Nokia no way dead phone
I went to the store, I saw the one S, I was about to take it but turns out it only has 16GB and not SD slot so no go for ONE S.
I saw the ONE V, its nice and small, with SD card but cpu is 1 core only.
anyway, there wasn't much of a choice, xperia models are all old, no xperia T , thats it I couldn't find any other phone beside the iphone 5 crap =))
so i got the one V but I didn't un box it yet so I may return it if I found a better phone soon.
thanks guys for your help

AGREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE:good::good::good::good:

I tried the Note 2 and don't really like it. Everything about the phone is good but its size and build. I like the speed and special features together with huge battery; however, the size is way too big for me to handle. Sometime it becomes inconvenience for me. I decided to stay with my HOX International

I thought it was some sort of Paintballing Company or something, sorry im a 90s kid

Common haha! S3 is awesome. I sent my S3 to repair some stuff (read this: ClickMe LOL)
Then i bought a HOX, i really enjoyed the phone but htc made some limitations, that's why I preffer S3. Its a plastic made phone but its very resistent, I love to flash roms but unfortunatly I got a S-ON device.
This year I bought 5 phones: iPhone 4S, Galaxy Nexus, Galaxy Note 1rst gen, Galaxy S3 and now HOX.
About iPhone 4S:
It's a very nice phone but I have always had apple devices, all iphones and i wanted to try something new.
About Galaxy Nexus:
I don't know if it's only in Brazil, but i got an international one, and there was no Gorila Glass o.0. Camera is really bad. At least nexus is on top to receive new updates.
About Galaxy Note:
It's a HUGE phone lol. Now I started to think i'm unlucky lol. Most of G.Note came with a Bug that you can't do a full wipe coz it erases the efs partition and you turn your device into a brick.
About Galaxy S3:
One world? GOD.
It's the best phone I've ever had. It's fast, beautiful, awesome camera quality. It's "wow". You can be sure it will receive many updates since the "S" line is very famous. You can say it's "cheap plastic" but why do u want more? Are you going to play tennis with your phone?? LOL
About HOX:
Loved HTC sense. Too bad i got a S-ON device and _044 cid. I'm a "rom-flashing" fanatic. I love to try as many roms as i can in a day lol, with this limitation by htc forces me to use S3 as main. Battery also SUCKS BY ALOT.But i'm gettin HOX+ as soon as its avaliable.Too bad I live in brazil and need to buy this phone in Paraguai lol its gonna take 10000000 years.
Sorry for my english typos lol
Hope this help you

Agreed.. ps. Only thing i don't like about Note 2 is the battery, thing doesn't die even how hard i try! 9hrs screen on time with WiFi on, all the syncs on and heavy use browsing xda and internet. How you can Kill the battery in 1 day? Impossible.

What to do with a broken ribbon cable...

Well, sadly, today I have broken the ribbon cable on the phone connecting to the screen the screen still appears but will not take input... The big question now is, is it fixable, and if so do I bother?
If not should I try to buy a used DZ or just go for a new phone? What do you guys think?
Then of course if it's a new phone that begs the question.... which one XD haha dam this sucks :/
What do you guys predict will be a highly supported phone by developers of those coming out these days? I want a higher end phone but I also more than that want it to be used by others
This happened to me with my g1. About this late in the game. Bought a used one on Ebay for parts. I also had my g2 out in heavy rain recently on the golf course. 70 to fix the water damage and get a new battery at a cell phone store. They have the parts.
New phone hercules or skyrocket or galaxy nexus depending on your carrier. I'm partial to the hercules. Development is picking up considerably.

What is the other name for the hercules? Also I'm considering the Sensation as it is a good phone and has some nice support and it's been out for awhile... But still looking also considering non-htc phones haha cause I barely use sense anymore anyways
Also should I try to wait until these new phones from MWC are out? I would like one with ICS XD
The Galaxy Nexus would be a no-brainer if it weren't for the fact that it doesn't have an SD-card slot :/ that's where I feel they messed up terribly..
Tmobile samsung galaxy s 2. Or the funny numbers at the bottom of my post.

I'm considering just settling for a 2011 high-end phone, right now debating between HTC Sensation and the SGS2
Though first I'm going to be seeing if I can send this phone in for repair... I am under a year, but it's gonna be a lot of work restoring it stock and then if I get it back returning to rooted ><

Thanks haha you think that the SGS2 will be a strong phone for awhile to come? You think development will last as long as it has on the Desire Z?
I found one that is apparently "Fairly good" condition for 300... if there's nothing wrong with the screen I may jump on it haha
I think the htc one s is going to be a really good phone that will last u a long time. It comes out in april so u gotta wait a little longer but its got the new dual core 1.5ghz s4 snapdragon processor which competes and even outdoes the tegra 3 in some categories. I know that its still not the top of the line like the one x which only at&t is getting but its still amazing. Also its got a sick new camera check it out on engadget. It comes with sense 4.0 but u can just get cm9 for a pure ics experience
Edit: just read ur comment about no sd card. Unfortunately this doesn't have one either but I think the one s has 16gb internal could be 32 look it up BUT it does have a free dropbox service for 2 years giving u an additional 25gbs

Yea the one s definitely looks VERY appealing but its a bit expensive and a large problem is the wait time :/ I mean I guess I could try... XD But if they don't replace this phone I'm not going to be able to wait for that as I'll need one now for every day.
Yeah quite frankly if I can hold out I think I would definitely go for the one s or one x, actually the X seems a little TOO big for me, sadly though does have a lot more storage and that bigger battery :/

That smaller battery in one s doesn't make a difference b/c it has a smaller display and a lower res (not true 720p) than the one x. Screen takes a huge amount of power that's y the battery is a little bigger in one x. I even thought the 4.3 was a little big lol my bro has the nexus s and I don't think I would want a display bigger than that. Not sure how much the price will be tho, maybe $250?? Newer high-end phones are breaking that $200 bar we're all used to. Honestly if I was u I would try and wait for a newer phone (i.e. one series) if ur gonna shell out a lot of money cuz the new specs in a month or so are gonna far out date anything that's out now.

Yeah I think I'm pretty much sold on the One S, and yeah I realize that the smaller screen will mean less battery use but just not sure on if it would account for all of it
However early rumours of the costs of the phones are putting them in the range of 700$ :/ I REALLY hope they are wrong! Anything under 600$ I think I would buy the One S
Yeah the 4.3 might be large but I think I'd be able to get used to it, especially with how pretty those 4.3 inches are
So I figured I'd update. I sent the phone in after reverting to stock, but, I have to wait up to a month to get it back, and they were low on loaner phones so I have a 2 year old windows 6.5 phone >< garbage! Supposed to give me an android! So, I called customer support, and after a bit of talking and such, they gave me 75$ towards the HTC one s !

I fixed my two g2's. Takes like 15 mins, just remember where the different screws where and don't cut the ribboncable for the keyboard when you open the phone.
Because that ****'s expensive

Would you buy your nexus again?

Hello...and no offense to you nexus owners, but I was really wanting the the SG3 but big red said that I am not eligible to keep my current unlimited plan if I get one because the 28th is the deadline and my upgrade is the 30th....(sorry had to vent a little).
Are you happy with your Nexus?
Would you buy again?
How difficult to root?
Unlock the bootloader?
I am on a droid X running miui from time to time I will tether to upload files from my tablet and I would not want to loose that...
Thanks and sorry for the rant...
Very happy with my Nexus, best phone I've ever owned. Love the stock experience.
I would buy it again in a heartbeat, but I'd love to have some kind of guarantee that I would win "the screen lottery" to avoid any magenta/yellow issues.
Unlocking and rooting are simple as fastbooting and adb pushing su; the easiest since that's what the Nexus phones are all about.
USB and Wifi tethering are still in the options with Stock, or you could flash whatever ROM you want. It's a Nexus!
The cat says it all. I love these threads

Definitely. Both that I've had are flawless, decent battery life, and the screen... not just the size, but the quality as well are gorgeous. The only phone I'd trade it for maybe is the One X, if Sense was removed, and it worked with 3/4G on T-Mobile.

Yes, for sure. very very pleased with this device.
i am happy with my nexus, i cant see how the One X or S3 be a big enough upgrade for me to buy eithe rone of them.
root and bootloader unlocking were easy, especially if you use the toolkit in the development forums =P. my grandma could have done it for me.
Definitely would buy the Nexus again. I also have a Vibrant running ICS. To be honest, I do want a Note and the SGS III, but the Gnex being so easy to root and flash makes it more fun. I do wish it had a microsd, but I really never needed more than 16 gig as I do not store music or vids.

I just came from the X2 (functionally identical to the X). Unlocking and rooting with the Toolkit is incredible. You'll truly appreciate touch ability in cwm. Right now I'm running it stock (issues loading paranoid grrr...) and I love everything!

Had it for about a week coming from a HTC sensation and have to yes yes yes I live this phone and would absolutely buy it again in fact I have a full upgrade in January (I bought this one full price from google) and I won't be upgrading then I probably won't upgrade till the next nexus comes out
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
Agree^ however imo the sensation was an amazing phone. I loved the cam on it but where the nexus lacks in camera quality the screen size makes up for it. The gnex is a great phone. The way i see it is nexus phone is the big dog. All other phones try to be it. Except the hd2 that phone is just pure amazing.
I dont think we will ever see the "perfect phone"
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
Only thing that's missing on this phone is a top of the line camera. I came from an SGSII, and had no problem selling my Lumix LX3 as the SGSII was good enough for most things. HTC One X and SGSIII have even better cameras, but now with the Nexus I feel I might need to purchase a digital camera again. Low light is terrible.
^lKeeping in mind we are talking about phones here, not Nikon's
As for the gnex its my dream phone, I tryed my friends and it was amazing. The screens just a bit big, but ive never owned one so I can't criticize yet!

Yes I would buy it again because of the strong community for the device. And how easy it is to root it (my opinion) and the fact that it's first in line.
Thanks guys...I personally wish I could buy one straight from Google but they don't have it for Verizon. If I can't get someone at Verizon to bend a little bit I am going to the gnex in the next week or so.

Absolutely would buy it again. I would not consider buying another phone that is not pentaband gsm. So no sg3 for me. Only problem I thought I had was (incorrectly) thinking it had a weak radio. Turned out it wasn't the phone, it was the pretty battery cover I bought! D'oh! My only real issue is Citibank or google wallet, can't tell which, and even that was fine till I decided to flash a new rom (search before you flash if wallet is important to you). I can't comment on the camera, I use my phone to communicate only, it works well as a video phone, I'm no photographer so don't care otherwise.

One S vs SIII

'sup folks.
This thread is dedicated to my lovely wife who just couldn't make up her mind between One S ("kinda looks nice"), Galaxy SIII ("oh nice screen"), and iPhone5 ("when is it coming out? my 3GS feels old"). And between all 3 of them, "can i unlock them?" (in Canada, phones are locked to their ISP, so if I buy it from, say, Rogers, I can't just pop another SIM card from, say, Bell.)
So what do u guys think?
Personally, I'm an Android guy through and through. Can't fix it? Find a ROM to restore it. Boot another ROM. Root it on day one. So iPhone is out of the question. But I tend to like the look of One S better than SIII. and i had good experience with HTC phones. and SIII costs $100 more.
But she's been using iPhone3GS, love the simplicity, has no idea what 'rooting' is and why its necessary no matter how many times I explained that it's necessary for TiBackup to work... But she plays around with my Nexus7 and loves to stream Korean drama and check Facebook with it. And last time we went to Costco she saw the SIII on display and goes "oh wow, that's a nice screen. does it work like ur Nexus? I kinda want it." So mainly for her, OneS is the cheaper phone, but SIII's screen looks amazing, and she'll only be using her phone for;
a. take photos
b. facebook
c. browse the latest grocery flyers and baby product review
d. stream korean dramas
e. whatsapp
What do you think she should pick up? Or she should just wait for the next iPhone in a month or two?
Any input?
Well Samsung did a great job with touchwiz out of the box. Sense 4 can be a little confusing for people coming to android. If she wants a simplistic phone go for the new iPhone, but the hardware will be IMO behind the s3. Get her an s3 she'll love it.

iphone if she's not into customizing since its really easy to use..but lame old design and UI
S3 overall good...
i got my wife the S3 and she loves it.. she likes reading Korean Comics and Korean Dramas and the big screen makes it good for those.. the camera is fast so she can take pics of our 8 month old baby ..
she just asked me yesterday ... "Hey is there a way to get rid of those stupid Rogers apps?" to her response i Grinned ; > so i will be rooting her phone tonight..
plus if ur korean like myself you gotta support the homeland ; >

Just FYI, you don't need to root to remove bloat.. You can just uninstall the updates to each app and "disable" them, essentially freezing them for good until you reenable them. They also disappear as icons when you do this, and background processes.

we're not korean but we love korean products! (from food to technologies to dramas)(ok, im not big on dramas, she is)
how's the build and everything? i read around and looks like HTC got a better/more solid build, regardless of smaller screen.
and battery life? I saw some poor review that One S lasts not even a day even on light use.....
No expandable memory
The biggest downer for me with the one X was there is no way to increase the memory on that thing.
Get her the iPhone. Chicks dig the iPhone.
Also, saves you time trying to teach her how to use things. Less confusing.
I personally would never let my mom or dad switch over to android -- too much learning involved. Get her the iPhone. You won't get stuck with returning it
S3 all the way baby. Screen size and widescreen ratio is reason enough for her to get the s3. Also it is quite pocketable. And its the fastest phone on the planet. Camera is top notch. Plus when she is ready to upgrade she can sell the s3 for a hefty price. S3 is atleast 200$ more than one s contest free. so you lose money technically if you go with one s

I am in the same boat pretty much and came here for a thread like this.
I am an android nut for a while now, i have an GNEX with JB installed and loving it. Girlfriend has always been an iphone user, loves getting cute cases and thats all she cares about.
The '7 comes out, it was 199 so i was like WTF i will get her one for couch browsing while i am using mine. Turns out she loves the '7 and can't stand her iphone anymore. Shes begging to get the sg3 now but i know its going to be a big learning curve.
I am probably going to get it for her tonight. Its nice to see an android phone finally starting to be a cross over device and pull in the iphone users.
well at least u know its an easy decision. my wife still on the fence between One S and S III
One S owners say Siii wins in terms of storage and removable battery, but everything else is "about the same". the screen is bigger and nicer, but it comes at the cost of heavier and bigger phone due to battery size.
the One S is smaller and has metal case, but she's not too crazy with the design. she knows S III is bigger but she loves the smooth curves. but it is bigger.

The One S isn't even the competitor of the S3 it's the One X, I know in NA there is really not much difference between the One S and the One X. But the One X is the flagship model which is what the S3 is so they are the comparable phones. Also you are not just getting a better screen with the S3 you are also getting 1gig more RAM and the ability to use expandible memory.

SGS3 can be little big for girls.

Can't she stream the Korean dramas on the iPhone?
I would wait to see what the iPhone 5 is going to be like and then let her make the decision.

she can. with aps. Viki aps to be exact. just like in Android.
she was waiting for the iphone but she saw the SIII and love the screen. that, plus she's been playing with my Nexus made her want to jump the wagon..... and ask me to do the research....

Or the women with men, gotta make it clear she's taken.
Lol one s? I'd take s3 or one x

I'd say let her decide whether she wants the new iPhone or the Galaxy S3. 60% of the women I've been with had iPhone while the other 40% had dumphones or some type of Galaxy device. Women love the big bright screen on the Galaxy phones, but they also love the iPhone because its fashionable

Should I return my HOX and buy an S3 ?

Hi everyone!
Well, i just bought a HOX, and it has 1 dead/stuck pixel an one "hot pixel".
Its not a big issue, i can live with it, but im really worried on getting worse problems in the future, like the loss of signal, wifi, etc.
While my original idea is to keep the phone because i really like HTC sense interface, and the phone itself is pretty quick, im still in time to return it and buy an S3 instead.
I payed a LOT of money for this phone (i bought it factory unlocked) and I want to be 100% sure that its a good inversion, as I dont frequently change my phone (im gonna keep it 2 years at least).
What should I do?
Thanks for reading!
Try dead pixel fixer app from play store.
Also the majority of one X users have no problem, i had a yellow spot problem, htc fixed it free under warranty, no wifi issues, and nothing else after that, its really your own decision. As you have posted in a HTC one X thread
we are bound to tell you to keep it as we are biased towards the device we own, but it is a great device, screen is better than s3.

Thanks a lot for answering!
My main concern is about the probability of the device having major problems in future...
The major issues such as screen, wifi, 3g signal and things like that, tend to appear in the very first use of the device or they appear after some time?
Sorry for being so repetitive, but i really want to be sure that im not going to have severe issues with the device in the near/long future, mainly because as I live in a "Third world" country, I have only 1 week of warranty (the warranty that the seller/importer gave to me). There is no official HTC support in my country and if i have to send it to USA for RMA, it would cost really a LOT of money. And as I said before I paid a lot of money for the device (about 5 times the price you get one new in the USA or Europe).
Thanks again!
I bought HOX few weeks ago and not experiencing any problems (which are not normal).
I unlocked the phone via HTCdev.com, flashed recovery, and using ARHD.
I guess it's newer, and those problems already fixed by HTC, I don't think you can suddenly get low signal issue if you don't have it now...
My phones part ID is SH24L i think its relatively newer.
Whats your part ID noamsch6 ?
Thanks!
Yes, buy an sg3 plastic phone and miss all tegra 3 games
How can we know what will happen in the future. Cmon.

so im waiting the lcd arrive because they dont have stock right know

so maybe after i fix it im going to buy a SMG 3

hi
im sure u have warranty go back get it fixed or replaced and enjoy
i got this phone for the looks besides its HTC no offense to SG3 but i just fell in love with this phone and got it with the kind a development u have here u will enjoy it dude mine is around a month old i have rooted and all and im using a custome rom iv had no problem what so ever:good::laugh:
No.
Personally I would swap it for the S3 if you don't do much gaming as above comment suggested.... It will keep its value longer too I reckon.
I had one x for 2 months and was really good phone, quality of screen is awesome, fast, good camera, no problem at all with hardware issues. But now i bought s3 blue color, and i just feel good with s3, its really amazig in all aspects. Runing JB, s beam, s voice, motions are really fantastic, and rooting process is really fast and good with samsung. I knew it becouse i jad s2 before. Its just my opinion but: s3 wins for me. Better in all things for me.

That's not what the guys who came to HOX from the SGS3 said. LOL

I just got an s3 for my sis and I'm really glad I have the HOX. Owning the S3 is the same banal experience as owning an s2 and note, it's boring but feature packed. Screen is nothing compared to the HOX and speed improvements are marginal at best.

Lol, like i sad its just my opinion, I had both of them, and i didn't want to say bad things for one X, i liked one x till i got my S3, and was the best phone till i got S3, my Hox was rooted, runing Arhd, everything was good with Hox, Ok battery and overheat was not good. and one thing was terrible, I use to much MHL, and need with subbtitles, and if you Run MX player or whatever with Software Dec... your phone maybe will start burn
If you want a stress-free experience, I guess you have a better shot w samsung, not saying that Samsung's quality control and customer service are great. Otherwise, keep it and pray for the best lol
The s3 will have problems just like the hox and all new top spec smartphones for its down to HTC build style and the screen is better stuck with the hox

[Q] Question for current Galaxy Note 2 owners..

Thinking of getting a Note 2 here in Dubai, just a quick question for people who have a Note 2 or Note 1.. do you get used to the huge size? How long did it take you to stop thinking "damn, that phone is big!" I've played around with the Note 2 and love the screen but have trouble imagining myself using it everyday, but I'm hoping it could grow on me (pun intended)
I'm coming from the Galaxy Nexus if that helps, anyone else made the same transition?
I used Galaxy S1>Galaxy S2>Galaxy s3 and Now Note 2. 5.5 is not a very huge design. Honestly it fits perfectly in my hand and pocket just like Galaxy s3. I can easily operate it with my 1 hand too and my hands are NORMAL. Even if you have small hands or small pockets, you will get used to it within a couple of days. Grab it man , its just Awesomeeee
Have come from a G2, which is way smaller but haven't found it too hard to switch. Have to use two hands for browsing and stuff but it's worth it for the media experience.
If you use your phone mainly as a phone, the Note isn't for you. If you use it more for Internet and media, go for it. You won't regret.

I too am coming from a GNexus and the GN2, to me, feels better in my hand. This is gonna sound funny but I used the GNexus for about a year and it progressively felt like it was too small. haha! I prefer texting and writing emails with both hands so the GN2 obviously gives me more real estate to make that more comfortable for me.
The problem I have now is deciding what I want to read my books and Flipboard articles with...my N7 or my GN2...
Damn I hate you guys! You just made me order a Note 2 32GB which is arriving tonight Now I have to get my SIM cut quickly!
EDIT: Spoke too soon.. they're "out of stock" on the 32GB, got the 16GB instead+ 64GB MicroSD
It is more of a question of 'how did i ever use something so small?' when you pick up your old phone after using the note for a week.
from a galaxy far far away....

This!
coming from iPhone 4 it took me all of 1 day.. actually more like 8 hrs or so to start wondering why other phones are so small...
it really surprised me a ton as I was dead set on getting the 2gb s3 lte but changed to note 2 at last second at the store counter ... I was pretty much sure I won't get used to the huge size but subtle changes in dimension from note 1 to 2 made a world's difference in handling...

When I was using my GNexus for months people were asking how I could possibly like using a phone so huge. Most of them are iPhone users minus a few that have seen the light that is Android. I seriously don't know how people can be very productive with anything smaller than 4.7" screen. Blows my mind now

Not long at all. I always wanted a bigger phone, and most importantly - I realized right away that I shouldn't bother trying to use it one handed.

Now that I got the phone, I wholeheartedly agree with every one of your comments
This screen alone is worth the purchase, let alone the beastly specs and monster battery! Thank you all for convincing me.

Too big? Nope nope nope. Got used to it immediately, mainly because it looked soooo much bigger in all the videos i watched.
Once i actually saw the box it came in i was like, wow! Thats perfect. So watch all the videos you can BEFORE and it won't seem too big at all...problem solved : )
I love this phone sooooooo much, it has inspired me to invent a new word: This phone is, "unputdownable.".. get Webster's on the line...lol
Not big. At all.
GNexus feels now like smth way to small.
Only one thing that annoys me, that battery cover is kinda slippery.
