Hi guys. I flashed the takju rom a while back around I/O 2012, but now that 4.1.2 is out, I want to go back to stock yakju. I got the OTA for 4.1.2, but for some reason it crashes during the middle of installing. So can some one point me to a place where I find directions on how to go from takju to yakju again. (my phone was originally yakju)
Thanks For The Help!
Download the 4.1.2 factory image and flash it...

I am a noob and have managed to unlock/root my Nexus. But I have been reading/attemting to update to 4.04 but update always fails, or will not begin. I reboot into recovery, using CWM and select the update file, but it always fails. I think, I just don't have the right update file for my variant, or I am asking, what is it I have to do to update this GSM 4.01 Nexus?
Flashing an OTA won't work unless you have the specific upgrade path.
My guess is you aren't on the yakju variant since you are still on 4.0.1.
My advice is to read through efrant's guide. It has all the info you need.
Are you on Virgin Mobile Canada? In that case, your phone must've come with Yakjuux, and you're probably trying to apply the yakju 4.0.4 update file which doesn't work for 2 reasons:
1) You're not on yakju
2) The yakju 4.0.4 update files are only for 4.0.2 and existing 4.0.4 versions, not for 4.0.1.
Your best bet is to install stock 4.0.4 full images from https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images . Follow the instructions there. You won't need to apply an update file in the end since if you follow the instructions, you'd flash a full 4.0.4 image straight from Google.
I have been trying to flash takju JRO03C from yakju IMM76I 4.0.4.
But I get Status 7 error even after full wipe and reflash to stock
Any ideas ?
There isn't a JRO03C from yakju IMM76I, is there? There is one from takju IMM76I - that's the one that started OTA last night. You're not trying to reflash stock yakju images and then apply the takju OTA, are you?

Better to be long winded and cover everything, than being short and not understanding key information that could cause you agony.
My two cents.

There is an update file from yakju IMM76I to yakju JRO03C. See here.
I have the same problem, but finally I decided to flash the JRN84D 4.1 ( CWM Flashable) from yakju IMM76I 4.0.4 and I update to JRO03C via CWM. I use Galaxy nexus toolkit 7.3 for all process.
I might have done something wrong here. I unlocked and rooted my Galay Nexus using Galaxy Nexus Root Toolkit. I did not backup anything. And I think I chose the wrong model type. The original build was IMM76K.SC04Dblablabla something. I chose IMM76I on the toolkit, and now im unlocked and rooted to it...however I cant go back...I want to go back because of the OTA updates and the new Jelly Bean. please help!

If you just want JB, you can probably directly download the ROM from the relevant thread and flash it directly. For OTA update, if you have the stock ROM, you will automatically get the OTA updates. With Docomo ROM, you would be dependent upon Docomo for OTA updates.
Hi guys, I am in a little trouble. When the developer conference version of 4.1 was leaked, being the impatient person I am, I flash the Busybox Deodexed rom from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1737849
I do not know what this rom did to my phone, maybe changed me to takju? But I can not flash the stock yakju 4.1.1 file that is on xda.
I would like to just return to complete stock yakju 4.1.1, I have no problem in going back to 4.0.4 and then to 4.1.1. Losing information on my phone is not an issue, I am willing to wipe everything.
I would really appreciate some help
Thanks a Bunch!
the solution lies in the same thread. you can install the odexed 4.1.1 rom, that would brink you back to stock takju 4.1.1 its the same with just the addition to Google Wallet

So will i get future ota from google, or will I have to flash them myself?
youll get future OTA's. you can just flash the factory images later when they are released just to make sure
Thank You very much for taking time to answer my questions
Hello All,
My Galaxy Nexus "TAKJU" is rooted and unlocked in Android 4.1.2 version.
Baseband: I9250XXLF1
Build No: JZ054K
Now I remember that directly going for OTA during 4.1.2 had issues and I had to download the stock 4.1.2 and flash.
Is there any way - I can go ahead with the OTA of 4.2 without facing issues as earlier?
Any help is appreciated!
download a rooted stock rom, boot into your custom recovery of choice, createca nandroid backup in the recovery, wipe data/factory reset, flash the rooted rom that you downloaded, reboot. backup all that you want to backup first.

Root is fine, however any modifications to system apps(i.e deodexed) and/or build.prop = you need to go back to stock 4.1.2 other than that you should be fine
Wow! that was the thing.. had modified my build prop file. restored the original one from 4.1.2 and went ahead with OTA and in breeze, there it came up!
Thanks all!

Thanks but one question - doing a data wipe, does it clean /sdcard/ directory contents as well? I guess the internal storage remains unaffected.
Sorry again, have a bad memory with what I did last time.

na, it'll remain untouched. just don't flash a factory image. go to the development section and pick out a rooted stock rom or aosp rom. I'm using an aosp ROM by kalo86.
