Doesnt it enable talk using 3g or somthing
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
essentially yes.. 3g/wifi calls.. im assuming your asking in reference to starburst v1.6? not sure what it means for the rom.. but it was always possible through a sip client.. i personally use google voice and sipdroid (both can be found in market) to make free wifi calls when im home..
I would like to know what it means for the starburst Rom 1.6 if anyone has the answer.

What's the difference with doing that and just using your regular phone carrier

Well first of all to answer a couple of questions you can use a sip client to make calls. Its kind of like skype and you can get free sip providers to place calls. It will use 3g, wifi or 4g (not sure if sprint even allows it) so that you don't use minutes. now i have not personally tested the starburst 1.6 but i believe he added a configuration option in the settings menu so that you can dial a number and hit a button on the dialpad to place a sip call instead of a normal call. you would have to configure all the settings for your provider in order for it to work.
As title says, any way to fix this? I am using InfectROM Eternity, Sense 3.5, Android 2.3.3
Workaround is to use go sms and then enable splitting in its settings then use go sms as your new texting app

I do the same with handcent.
Is there anyway to send receive mms over WiFi? I use go sms and i think the app only sends over cell. Wondering if it's the app or Rom. Any help would be great

Tmobile only allows sms/mms to send over their network. Ive heard in the past that either mods or some 3rd party apps can accomplish sending over wifi, but im not sure.

Really? I did not know that. I dont use wifi calling and when its on it always seemed to give me problems with messaging. I'd just turn it off an move on so I coulda been easily missing something.
Still, good to know how its supposed to work! Thanks!

On my g2x it never worked over WiFi with Wi-Fi calling and go sms. Still looking for definitive answer. It's a feature that would really make my life easier

mms thru wifi and gosms dont mix. try handcent instead. works great, but you have to be on wifi calling for it to work

Makes me wonder if itd be possible to force it to activate wifi calling and send the message? Kind of like its supposed to do now with data. Gonna have to look into that.
Add it to my list!

I think Wi-Fi calling makes it work like mentioned above. But, at the same time, I know I had issues with doing it at one point with this phone.

Go SMS will send/receive mms when connected to Wi-Fi but not if you have Wi-Fi calling also on. Not sure there's a way around this. However the stock messaging app works on wifi even with Wi-Fi calling on. But even with the issue I still prefer to use go SMS pro over stock or handcent mainly due to it's iPhone mms group chat capabilities. Handscent seems to have a lot of issues with this feature.

Yeah thats annnoying as hell! Had that problem on my old mt3gs but tmobile fixed it pretty quick with an update. I thought it had been fixed but apparently theyve only fixed the bug where mms wouldnt send at all if wifi was active. Pretty sure there's a fix but I haven't found it yet.

Other solution
you could always use textplus instead. its an app that lets u send and recieve free texts and mms over a data network or wifi. it even gives u a number to match your area code. just a suggestion

Before the H2 update mms didn't really work over wifi calling. One of the first things I noticed when I got the phone. Since the H2 update dropped I haven't had any issues

Bone stock should be able to send/receive mms over wifi calling. If you are using a ROM I have no idea, you'll have to reach out to the developer of your ROM. If you have done the mods to enable group mms, you'll have to revert back to your stock SecMms.apk to send/receive via wifi calling then switch back to your modded SecMms.apk. Unless someone has made a fix but I haven't been able to find any yet.
Ok I'm at my girls house and no service. Which ROMs can I use to use WiFi calling or send mms
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda app-developers app
Touch wiz or stock 4.0.x based
Jedi kight 6 works great and the wifi calling starts quickly.
I'm on aokp. I love it but just not able to send messages or get my calls. It really sucks that I'm going to have to change it. I got one bar and I'm lucky to have that lol. It's like I'm in a dead zone :banghead:

I'm lost but interested lol
Scratch that. It calls from a different number. I've used that app before. It's affective but I want people to know it's me calling. Guess I'm just stuck with going with a ROM that has WiFi calling.

Any TMo touch wiz based ROM will work.
Following the various instructions around the web, I can't seem to set up SIP dialing and I think it's disabled by my provider (Telus SII X using stock Telus 4.0.3 from Kies). Can anyone verify that this is the case before I resort to modding my folks' T989D using a baked ROM? I need a setup that's rock solid and doesn't need flashing a new ROM-of-the-week or them pissing around with their phone (with me inevitably on the other line guiding them through it - I'm no expert myself). Thanks!
the vonage app is FREE and it calls from your number over WIFI or 4G data... you can also text from there too, for free, from your number...
Hey guys I was wondering what apps you use for Google Voice integration on your E4GT?
Last night I was bored and since my E4GT isn't activated on Sprint and I have a dumb Verizon phone I wanted to make calls with my E4GT.
I downloaded Groove IP Lite which seems to integrate Google Voice very well. I was able to call my Verizon number without any trouble.
Then I downloaded the Vonage Mobile app and during setup I used my Verizon number and it appears I am using that number to make free outgoing calls to US numbers. I don't receive many calls so I don't know if I'll receive them with the app. The sound quality is great since I'm using my Wi-Fi at home.

Groove IP is great.
Here is a app that intergrates GV SMS into the stock/go sms app's. There is a trial version available.

Looks good but the Google Voice app handles text messaging just fine. I'm more interested in calling.
My E4GT isn't activated and I want to be able to use it while I have a Wi-Fi connection.

I found that out after using it. It's just cool that I can use my Verizon number on the E4GT even though I don't have it activated.
