app while trying to get rid of the bloatwares. (I think it's called clock 1.0 in root uninstaller)
I checked the system/app folder and I have a file called "clockPackage, odex", but I don't have the "clockPackage.apk" file. Is that the file I need to get the default system clock app back? If yes can someone please upload it for me? otherwise what do I need to do to get it back?
Thanks in advance!
Just open up the rom you have wherever its saved extract the clock.apk. Then copy and paste it to system/app with the same permissions as the other apps r-w-r-r or 644 and root. Then reboot when it boots back up go to app drawer and you will see the clock app again.

thanks for the reply! sorry for my noobiness, but which file is the rom and how do I extract it? I looked through the unzipped files I used for rooting and didn't find any apk files
If you are rooted get root explorer to open the zipped rom then extract it to sd card then copy and paste like i said.

took a while for me to find the right rom haha, but I solved the problem, thank you so much!
How to delete manual time settings in a rooted device.I am in need of only automatic time providance which suits my phone.so please help me

Rom flashable .zip not working properly

I made a rom with bloat removed and some of my useful app into /system/app, after flashing the zip phone boots to OS but
i dont see my apps installed into system, also the airplane mode toggle is also missing from power menu.
I trying to flash stock GB rom.
when i look into system/app using root explorer i can see my apps there with proper permission but they are not installed
What can be the problem?
Are the APK files well-signed ?
Try to install them manually directly from the /system/app folder.
Hope I helped.
Cheers.
