I want to back that up for when I do full wipes, to keep icon location/folder location...
Would be nice if I could keep my notification set to what I had them set to.. but that is not really an issue and is faster to do... setting up my folder takes awhile :/
What launcher do you use? Most of them have a backup/restore option. I know Nova does for sure. Just make sure all apps and stuff are installed before restoring. Check in your launcher settings.

Apex will also backup the "desktop", though it may be only in Apex Pro, which is what I use.
Like already said, most aftermarket launchers have backup capabilities...usually found in the settings menu of the launcher.
I use Titanium Backup, and when restoring apps, it will restore your icons and placement as well. Widgets will need to be replaced manually if you have any of them placed on your home screen.

Use go backup pro

I use TBackup to backup all apps/data. After wipe, restore Holo Launcher with data will put everything back as was.

Trebuchet is the default launcher for CM. Back up and restore it in TiBu.

Should the enter key!
Buzz launcher remembers without doing anything in settings but you will have to replace your widgets.

I find myself spending considerable time "re-organizaing" my phone after flashing. Is there a way to keep the folders I created, and better yet, the layout of my homescreen, widgets, etc. when flashing new roms?

Most custom launchers support this. I've used go launcher ex, adw launcher, and launcher pro and they all will backup your configurations.

Miui backup saves homescreen layout and apps, but only for MIUI

I personally don't back up my layout because I think its fun setting it all back up again.

Thanks jwiner for asking this question. I assumed the answer was no, so was glad to see that I could back up using ADW settings. I am on CM7 currently but hadn't paid much attention the ADW settings until now.
Does that back up the widgets too? After restoring with TiBu I always get a "cannot open widget" or something like that. LPP says it's an Android thing that can't backup widget configurations

Widgets will be saved in the spot you set em. However, you will need to delete & reset each one.
That's been my experience as well. Thanks

There is no way with stock HTC sense to save the layout.
Custom roms with alternative launchers do have so options however you still need to reinstall the appropriate applications for the widgets to function correctly.
Same here
I'm using ADW and as far as I can tell, you can backup only the current layout, but I want a way to save each of my layouts and be able to go back and choose one of them again like you can in the Sense layouts. It takes me several days to get everything set up, custom icons made, and tweaking until it's just right. So it sucks that you can't go back and reuse all of them when you want.

Do you use Titanium?
I thought launchers with backup/restore only restored settings and actual apps on the screen. Every time I used them they never restore widgets, I always have to remove the gray block and re-add the widgets.
If you use a folder tool like folder organizer Titanium will backup those folders and apps inside of them.
Okay so i flashed dewizzed the day i got my phone and i set my wallpaper and lock screen to a picture. I flashed a few other roms and restored back to dewizzed, but now when i try to change the wallpaper, it does not give me the popup to change the lockscreen and it doesnt change the wallpaper. Im pretty sure that it happens after i do a restore through titanium backup. Any ideas?????

Can I remove it and just stay with trebuchet launcher? I keep getting updates for something I never use. I also have purchased ADWLauncher EX, so after i test it, if I like it, can I remove Trebuchet launcher too? Thanks!

Navigate to system/app and then delete the launcher. Never used cm so assume it is the same as normal app.

You can do it that way, but I prefer to use Titanium Backup as, I assume it also removes system folders etc giving a cleaner removal.
I really like the Nova launcher and have used it forever. Is there a way to export other than backup? I would like to try other launchers but would like to import so I do not have to set everything up again....

You mean back up your setting from one launcher and use those settings on another? Not possible since they are all different in so many ways

hey there, a little help needed with an issue i'm having. I'm not a total noob, more of a longtime lurker, so anyways i used "Font Installer *Root*" to change the system font on my sgn3. It prompted me to make a backup of my default font first to which I selected 'yes'. Turns out that didnt backup my system font but i was a notification that i should and that the 'yes' was just to continue the font changing process and not to backup. So now i desperately wanna resort to the default samsung font, what can i do? i do have a nandroid backup but really dont want to wipe it just because of this, i'm on a rooted n900T on 4.3 stock rom/kernel, are there any other ways to get back the default touchwiz font?
Can't you just change it from the settings? Under font

You should be able to do what Chuk mentioned under display/font. You can also try ifont on the playstore, a free app which has hundreds of built in fonts (stock included).

Think it's either droidsans.ttf or roboto.ttf just download ifont than hit the local tab, than choose to restore factory default font, it's stored in your system automatically so it will work.

The custom font I selected from font installer became the new 'default' so restoring just brings me back to it that custom font. Thanks however,I will look up those fonts you suggested

Make a new nandroid, restore the old nandroid, backup the font, copy it out, restore the nandroid, copy the font back in.
Frank
Can't you long press the home key and go to "clear defaults"?
