Galaxy Note II can not sync to Mac book Pro - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My GN2 can not sync to Mac book pro, Mac book didn't permiss to install Kies on mac and File transfer for mac didn't work on mac.
Please help me.

Well, any apple product sucks. They just want to sync with other apple products so they can make more money by forcing people buying only apple products.

What error message are you getting when you try to install Kies?

Solved.... Soliution is here...
- Download the latest version of Samsung Kies: http://www.samsung.com
- Open the downloaded DMG
- Once you have the .Kies20mac_S8173.pkg file window with the "Uninstall.app", right click on the KIES20mac_S8173.pkg and open using "The Unarchiver" and extract to a folder (I created a KIES folder on my desktop)
- From here you will see a file called "contents.pkg", Right click and select "Show Package Contents"
- Double click "Payload", it will create a file called "Payload-2", (at least it did for me)
- double click "Payload-2" and it will create another file called "Payload-2-2"(the payload part seems to have just duplicated so you may only need to do this once. But keep opening until you see the Applications Folder)
- In "Payload-2-2" you'll find the Applications folder, within the Applications folder you'll see the "Kies.app".
- Transfer the Kies.App to the Applications folder and then run Kies.
wooohhhooowww finally it works....
i have also installed ANDROID FILE TRANSFER... and it works like charm....
100% working....
Thanx too GOOGLE )

As far as i remember, we must use the method of exporting the kies.app before samsung gives compatibility with mountain lion.Interesting is, that AFT now works? Are you with stock rom?Appreciate any feedback
edit: well just see that kies is still not compatible with mountain lion.I had installed with this method previous version of kies and updated to latest version with no error "unknown OS"

Have you tried SyncMate? It syncs data on Mac with Android Galaxy (contacts and caledars can be synced for free). Hope this helps!

Thanks everyone I will try what you note.

Unarchiver can not install on my MBP 102 with ML 10.8.2 ( It say :The Unarchiver.app” can’t be opened because it is from an unidentified developer" ). Kies20mac was not supported by ML 10.8.2, only 10.6 or 10.7 OS supports Kies20mac.
I have checked many times and now Android File Transfer works fine and Note 2 can sync to MBP today.
Thank raman21raman,

It works
Hi,
I confirm Android File Transfer now works for me too on Lion.
I remember yesterday of 1 system and 1 java update on the Mac, perhaps they did fix some stuff on cupertino side...
All good now

Change the setting to accept unidentified developers. I had the same issue. It is in system preferences/security & privacy. Allow opening from anywhere.

I re-downloaded Android File Transfer, uninstalled Kies, and at long last
Android File Transfer works - external card & internal storage !

I'll have to seer if I have similar issues with mine when I get the GN2 but my NS4G never had problems I just mounted usb and it showed up like any other mass storage device on the desktop... maybe I'll just use an sd card and adapter lol

I can't agree totally, you are more that right about apple's proprietary practices and I don't own an apple phone or Ipad. But I do own a MacBook Pro and the thing is a kick ass laptop. The OS is solid, the hardware top notch easy to use. I was a PC man for years because of just this mindset but I have been converted. At this point in time to me Mac computers rule.
I think that this is partly due to the fact that the hardware and os and many if not most apps are apple products. It's a lot easier to keep things tight when you are not trying to write an os to accommodate the multitude of hardware out there. I am am Mac owner going on 2 years now and although i own a couple of PC's as well I will never go back.
IMHO of course...

It's pretty limited, but there is a filebrowser.
First dial ##634# to enter the diagnosismenu on your Samsung. In the diagnosis menu enter 5**6244*3 and choose the option "shortcuts". That opens the filebrowser. You can press "options" and check option "show all files". You will be in the "windows" folder. Press "up" to go to the root. The is no copy/paste/launch, just browsing.
This is the only filebrowser that works for now. I'm working on something better, but it might take a while. Bear with me...

Take a look at this, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=877782.
It allows you to explorer ALL the files under the Windows directory (and sub directories), some files can be downloaded (such as XML config files etc).
It is pretty awesome actually, you use your browser on you computer to navigate through the files.
The source code is available too.
thanks, can i use it for this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=919612

Cannot fail connecting SGS3 to PC (Easy Solution)

I have installed the connectivity on many machines that others have given up on!
It's EASY! Before you begin, You might also need to open my computer, click on tools, folder options, views and put checks in display contents of system folders
also put a check on show hidden files and folders. Just so that you will be able to see the necessary folders and files.
1) Un-install any other android phone connection software that might be installed on the PC.
2) Use Microsoft Update and get the PC updated to the latest available updates.
3) Install the latest Media Player available to your OS. (XP is only capable of 11) NOTHING LOWER THAN !0 WILL WORK.
The files can be downloaded from the link below.
4) Copy the 2 files in the Toshiba INF folder to your Windows/inf folder (The original ones in your system are mostly the reason for the problem)
5) Install the Kies software, and do not let it update! The newer version won't work.(Don't panic, it takes a few minutes to complete the install)
6) After you're all done, make sure you have the USB Debugging checked on your phone. (Settings/developers options)
Connect the phone to the PC using the USB cable that came with the phone.
It may take a while for the new drivers to install, and also a while to recognize the phone. Just be patient
7) If the system does not work the first time, disconnect the phone and reboot the PC.
8) Open Kies and do the Troubleshoot Connection (it has kept a record of what needs to be fixed when it tried and failed.
9) After it completes, Re connect the phone to the PC, after a while, it will make the connection!
10) After the first time it connects, you will no longer need to run the Kies software to connect to the PC.
Just connect the cable and the PC will recognize the phone..
If for some reason it loses connectivity and cannot connect again, just run the kies again and it will work like it did before.
The files you will need (except the Media Player) can be gotten here:
http://bitshare.com/files/scn15w79/Best-Way.rar.html 3/18/2013
http://www.putlocker.com/file/0D6BDDFFF311EF1C
Link added and checked as of 6/8/13
4) Copy the 2 files in the Toshiba INF folder to your Windows/inf folder (The original ones in your system are mostly the reason for the problem)
what is the windows/inf folder?
im tyring to search it but not getting any hits

I was advised to check this thread out in regards to my S2 lte having the same issue. That being said it hasn't worked. Can't see what I could be doing wrong. As far as i can tell the only thing that was even slight unclear is whether or not to delete the original files int he INF folder as the two files in the Toshiba folder have the same name as the ones in the INF folder. So I choose copy and replace. Was that incorrect?
AAARGHHHH the issue has now spread to my 10.1 Tablet. Nothing connects now.

That would be wherever YOU downloaded it to
when you click on the download link at the end of the list, you will download it. unpack the files. Then you will be able to copy them to the ini file folder in windows.
You might also need to open my computer, click on tools, folder options, views and put checks in display contents of system folders
also put a check on show hidden files and folders.
it's is not that hard to understand if you read the steps carefully. maybe you might want to print the list out, and check off each step as you complete it. Also you would be able to reference the file as you are doing the steps.
if you skip any one of the steps, or jump around, it may not work as the steps in the procedure were deliberately done to facilitate the actions that occurr behind the scenes, and still achieve the expected results.

To establish connectivity, I would download the universal Samsung USB drivers or install Kies/SmartSwitch and use the original Samsung USB cable on a USB 2.0 port.
Can't download the files off that site, as well as I can't access my I535PP at all. I've tried everything, and at one point kies said my device wasn't supported yet it's on the list... Idk what to do...
Edit: Kies specifically says unsupported device when it goes to connect to it, and says to use smart switch but that wouldn't work either.

Unlock Samsung Windows Mobile 6.x Smartphone

I bought a Samsung Saga i770 from eBay since it also works in GSM network. Sure it was locked to US Verizon Wireless. I discovered that there
is a easy to unlock this phone for free using the same way as unlocking Samsung i780 and Omnia i9xx. I believe it may work for Blackjack and other Samsung smartphones with Windows Mobile OS.
Download and copy attached archive into your smartphone and follow the guide. And if you find this guide useful make a little donation since
I really need a better Windows Mobile smartphone

Hi Thanks a lot for your response. This program actually doesnt work, it throws up a window and says
The file "Personalize" cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate or one of its components cannot be found. If the problem persists, try reinstallling or restoring this file.
All three lnk files give the same error.
Thanks again
It's weird since you only need to extract the all files and open link files. Those link files are pointing into "Personalize.exe" near the .lnk files.
Try to copy "Personalize.exe" into Windows directory and lunch the .lnk files again.

He posted the SideSync app, and a hacked SideSync.exe that runs on any PC, and they work on mu Compaq PC, but upon trying the connection with the SideSync app on my S3, it crashes (Force Close). I don't know if this is for all (bad hack of the exe), or it is my ROM (which is a stripped down version of Samsung EMD2, many bloatware removed, and many frozen useless apps)
While the Phone Screen Sharing works just fine, quite fast. no issues

i have installed it again and it seems to work fine now thanks !
Quick write-up:
First a YouTube video with the functions: http://youtu.be/HVvczhM5KxI
Links as posted by KashaMalaga on his twitter -> https://twitter.com/KashaMalaga
First link, full package: http://goo.gl/WcbGP
Second link, cracked sidesync: http://goo.gl/1RfeS
Extract both archives.
1. Open this folder from the first link: Side Sync 1.0.2.12 and execute the inst.exe file as admin. (Wait till its done)
2. Open this folder from the first link: Phone Screen Sharing 1.0.0.1 and execute the Chain_Install.exe file as admin. (Wait till its done)
3. Copy the file SideSync.exe from the second link and paste it in this folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Samsung\Side Sync
4. Of course overwrite
5. Grab your phone
6. Open Samsung Apps on your phone (Pre-installed on s3 en note 2 as far as I know).
7. Download Side Sync and Phone Screen Sharing (Both made by Samsung)
8. Go to settings -> Developer options -> Slide top right slider to on position -> Check Usb-Debugging
9. Hook up your phone to your pc (Wait a minute for windows to install drivers and such)
10. Open Phone Screen Sharing app on your phone
11. Open Phone Screen Sharing on pc
12. Let Phone Screen Sharing on pc look for updates and such and follow instructions.
13. Everything should work now.
Tips:
Notice that you have two hidden arrows on the side of the phone preview on your pc. Top and bottom.
Top arrow hides functions like taking a screenshot and taking a movie. It also hides drawing and file manager.
The bottom arrow seems to have the equivalent function of holding the home button (Sort of a task manager)
You can re-size the preview phone, just grab it at the top left corner.
You can drag files from your pc to your phone preview. It will always ask if its okay to overwrite even though its a completely new file.
To be honest we are only using the Phone Screen Sharing app.
I couldn't get the Side Sync to work, which in my opinion is only handy if you have a dock for your phone.
I think the functions of Side Sync and the Phone Screen Sharing app are identical (Its just missing the backup function).
NOTES:
I opened both files as admin, I don't know if its necessary.
Also, I just wrote down what I did. Its up to you how you deal with those files and if you trust them.
Working on S3, Paranoid 3.15, Win7, but just the Screen Sharing one.
alternative app.
there's an alternative app with does the same job (well, almost the same job).
for those having issues getting sidesync to work, you might wanna give ShareKM a try. (google it, i can't post links just yet)

[Q] How to see ALL files when connected to PC??

Hi all....
Just got my Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 Edition tablet and have a question. When connected to my PC as a media device....I can see some of the files, but not ALL of the files (specifically the ones that start with a "."). Is there some setting on windows or android that would allow me to see ALL of the files and not just the ones that Android deems relevant?
Install SamsungLink on your PC and N10.1-14. It'll allow you to access all of your files on both devices from anywhere via Wi-Fi. It'll give you access to your PC files at the highest level of Windows directory structure.

Hey thanks. I tried this, but maybe I'm missing something. What I'm looking for is when I connect my tablet to my PC, I want to be able to see into the "dot" directories (the ones that start with a period). I cannot see that currently.

SamsungLink provides top-level directory access to the devices it's loaded on. I can see all my files on my PC and Android devices. I've never looked for anything like you've described so can't really provide any new detail.
