hey,
i noticed something strange on my phone. when i'm in an app like this for a short time (also whatsapp, facebook, etc...) and then switch to my homescreen, which has a dark, mono colored background, i can see something like a slight shadow of the previous screen overlaying the screen i'm on.
i showed it to a friend and he also saw it, without seeing the previous screen so i'm assuming that it's not just my eyes.
especially the keyboard becomes strongly visible after a while of whatsapping and then switching to the homescreen. the effect is not permanent, it disappeares after little time, but though, it makes me wonder...
can anybody confirm having the same effect? is it something to worry about?
i'm using cm9b2 with frovios kernel and disabled cpu rendering.
thanks in advance,
thomas

I dont have that problem and i am also on cm9 b2 with forvio v3. I dont tjink its your screen that burns up. Does it the same when your brigjtness is of?

I´f you are using his undervolt Kernel this can happen. In this case your screen can´t handle the lower voltage and is producing such ghost pictures. There is more about it in his kernel topic.
i'm using forvio's v1, sorry, forgot to mention.
if you say it might be a kernel issue, i will flash back to acro's kernel and report. thank you!
edit:
'aight, i just flashed acro's kernel, the problem is still there.

what do you mean with when screen brightness is off? with lower brightness the problem isnt that present but still visible, though.
maybe i'll try flashing a gb/stock rom next.
it doesnt bother me that much, i just wanna make sure it's not a hardware error.
any other suggestions are still very welcome!

i was only wiping the cache and dalvik cache before switching kernels, thought a full wipe wasnt necessary?
anyway, unfortunately, i assume that it is a hardware issue. i just restored an old stock rom backup and the problem persisted. while doing so, i noticed that ghost pictures are also visible in cwm recovery and on boot screens. seems like my lcd screen is causing the trouble.
maybe i'll just change my wallpaper to make it less visible . and when it gets worse i still have my warranty.
thank you guys

I've been on aokp milestone 5.2 for a few days and I didn't know if it was related to the rom or something I did or whatever but I'll be texting or on Facebook or doin something and my phone will just go to the boot animation of the pink unicorn. And I should probably mention that the colors are out of whack for a few seconds before it goes back to normal and boots up.
Edit: Everything's still there when it boots up everything's where it should be and nothing is missing or anything it just literally reboots instantly without warning or notice.
Edit: Could it be that I'm using advanced task killer? I figured it was okay since it was on the high security level setting, just throwing that out there
Thanks for any help.

I've got no help but I can say that this ROM ran totally smooth for me for a while and then suddenly got laggy, and apps have begun not responding regularly.

It is usually either a kernel panic or running out of RAM. You could try the V6 Supercharger for the RAM issue. As for the other I would always try odin clean stock then root and flash ROM and do not restore any data. Download and reinstall 3rd party apps fresh.

Use to happen to me also when i was on AOKP. I only noticed it when i was listening to my music tho....all my VC settings stayed the same after it booted back up so like you said it was just a random reboot. I installed V6 and that worked for the most part. The reboots did start back later on down the road tho.....

If by stock battery you mean the battery it came with then yes. I'm also running aggressive settings with v6 supercharger.
My only real concern was if it was damaging my phone in any way, or if something had already been damaged. But as I've said I really can't see anything out of whack aside from the reboots and colors. (the colors get inverted or negative or something for a few seconds on pink unicorn boot animation then goes back to normal and boots up)

This also happens to me. Same way. But usually when backing out of a text or when ending a phone call. Stock battery. V6 and no v6. Stock kernel and nyan, sammi, and shadow. What I noticed about the reboot is that it doesn't scan sd card or media.

Solution to this is to go back to a TW based rom...try sleeper or the peoples rom, joy and profit

Ok, I really don't know what happened. I charged the phone last night, and it froze overnight( not a normal occurrence). So this morning I did a battery pull and restart. It had some issues restarting, it took 3 tries to get it to work. Then when it did start, the display was odd. Everything is very small. The display still stretches the entire screen, just very small. Almost like the phone thinks it is a tablet. I was running cm9, but I flashed back to stock FTF about a month ago. Only thing done since is root (to retrieve titanium backups) and install cwm. I know that I could probably flash again and solve problems, but I just don't want to mess with rooting and restoring again. I tried clearing cache and dalvic cache, but no luck. I have attached screenshots of the problem. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Not sure what is up with the notification bar, but it goes away when in landscape mode. (shown in pic)

I know you guys are looking for ways to eliminate flickering on cm9 but the cm10 flickering issue has many different solutions. I am quite sure they can be attempted on cm9 as well. First off though I think you guys should list what you have done to remedy the situation so people just don't inform you of what you already tried.

Interesting... I just flashed cm9 9-30 nightly last night and i don't experience this screen flickering, or at least i'm not noticing it if it's happening.
I'm using sk8's cwm6.0.1.4 and I just followed the instructions on TC's webpage. And I just came from erick's cm10 9-28 nightly. Don't know if this'll help, but that's what I did and I don't see any screen flickering. What's the best way to reproduce this issue? I can try and report back if I see it or not.

Yup, I'm also seeing a small flicker as well. I couldn't get it reproduced every time, but if I played around with the notification pull down about half way and then swiped them back up, the screen does flicker black.
Is it only from settings that you see this? I tried from my home screen, and I didn't see any flicker.
EDIT: If I go only 1/3 of 1/4 of the way with the pull down in Settings, I can reproduce the flicker every time I believe.

It happens in all apps except the homescreen. For me, it does not matter if you pull it 1/3 or 1/4 or 1/2 or all the way down... the chance of it flickering when you drag it back up is about 20%
edit: I have the 9/30/12 nightly build installed. The flickering is not an issue for me and I use this ROM as my daily driver.

I'm having a weird issue when I flash a new rom to my phone. After I wipe my phone and flash the rom the colors on my screen change slightly, it looks like it gets a little more orange added to the colors. Does anybody know why dos this happen and what I can do to fix it?

Does it happen when you flash other roms or just that specific rom?

Gonna try that when I get home. Also PA made it to this device. Also the Jedi mind trick Roms. So many options. Wow head's spinning.
Leaning towards CM10.1 though.
No signal, can't play video
I was using CM10.0. Updated CM10.1 with corresponding gapp.
-Can't register on cellular network anymore. Can't set AWS frequency in the factory testing mode.
-All of my Video apps start legging, play videos for a little while and quit after about a minute, say video format not supported. Even though the video is mp4 format and it was playing it before quitting.
How should fix it? Flash kernel? Which kernel should I use?

Thanks that did the trick. I was going mad at why the LED notifications stopped working.
Also still on the non-touch recovery, 5.0.26 the one that needs the Darkmod scripts to wipe cache and do full installs.
Also had to turn sensor on/off before it actually worked. Read that from another post from someone that helped me.
Thanks again dude.
