Here's MY CWM Zips for activating Smart Rotate, with the bonus of removing the daft permanent Blocking Mode Icon.
To install just flash in CWM.

NEW : this version has a fix to the Samsung wording used in the Smart Rotate option. It didn't make English sense. Thanks to the i9305 guys for noticing it (chippy to be exact)

As you can see, the Blocking Mode Icon is not present in the first Screenshot, and the Smart Rotation is enabled in the second. To prove it's working launch an app that will rotate after the feature is enabled, now tip the phone on it's side and you should see the little eyeball icon next to the signal indicator for a second.

Really? How strange? So if you turn blocking mode on the icon appears in the notification area?
Mind grabbing a screenshot, and posting a link to the rom please, I know the DLIH version worked on one of his roms, think your the first onto th DLJ1 version to try it though.
Thanks for the heads up though.
Edit - see the attached image of mine (Omega v29), Blocking mode on, notification area without icon. Hmmmm
Fixed it. Must be a conflict with a add-on I had. Wanam 4.0 fresh install and this works great. I'll start flashing my blue icon mods etc and see if I find the conflict. Thanks buddy and great work
Would be possible to have the Smart Rotate without removing the BlockingMode icon?
Or could someone explain me what's good in removing the BlockingMode icon? honestly I can't think of any reason at the moment...
Thanks!

Because it's annoying! If Blocking Mode is set for during the night only, the notification icon is there all the time during the day too!
Very grateful for this mod.

Agreed. Blocking mode is a real nice feature but I don't have to be reminded the whole day.
I understand Samsung choice to notify the average user but for me I would like to have a clean notification bar.
The opposite for my boss who has multiple SMS, WhatsApp and e-mail notifies any time throughout the day
I'll do a version without the blocking mode icon removed. Although I honestly can't see the point in not having it removed.
If you dont use Blocking Mode then that mod wont affect you, and if you do and like the Blocking Mode icon then your mad

About the Blocking Mode, I didn't even know it was possible to set a time for it^^
I understand the icon makes no sense for people who set a recurring time... but for people like me who just turn the Blocking Mode manually once in a while, it's good to have the icon to remind me (otherwise I'm sure I'd forget to turn it off again)

Hey no problems, Horses for Courses as they say
I'll keep it up to date anyhow if we get a new framework.
Install it but blocking is still there in toggles but smart rotation is in setting
Please fix in toggles to remove blocking and replace with smart rotation.
Thanks a lot for the good work and keep it up

It doesn't remove the option for the Blocking Mode from settings, it actually just removes the icon that gets turned on when you enable the feature.

Hello
Description
Since some time Samsung made it possible to see videos in portrait. That's a nice feature, but the only problem is that, if you don't have auto-rotate on, the player will be stuck on portrait and you'll have to return, then activate auto-rotate, and re-open the video. It's quite annoying(for me) so I decided to edit VideoPlayer.apk to disable auto-rotation, but maintaining the feature to rotate the screen. Since I personally don't use SRS effects I decided to replace that with a button that would rotate the screen. So if you click on that button and you're on portrait, you get to landscape and the opposite.
It has another advantage over Auto-rotate: if you want to look at a landscape video but you're in a position between the two, with auto rotate it'll sometimes go to portrait, with this it won't.
So, what does it look like?

I would appreciate if some designer could make an icon for it or even give me a good one! Dimensions of the image are 110x76 for Landscape and 90x74 for portrait(thanks in advance!).
If you need:
If you need SRS effects, leave a message and I will see what I can do. I removed it because I personally don't use it but I don't know if many people need it.
If you need other rotations(landscape-reversed, portrait-reversed), also leave a message. I can easily include them, I just need to know if some people need those.
Compatibility
It should work on every Samsung ROM(maybe not future upgrades), I'm personally using Batista 2.3 and used the VideoPlayer.apk from it as a source. Leave feedback if it's working/crashing or not please .
Developers/Themers
If you want to include this in your ROM or theme/edit this, no problem. Just leave a little credit .
Installation
I am not responsable from anything that could happen.
Two methods :
1. Replace manually the APK downloaded from below and paste it in /system/app and confirm the replacement of VideoPlayer.apk with a explorer that has Root functionality, like Root Explorer or the new FileSlick.
2. Install the CWM-VideoPlayer Via CWM/Recovery(Thanks Rawat for CWM-script!).
.
Awesome. I have the same trouble all the time. Great fix...

I don't really know, they don't define "development"! Reenginering is development for me(SMALI). If it's only for ROMs then yes I guess it should be moved.
" [READ] Only actual DEV, GUIDE, HOWTO, HACK, MOD, APP & FIX topics allowed in DEV area" <- This seems to fit !

Here's a basic update.zip which overwrites it with your modded app.
I would have made a more fancy one that renames the old one to videos.apk.bak , but I'm just feeling too tired right now

thanx..thanx... thanx a lot..
For some reason this did not work for me.
Could you simply change the name of the Activity so that this is considered another application. Then we can choose witch app to use for videos (the original, or yours), and put the tick for using it every time if we like it.
Thank you in advance!

Thanks for the tip! But for me it's not only because you don't have autorotation on that it's annoying, also because that autorotation sometimes sets to the wrong position for example in bed.

Well for you it's really simple, I created it in 5 sec(only XML, no development), attached here.
It still has SRS effects, but has nothing to do with main post as it's only in landscape and won't rotate at all(landscape only). But it seems to fit with your needs. So here it is(not tested though, but should work):

I couldn't find any stock launcher mods that were simply a single homescreen and/or rotation enabled. After poking around enough I've managed to create them!
Note: These are not flashable zips. I recommend pushing them through ADB.
Single Screen
Single Screen mods require you to disable "Automatically add widget." in market settings. Not doing so will cause force closes when a new app is downloaded.

You're welcome! I just wish I could fix the reason for the force close on single screen launchers. There is a good work-around but I hate work-arounds.
My only thought was to delete every reference to the screen IDs beyond the one I left in then delete the public.xml and let it rebuild itself, but that caused a force close on boot.

I don't believe so but you can give it a try. If I am thinking correctly the application was built using the framework of the Galaxy Nexus.

This is the first release of Peace (net.howett.android.peace), a Cydia Substrate tweak designed to remove Verizon branding from the stock ROM shipped with the HTC One.
Why should you have to flash an entire custom ROM to remove a couple annoying misfeatures?
Peace v1.1.0 is out.
Requirements
Rooted and potentially bootloader-unlocked HTC One (m7vzw) on 1.10.605.8 (other versions not tested, but should work.)
Cydia Substrate (see note 1)
What it Does
Removes the VZW-"mandated" wifi status notification. As if we couldn't tell from the status indicator, they saw fit to constantly notify us that we are or are not connected to wifi.
Removes the ADB connected notification. This isn't branding, but it IS somewhat annoying.
Replaces the rather ugly, boxy NFC logo with the default Android NFC symbol. This bit is particularly interesting and potentially controversial given that since 4.2, AOSP doesn't even display an NFC icon.

becomes
Replaces the VZW 4Glte/3G indicators with the unbranded LTE/3G indicators included in SystemUI.
becomes
Removes the "GPS One" (compass) and Beats icons from the status bar.
Planned
Remove the wifi suggestion ("Do not use wifi, but please tell me this every time I launch an application") pop-up, if desired.
Remove other bits of branding.
Provide the (potentially out-of-scope) extended power menu
Downloads
Peace 1.1.0
Notes
Due to the kernel-level write protection on /system, Cydia Substrate will not properly install outside of recovery mode. To install Substrate, the following might be required:
Code:
# From a recovery mode shell.
mount /system
# patch the system linker to recognize /vendor/lib
/data/data/com.saurik.substrate/lib/libSubstrateRun.so do_patch
# link the substrate libraries to /system/lib
/data/data/com.saurik.substrate/lib/libSubstrateRun.so do_link
ln -s /system/lib/liblog.so /system/vendor/lib/liblog!.so
ln -s /data/data/com.saurik.substrate/lib/libAndroidBootstrap0.so /system/vendor/lib/liblog.so
Peace is open-source!
(Reserved.)
While were at this wonderful thing I've been waiting for, can you remove the location compass looking icon up in the status bar too?
Can you provide an image of the unbranded LTE/3G logos? Also, can we return to stock by flashing something else if we decide to?
Thanks!

Good god, absolutely. Beats as well, because it's either on or it's off: we don't need an icon to tell us we turned a feature on. I'll wrap those into the next version.

Sure, I'll update the first thread with screenshots once I'm home (EDIT: done). The beauty of this being a tweak is that you don't even need to flash it, much less flash back. if you uninstall it via Applications, Cydia Substrate will offer to soft-reboot the system, and you will be totally back to stock! All the modifications Peace makes are done at runtime and will have no lasting effects once it is uninstalled.
I dont have root yet, but do we need to flash all of these at once? Ex. I personally LIKE the data logos from vzw, but i want to change everything else.

Alright, since there seems to be a reasonable demand for it - I'm considering a couple options.
I can either make it an all-in-one package with a settings panel (potentially integrated into system settings - that'd be somewhat neat.), or split it into a debranding package and an uncluttering package. Thoughts?

I've got no issues with the stock data logos. I don't see why anyone would, they aren't bad.
So I really like what you've done here. I've been using it, but the only issue I have is that I have to run Substrate every single time I reboot to do these mods. I realize that these changes are all done in memory but damn this sure is annoying.

You can make it permanent by running the commands in the first post in a recovery shell. I'll look into making a flashable zip if that makes the one-time setup easier. I'm glad you like it!
I have also noticed that after running this that my WiFi has trouble. It gets stuck in "turning on wifi" mode permanently. It never turns on.
Works perfectly on my Sprint One with Flex360's Stock with Goodies 4.2.2 beta 3. I'm sharing my success with them.
Just curious, can this effect be duplicated with Xposed Framework? I don't know what goes on under the hood, but it would be nice to have all tweaks in one framework, instead of relying on both Xposed and substrate.

That's really bizarre: I'll look into it, but I haven't personally run into it. All this turns off is the wifi notification status update (but I wouldn't put it past HTC to have placed something important there )

Just curious, can this effect be duplicated with Xposed Framework? I don't know what goes on under the hood, but it would be nice to have all tweaks in one framework, instead of relying on both Xposed and substrate.

Glad it works! It could likely be duplicated via Xposed, but I personally prefer substrate. I might look into this in the future.
Any one has a issues with battery life after applying this? I installed this mod and xposed frameworks about the same time. Just trying to isolate the issue.

Very nice work. How light is the ROM now?
Edit: Dang it is light. 592 MB.

Hit that "Thanks" Button if I helped you!
I took out a lot of stuff. I know some people wanted a debloated rom that they could mod the way they want with xposed or other flashable mods.
Did you include the Hot Spot mod?
No mods, except for the dialer and gallery sounds. I forgot to change the system wide touch sounds though. This is basic enough that mods can be flashed without conflicting with any built in mods. I was going for simple.
That's awesome good job dude

Ah! I see what you meant. Thanks for the suggestion. I tried to PM you but it wouldn't go through. I could probably work on making zips for all the other mods from MetalRom. It might take me a while to get them all. What would you like first?

cool. it don't matter which is first, i'm just thankful for what your doing here.
I might do the 4-in-1 reboot and volume button to skip track mods first, they seem to be the most popular. Thanks for the support.
Some other mods

Here are two mods that are functional, rather than changing the look:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2224083 (Hotspot and tethering)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2226905 (Device status as "Normal")
That would keep the look of stock, but extend what the phone does.

Is there anything else you guys would like to see removed from this rom? I'd like to make it lighter but I'm not sure what else can be removed.
Thanks For Asking

YES, thank you for asking. Replace the boot animation with something smaller and lighter.
I have no desire to advertise Samsung or Sprint unless they agree to advertise me.
I haven't gotten around to installing this yet, I had just flashed and set up MetalROM 3.5, but I look forward to trying this out.

Nice, thanks! I've gone back to stock ROM's because of data connection issues. I'd like to see just how small you could make this. Vanir and CyanFox are two that I'd like to run, but those are have issues on MY phone. I'd say rip out everything that does not involve making a phone call or sending messages.

Hey guys, over on the Post Your Homescreen thread, there are a number of people running stock roms but with a different colour notification shade and no "S Finder" or "Quick Connect" icons. I would love to have that. They say to do that, you'll need Xposed and Wanam but as far as I know, Xposed isn't working for stock Lollipop roms at the moment which is what I'm running. Is there a workaround that I'm not aware of?
Also, how can you change the icon theme on the Edge bar? Thanks a lot for your help!
Don't know about the buttons.
But the icons on the edge follow the touchwiz theme. So if you are rooted, you can use one of the apps to change the touchwiz icons, which then changes them on the edge as well.
If you are using, say Nova, this means you can actually have one icon pack for the homescreen, and one for the edge.
I use Galaxy icon themer, which works fine on Lollipop. There are a couple others, but I think they need xposed, which, as ypu said, is a problem on TW lollipop right now.
What model of Note do u have? if have 915G id recommend Alliance ROM can customize just about everything, or if have 915G or 915F then run Emotion Kernel which after you can install Xposed

Thanks for the tip! I wonder how I never came across them. I do have the 915G so the Alliance ROM sounds perfect. I just have a couple of questions though:
1. They didn't mention anything about the possibility to remove the Quick Connect button in the notifications shade, only the S Finder. Do you know if it's possible?
2. Any known bugs and issues? (since it's in BETA)
3. I've been having this problem "Unfortunately, Package Access Helper has stopped" when trying to install big apps from Humble Bundle or Amazon (under 100MB are always fine though). Others seem to have this problem as well. Do you know if this ROM addresses this issue?
4. If I do a backup of my system settings in my current stock ROM (using Titanium), can I restore them after flashing the new one? It wouldn't create clashes or disrupt anything? This is something I always wondered about flashing new roms.
Thanks again for the help!

Heya,
1. in alliance can only remove both Quick connect and SFinder bar
2. Bugs: lockscreen effect don;t use ink, stick to tiles, the R from the clear button on the drop down menu is missing
3. Not had any issues downloading from Amazon, never tried Humble
4. Settings backup not good idea as Alliance ROM has changed settings options and I have found that generally best to start fresh
Apart from that had no issues myself

haha I see. I guess it'll all become more clear once I flash the ROM! Thanks again!
EDIT: Just spent the whole afternoon on this rom. Can't say I'm a fan. For some reason, I can't change the wallpaper. Even when I switch to Nova launcher and try to change it through there, the wallpaper still won't budge. There are also a lot of inconsistencies. For example, pretty much every theme I tried had some kind of problem with font colour being the same as the background in some menus, making it impossible to read. Usually appeared in the Reboot menu but some themes had it in other places too. Took me ages to finally find the right setting to fix that. Still getting the "unfortunately, package access helper has stopped" when downloading from sources outside of the Play Store with large apps (100MB or more, Amazon or Humble). I also encountered a problem with the sound mode toggle in the notifications shade. After switching the phone to vibrate only, I can't switch it back.
In the end, there just seem to be way too many options for what I need, which would've been fine if it weren't for the fact that it's so hard to find the options that I want. I'm gonna try the emotion kernel now
As far as changing the buttons and icons on the edge goes I just thought I'd throw this out there... I'm not sure about changing the look of the included factory edge panels if that's what you're asking, but there is an awesome app on Play that you can buy (which is a must have app for Note Edge owners imho) called "EdgeNavi Pro".. which let's you put practically whatever buttons you want on the edge and you can also "theme it" to however you like (there's also a free version which is limited but the full version is more than worth it especially with this phone). It doesn't have included "themes" so to speak but you can pick the color of the edge, change the icons of the buttons, pick the transparency, and so on. Anyway just thought I'd mention it because imo it's worth its weight in gold and it actually makes the edge worthwhile and useful finally. Hope it helps and here's a couple of pics just to give you an idea..
