yep exactly what i did, tried to flash the new cwm over my already installed twrp 2.2
BUT, i pulled the battery..left it out for an hour, then plugged the usb into the phone, and bam, my pc recognized it again, so i used adb to flas twrp 2.2 back on there, and im up and running again!!
im using this rom, marvelc_vm_usa_v1-1, custom stock, rooted, wifi hotspot etc.. i like it far better than the cm9 rc2 alpha i was on, partition to sd is a must, though!:good:

I just read this post to see if I could help , glad to hear your back up and running

Exactly. I have done the same.. if my battery completely dies then I must pull it.. and use adb commands to actually restart the phone... on my galaxy 3 now with jelly bomb/freegs3 combo.
There is an all in one tool for the VM wildfire s. I suggest you download it. Saves lots of time.

The VM 1.1 from was the best I found by far! Then partition your SD card and use link2sd to have storage.. works well

What rom are you using? Did you take the details before attempting to root?
You may need to flash an RUU as it sounds like something has gone wrong while rooting.
The more details the better, carrier/branded etc....

Does it have any provider branding/apps in the software?

my phone was unbranded, but my problem is not the rom, it is that my phone can't reboot from fastboot
I'm aware of that, but unless you are S-OFF, there is no way to flash a recovery image apart from using unrevoked as far as I know.
Personally, I would look at running the WWE RUU although this would wipe your phone (not sdcard though).
Your call I suppose. There maybe someone else around with other ideas.....

If my Desire HD is anything to go by, can't you access fastboot through hboot? Or even recovery if you say you flashed it. Pull the battery, and use vol down+power

Yeah it does work.
Edit: Now what shall I do?
Now redownload cm7, the cm7 you flashed might be corrupted
connect phone to pc by usb cable
Boot into recovery
From mounts and storage select mount usb
Your pc should see your sd card now
Copy cm7 file to sd
Unmount usb from recovery
Try to flash cm7 again
This should fix the problem

Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
Probably Unrevoked method
I tried it, but it said that the firmware was to new.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda premium
revolutionary
Sent from my HTC Desire
i may be wrong but i think that revolutionary is the only way then
revolutionary technically performs s-off, root is achieved afterwards
read the documentation first
then follow this
What can i add?
S-OFF & flashing custom recovery is a very handy thing.
If you break something you are able to repair your system through recovery, but even if this fails you still got access to fastboot. It's really worth to do. I dont regret i've done it and this helped me a lot many times already.
Thanks guys. I will try this out.

yes, you need the superuser.zip on your sd card in order to flash it...
that guide overcomplicates it a little bit imo. you can just copy the superuser.zip onto the sd card using a card reader, before you put it in the phone.
then when you boot into recovery, go straight to 'install zip from sd card', find superuser.zip and flash it. push the trackball to select within the menus
and then u r rooted

So I probably made some enormous stupid mistake.
Have rooted unbranded hox that didnt install ota (returned to clockwork recovery) and used this instead:

Installed without errors, and updated without errors, but stuck at boot screen.
Wont come back to recovery with volume down either.

In recovery go to mounts and storage, then mount usb storage and connect usb cable to computer.

2. have flashed boot.img from the official rom via pc
3. have installed official rom via recovery
4. still stuck at loading screen
and
1. have tried using boot tool
2. locking (unrooting) goes ok
3. ruu starts up ok
4. cant install because of low batt.
have left phone in recovery to load battery over night.
is there anything else im doing wrong?

Desire Z suddenly not booting... Help needed please.

Hi All.
Hoping someone can help a relative newbie.
About 3 months ago I upgraded to a Galaxy S3 and gave my Desire Z to my girlfriend. Before doing so I flashed it with virtuous rom and wiped everything.
It's been working fine until a few days ago when it started reacting slowly to screen touches then continuing to react, ie she would start scrolling a list and nothing would happen, and then all of a sudden it'd start scrolling and not stop despite the fact that she had stopped touching the screen.
She pulled the battery and rebooted and it seemed fine.
Then yesterday it was ok and all of a sudden it tried to reboot.. Since then it has failed to boot, instead getting stuck on a white HTC screen for a bit, then the screen goes blank, and it vibrates and comes back to the HTC screen.
If I pull the battery then hold volume of and power it will boot into hboot, flash up some text and then sit on the hboot screen.
At the top is the following.
VISION PVT ENG S-OFF
HBOOT-0.84.2000 (PC1011000)
MICROP-0425
RADIO-26.03.02.26_M
eMmc-boot
Now, I'm hoping I might be able to get it working again but could do with some guidance.
Is it a case of reflashing the rom by sticking it on the sd card and going into the hboot and flashing from there?
If not, then how do I go about it?
Any help very, very much appreciated!

Just take out the SD Card and make back-up of it and Format it hardly ( Fill with zeros ) and also you need to flash a new kernel and a swap enabler.
when you finish formatting the sd card make 128 Mb of swap partition and put the sd card back on.
then find the rom u are using and open that zip file and take out the " boot.img " file and flash it directly via fastboot
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Click to collapse
this means you just flashed your kernel.
And this should work for you.

This won't help.
Also, seeing as you're S-OFF, you won't ever need to fastboot flash a kernel, recovery can manage that just fine.

Just had a look through the thread about recovering a desire Z, I'm a bit confuzzled by it all, the there is so much information in it.
Am I right in thinking that the situation I am in is that I have s-off and engineer recovery installed?
So in theory just wiping and reflashing my rom should be ok?
Should there be an option to install from sd card or something like that, or will I need to do it via abd?
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
More than likely it is a software issue but there could be more. Best bet is to just wipe clean and flash a ROM via recovery
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
That's pretty much as I thought, and to do that is a case of wiping then sticking rom on memory card and it should let me install from the recovery, something like install from sd or something isn't it?

Just having a quick look at this, when I select recovery from the hboot menu the phone just goes to the same white HTC screen and stays there until I pull the battery. Would this be because I don't have the rom on the SD card yet or is it that the recovery won't load?
If it's a problem with the recovery, can I just bung PC10IMG.zip back on the sd card to reinstall recovery and go from there?
Possibly, but often that's a sign of a fried emmc, it could be other things though. Can you post all the information I ask for
