so whenever i download the "nightly builds" for d2tmo, i go into clockworkmod recovery.
after i clear the data,cache,etc, i get a error 7 installation aborted.
anyone help with that ?
Boot into your ROM again, download ROM manager, select the T-Mobile Galaxy S3 recovery, let it flash and install from the ROM Mananger app, select reboot into recovery from app the, should boot into recovery, flash CM10, enjoy.
hey its a recover-clockwork.img
how do i flash that ?
What exactly is an image file, the new recovery your flashing, or the version of cmx your trying to install. Have you changed any build.prop files. This could be telling your recovery that your ROM doesn't match the phone.

CWM is no more there after installing a new rom and new rom won't load. Then i have to flash the stock rom again > root it > install CWM. Again when i install any rom it would install normally but nothing gives a blank screen after reboot and the stock rom is not even there.
The situation is occurring with the following;
Phone: Sony Xperia ARC S (LT18i)
Bootloader: unlocked
Android version 2.3.4 (Build 4.0.2.A.42) -
I have made multiple attempts on installing new roms but nothing works. Every time i reboot after installation im left with a blank screen. Can anyone advise what the problem could be ?
Thanks
Did u flash the kernel for the ROM u flashed ? The ROM will not boot without its kernel.

you must be installing CWM into the system through one touch command prompt program.. as such as soon as the ROM changes and you wipe out data and cache, CWM disappears..try flashing a custom recovery kernel which are available even for stock roms.
Also follow these steps for a custom ROM (eg CM9):
download the ROM, extracted it into a folder, copy the boot.img where you can remember, then copy the original cm9 ZIP - not the extracted folder- into the root of SD..use fastboot mode of flashtools to flash the kernel boot.img which you had copied..its a recovery kernel so CWM should open..wipe out SD data..then cache..and then go into advanced option and clear dalvik..and then proceed to install zip from sd..then gapps.zip if u want..it should install fine..and then reboot.
Press Thanks if you think i was of help to you..:good:

Got it - Yes i was installing CWM within stock rom via market. though i tried to install it through adb/windows but still i guess the problem was all about not installing a custom recovery kernel.
Thanks a lot !

Download stock ROM and install it via Flashtool.
My signature, there is link to download stock ROMs. Search for proper one and install it.
Hey all,
So I've attempted this multiple times, and looked around for answers - founds some, but didn't quite understand them.
The name says it all: I have a PrimoU device and I am trying to install Paranoid Android. I have done the following:
Full wipe: wiped everything and formatted /system.
Then, I install the ROM from my SD card.
Next, I go to bootloader, fastboot, and flash the boot.img (Hellboy Kernel i think)
Finally, I install gapps.
Am I doing something wrong/ can anyone offer me a solution. I've seen forums saying that I am stuck in a "boot loop" and that I need to flash the boot.img... which I thought I did. I also tried to go inside the ROM and flash that boot.img but it made me loop on the HTC boot.
Regards.

Ensure that you use the proper command
fastboot flash boot boot.img.
Does the cmd say 'finished' at the end?

Yes I used that command, and it says finished at the end. Which boot.img am I supposed to be flashing though? The kernel right?

So it goes: Wipe, install ROM, flash kernel (fastboot flash boot boot.img), install gapps... reboot?

Yes,just a change of order
Flash kernel, wipe, flash rom, reboot into rom, again into recovery and flash gapps.
(order doesnt affect much)
try like this
install kernel - latest hellboy kernel 15022013 - BE SURE TO NOT FLASH THE 4.2 ONE - flash only the one that has CM10 in its name.
boot in recovery
do a factory reset and then wipe system
install rom
reboot
reboot into recovery
install gapps

No problem !
Hi,
I wanne try to change my stock recovery but i'm unable to do it. i tried to flash cwm and twrp but it doesn't work. Stock recovery is always there even when "auto reboot" is off i also deleted a file in /system/etc but that didn't help.
Is it because of my rom?
This is my firmware:
N7100XXDMF1
Thank you!

Which partition did you use to flash it??
Try this method
Go to play store .. Then
download rom manager from clockwork mod
and follow the steps.. That should give you cwm. Now flash philz recovery zip using cwm..
or if you are rooted
download goo.im app
click on menu and tap on open source recovery .. it will give you a notification for twrp.. click on ok and it will download and flash it..

Do you currently have a custom recovery on your device and able to access it? Or are you referring to the stock recovery?
When you say you flashed CWM are you talking about the recovery or the rom?
Thank you, i already installed philz recovery and was able to install cyanogenmod
now everything is ok with my device, philz recovery saved my device

Hi Guys,
This is my first time working with a custom ROM. I have an old S3 which sucks due to Samsung bloatware. So, I wanted to play and install Cyanogenmod on it.
I have a Rogers Samsung Galaxy S3 (Canada) and the model is SGH-I747M. I was following https://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_d2att to install the recovery image & Release build (https://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=d2att&type=snapshot). I am using a Mac.
Steps I followed:
Installed Heimdall Suite on the Mac
Downloaded CM12 build & Google App and transferred it over to my phone's internal storage
Restared in download mode
Transferred recovery image
Restarted in recovery mode
Wiped/Factory settings
Apply Update -> cmbuild.zip file
It tried to install and then gave me a "Install Failed" error. I was then able to re-boot normally and get into the phone.
Any ideas, suggestions on what did I miss and what can I do? Is it ok to install the CM12 release build for my S3? Or do I need to go with CM11 or lower?
Thanks.
Flash twrp via heimdall to the s3. After flashing, boot into twrp and flash cm12.1 and gapps.

Ok, so I tried what you suggested. I am still getting Install failed error.
The error says:
Can't install this package on top of incompatible data. Please try another package or run a factory reset.
E: Error executing updater binary in zip '/sdcard/d2att.zip'
UPDATE:
Fixed the problem by Formatting through TWRP and flashing CM12 & GApps again. Worked . Thanks for the help.
Glad you succeeded!
